Sonic Free Riders will be included in the Kinect launch line-up.
The blue hedgehog was flashed on screen during the Microsoft conference, when the 15 launch games were listed.
Also included in the launch line-up are family friendly mini-game packages such as Kinect Sports and Kinect. Adventure.
We saw a couple of the mini-games in the Microsoft conference such as river-rafting from Kinect Adventure.

Xbox Live and Windows Live Messenger are about to meet up in a very personal way -- Microsoft has just announced a new video chat service called Video Kinect, which serves as a logical extension of its brand new Kinect voice- and motion-sensing control system. But it's not just video calling, no sir, you'll be able to watch movies, news, sports, and the like together with whoever you're chatting with. Additionally, thanks to a motorized base and a new skeleton-tracking feature, the Kinect unit will also follow users as they move around the room. Yup, not creepy at all.

What, a launch of November 2010 wasn't specific enough for you? Well, how about a Kinect launch of November 4? Microsoft just confirmed that's the day, and as of now it's looking like a worldwide launch. It will drop with 15 titles, including:
Kinectimals - Nintendogs but with wild and impossibly cute animals
Kinect Sports - Soccer, bowling, track and field games, a bit like Wii Sports
Joyride - "Thrill of high speed kart racing, with the joy of controller-free gaming"
Kinect Adventures - Jumping around and stuff
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved - most amazing looking fitness game we've seen yet, from Ubisoft
Dance Central - an actual, honest to gosh dance game without stupid pads -- from Harmonix
So far Your Shape and Dance Central are looking the best, but Microsoft is still showing us more, and we're thinking a few of you are going to like that Star Wars game from Lucasarts. Interestingly, no price was announced, meaning Microsoft seems to be waiting to see how many US dollars the competition decides to charge. Your Move, Sony.

ESPN has signed an "exclusive deal" with Xbox Live to bring sports events to Microsoft's console.
The network will bring 3500 live sport events to 360 including Soccer, NBA collage basketball, collage football and more.
The service looked very similar to the Sky service currently available in Europe. A pair of lippy ESPN pundits (Robert Green jokes and all) even showed off ESPN working hands-free with Kinect.
ESPN will be available to Gold members at no extra cost.

Microsoft has revealed Kinectimals, a virtual pet title that - as the name suggests - makes use of the new Kinect controller for Xbox 360.
The title is aimed at young children and features 40 different animals, with up to 30 different activities to take part in.
The game makes use of Kinect's motion and voice recognition capabilities. It was announced during Microsoft's E3 press conference in LA.

At first we were doubtful that a edgy box appearing in a little Flash ad from Italy last night could be legit, but Microsoft just got real with the new Xbox 360 Elite. It'll launch today priced for $299, while the old Elite will stick around for $249 and the Arcade will drop to $149. The new box is crazy sexy, in our eyes, and it's got integrated 802.11n WiFi and 250GB of storage -- we're told the hard drive is removable, although it's not a standard drive or same drive as the old console, which makes us wonder how upgrading will go. There's also an intriguing new port on the back that looks like an HTC-style ExtUSB port -- we're guessing it's related to Kinect in some way -- and it also seems like the power supply has moved inside the case, which is a welcome change. New Xbox 360 units are shipping to retailers now, with availability expected later this week, and MS conference attendees are actually getting theirs shipped today.
If you're in Europe, don't fret, as yours is coming soon. Microsoft's official Xbox Twitter account has confirmed the console hits there on July 16.

Microsoft didn't say a peep about Kinect pricing at its E3 keynote, but GameStop isn't being shy: Kinect is now listed on the retailer's website for $149.99. The page is dead if you try to click through from search results, so it looks like the listing may have gone up in error, but we've got a feeling you're looking at three Grants come November 4 no matter what. We'll let you know.

