There have been nearly half a dozen Idolmaster titles in the past five years. But, it looks like the franchise is finally ready to jump to the big number 2. Andriasang reports that a new Idolmaster for Xbox 360 -- Idolmaster 2 -- will be coming your way in 2011. A new trailer (which we sat through in public for you) was also released via the game's official website.
Apparently, this time around, players will be tasked with turning three Idols into national hits. Characters from the first Idolmaster, as well as characters from Idolmaster SP and a couple new Idols, will be making up the game's roster, and everyone is said to have aged by one year. Little else is known about the sequel at the moment, but if you want to sing along to some bubblegum J-Pop

Rare has revealed that Xbox Live Arcade game Perfect Dark will work with Crackdown 2.
Specifically, when Perfect Dark detects a Crackdown 2 saved game, character Agent 4 will be unlocked for the multiplayer modes.
Agent 4 is a "black-suited gun nut", according to Rare's website. There's a picture of him there, too.
Crackdown 2 is released in Europe next Friday, 9th July. The game's exclusive to Xbox 360.
Perfect Dark - an Xbox 360 recreation of the N64 game for Live Arcade - appeared back in March.

No need for a fanciful new HDTV? Not even a new Segway? There's some colorful home entertainment gear for you yet. The famed gadget painting company just announced that Microsoft's shiny new Xbox 360 is the next to go under the gun, with near limitless color options waiting to be splashed onto each and every panel. If you managed to already pick one up, Colorware's charging $175 for the send-in option; if you're looking to buy new, that'll cost you at least five Benjamins. But hey, that's nothing for the satisfaction of owning a game console that's part orange, part lime green and part purple, right?

An Xbox 360 MMO is the number one game in Japan, where Microsoft's console generally struggles.
The game is Capcom's Monster Hunter Frontier Online, which sold 93,000 units for the week ending 27th June.
It beat Konami's DS title Love Plus +, Atelier Totori: Alchemist of Arland 2 from Gust, and Konami's Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side 3rd Story.
Monster Hunter Frontier Online - a port of the original 2007 PC game - comes with a free 12-month Xbox Live Gold membership and a code for 30 days of online play. Continue playing after that point and you'll have to pay around £10 a month.
The Monster Hunter franchise is huge in Japan, so it comes as no surprise to see Frontier Online do well there. But the series has traditionally enjoyed success on Sony's PlayStation Portable, which allows fans to hunt those monsters on the move.
There's still no word on a Western release.

Over $156 million were spent on Xbox 360 software during the month of May, upping the attach rate of games to Microsoft's console to 8.9.
Read Dead Redemption was the biggest title of the month, with over 945,000 units sold on the Xbox 360 compared to more than 567,000 on the PlayStation 3. THQ's UFC 2010 also sold better on 360, with Remedy's exclusive Alan Wake and EA's Xbox version of Skate 3 also charting in the top ten.
According to Microsoft, consumers spent $254 million on Xbox 360 hardware, software and peripherals during May. Looking forward, the company stated that retail is feeding back positive demand for the new slim Xbox 360 SKU.
"We are hearing great feedback from retailers that the new Xbox 360 250GB is experiencing unprecedented demand," said the company.

An Xbox 360 demo for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days should be available today in North America and the UK -- though access requires a code. Previously presented as a UK and Ireland promotion, there are apparently ways to obtain demo codes even if you live on the other side of the pond.
Options include:
Visiting KaneandLynch.com
Checking the Xbox Live Dashboard "soon" for a chance to get an unlock code. Update: Text 725-79 with the words "dog days"
Sending a message to the 1UP "KaneLynch2" profile
Up-to-the-minute info is available at the "Exclusive Demo Forum" on the Kane & Lynch 2 site. Does this whole thing seem a bit chaotic to you, too? It's Kane and Lynch -- nothing ever seems to go according to the plan.

Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski reckons that gamers are increasingly suspicious of games that try to set themselves up as trilogies.
"You can never put gamers on the defence faster than saying, 'This is a trilogy'," the Gears of War 3 designer told Eurogamer TV at E3 last month.
"If I went up on the EA press conference with Adrian [Chmielarz] and Tanya [Jessen] and was like, 'Here's this new game we're doing, it's called Bulletstorm, it's going to be a trilogy,' the gamers would have been like, 'F*** you', right?
"They'd be like, 'Show me a good game first and then we'll talk about buying a sequel.'"
Bleszinski was introducing us to Gears of War 3's Beast mode, which you can read about in more detail elsewhere on the site, but he also fielded questions about subjects as diverse as his relationship with the press and his thoughts on iPad (he's "completely sold on it"), Kinect and downloadable content.
"Personally I'm a fan of DLC that takes risks," he told Eurogamer TV.
"I think the DLC that's been the biggest success in the past have been the ones that have been consistent, like every so many months, like Borderlands or Fallout.
"And they also play with the formula a little bit, you know - like Fallout adding in giant robots and UFOs, that doesn't feel like it was on the cutting-room floor.
"Those are the things I'm a big fan of. I'd love to do something completely crazy but who knows what's actually going to be possible."

Market research firm DFC Intelligence has suggested that Kinect will have a "negligible impact" on the Xbox 360's sales and that the console "has some good years left, but the platform is clearly on the downside of its lifecycle."
A monthly briefing by the company forecasts that the Wii and Xbox 360 will see a gradual slowdown in sales over the next two years, but with the PlayStation 3 enjoying an increase on a worldwide basis.
Although the briefing note is sceptical on the "overall vision for 3D in gaming", at least for systems which require glasses to be worn, greater concern is voiced over Microsoft's plans for the Xbox 360 and Kinect.
"Based on what we have seen, DFC continues to feel that Microsoft is going to struggle to expand beyond its core audience," said the briefing note.
"With Kinect, Microsoft is trying to follow after what has worked for other companies," said DFC. "There are numerous problems with this approach, but the biggest problem is Microsoft, at its core, is simply not an entertainment company."
"Almost every time Microsoft has tried to emulate successful entertainment products they have failed," said the company in a scathing attack. "With MSN and casual games Microsoft was able to attract a fairly large and diverse audience, but these products were free. We don’t know the price of the Kinect, but it is definitely not free."
The analysts did note however that the major exception to this supposed rule is Microsoft's efforts in PC gaming and the Xbox itself. Although they take time to criticise the acquisition of UK developer Rare.
"In its business software, Microsoft has been successful in analysing what works for users of other products and incrementally incorporating those features into Microsoft products. The problem is developing hit entertainment products simply does not follow that model."
"At the end of the day, we see Kinect has having some appeal to a well-heeled fitness audience. In terms of changing the overall videogame hardware platform market share we see it having a negligible impact," said DFC.
"The longer term issue facing the console manufacturers is that the business model of launching a new hardware system every five years simply no longer works," concludes the note.
"Products like Kinect and PlayStation Move are an attempt to get around this dilemma. Unfortunately, we think they are at best a temporary attempt to tackle a much larger strategic issue."
Both Sony and Microsoft have said that this generation of games consoles will remain on the market much longer than previous generations. Last week, Microsoft's Chris Lewis said that he believes Kinect can help the console remain relevant for another five years.

The Xbox 360 beta of upcoming shooter Medal of Honor is "coming soon", EA has promised.
Only those who pre-order the game will be sent invites, although EA has committed to extending the 360 beta to ensure "Xbox 360 players have ample time to play and provide feedback for the final product".
The news comes as the beta enters phase two on PC and PS3.
EA's sent out more invites to PC and PS3 owners, so if you missed out before, now's your chance.
"We would like to extend a gracious thank-you to all of the PS3 and PC players for sharing their candid feedback on Medal of Honor and for pointing out areas of improvement," said executive producer Greg Goodrich.
"This is the beauty of a beta - your feedback will make the game better for everyone.
"Unfortunately, we have experienced a delay with the beta on the Xbox 360. To the Xbox 360 community, we say thank you for your patience. We are working to fix the issues that have caused this delay. We are eager to get the game up and running and look forward to receiving your constructive and candid feedback which will certainly help ensure the game exceeds expectations this fall."
If you're lucky enough to have nabbed a key, redeem it on the official site.
Medal of Honor will launch on 12th October for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Team FBDev released System Ping Check Removal v0.1 for homebrew 360:
[QUOTE]
What is this?
This patch will remove the 30ms check on the key exchange from xbox to xbox over system link. This was known as the "30ms ping limit". It seems that only the client needs the patch.
1) Make sure you have Dashlaunch v1.0 installed.
2) Place Kxam.patch in the root of usb or hdd.
Hopefully this will encourage people to stay off of xbox live with hacked xboxs as there is no real reason for it.
Usage
- FreeBoot 0.032 with DashLaunch 1.0 (kernel 9199)
- An internal harddrive and/or usb stick (check DashLaunch 1.0 readme)
- The file from this release on the root of it (kxam.patch)
- Power up Xlink Kai(info)
- And see you online!
Known Bugs?
None really, its possible some games have internal Pinglimits..
They'll need to be removed by doing MemoryPatches (gametrainer per example).

