UTV Ignition's self-promoted AAA challenger BlackLight: Tango Down will be released on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow.
The game costs 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20/€14.40), but the message is that you're saving 30 quid on a comparable "AAA retail behemoth" - the drum is really being banged that hard.
In bullet points, Tango Down is a first-person shooter set in the future that has four single-player or co-op missions, 12 multiplayer maps, several game types and "trillions" of weapon combinations.
There's a film in development as well as a comic and a novel, and UTV Ignition is convinced BlackLight will become one of the next "major entertainment properties".
Watch out, Halo, you're about to be Tangoed.
PC and PS3 versions of BlackLight: Tango Down will follow in "the coming weeks".

Monster Hunter may be the hottest franchise in Japan now. Two weeks ago, the series made its debut on Xbox 360. Capcom ported their PC game, Monster Hunter Frontier to Microsoft’s console.
And its launch surpassed the expectations of Takashi Sensui, Head of Japan’s Xbox Division. Famitsu caught up with Sensui and brought up the game’s favorable reception. “Yes, sales are greater than we anticipated,” Sensui replied.
The number of online players reached a new record high three days after Monster Hunter Frontier Online was released. All of these new Xbox 360 accounts require an Xbox Live Gold subscription, which also means Microsoft has a handful of new Xbox Live members in Japan.

Unencumbered by legacy Xbox support, this year's Xbox 360 Dashboard update promises to be a big one. And while E3 may have been a bust for those of us eager to learn about the bi-annual update, we are getting some information piecemeal, starting with last week's Hulu Plus announcement and now, this week, we have Destination Arcade, a "brand new recommendation engine & visual browser app" coming to Xbox 360s ... next week!
There's not much information on the new browser app, but we do know you'll be able to sort by price and community rating, find out about "the latest arcade releases through a news feed" (sort of like this one!) and, seemingly replacing a piece of pre-New Xbox Experience functionality, the ability recommend games to friends and see which games your friends have recommended.

Microsoft's suggestion for how to pass those hot summer afternoons: spend 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), repeatedly. The company released the official dates and prices for the XBLA games in this year's Summer of Arcade promotion -- or, rather, dates and price, since they all share the aforementioned 1200 MSP price tag.
Like last year's Summer of Arcade, purchasing all five games in this year's lineup entitles the buyer to a 1200-point rebate (essentially buy four, get one free). Additionally, if you buy three of the five, you'll get 400 MSP back! As for the release schedule:
Limbo: July 21
Hydro Thunder Hurricane: July 28
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair: August 4
Monday Night Combat: August 11
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light: August 18

Mark Rein, vice-president of Unreal and Gears of War studio Epic Games, claims the industry should not "discount" Kinect and Move. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at last week's GameHorizon conference, he stressed that it was early days for Microsoft and Sony's motion controllers.
"Wait until you see what people are going to do with these things," he said. "We're involved tangentially in both technologies actually. The Kinect adventures game is Unreal Engine 3 and that sorcery game that Sony has, that's also Unreal Engine 3. So we have Sony and Microsoft, first-party, both doing cool things with our technology and I wouldn't discount anything."
However, he claimed that Kinect may be just the first move in a wider motion control gambit by Microsoft.
"There's no doubt in my mind that Kinect is very much an experiment to see where they should go with this stuff. I mean, this device [a prototype Android tablet] has a camera. If you had the rest of the Kinect sensors on here, this'd be great. You could prop this down on a little stand, and play Dance Central right here. What would be wrong with propping this on the table and standing here in an environment with friends and doing a dance?"
Having also spent much of the interview endorsing mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad, he claimed the future of gaming was not heading down separate paths.
"I don't think you should draw the conclusion that these things mean you can't have Kinect or Move. It's nothing to do with that. You could have controllers for these. You could eventually have all kinds of experiences on portable environments. It's just a computer. This is just another kind of computer. Just like your Xbox is a computer, your PC is a computer...
"Who knows, maybe the future of Kinect is on your laptop? In fact I think that Microsoft already publicly said that they were going to do something with motion tech cameras on laptops. One of the things that they can do is recognise your face. There are other portions of Move and Kinect that I think have been a little bit overlooked right now, that will eventually come into play."
Having referred to Move's raygun-like Shooting Attachment as "absolutely brilliant", Rein was then coy as to his preferred favourite motion controller.
"Don't believe everybody's nonsense about what one thing can do versus the other," he said. "You can have that with Kinect, you can have a gun. If you had a gun with a distinct look to it, even a shape, or a light on the end or something, Kinect would recognise that device just as well as Move can. Maybe even better."
The outspoken VP also stressed that, though much of the industry was in a state of some alarm due to declining hardware and software sales, he was hugely optimistic about gaming's future.
New payment models and increasing mobile hardware power would soon lead to "$20 million iPhone games," he claimed. "I'm just generally excited about the industry as a whole, so many opportunities."

