We're already nearly 24 hours into the 72 hour* "Free Xbox Live Gold Weekend" sponsored by the telco overlords at Verizon. This is a chance for all you 360 owners out there who managed to save up the $400 (or, more likely, $300) to get the thing--but didn't pitch in for a Gold account--to get a taste of what you're missing. I recommend you start by downloading some multiplayer demos, like GR:AW or Battlefield 2, and rocking them out multiplayer over Live.
*It's notable that Verizon and Microsoft chose this weekend over all others; considering we're going to lose an hour due to Daylight Saving's Time "springing" forward, this is really a 71 hour "Free Xbox Live Gold Weekend." What are we not supposed to look in the mouth again?

Assistance from investigators at the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association has resulted in the extension of a prison sentence for a British man convicted of handling stolen goods.
Following a police raid on his shop, DH Wings, Essex resident David Hoang was arrested on 23rd February for handling stolen goods and ELSPA was called in to provide evidence at his court trial after the accused pleaded not guilty to additional charges of chipping offences.
"We're pleased we could assist in this case," commented Michael Rawlinson, deputy director general of ELSPA. "The modification of games consoles, more commonly known as 'chipping', is a criminal offence and so is the possession of modified chips. The successful resolution of this case highlights the very real threat of prosecution and a criminal record to anyone tempted to become involved."
As a result of the input from ELSPA investigators, Mr Hoang's sentence was extended by a month, bringing the total term to eighteen months in prison.
Publishers have long contested the use of console mod chips, which are generally billed as a tool for allowing hardcore gamers access region encoded import titles that may be delayed or never released in the West, but clearly offer the added, illegal functionality of playing pirated software.
In the UK, 'chipping' is currently an illegal practice. ELSPA argues that this particular case further highlights the gravity of the situation, and the determination of both trade bodies and police officials to trace and fully prosecute offenders.
Next-generation consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PS3 will further negate the plausibility of using mod chips to play imported games, thanks to region free coding on software. However, publishers will still have the option to lock titles to specific regions, to maintain a staggered launch strategy, for example, which means the availability and use of mod chips is unlikely to disappear, despite the re-enforced risk of legal prosecution.
Modbo has discontinued their popular 2.1 chip BUT a complete new line up of 4 Modbo modchip has been released!
Remember we only sell ORIGINAL Modbo product and not clones!