In 2008, I was involved in an early beta of the new Windows Live Movie Maker, and I interacted with a friendly Microsoft Product Manager for that program. When the Zune HD came out, I started a little email campaign to get Windows Live Movie Maker to support the Zune HD with an optimized output profile - I really wanted to see Microsoft support their own product.
If you look to the left, I've taken a screenshot of the Mobile Device output profiles from the new Windows Live Movie Maker beta (a.k.a. Wave 4), and wouldn't you know it, there are output profiles for the Zune HD device, and the Zune HD 720p profile, for video output via the dock. Sweet!
I'm not claiming credit for this of course - it wouldn't have been added unless many people asked for the same thing - but hopefully my attempts to connect the right person on the Zune team to the right person on the Windows Live Movie Maker team helped move things along. You'll also notice they've added two Windows Phone profiles - another great sign that the Windows Live Movie Maker team is paying attention to what the rest of Microsoft is doing, and making attempts to be in sync.
This has been a historic flaw of Microsoft's; previous versions of Windows Movie Maker were still using 320 x 240 Pocket PC profiles from five years ago. It's like no one on that team was told newer and better devices had come out, and they weren't called Pocket PCs any more.
Unfortunately, the Windows Live Photo Gallery team didn't get the memo - unless I'm mistaken, there's still no way to batch resize (or resize even one photo) to a Zune HD-sized screen or a Windows Phone screen. Since the Zune software will resize the photos upon sync for the Zune HD, this isn't much of a problem - but neither ActiveSync nor Windows Mobile Device Center will resize images today for Windows Phones, so this is a clear oversight. Guess I'll keep using Picasa for that!

June 30th, 2010, 23:22 Posted By: wraggster
Peter Molyneux, head of Microsoft Game Studios, has confirmed that little-seen Kinect title Milo and Kate is "a full product", but admits that it has at times proven difficult to convince Microsoft about the project.
Opening the second day of the GameHorizon conference in Gateshead, he said "Milo has been a really hard thing to do and a really hard thing to describe. I have real sympathy for the [Microsoft] people over in Redmond, because they understandably have some questions.
"The biggest challenge for us is convincing people what we're doing is actually going to work, is going to reach a new audience, is going to be an idea that people love. That for me is a massive challenge. Convincing people what you're doing is something that can change the world."
Responding to GamesIndustry.biz's query about the project's status following yesterday's comments (later retracted) by Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg that it was still a "tech demo," he was adamant that it was not in any danger.
"Poor Aaron Greenberg - he's on the PR team, he hasn't seen it since last year, so he came up with this stock answer that Milo is alive and well and living in Guildford but it's still a tech demo.
"I feel sorry for him, he hasn't seen the game since last year. If I had spent time with him and showed him the game recently, he'd know what was going on."
"All that technology that we showed at E3 last year actually does work," he promised. Added GameHorizon chair Ian Livingstone OBE, "I've seen it. It works, Peter. Honestly."
Molyneux also revealed that he would be finally unveiling Milo's current form at the TEDGlobal conference in two weeks.
"This is a full product that we're working on. It's not going to be released this year for sure, it's not part of the launch line-up - I think it would be inappropriate to be so, it's using Kinect in a very different way which is very sensitive. It is going to be somewhat premiered at this TED talk on Tuesday in two weeks time."
