With its 2012 release state still mostly under wraps, Microsoft has said that it is focusing on the quality of possible new IPs as opposed to the quantity.
"I do think that it's [about] quality and impact, not number of releases in a year," corporate VP of Microsoft Game Studios Phil Spencer told GameInformer magazine, as reported by GameZone.
"Creating core IP, as many first-and third-parties have seen over the years, isn't an easy thing. I went through the process of creating Gears with Epic and I know the sweat, time, and effort hat went into it.
"I also worked on things like Alan Wake, Too Human, Crackdown, and stuff that didn't hit the same level of success, but had an equal amount of sweat equity and heart go into getting created."
Spencer also suggested that consumers should be prepared for some exciting news in the near future.
"It will continue to be something that we focus on with new partners like Crytek and new people that aren't announced yet,” he added. “We do think that it's fundamental that core gamers look at 360 as the place they want to play games."

The new Argos catalogue released this weekend has dated Kinect Star Wars for April in the UK.
The Xbox 360, which blends Jedi action with motion control, game was originally included as part of Microsoft’s Christmas 2011 release slate but it was delayed to this year for further development time.
When contacted by MCV, a Microsoft spokesperson said: “Kinect Star Wars is currently dated for a Spring 2012 release. We’ll have more to announce soon.”
It’s not unusual for retailers to guess at release date – and the issue is particularly tough for Argos, which only publishes two catalogues a year.
MCV understands that further announcements about Kinect Star Wars are expected in the near future.

In a somewhat cruel coincidence, the world’s best Modern Warfare 3 player may also be the man responsible for the lion’s share of the game’s piracy.
Kim Dotcom (born Kim Schmitz) posted a video online showing that his Xbox 360 user account MEGARACER is the highest rated in the world on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
The irony, of course, is that the site he founded was arguably responsible for sharing more illegal copies of the game than any other.
Dotcom’s file-sharing portal Megaupload was last week closed by US authorities following accusations of piracy.
Today it was revealed that the German has been denied bail in New Zealand, where he was arrested in his mansion last week.
Bloomberg reports that the arrest itself was not straightforward, with police having to cut their way through electronic locks to detain Dotcom, who had hidden himself in a safe room with a shotgun.
The authorities also claim that Dotcom had in the region of NZ$11m scattered across various accounts, as well as a fleet of luxury cars including a Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe. Other cars had personal registration plates saying ‘God’, ‘Stoned’ and ‘Guilty’.
One wall of his mansion is said to contain a large graffiti-style painting of Dotcom and his wife and seven 60” TV screens.

Predicted to overtake iOS and push it into third place with Nokia's help.
Microsoft's Windows Phone OS has just been given a new lease of life thanks to Nokia, and both firms will be hoping the partnership proves to be a bountiful one against market leaders Android and iOS.
It turns Microsoft and the Finns have nothing to fear, according to analyst IHS iSuppli. It says that with Nokia's assistance – namely the launch of the Lumia 900 in March 2012 – Windows Phones will see a year-on-year shipment increase to hit 16.7 per cent in 2015 and push iOS down to 16.6 per cent.
So it's not much of a lead, but nevertheless it is still a lead and it's a stark contrast from shipments in 2011, which was 1.9 per cent Windows Phone compared to 18 per cent iOS.
The report says that 2012 will begin the growth for WinPho, with shipments rising to nine per cent followed by 15.3 per cent in 2013 and it's expected that Nokia will account for half of all WinPho devices sold this year.
Meanwhile Android shipments continue to lead the way, growing from 47.4 per cent in 2011 to 58. 1 per cent in 2015.

The co-op demo for Syndicate launches on Xbox Live in North America and Europe on January 31, while the PlayStation Network version drops the same day in North America, and on February 1 for Europe. The demo covers the "Western Europe" co-op mission, in which you steal blueprints from Cayman Global and assassinate Colonel Enrico Gabron, one of nine co-op challenges in the full game.
Liking the Syndicate page on Facebook begets access to remixed tracks of the original Syndicate soundtrack by Digitalism, Flux Pavillion and Skrillex, which is newsworthy because until just now we thought Skrillex was the singer in some trendy rap-metal band. And possibly a girl. .

While we found a lot of things to like in the last Xbox 360 dashboard upgrade, not everyone was happy after it finally rolled out in early December. We've received word from multiple owners who saw and reported color output problems since the beta began, and today Director of Programming Larry Hryb aka Major Nelson tweeted that the company is "aware of the color space issue w/ some Xbox video apps & are working on a fix". While that should take care of some issues, more recent reports also indicate problems with the HDMI output having HDCP authentication problems with certain TVs or receivers that blocks video output, as well as reports confirmed by Eurogamer that 1080p output appears to be downscaled to 720p internally. We're waiting for a response from Microsoft about these or any other issues and will let you know when we hear more. Let us know if you've noticed anything else in the new Xbox 360 update that needs tweaking in the comments below.

