Take-Two's CEO, Ben Feder has emphasised how much of an impact Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption has had on the publisher.
In fact, Feder says that the massively popular title was a "game changer" for Take-Two.
"It's a big bet for sure. As it turns out, it paid off," Feder told VentureBeat.
"Even after the high cost of development, it's going to contribute nicely to profits. In the process, it has created a new franchise for the company."
Take-Two have, of course, been largely reliant on Rockstar's other hit series Grand Theft Auto until recently with the release of Red Dead and the continuing success of the Bioshock series.
"We set out to diversify the product line three years ago. And today, Take-Two is more diversified than at any other point in its history," Feder continued.
"Having a diverse set of brands allows us to pursue growth opportunities. Certain brands lend themselves to certain growth."
"We are still digesting the success of Red Dead. It opens up avenues for us to pursue. It gives the company more flexibility. It's a game changer for the company."

Motion controllers have "amazing potential" for shooters, reckons Splash Damage boss, Paul Wedgwood.
Speaking to CVG, the Brink developer expressed a big interest in Microsoft and Sony's new technology, though argued that the obvious implementation for the devices in first-person shooters might not necessarily be the best.
"I think these motion controllers have amazing potential for shooters, but perhaps not in the way people might immediately think (i.e. controlling motion)," Wedgwood told CVG.
"Perhaps we'll think about that in the future, but we don't have any plans for implementation in Brink."
Firmly donning our Big Hat of Speculation, we reckon Wedgwood could be hinting at using Kinect and Move in conjunction with Brink's SMART system. But that might count as "controlling motion".
What is SMART? "The idea is really straightforward," the Splash Damage man explains. "When you're in combat and you want to get somewhere in the game world, you hold down your SMART button (which doubles as a sprint button) and it will help with jumps, vaults, mantling, sliding, and so on, allowing you to easily navigate any obstacles in your path."
That's one idea then, but surely the most intuitive use for PlayStation Move in a shooter is to aim your weapon, a bit like a PC mouse?

Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2 producer, Jun Takeuchi has reiterated his intention to step-away from the Resident Evil series.
The Capcom man originally revealed his intention to leave the series to Xbox World 360 magazine last month, citing pressure of working in the shadow of Shinji Mikami as a factor.
He said: "Personally, I don't think I'm gonna deal with Resident Evil 6 at all - as far as the series is concerned I'm not planning to return until at least two more Olympics have passed!"
In a new interview published this weekend, he reiterated the snub: "I'm not involved in Resident Evil 6. There's actually a number of things I want to do," he said.
Some fresh faces might do this series some good, we reckon. What do you guys think?

A new analyst report claims that the purchase intent for Microsoft and Sony's next-generation motion control devices is "relatively low".
The post-E3 report from analysts at EEDAR says that the awareness of the Move and Kinect among core gamer types is high, but their intent to actually head to stores in autumn and trade cash for them isn't up to par.
Purchase intent for the devices "ranked relatively low" on EEDAR's charts, falling short of the top-20 range. Interestingly, the report also says that more gamers are interested in Kinect than Move, although it notes that this is likely down to the 360's large install base. Relatively speaking, it says both "showed near equal popularity".
EEDAR, who got its figures from IGN traffic, points out that purchase intent for both products should rise as they draw nearer to release and more games are announced.

This Xbox Live Gold Family Plan thing is sounding better all the time. Slated to arrive this November, the plan already allows gamers to snag four Xbox Live Gold memberships for $99 (half the usual price), and now Kotaku has learned that current members will able to roll their single accounts into the Family Plan later this year. According to Microsoft's Jerret West, current Live members will receive credit towards the Family Plan based on the value of the remaining time on their current subscriptions. Should that value exceed the $99 price, the extra will simply extend the subscription beyond one year.
In other words, you might be getting some Xbox Live Gold time "on the house," depending on how much time you have left on your current pool of subscriptions. Forget this "Family Plan" business, kids. This here is the Dorm Plan.