A Mel B fitness game has been announced for Kinect. That's right, Mel B is going to be in your living room...sensing you (scared!).
The game's on show at developer Black Bean's E3 booth. Here's the reasoning:
"We were looking to the future of interaction in Family & Lifestyle products, not just as a porting of a dated experience but as a fresh new vision", says Fabrizio Vagliasindi, strategic corporate coordinator at Black Bean Games.
"Get Fit With Mel B is going into that direction, trying to redesign the feeling of interaction with a trendy approach to a user interface."
We'd like to say that the announcement of a Mel B fitness game for Kinect represents her career waning slightly, but let's face facts, it's worse than that.
Back in the 90's and the early Noughties a fitness video was the sign of a career going down the pan. Welcome to the future, times have changed, now Z-list celebrity careers end on consoles.
Sure, she looks great, but what if she opens her mouth. What if?!
Enough of her. Expect more Kinect releases at the Microsoft conference.

June 14th, 2010, 18:49 Posted By: wraggster
The world’s games press have for the first time had some hands-on fun with Microsoft’s initial range of Kinect (formerly Natal) titles and if one thing’s clear it’s that the platform holder has big mass-market casual gamer aspirations with its new technology.
Leading the line-up is Kinect Sports. Though MS will no doubt deny it, the inspiration for the title is clear – it doesn’t want anyone buying Kinect to feel as if they’re missing out on the Wii Sports experience.
Developed by Rare and making big use of Xbox 360’s avatars (a system that the UK studio itself devised). Mini-games on show included Hurdles, which requires users to run on the spot and jump over obstacles.
Interestingly, success is measured not be speed of movement but by how many calories the player burns. Kinect is able to detect your total body movement and calculate energy burn accordingly.
Also available was a bowling title that, despite concerns about Natal’s precision, seemed to allow for the nuances you’d expect such as spin.
Next up was Harmonix’s Kinect title Dance Central, which seemed to receive the best reception from attendees at Microsoft’s event. Users are required to mimic the on-screen moves of stars such as Lady Gaga. The mass-market appeal of the title is obvious, and technically it appeared to run well.
Joy Ride has been in the pipeline for a while now and works very much as you would expect/ Players must ‘hold’ an imaginary steering wheel to control the on-screen action.
The visually impressive Kinect Adventures is being developed by Natal creator Kudo Tsunoda and is home to the ‘Ricochet’ and ‘River Rush’ demos that MS had previously touted. Though its branding would suggest otherwise, Kinect Adventures is in reality another mini-game collection – and one that many seemed to be having more trouble getting to grips with than some of the other titles on show.
In what may well be the first of many Kinect-specific fitness games, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved rounded off the bunch – and was more than simply a little evocative of existing titles on rival systems. Copying the on-screen actions was very much the order of the day, though a number of muscle-testing mini-games were also demonstrated.
It’s easy to imagine Kinect being a big success with the same sort of audience who already enjoy the Wii, but expect the specialist press to dwell on the stern technical questions that are already being asked about the new Xbox 360 technology

Microsoft's second round of E3 press conferences kicks off from 6PM BST this afternoon, where the platform holder will (hopefully) show off the 'core' side of its 2010 line-up.
As you can see from our What's in Microsoft's conference? feature, we're expecting the house of Xbox to unveil anything from a slim 360 console, to 3D plans and more concrete details on Kinect. But that's not necessarily what we'd like to see.
What we'd love Microsoft to unveil is a core game from Rare (Perfect Dark will do), a surprise or too and something that'll sell Kinect to those interested in things other than Yoga or party games.
But that's us - what would you like see dancing on the big Xbox television screens in Los Angeles tonight? Share you're opinions below and we'll take the mickey out of the worst ones in our Xbox live blog later this afternoon.

In what can only be seen an unwelcome PR blow for Microsoft ahead of its E3 press conference at 18:00 (BST) tonight, the BBC’s tech correspondent has voiced his unease about some elements of Kinect’s design.
Speaking after a hands-on sessions at Microsoft’s pre-E3 gathering last night, Rory Cellan-Jones stated:
“It was an enjoyable, if sweaty, half-hour, and I could certainly see the attractions of throwing away the control and just flinging yourself at the game.
“But I was not quite convinced that Microsoft's technology would deliver for hard-core gamers. It seemed to work well on fun Wii-like games where you didn't need too much precision – I'm not so sure how whether it would deliver on a first-person shooter.”
However, Cellan-Jones was a lot more positive about Sony’s Move controller.
“I've also had a go on Sony's Move motion control system, which is unveiled on Tuesday,” he continued. “Sony's solution is much less radical. It has retained the controller, now adorned with glowing spheres which interact with a sensor unit on the television.
“This makes the whole experience less physical than with Kinect, but it also delivers a lot more precision. Sony showed us a table tennis game which seemed to mimic the real thing much more closely than I have seen elsewhere.”