Microsoft apparently intends to speed up its certification procedure for game patches, with the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade release ofMinecraft potentially the first game to feature constant updates.
The claim comes from Paddy Burns, chief technology officer at 4J Studios, the Dundee developer handling the XBLA port of Mojang's PC hit. In an interview, he told us that the initial Xbox release will be a conversion of PC's beta 1.6.6 - released last May, days before the XBLA version was announced at E3.
The plan, Burns said, is for a succession of updates to eventually catch up with version 1.0, the official 'final' release of Minecraft that Mojang developer Markus "Notch" Persson launched at the Minecon event in Las Vegas in November. For that to be possible, Microsoft needs to streamline its famously glacial certification process for game updates - something Burns says the company plans to do.
"Microsoft knows that to do a similar thing that's on PC where they constantly update it, that's a very difficult thing to do on Xbox because you have to go through the full tests," he told us. "But they are quite keen to move towards that - they do see it as the future, so I think we might be the first to do constant updates."
Burns, however, is keen to stress that we shouldn't expect the Xbox 360 release to match the frequency of updates that PC has enjoyed. "I don't think it'll ever come to that," he said, when asked if 4J would be releasing updates on its own terms. "I think that there will always be Microsoft testing involved.
"But the whole turnaround of that testing they're hoping to speed up, so we can maybe roll out very two months. We'll have to see how that goes … I'm really looking forward to it being updated with patches and new features after it's released."
If correct, it's a welcome change of thinking at Microsoft; the pace - or lack of it - of console update procedures has been a source of developer frustration for some time. With PC, mobile and social games doing so much to define, and popularise, the concept of games as services, console platforms are in danger of falling behind the times.
There's a ten-page feature on Minecraft, with input from Burns as well as Mojang's Carl Manneh, Daniel Kaplan and newly crowned Minecraft lead Jens Bergensten, in our latest issue, E237, which is out now. As for an XBLA release date, Kaplan told us: "Microsoft has said late winter, and I have to say the same. Late winter or early spring, something like that.
"Winter in Sweden is very long, so you can expect … just kidding. Late winter."

Microsoft has warned consumers that any websites claiming to be offering access to a Halo 4 beta are fakes.
David Ellis of 343 Industries said on Twitter: "If you see a page claiming to allow you to sign up for a Halo 4 beta be advised, IT'S A FAKE."Microsoft is yet to announce any official plans regarding a beta for the game, which is due for release later this year on Xbox 360, but we wouldn't be surprised if there was one. Crackdown buyers were granted access to Halo 3's beta, while Halo: ODST purchasers gained access to Halo Reach's beta.
Microsoft UK's Xbox entertainment director Stephen McGill has said that "one of the key things with Halo 4 is going back to what made it amazing for people playing the first Halo."

Remember when Microsoft couldn't stop dropping names of companies it was partnering up with to bring media to your Xbox 360? Well, days after CES drew to its natural conclusion, Redmond's gaming division is throwing a few more "locally relevant" names out for users in Canada and Germany. If you live in the cold bit to the north of the United States, you can expect to see Astral Media's Disney XD and Real Sports / Maple Leaf Sports rolling up on your console from today, while German gamers will be able to get teutonic mitts on Mediathek/ZDF at the same time. There's more details in the press release after the break, where Microsoft promises that we've not seen the last of its continued entertainment expansions.

Dave Cutler, the man responsible for Microsoft's Windows NT family of operating systems, is now working in the company's Xbox division.
According to a report on ZDNet, anonymous sources suggested that Cutler had moved from the Windows Azure project that had occupied him for the previous four years, to the Interactive Entertainment Business Software and Services group.
When approached for comment, Microsoft released the following statement:
"Dave is one of our brightest minds and is currently working on projects that will help advance our goals in the consumer space as we continue to grow the Xbox from a game-centric console to a complete home entertainment device."
Microsoft's ambition to own the living room is longstanding, but the Xbox 360 has made confident strides towards realising the goal in the last year.
December's Xbox Live dashboard overhaul shifted the focus of the service towards multimedia content, and the use of apps from content providers like Lovefilm, Last.fm and Sky have increased by 50 per centsince then.
Microsoft's Larry Hyrb (aka Major Nelson) also revealed that the use of Xbox Live video content has increased 140 per cent in one year.
During his CES keynote, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer described a new wave of Xbox Live content for Kinect based on interactive television, the first of which will be Kinect Sesame Street TV.

The Japanese trailer below should give you an idea of exactly what lies in wait.Expect characters from Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive and Bladestorm to put in cameo appearances. The first game in the series scored a middling 6/10 when it arrived in Europe back in 2007."Compared to the innovative excellence of Koei's other battlefield titles like Bladestorm or Gundam Musou, or even just Samurai Warriors 2, Warriors Orochi falls a little short," read Eurogamer's Warriors Orochi review.

The number of people using entertainment apps on Xbox 360 rose 50 per cent last month, Microsoft has revealed.
Xbox Live mouthpiece Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb confirms in a blog post that app usage rose significantly in December compared to the month before. The Metro dashboard update, which brought renewed focus on external video content, was released on December 6.
Hryb goes on to note that entertainment apps were used by 60 per cent of Xbox Live Gold members during December, and that during 2011 as a whole, the number of hours of video watched globally on Xbox 360 rose 140 per cent year on year.
"We are committed to enhancing and expanding our global entertainment offerings on Xbox Live in 2012," Hryb writes. "Moving forward, you can expect to see more of the world's leading entertainment providers coming to Xbox and a continued rollout of entertainment apps."
Canadian users can now download apps from Disney XD and Real Sports, with Mediathek/ZDF now available in Germany.

When other teams just copy others and/or make only business with their chip without bringing something new and/or make news with nothing new... x360Glitchip brings you the FIRST WORLD Corona Ready chip.
As you know Corona (New motherboard revision after Trinity) were not Glitch compatible because the HANA chip had been removed which were needed for Timing through the CLK_STBY Wire.
The x360Glitchip v2 is the first world chip which doesn't need this point, and so become Corona Ready.
Of course, the build.py of the Glitch Hack has to be updated to handle the new CB 13121.
Others functionnalities will be announced soon, cause the x360Glitchip Team doesn't stop here. :-)