Not lucky enough to find yourself in front of a Kinect sensor at E3 last week? Then it looks like you might not have to wait until November after all -- Microsoft has just announced that you can now try it out at any Microsoft Store nationwide. That includes the San Diego store that just opened today and, well, all three others -- in Scottsdale, AZ, Mission Viejo, CA, and Lone Tree, CO. Interestingly, Microsoft is also reminding folks that they can pre-order Kinect at the Microsoft Store website, but that site now states that "official pricing has not yet been announced," and that "$149.99 is an estimate only and subject to change."

Bungie has said that Halo: Reach will feature scalable difficulty in co-op.
According to the studio's Brian Jarrard, speaking to Kotaku, enemies will toughen up when faced with two, three or four players rather than a lone Spartan.
In previous games, groups of players would need to increase the difficulty level manually to make the game more challenging, but in Reach the effect will be the same - also meaning that higher difficulty levels will be even more difficult.
Along with a sizable campaign starring a group of Spartans on the doomed human colony of Reach, the game features rethought multiplayer and an updated version of Halo 3: ODST's Firefight mode.
Halo: Reach is due out on 14th September. It's Bungie's last Halo game. Sniff.

Puzzle Quest 2 and Ancients of Ooga are due out on Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday.
That's according to our old friend Major Nelson, who also reminded us that Puzzle Quest 2 will cost 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20 / €14.40), while Ooga is down for 800 MSP (£6.80 / €9.60).
Puzzle Quest 2 builds on Infinite Interactive's successful attempts to blend match-3 puzzling and role-playing game elements.
Ooga is a 2D platformer in which, according to developer NinjaBee's website, players "eat, chant and even puke" through a primeval world.

Microsoft's Senior Regional Director for Northern Europe, Neil Thompson, has said the company isn't currently focusing on bringing BBC iPlayer to Xbox 360.
The news emerged when Thompson was asked by OXM about the possibility of the iPlayer coming to Microsoft's box.
"I think the way we look at the services we have with our TV services, we're very happy with what we're doing with Sky," he said.
"What we really want to do is ensure that we can differentiate and bring new things and that's about really looking at the services we have and saying "how can we improve those and make those even more interactive and more differentiated?"
He added: "Now that we have Kinect coming to the platform as well I think that's all we're going to focus our energy on and that's where we're going to put all of our focus on in the next year."
"iPlayer is available on a lot of platforms, people connect to that content in a lot of ways today and it's like 'where would we add value to that particular property at this point?' and we think we can probably add value in other areas at the moment."
Last year The Telegraph cited "sources close to the BBC," admitting that problems arose due to Microsoft's desire to limit iPlayer access to users of the paid-for Xbox Live Gold Service.

Microsoft has announced the first Kinect-specific advertising campaign in a new deal with American car maker Chevrolet, which will see the new Chevrolet Volt electric car featured in upcoming game Kinect Joy Ride.
The deal was unveiled at the 2010 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival and involves a standard video advertisement on the Xbox Live dashboard and on the Xbox website. After viewing the advert users are then able to unlock the Chevrolet Volt in the game.
"Kinect allows us to bring the excitement of the showroom to the living rooms of our customers. It’s a way for us to replicate the experience of physically engaging with a product that is essential to the customer’s purchasing decision," said Jim Campbell, US vice president of Chevrolet marketing.
The Kinect promotion is only one of several agreed between Microsoft and Chevrolet, with other initiatives involving the Windows Phone 7 and Bing. Additional advertising for the new car will make use of Microsoft's Pivot technology, part of Microsoft Silverlight.

