Well, it looks like the first 64GB Zune HDs landing in customers' hands may not be the biggest Zune news today after all. As proudly announced the ZuneBoards website, the Zune HD -- and all earlier Zunes, although the potential there is a tad more limited -- "have been hacked." While obviously not the first hack of any sort for the devices, this is described as the "first true hack," and it has made the concurrently-released OpenZDK possible. That effectively gives developers "access to everything XNA withheld before," which more or less opens to doors to any type of application that can run on the Zune hardware -- games, emulators, app stores, you name it. Of course, there's not a ton for average Zune users to play with at the moment, but developers can find all they need to get cracking at the source link below.

It may be the core consumers that are currently championing the potential of Microsoft’s Project Natal and Sony’s PlayStation Move – but it could be non-gamers that benefit the most from the new hardware.
Publishers and developers that specialise in fitness titles and other non-games software have said that their chosen genres could be key to the success of the forthcoming motion controllers.
“The non-games sector will benefit more than any other sector from Natal and PlayStation Move,” said Simon Prytherch, managing director of NewU Fitness First developer Lightning Fish Games.
“These devices are suited to non-core audiences. A key feature of these devices is the ability to accurately monitor user performance.
“We will see new ways of interacting and new genres emerging as creative minds get to grips with the technology.”
Avanquest sales director Steve Powell added: “The launch of new hardware will open up the more hardcore gaming platforms to family-based games, and I’m sure we’ll see self-improvement titles amongst these.
“There will be plenty of buzz around the new hardware releases, which may also encourage hardcore gamers to try something different.”
Firms are already looking to tap into the Wii Fit market on other platforms.
EA is developing the next EA Sports Active title for PS3 and iPhone, while Rare is rumoured to be working on a Natal-based fitness game.

A 23-year-old Connecticut man out on bail for drug and gun charges was arrested after sending threatening messages to a witness across Xbox Live. According to the New Haven Register, Anthony Hayward allegedly sent an Xbox Live message, stating "Rats die slow" and including the witness's home address, in December.
The previous summer, Hayward had been arrested after a stolen gun was found under the passenger seat of the car he was driving. The witness stated that Hayward placed it there. Hayward surrendered himself to police Tuesday and was charged with "witness tampering, intimidating a witness and two counts of second-degree harassment."
The judge set bail for this latest offense at $50,000. We set ourselves to facepalm.

Ilan Spillinger, Microsoft's Xbox 360 VP, was on hand in Tel Aviv yesterday for a showcase of Project Natal. Although there wasn't much in the way of groundbreaking stuff, the resulting video does show off the motion control system's gender recognition (done through Natal's facial recognition ... you filthy child) and ability to track two players within the frame at the same time. A tipster from the audience tells us that earlier lag issues have been eradicated, although some jitter was indeed apparent when the second person stepped into Natal's field of vision. Either way, it's looking like Microsoft's Xbox 360 peripheral is progressing well toward its release near the end of this year. Go past the break to see for yourself.

Kotaku reports that four more key staff have left Infinity Ward, including the last remaining lead designers of Modern Warfare 2.
The designers, Steve Fukuda and Zied Rieke, had been with Infinity Ward since its inception, and Fukuda had arrived with founders Jason West and Vince Zampella from their former home at Medal of Honor developer 2015.
According to Kotaku's sources, programmer Rayme Vinson and lead artist Chris Cherubini also left the Activision-owned developer yesterday.
They follow four other high-profile departures, including designers Mackey McCandlish and Todd Alderman, Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer lead.
All eight had long histories with the studio. In its messy divorce with West and Zampella, Activision has now lost all four credited lead designers of Modern Warfare 2: Fukuda, Rieke, Alderman and McCandlish. Jason West was the director of the smash hit game.
Activision told Gamasutra earlier this week that it retained a "deep bench of proven talent" at the studio.
West and Zampella announced the formation of a new studio, Respawn Entertainment, this week. It's not known if any of their former colleagues will be joining them yet.
"We're literally turning on the email, setting up the website, and tonight we'll hopefully be reading a lot of resumes and figuring out where to go from there," the pair told Eurogamer when we interviewed them on Monday evening.