While Microsoft may be counting on Kinect appealing to the mass market crowd with its motion controls, family games and exercise apps, analyst firm DFC Intelligence says it feels the device "is somewhat limited" and will "struggle" to broaden 360's horizons beyond its hardcore following.
"The Xbox 360 clearly needs to diversify beyond the core first-person shooter audience. At E3 it was clear that Kinect is not designed for the hard-core game consumer. Microsoft is putting almost all its eggs into the Kinect as a way to appeal to the 'casual' consumer and expand its user base," says a DFC report.
"Unfortunately, based on what we have seen, DFC continues to feel that Microsoft is going to struggle to expand beyond its core audience," it adds. "The Kinect technology is cool, but in practical terms we feel it is somewhat limited. There are questions about how the technology captures non-lateral movement, and there is the lack of complex control options."
It notes that a lack of complex controls isn't a deal breaker for the line of simple games MS has shown for it, but there are other issues. "Almost every time Microsoft has tried to emulate successful entertainment products they have failed," says the report.
"Of course, the biggest exceptions have been some of their work in PC gaming prior to the Xbox and then the Xbox platform itself. However, in both these cases the appeal was to a fairly high-end niche of dedicated gamers."
It later goes on to add: "With MSN and casual games Microsoft was able to attract a fairly large and diverse audience, but these products were free. We don't know the price of the Kinect, but it is definitely not free. An Xbox 360 with a Kinect is likely to cost as much as an annual membership at the local YMCA." Or a fair amount more, we'd say.
Widespread speculation and various retailer postings put Kinect at between £100 and £130.

July 6th, 2010, 23:11 Posted By: wraggster
Xbox product director Aaron Greenberg has promised that there are many more Xbox 360 exclusive games coming next year - and that the pipeline of new 360 software is "full"
360 fans still have Crackdown 2, Fable 3, Halo: Reach and Gears of War 3 to look forward to in 2010 - but Greenberg told CVG sister site OXM that MS already has one eye on 2011.
"I think you've seen what we're doing with [exclusives like Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, Mass Effect et al] adding what's different to what's already there," he said, "and we'll continue to invest and grow our core game line-up."
"We know that that is the heart of our business, that is what allows us to fund and grow and innovate in new ways, and so that'll be important in 2011 just as it was for us in 2010."
We can look forward to more exclusive hardcore games in future, then, asked OXM? "Absolutely."
"My team signs deals with partners every week... obviously it takes years, and games take years to develop. But the pipeline is full and so we feel very confident in our ability to continue to do that, and I think what we've seen is that people know - they've seen our success globally, they've seen the success of Live."
"The response to Kinect at the show and the new consoles is just building more confidence in our partners to want to work with us in the future and so we feel like we're well set up for success."
So he's pretty confident for next year's E3 already? "Absolutely. Yes."

It’s only been on retail shelves for a month, but Sega has already confirmed that it won’t be publishing a sequel to Obsidian’s latest RPG release Alpha Protocol.
The game was released on May 28th and wasn’t that well received by reviewers, managing an average of just 63 per cent (on Xbox 360) on reviews aggregation site Metacritic.
“Let's speak very commercially; the game hasn't sold what we've expected, therefore we won't be doing a sequel,” Sega West president Mike Hayes told CVG. “The concept was brilliant, though.
“You know this whole thing with Metacritic where you have to be in the high 70s to mid-80s minimum [to have any success]. Well, with RPGs you have got to be in the late 80s. Whilst we had a good game, I don't think we had a game that had enough to get us to that upper echelon and I think that was the issue.
“The amount you need to invest to get there is so large because RPGs are naturally big projects. We've decided we won't do a sequel.”

Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono has hinted towards his next project, teasing that it's 'bigger than Street Fighter IV'.
The Capcom man said via Twitter: "Super SF4 on sale!! SuperSF4 is nothing compared to what's coming!!"
That's right, one of the greatest beat 'em up titles ever will be reduced to nothing when this new title hits the shelves. Big claim.
What mammoth game could it be? Well, when Ono was asked whether or not it was a Darkstalkers sequel he replied, "I'm left speechless yet..... Shhhh." So it's Darkstalkers then, yeah?
Capcom announced that it will be making a 'big announcement' on Thursday earlier today via Twitter, so all will probably be revealed then.