Among the acrobatics displayed at tonight's Cirque du Soleil Kinect event, a demonstration was given of a yoga game where players emulate the actions of an on-screen instructor performing various Tai Chi and Yoga moves. Rather than the occasionally frantic actions of Wii Fit or EA Sports Active, the actions in this games seemed much more tranquil.
The player replicates the stance of the on-screen instructor, effectively following an exercise routine. Considering an Xbox Live Avatar wasn't anywhere to be found, it would seem this is an entirely separate game from the already revealed Kinetic Sports. We'll find out more as the week goes on.

Microsoft's Stephen Toulouse believes that the name "Kinect" is a great fit for the Project Natal concept even though he admits it will be polarising.
"People will either like it or dislike it, proclaim it to be an inspired choice or a mistake that will doom the product to failure," Toulouse wrote on his blog following today's announcement of the name.
"I, like many others, decried Nintendo naming their new console the Wii. And yet look at how many units it's sold. The trick is in the magic of the experience."
Toulouse wrote that he had always been cynical about product names, but really liked "Kinect", regardless of his Microsoft affiliation.
"Evoking both 'Kinetic' and 'Connection', it embodies so much of what the technology achieves when you actually use it...
"Critics always s*** all over the marketing people who choose names they don't like, and when they really nail it, rarely give them the honours they deserve.
"So congratulations to the marketing folks in our group. Kinect is a perfect name for this technology, you nailed it. And I simply cannot wait for everyone to be able to use it."
Xbox Kinect was unveiled at an event in Los Angeles overnight along with a range of games that draw upon its controller-free technology.
Announced last year, it bore the Project Natal moniker right up until people were queuing for the event, when USA Today - ironically a paper Microsoft had been working with to manage the announcement - published a story early.

Kotaku has found marketing material bearing the "November 2010" legend.
Original story: Xbox Kinect will be released in November, according to reports.
The Seattle Times lists a November date, although none of Microsoft's official releases go beyond "holiday".
Meanwhile, Cirque du Soleil events director Yasmine Khalil hasn't ruled out the Montreal-based performers getting their own Kinect game.
"Maybe," Khalil told the Seattle Times. "You never know."

Microsoft has confirmed that a Kinect-based Star Wars title is in development.
The game, of which the licence is owned by LucasArts, was unveiled today at Microsoft’s Pre-E3 World Premier event in Los Angeles and took by far the biggest cheer.
Details of the Star Wars title are thin on the ground – with no name, no developer and no release date announced.
Yet attendees watching on at the event were given a tantalizing glimpse of the project, with a two minute pre-recorded gameplay demo showing the game’s Jedi protagonist swing a LightSaber in time to the player’s arm movements.
The player proceeded to deflect Storm Trooper laser beams by swinging his arms, and – something which delighted the Star Wars fans watching on – was able to use force attacks via his own body movements.
Storm Troopers were tossed across the screen with the player’s flick of the wrist and swing of the arm, while another gang of drones were floored by a shockwave burst as the player swiftly shot both hands down to his sides.
The title is most likely being developed and published by LucasArts, though no confirmation has been given yet.

A flurry of web reports and leaks tonight have confirmed that Microsoft has renamed Natal to Kinect - and that it will unveil a redesigned 360 at E3 this week.
Earlier this evening an Italian ad on a consumer games site outed the new look 360 (pictured) and claimed the device, with wi-fi as standard and 250GB storage, is compatible with 'Kinect'.
USA Today has since confirmed the name as the new moniker for Project Natal, the 3D camera motion-sensor unveiled at last year's E3 in Los Angeles.
And that's not all - other reports are suggesting Kinect will launch in two flavours, including a high-end $189 dollar version.