Xport released a new version of WinUAEX - an Amiga Emulator for Xbox.
Heres whats new:
* ISO/MP3/CUE support (but same CDDA bug as with real CDs - see notes)
* ISO/MP3/CUE also works across network and on ISO9660
* GUI brought up-to-date
* Minor optimizations, perhaps extra 1-2 fps
* Fixed bug where if you changed graphics filters you would get black screen
* Fixed ISO9660 bugs
* Fixed Relax bugs
* Fixed bug where mouse input was not being recognized if only one USB mouse was attached to the XBox. Hopefully 2-mice will still work.
* Flicker filter setting now saved for each game
* Multiple joysticks problem should be fixed
* CD32 Blue button fixed
* Cleaned up the Kickstart ROMs and gave proper names to them.
* Added more robust/correct "Machine Defaults"
* Save states now store the currently inserted disks in all of the disk drives. Now you shouldn't have to worry about whether or not you have the correct disks in the drives when you load a previously saved state.
* New game configuration option : "Clip Excess Video Borders". When enabled, WinUAEX will attempt to only display the currently active game screen and remove the excess space. This can result in some screen jumpiness in certain circumstances, but does give pleasing results from time to time. This is off by default.
* Fixed bug where if you configured/ran a HDF file, then exited the emulator, restarted it, and tried to load the game again from the saved configuration, it would fail.
* Can now select keys on the virtual keyboard with the Left Analog stick
* New in-game menu option "Rotate Disks" - this will rotate the disks in the 4 floppy drives. This can also be assigned to a button combination in the usual way. (Go to controller configuration, Change Emulator Definitions, then map one of the "Emu Buttons" to "Rotate Disks" (it's at the very end of the list), then go to Change Joypad Mappings, Change Game Mappings, and assign it a button combination.)
Jury selection will begin today in DeLand, Florida for three of the four men charged in the August 2004 murders of six during an attempt to retrieve an Xbox. Troy Victorino, 29, Robert Cannon and Michael Salas, both 20, and Jerone Hunter, 19, allegedly used aluminum baseball bats to beat to death Erin Belanger, 22, Michelle Nathan, 19, Francisco Ayo-Roman, 30, Anthony Vega, 34, Roberto Gonzalez, 28, and Jonathan Gleason, 17. The victims, some of whom were sleeping, did not resist the attack, which was charged by Victorino's insistence upon reclaiming his Xbox from Belanger.
Canon already pleaded guilty and will receive life in prison in exchange for his testimony. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the remaining three defendants.
This is a nice little mod, unfortunately it is for the original Xbox. Let’s just hope BrutalByte over at iHacked finds a way to do it for the 360. He installed a Netgear Wi-Fi adapter internally in the Xbox to allow a for a wireless connection without having messy adapters adding to the tangle mess already behind your entertainment center. Nice work, but forewarning, this may void your Xbox warranty and this mod does take a little bit of electronics know-how.
Multi-picture deal secured with Paramount Pictures
Significantly expanding the range of content available through Xbox Live and creating a unique cross-marketing initiative, Microsoft and Paramount Pictures have unveiled the new Xbox Movie Showcase service.
Beginning with the release of an HD trailer for Paramount's forthcoming summer blockbuster, Mission: Impossible III, the Movie Showcase will offer the rapidly expanding Xbox Live community a selection of free-to-download content that includes film trailers, exclusive themes, graphics and customisation content for the Xbox 360.
Additionally, featured movie stars including Jack Black (star of the forthcoming Nacho Libre, the trailer and digital content for which is soon to appear on Xbox Live) will also be taking part in Microsoft's community-based "Game with Fame", where gamers can enter for a chance to play an online game with their favourite celebrity.
Aaron Greenberg, group marketing manager, Xbox Live, commented: "Paramount shares our commitment to providing an entertaining and meaningful gaming experience for Xbox gamers. We're excited to be starting out on this multi-picture campaign and look forward to continuing to provide compelling entertainment experiences to gamers everywhere."
As part of the agreement, Paramount DVDs will also be promoted in Xbox 360 kiosks using a Digital Entertainment Lifestyle video in over 30,000 retail stores worldwide.
Gerry Rich, Paramount's president of worldwide motion picture marketing, added: "This ground-breaking agreement takes interactive marketing and digital entertainment to new heights, representing the perfect match between gamers and the summer movies they can't wait to see."
Microsoft's Xbox Live service, which is an integral part of the multimedia and community features of the Xbox 360 console, has achieved tremendous success so far, boasting a subscriber base of more than 2 million consumers worldwide, which continues to grow each day. According to the Microsoft, Xbox Live is used to send more than 600,000 text messages each day, and its Marketplace service has recorded over 10 million content downloads to date.
Microsoft has revealed that for one week in May, it'll be offering free access to Xbox Live Gold, and all that's required to take advantage of this fit of generosity is your Xbox 360 hooked up to a broadband connection.
As of Monday, May 8 at 8am and running through to Monday, May 15 at 8am, all Silver Xbox Live accounts will be automatically upgraded to the Gold level of service. What this means, of course, is that, for free, you'll be able to enjoy all the giddiness that Gold has to offer, including playing Xbox 360 games online against other users.
Funnily enough, the free Gold access runs during E3 week, so we're expecting Microsoft to unleash a whole mass of Xbox 360 delights on Live that'll tie in with its major announcements at the show. Keep 'em peeled for plenty of downloadable content, the likes of trailers and game demos set to be released every day during the jamboree.
Microsoft's freebie is all part of an event called Xbox Live Football Free-For-All, which is sponsored by adidas:
"The Xbox Live Football Free-For-All will celebrate all things football in a non-stop, connected world. You can play EA's 2006 FIFA World Cup - in stores from 28th April - with or against your friends over Xbox Live and if you feel like some tougher competition you can register to qualify for the Xbox Cup - taking place right now. The Xbox Live Football Free-For-All also gives you the chance to represent your country in Berlin this summer by qualifying for the Xbox Cup through Xbox Live. All you need is an Xbox 360 console, a copy of EA's 2006 FIFA World Cup and a broadband connection," says Microsoft.
Plus, as part of the Football Free-For-All, there's the chance that you and a team of ten friends could bag 11 limited Xbox 360 World Cup edition consoles, 11 free subscriptions to Xbox Live, 11 copies of 2006 FIFA World Cup and 11 adidas Teamgeist footballs - the official match ball of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Don't forget: to take part in the Free-For-All event, all you need to do is plug a broadband cable into the back of your Xbox 360 console. Doing this will give you the standard Xbox Live Silver membership which will be upgraded automatically to Gold on May 8.

Nes6502 released a port of the Zsnes Super Nintendo emulator to the Xbox.
Heres whats new:
This is a beta release. This is also ported from W.I.P. code and not the stable 1.42 release. Therefore, there are issues in this port that do not exist in 1.42. There are also new features not in 1.42. This comes with no warranty. I am not responsible for any damage this may do to your Xbox.

99% of all games run full speed with sound with or without filters
Core Features:
1) Full graphics emulation (stretched)
2) Full sound emulation
3) Player 1 input supported.
4) Rom browser with screenshot preview, background music, and sound effects
5) SRAM support

Nes6502 has released a new version of his port of the Zsnes the Super Nintendo emulator to Xbox:
Whats New:
The wrong frequency (44100) was being used for sound output. The correct frequency for the SNES is 32000. This is corrected. The result is MUCH more accurate sound. To hear the difference try Starfox and shoot the buildings with the new version. It makes the correct metalic ping sound. Then compare this to the same sound generated with the 1.0 version.
New features added:
1) Save States
2) Fast Forward
My TOP priority now is a resizable/movable screen. I will try to get a 1.2 release out with this feature in the next couple days.