Final Fantasy XIV Online creator and director Hiromichi Tanaka has told Eurogamer that a "closed" Xbox Live blocked the game from appearing on Xbox 360.
"The main reason why we couldn't go with Xbox 360 was the Xbox Live system," he explained at E3. "[Live is] different to the normal internet environment, so when we wanted to introduce this game in the same environment as Windows PC it had to be PS3, so that was our choice.
"Microsoft has a different point of view: they want to have a closed environment for Xbox Live. We're still talking to... We couldn't come to an agreement on Xbox Live."
Square Enix number-one Yoichi Wada told GamesIndustry.biz a similar story; he said what he'd like to see "first and foremost" was a network structure that allowed third parties to "freely design different business schemes".
Final Fantasy XIV won't be the first MMO snagged by the closed nature of a console's online service . Cryptic chucked in the towel on an Xbox 360 version of Champions Online earlier this year. Producer Craig Zinkievich told Eurogamer he was frustrated with the business side of getting an MMO on Xbox Live; the game itself, he said, ran just fine.
Ironically, Final Fantasy XI remains one of the only MMOs to be offered on Xbox 360.
Final Fantasy XIV Online is in development for PC and PS3.

Video games retailers have said that Microsoft's Kinect needs to be priced below £100 if it is to appeal to the mainstream.
At the moment retailers have been forced to take pre-orders for the Xbox 360 motion control device at prices of over £100.
But many say that's too high a price if Kinect is going to reach a wide audience.
"Sub-£100 and Kinect will benefit immensely," Morrison's games buyer Nick Sultanti told Develop.
"People are going to compare price points between Move and Kinect and it would be fairly detrimental if there is a major price discrepancy in favour of Move."
ShopTo boss Igor Cipolletta added: "Predictions of Kinect price being over £79.99 will do little to engender early adopters and thus affect unit sales in the short to medium term."
Reports suggest that each Kinect unit costs Microsoft $150 (just over £100).
The official Microsoft online shop listed Kinect at $149 on Tuesday although that price was called a 'place holder' by the company yesterday.

Namco Bandai has confirmed Enslaved's release date as Friday, 8th October.
Ninja Theory's PS3 and Xbox 360 action adventure was given an "October" date shortly before E3, but Gamerzines went and narrowed that down further.
Enslaved takes place 150 years in the future after an apocalyptic event has ruined Earth. Well, everything's smashed up but there's lots of trees and greenery about. Oh, and killer robots.
They're programmed to hunt the game's two protagonists Monkey and Trip who form an uneasy alliance to get to the bottom of what's going on.

Alan Wake developer Remedy would love to make a sequel to its Xbox 360-exclusive psychological thriller, but Microsoft hasn't said yes yet.
That's according to head of franchise development Oskari Hakkinen, who told IGN that the studio is "in a limbo at the moment".
"We're still in launch phase of Alan Wake 1, but Microsoft have an option for [a sequel]. That was in the deal a long time ago.
"I don't see why they wouldn't. We're happy with the partnership and they're happy with the game. I think it fits in their portfolio quite nicely. I don't see any reason why we wouldn't continue with Microsoft and why we wouldn't renew the IP. We definitely want a sequel of course."
Hakkinen also said that a sequel would take considerably less time to produce.
"Max Payne 1 took us also five years to make. Max Payne 2 took us 18 months. I think we'd be looking at something of a similar cycle."
As to what happens in the meantime, Hakkinen said that there are no downloadable content plans beyond The Signal and The Writer, but more content is a possibility.
"Originally we agreed that we'd only do two," he explained.
"Microsoft are interested in more episodes. Where we're sitting right now is we'll see how these go. We'll see how the attach rate is to the episodes."
The Signal is a free add-on for the game available to people who bought the game new, and will be released on 27th July. The Writer is the game's first premium content and is due out later, with a 560 Microsoft Points (£4.76 / €6.72) price tag.