It's fair to say that Activision has a few people gunning for it at the moment, not least its chief rival EA.
Fresh from the victory of signing a major publishing deal with the new studio opened by former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, EA's had another pop at Activision.
The latest dig, from EA's US director of corporate communications, Jeff Brown, comes after Activision said it expects to be quids in during the first quarter of 2010 thanks to the "record breaking" success of Modern Warfare 2's Stimulus pack DLC.
Referring to Activision's announcement, Brown told IndustryGamers:
"This is kind of like announcing: The race horse I shot last month has won the Triple Crown!"
Another two members of the Modern Warfare 2 team bailed on Infinity Ward and Activision today, meaning the number of walkouts since early March is now in double figures, which certainly isn't a joke for the Call of Duty maker.

Supermarket ASDA will from midnight tonight offer Ubisoft’s Xbox 360 release Splinter Cell: Conviction for just £29.71.
In addition, MCV was told by the North London branch we contacted to confirm the price that we were free to pick up the game right away, several hours ahead of its official UK release date at midnight tonight.
Supermarket price slashing is common on the UK High Street, though this is the first time since November’s Modern Warfare 2 that a title has been targeted for significant day one discounting.
Recent releases such as God of War III, Just Cause 2, Final Fantasy XIII, BioShock 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 proved immune to such treatment. However the market appeal of Sam Fisher has seemingly proved appealing enough to retail so as to trigger off a new round of price slashing.
UPDATE: Amazon has now matched Asda's price and is offering the game for £29.71 online

News via http://team-xecuter.com/xecuter-lt-c...robe-2-update/
We have been extremely busy these past few weeks, so we figured we'd give you one big update to keep you up to speed with whats going on at the Xecuter factory.
1. Xecuter LT Clip
After a great deal of brainstorming we are pleased to finally announce the perfect solution for all Liteon DVD drives. Utilizing a completely innovative design we have been able to create a special clip that simply plugs onto the Liteon PCB with no wires, no solder and no conductive glue. Simply make your MRA hack trace cuts and connect the Xecuter LT Clip - that's it. We have even included a continuity tester into the circuit. Push a button and if its a Red LED = Bad Trace Cuts, a Green LED = Good Trace Cuts The Xecuter Clip has been designed to work with both the new CK3 Probe 2 and also the new LT Switch 2. Available at the end of April.
2: LT Switch 2
The latest design in the best selling LT Switch series of products. The LT Switch v2 goes hand in hand with the LT Clip. Once the clip is installed you simply plug the LT Switch v2 into the the DVD drive via its own special DVD Power cable. Note: This does not replace the LT Switch v1.5, it operates the same as the current LT Switch v1.5 which includes the essential Multi-R feature for those difficult 93450 drives - it is designed specifically for the users who don't want to do any soldering or have to take any major risks with their DVD drive. It doesn't get any easier than this !
3. CK3-CP Update
The long awaited CK3-CP is in its final stages of development. Now includes complete Jungle Flasher integration with full LCD output and its own custom designed menus. Imagine just a couple of button presses would connect to the Liteon drive, auto eject to half tray, auto power cycle to vendor mode and then dump / write the firmware. The first completely functional unit to be designed for all your 360 DVD needs - and much much more. This is the crowning jewel in the CK3 line of products so expect many more updates in the next couple of weeks. For more information on the CK3-CP, it has its own forums here.
4. NAND-X JTAG Update
We have been doing some further development with JTAG to improve the connections and stability on various different motherboard types and scenarios. After been given 37 different motherboards that all had issues of RROD or intermittent failures - we are pleased to tell you that after several revisions, additions and design changes to the JTAG kit (very different from the first pictures we showed you), each and every single one now works with no errors. We have put a lot of effort into making sure that any type of JTAG kit from us is commercial grade and tested as such, and not just a couple of pcb's with wires and diodes - that simply will not work on a universal scale.
We have put together a bunch of test kits for final analysis by several of the scenes best known JTAG'ers and they will put them through every scenario before they are given the GO for production. This is how its done when the product isn't rushed !
5. CK3 Probe 2 Update
After taking great care in its development, the new CK3 Probe 2 has been receiving rave reviews. thanks to the co-operation of the JF Team, it is the first and only product of its kind to offer Full Read and Write on all model Liteons (including the Winbond Chipset) without the need to solder in any rebuild PCB, the first and only one of its kind to have dual Probe v1 and MRA function all in one device, not to mention the essential Multi-R feature for stubborn 93450 DVD drives and a circuit protection system when in Probe v1 mode. For the bulk users who want a fast, all-in-one, reliable solution this is the only option for Liteon drives. You can either solder the MRA trace cuts or use conductive glue and have no soldering at all - its your choice.
6. and finally.......XFRAG Update
We get asked a lot about this Due to all the new projects the XFRAG got kinda put on the back burner. Apologies to those who have waited a long time for us to release. Just to let you know it was sent to our packaging partners for final retail design. Won't be long now lol