Microsoft is developing Kinect games that make use of Star Wars and Disney characters, according to the USA Today.
As part of the paper's story detailing the name and games for the new Microsoft game controller - hours before the official unveiling - the report also outs key support from third parties including MTV Games, LucasArts, Disney.
Specifically, the report says "Star Wars characters and iconic Disney favorites will be featured in separate new games being developed at Microsoft in conjunction with LucasArts and Disney," suggesting that these titles are being made-in house and not at the studios owned by those publishers.

You knew it was coming, right? Hot on the heels of getting leaked a wee bit early Microsoft has made official the rebadging of a device desperately seeking a new name: "Project Natal" is no more, replaced by Microsoft Kinect. At a circus- and celebrity-filled affair, MS wrapped everyone in high-tech panchos (pictured after the break courtesy of Joystiq) and then took the wraps off of the new title. Quite a few game demos were shown, ranging from Star Wars to tiger petting, the Kinect interface to the Dashboard was shown (said by some to be Minority Report-like), and a video chat app called, wait for it, Video Chat. Through here you can naturally talk to friends (up to four total people at once was "shown"), and also share photos.
Sadly, no hands-on time was given nor did MS reveal the two crucial bits of information we're waiting for: price and date. Naturally a holiday release is expected, to give the Xbox 360 a nice sales boost, but we're hearing price rumors as high as $150. These choice bits of intel will surely be unveiled at Microsoft's event tomorrow -- if someone doesn't beat 'em to it. The hardware is still looking exactly like the early picture above, shattering hopes of a slimmer design to match new Slim Xbox 360.
Update: We've got official photos now, though solid textual info is still scarce. Stand by!
Update 2: So we're out of the wild, cult-like experience that was Microsoft's Kinect unveiling. Microsoft still has a lot of details to reveal, but there are a few things we gleaned from watching the demos:
Almost everything was one person at a time, particularly in the Kinect Sports games. Even a game like beach volleyball or soccer was boiled down to individual "moments" of interaction that get strung together into some sort of competition. Even the running in place games were one at a time, though the river rafting and mining cart games (both with a similar mechanic of jumping and ducking through an obstacle course while picking up tokens) could be played with two people at a time. You can at least play games like volleyball simultaneously with someone else over Xbox Live.
An interesting mechanic we saw was a second player "jumping in" to a game. In the mining cart scenario, when the second player jumped in it immediately went split screen, while in soccer different players took turns by just jumping into position. Sure, some of this stuff was edited for our benefit, but it seems Microsoft is working to make the introduction of a second player or the switching between players something less button-heavy.
The Star Wars game was pretty badass-looking -- you play a Jedi, rushing down stormtroopers and deflecting laser bolts left and right, wielding a few Force powers, and confronting a certain deep-voiced Sith Lord for a one-on-one duel. Based on the gestures and action we saw, though, it was a pretty heavily scripted experience. Still, there's no scripting a two-handed light saber grip, and that particular action looked like everything we've ever wanted in a Star Wars game.
The yoga game is actually a pretty smart use of the infrared and joint detection software we espied previously. Positions were "checked" by points on the joint -- making it certainly harder to fake the moves on Wii Fit -- and it seemed to have a tai chi element to it. Your avatar glowed a more intense red based on your three-dimensional approximation -- bright red for hands stretched forward, for example.
Next up: Kinectimals, a baby tiger pet simulator. You can scratch its ears, snuggle, and teach the little guy to jump and play dead. Adorable? Dangerously so. No one can tell us the developer, but based on the lighting effects, art style, and similarities to the previously-shown Milo, we'd wager a guess that it was Lionhead Studios.
The Kinect menu interface is about as simple as could be. You wave your hand to control a glowing cursor of sorts, and you push forward to "click" on the element you want. Of course, there's also a very simplified version of the Dashboard to go along with this control mechanism, so it's unclear if you'll be able to do everything via subtle hand waves, but the Twitter, Facebook, Zune and Netflix icons were clearly present.
The MTV Games-developed Dance Central has some on staff divided -- only Ross will actually admit to being interested in playing it. A series of dance moves are presented, including elbow jabs, swinging leg, guitar, "rocking out" (with your hand in the air). The art style is akin to Rock Band / Guitar Hero, and to be fair, this is probably one of those games that can't be done as well on any other console.