Microsoft unveiled a new Xbox 360 S console at E3 this month, and without delay the new machine has been dissected and tested. The most dramatic change is the move to a single-chip CPU/GPU hybrid processor that is apparently being built on the 45nm process technology from GlobalFoundries, AMD's spun-off production facilities. With the inclusion of the new processor, the Xbox 360 S uses much less power (about 30-40%) compared to previous generation machines, and also turns out to be much quieter as a result of a single, larger fan. This article has photographic evidence of the teardown, with comparisons between this Valhalla platform and the older Falcon system, along with videos of the reconstruction process and noise comparisons."
The new console also takes measures to protect itself from overheating, so RRoDs shouldn't be a problem with this revision.

Microsoft's shown interest in getting core, FPS titles to Kinect "someday".
That's what Albert Penello, senior director of global marketing for Xbox 360 wants to see anyway, even if it isn't the focus 'right now'.
"The hardest part is really trying to make people understand the same group of people who built the stuff that they love now are working on this stuff, and it's not about alienating, and it's not about abandoning; it's about expanding," Penello told Industry Gamers.
"I don't think we have any interest in sort of getting away from controllers and getting away from the core games that got us here. This box was a response, you know, from us to the people that have followed us along and really asked for features for the console. Kinect is about getting other people in the house."
"Core gamers will say to me, 'What is Kinect going to do for me?' Well, you probably have a girlfriend, or you have a sister, or a brother, or a niece, or a nephew, or a wife, or a mom, or an aunt who you've probably wanted to have experience, you know, the kind of stuff that you enjoy."
"The first thing that comes to mind is the casual types of games, but I'd like to see what a first person shooter would be on Kinect someday," Penello continued.
"I don't want to see Halo band-aided into Kinect, because Halo is a controller game, and I think that would be not what we're trying to achieve. I want to see what a new type of experience would be. And you're just seeing the first generation of stuff. So, this is really about doing an 'and' thing for us. Getting new types of genres, new types of customers, and then continuing to serve the core with great games."
So maybe Kinect will see core FPS titles one day, but they won't necessarily be like ones we've ever seen before.
"At no point have we ever said, 'I don't have any interest in having core games come out on Kinect,'" Penello continued.
"We wanted to come out and make a statement that said, 'We want to try and do something different than the Wii, different than wands and hands, something that's magical, that takes away the abstraction, and I want a bunch of new types of games created.'"
"And oh, by the way," Penello added. "We're doing some really cool stuff with dash navigation and the people who experience it really get a kick out of the sort of virtual reality/Minority Report style. And we just launched the thing."
So does that ease any of your concerns, readers?

Xerax released Freehood360 v1.0 RC1 to be used with homebrew360s:
[QUOTE]
About
I made this application since I wanted to give the JTAG community the ability to use official tools and tools the lucky Devkit owners can have. I started coding in Early may 2010 and development got a bit slow due to many things; Exams, Busy with my Fiance, Reach Beta, Mapping Plugins for Reach, Other projects, Lazyness and other stuff. Also a huge problem of not being about to rig my dev up to be able to test and not having a JTAG so development of the browser was restricted to coding on friends computers VIA Teamviewer. Then the added bonus of the second i finish school and can really press on with coming, Micrsoft decided to Brick my Dev, so i had to go back to developing over Teamviewer.
But i managed to pull my finger out and deliver this application. I hope you enjoy it and i might be releasing more features and updates depending on if you guys want it and how busy i become with more advanced school over the next two years, Who knows?
I hope you enjoy and i suppose here is my gift to the JTAG Community.
Features in RC1:
- Add/Edit/Removal of Devices in the Applcation.
- Ability to browse files on all devices in or on the xbox (Hdd1, HddX, Flash, Usb[i], Memcard[i] ect)
- Look and feel of Xbox 360 Neighbourhood in the Xbox 360 SDK
- Download and Upload files directly to the Device.
- Supports Infinite amout of JTAG's (But who has more than 10 at the most... lol.)
- Support for Development Kits (Reviewer, Test, Stress Test, Demo ect)
- Exception catching, so it shouldn't be a bitch and through a emo fit if you do something stupid.
- Creation of Folders
- Creation of Text and INI files
- Many More...