Copy DVD is working fine, but skin needs some work.
In the profile tab, the gamertag is misaligned.
HTTP downloader is 100% stable, all of my content seems to get scanned fine ( i got lots of extracted games and xbla games. GOD and homebrew should list fine too, will test later.
About the SVN log not working anymore, it seems like there some issue with our website, just go to http://trac.teamfsd.com/log and you'll see whats going on.

Although Microsoft didn't provide specific sales figures (per usual), the company claims it's seeing "unprecedented demand" from retailers for its new Xbox 360 console. In a statement released following May's NPD results, Microsoft claimed a "significant sales spike" for its new Xbox 360 250GB "short" model, along with its older Arcade and Elite units (which both received a $50 price reduction).
The new console hit US store shelves around June 14. As for the sales spike's impact on the June NPDs (which will be released next month), Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter stated in his analysis of May's results: "We think that the boost in June hardware sales could allow June software sales to approach flat, notwithstanding a lackluster release schedule."

60 per cent of gamers who subscribe to Xbox Live do so primarily to play Call of Duty, Activision Blizzard's head honcho Bobby Kotick has said.
And now Kotick wants to make money out of them.
"We've heard that 60 per cent of [Microsoft's] subscribers are principally on Live because of Call of Duty," Kotick told the Financial Times.
Microsoft charges £39.99 for a 12-month UK Xbox Live Gold subscription, which enables Call of Duty owners to play the shooter online.
Kotick said: "We don't really participate financially in that income stream. We would really like to be able to provide much more value to those millions of players playing on Live, but it's not our network."
Activision's phenomenally successful Call of Duty series has throughout its existence done the business primarily on home consoles.
Kotick wants that to change.
"[Consoles] do a very good job of supporting the gamer," Kotick said. "If we are going to broaden our audiences, we are going to need to have other devices."
Kotick said Activision Blizzard will "very aggressively" support devices that connect PCs to tellys.
Kotick's mentioned broadening Call of Duty's audience before, of course.
Last month he told the Wall Street Journal COD fans were "clamouring" for an MMO-style experience.
"I would have Call of Duty be an online subscription service tomorrow," he said.
For now, though, Call of Duty remains a successful traditional packaged goods product.
Call of Duty: Black Ops, due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 9th November, is expected to be 2010's biggest game.

Someone was murdered in Red Dead Redemption every six minutes during the first two weeks of the game's release.
That means there were a whopping 132,904,068 murders in total, according to Rockstar-released stats gathered by GameSpy.
Those numbers deduced that every RDR player has been run over five times.
RDR witnessed 15,072,596 executions in those two weeks. That's 15,000 times the amount of real people executed in the United States since 1975.
In-game soldier deaths amounted to 13,250,327 - a number equal to the Soviet and American deaths of World War II combined.
Slightly more uplifting figures recorded were 5,773,917 hats shot off during duels, $3bn spent in-game, 8.6 litres of alcohol drunk on average by characters and 300,000 miles travelled by train. That last number equates to travelling around the world 12 times.
The most hunted animal were deer, which lost 28 million of their species.
To accrue all of that, you spent 14 million hours playing the game. You'd need to play for 3710 years on your own to reach such dizzying numbers.

Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian has said it wants to make a "disruptive" game that advances the openworld genre in a way that its peers so far have not.
"One of the things that we think about games like inFamous, Prototype and Grand Theft Auto - not to denigrate them in any way - is that they're all doing the same sort of thing," producer James Cope told IGN.
"We're going to do something to really bring the genre forward."
Creative director Billy Thomson said a key word for the Dundee-based studio's next game is "disruptive".
Crackdown has "got one foot in reality and one foot in complete madness," he said. "What we would like to do in the next project is go further in that direction and go completely nuts. We think there's a lot that can be done with our engine."
There's no word yet on whether that game will be a sequel to Crackdown 2, which is due out this Friday, 9th July in Europe and will be reviewed on Eurogamer today.
However, Ruffian senior engineer Neil Duffield offered an indication of the team's thinking when he spoke to Digital Foundry last weekend.
"We managed to increase the NPC crowd count by around a factor of eight from CD1 to CD2, so who knows what we will have for Crackdown 3," he mentioned casually in answer to one of our tech guru's questions.