Scuba156 from Team Xbox1Crew released $systemupdate Remover:
[QUOTE]
Got bored so i decided to make something. This will remove the '$SystemUpdate' Folder within a game folder, or do a batch and search multiple folders and remove the '$SystemUpdate' folder in each.
example: "C:\games" will search each game in the games folder and remove '$SystemUpdate'
or
"C:\games\Modern Warfare 2" will only search the "Modern Warfare 2" folder
I have included all files required to run, if it doesnt run, try installing .Net 3.5

AS today is the last full day you'll get a chance to enjoy Halo 2, Bungie has apparently gone and pulled the joke lever. In preparation for tonight's festivities, we went online to download all of the extra maps for the game and get a round of practice in, only to find a few peculiar messages -- like the self-esteem booster you see above.
For the most part, the messages are pretty jovial, though there are a few odd ones that take it a bit too far.

Microsoft has a new Xbox 360 Elite Value Pack for Japan. The last bundle came with Ace Combat 6 and Lost Planet Colonies. An upcoming package has Forza Motorsport 3 and Bayonetta.
The news leaked out from a Japanese retailer which has the bundle in their online catalog. The price? 29,000 yen ($310). Bayonetta and Forza Motorsport 3 are full price games in Japan too retailing for over 7,000 yen a piece ($75). Not a bad deal, but will Japan bite?

French games site Jeux Video believe that Ubisoft’s upcoming Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will support Natal on the Xbox 360. Citing unnamed sources, they report the game includes a special mode that takes advantage of Natal’s motion-recognition capabilities. The goal, allegedly, is to be able to play the game using a controller in one hand, while using your free hand to interact with the interface, part of which involves giving orders through hand gestures.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is a multiplatform game across PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Since the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are both being developed at Ubisoft Paris, it should be interesting to see whether the team includes support for the PlayStation Move as well, as the game is scheduled to release this holiday season, by which time both Move and Natal will be out in the hands of consumers.

A few days after an untimely leak on Xbox Live, Epic Games has now officially announced Gears of War 3 for next April. Details are scant (though Edge speculates on possible new gameplay features), but it will contain 4-player co-op and be an Xbox 360 exclusive. A trailer was released for the game, and designer Cliff Bleszinski had this to say:
"When we released Gears of War more than three years ago, we set out to tell the world an unforgettable story of bravery and sacrifice in the face of insurmountable odds, and a year from now, players will get the chance to experience the final chapter in the story of Marcus Fenix and his companions in Delta Squad. This is definitely the biggest and most dramatic chapter yet in the Gears of War saga, and we can't wait to deliver it."

Take heed, original Xbox owners – today is the last day that you’ll be able to take your console online.
At midnight tonight Microsoft will permanently turn off the lights for one of the most pioneering online console services the world has ever seen. The move will also see online access for original Xbox games played via Xbox 360 permanently blocked.
Microsoft has taken the decision, it has previously said, so as to allow it to further develop Xbox Live for 360 owners.
With original machines still connected, the platform holder is unable to make a host of changes users have been clamouring for – including upping the maximum number of people that can be on a single Friends list (the current limit is 100).
MCV’s fondest memories of playing Xbox online include the (at the time) groundbreaking Halo 2, the sublime Project Gotham Racing 2 and LucasArts’ multiplayer romp Star Wars: Battlefront.
