Microsoft announced today that the oft-delayed updates to their Game Room classic game download service will begin this Wednesday, 5th May.
The update, confirmed in a Twitter post by Microsoft's Major Nelson, will reportedly include seven classics: Super Breakout, Pitfall!, Megamania, Night Stalker, Rack 'Em Up, Realsports Volleyball and Basketball.
We're not entirely sure whether the Wednesday update will apply to the European Game Room as well as the US, but we've sent out a request for clarification.

Bungie has told Halo Reach Beta players to expect problems today, as the Xbox Live trial "is not yet quite fully operational".
Posting on its official site yesterday, the developer said that game performance should've improved in the last 24 hours but eager frag-sters should still expect the odd hiccup.
"The Beta is not quite fully operational, but it should be moving at a pretty good clip now that our online team has applied some technological fixups," it said. "You should still expect suboptimal performance, but you should also now be getting games with relative ease.
"Again, we're not out of the woods just yet. If you experience any problems connecting or getting into games, please let us know about it. Politely, of course. Otherwise, have fun in the Beta!"
The Reach beta went live yesterday alongside an official Halo Reach tutorial.
Anyone out there having problems with it?

Halo fans can today get their hands on the Halo: Reach multiplayer Beta for the first time.
So long as you have a copy of Halo 3: ODST, you can get access to the Beta via Xbox Live in around four hours from now.
Bungie reckons the beta will attract three million players across the globe.
Halo: Reach will be the studio's last game before its all-new IP arrives, published by Activision.
Microsoft reckons that interest in the Beta - which ends on May 19 - will 'reinvigorate' sales of ODST this month.

Kieran Gordon was jailed for six-and-a-half years for at Nottingham Crown Court for attacking a man with an axe in a dispute over an Xbox.
A MAN had his arm chopped open to the bone with an axe in a row over an Xbox.
Lee Evans could not open his hand for six months because of the injury.
It was a year before police caught up with his attacker, Kieran Gordon, arrested after he stabbed a man in the buttocks on September 5 last year.
At Nottingham Crown Court, the 22-year-old admitted two charges of wounding and was jailed for six-and-a-half years.
He was sentenced to a further 12 months, to run concurrently, for possessing the knife.
In relation to the Xbox incident, Judge Dudley Bennett told him: "This was an unprovoked attack on a perfectly innocent man."
The court heard Mr Evans had been staying at a friend's flat in Sneinton when Gordon went round with the Xbox in November 2008.
Mr Evans took the games console after one of his friends agreed to buy it.
The next day Gordon wanted payment or the Xbox back and went to Mr Evans' flat.
Although Mr Evans said he was the "middle man", Gordon said he was owed money and pulled out the axe.
The knife attack was on a man from West Bridgford accused of spiking another man's drink. Gordon got out a knife and stabbed him, causing a one-inch cut.
Adrian Langdale, mitigating, said Gordon came from a normal background and finished school with a number of GCSEs.
"Things went downhill after his first conviction," he said. "He was 16 when he got four years."
Judge Bennett previously sentenced Gordon, of no fixed address, in February 2005.
He gave the defendant four years for stamping on a man's head at a bus stop in Queen Street in Nottingham city centre.
The stamp caused a blood clot on the victim's brain and he was in hospital for a week.
Gordon got a nine-month sentence in March 2009 for possession of an axe.

Well, we knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, right? First things first: Yes, Halo: Reach is apparently running at a full 720p according to Digital Foundry's review of the beta thus far (so many Ps!). And, like Halo 3 before it, the Reach beta achieves a near constant 30 frames-per-second of highly frenetic gameplay, albeit dropping a few every now and then during, um ... explosive situations (let us once again remind you that the game is still in beta).
In fact, aside from the occasional screen tear and a bit of a "ghosting" issue ("frame bending" -- two or more images being blurred together -- can sometimes result in objects on screen not appearing solid, as seen in this image), DF is quite impressed with the beta's visual presentation, not to mention the gameplay. The three pages on the beta go into far more detail than we've dropped into this post, and, well, we've got a lot more Reach to play, so we'd encourage you to read more right here.

A trusted source has told Joystiq that "Harmony of Despair," the title of a recent European trademark, is indeed a Castlevania game. Our source indicates that the game will be a 2D multiplayer Xbox Live Arcade title, featuring six-player co-op and a versus, fighter-style survival mode.
These details follow a recently-pulled post on never know tech, which purported to showcase screenshots of Harmony of Despair. The site described the game as a "Metroidvania" side-scroller, featuring characters from recent Castlevania games. The characters, however, appeared to be rendered as tiny GBA/DS-esque sprites, and the game camera is apparently capable of being zoomed out to reveal entire levels (presumably in place of a map screen; or to show multiple characters in different rooms).
So it looks like we might be getting the long-awaited 2D "high-definition" Castlevania, after all. Although, "just make the GBA sprites really small on the screen" isn't exactly the technique we were hoping for.

Artik from Logic-Sunrise is announcing the upcoming release of FBAnext - a 1080p Arcade Emulator for homebrew 360:
[QUOTE]
With a secret coder (his name will be featured later), we decided to work on FBAnext, the NExtGen version of Final Burn(info) Alpha emulator. I had many goals when I tought about FBAnext : Emulate 100% speed with sound at 60FPS in 1080P graphic filtered these systems :
- Neo-Geo
- CP System I
- CP System II
- CP System III
- Sega
- Taito
Progress is excellent, we play Neo-Geo, CPS I and II, Sega and Taito games in 60FPS, 1080p graphics and filters enabled (HQ3X for the moment). The sound is emulated as 100%. CPS III will be tested tonight. I will move with the interface screenshots Xbox 360 and a video soon. There is still no GUI, it's the next step.
We also wish to help the world of emulators on the Xbox 360. the few emulators do not support 1080P, graphic filters, etc.. Therefore, we suggest downloading the sources when they will be available, to help other developers to code optimized emulators on Xbox 360.
