What's it?
It's a simple Linux/Windows tool to search for and download updates for your XBOX360 games directly from your PC (no need of XBOX Live!))
You have simply to select one or more XBOX360 ISOs and the program automatically will get the Media-ID (using ABGX) and will search for the latest available update on the online database of xbuc.net. Then you'll can download it directly using this program, so without the need to open any internet browser or external programs.
What's new/fixed (v3.0 - Linux ONLY):
* Completely rewritten the layout of the GUI (again)
* Now the program's window is resizable so it can fit any screen resolution
* Moved all controls from buttons into menus
* Added keyboard shortcuts to the most important commands
* Now the program saves the settings (input/output folder and modes) and automatically reload them at next startup
* New dependency for the program: gambas2-gb-settings
What's new/fixed (v2.0 - both Windows and Linux):
* Completely rewritten the layout of the GUI
* Now the program will not close automatically
* Batch support: you can now work with more than just one ISO
* Two new options available:
-Silent Mode that performs all operations without asking for user confirmations
-Rename all Mode that prevents overwriting files which are named in the same way

C4E released the iXtreme LT+ v3.0 CFW for the SLIM 0272/0225/0401/1071 Lite-On (Philips-LiteOn DG-16D4S) drives:
[QUOTE]
C4E's iXtreme LT+ in association with Team Jungle & Team Xecuter
Official release of the iXtreme LT+ v3.0 for 0272/0225/0401/1071 slim Liteons
- Support for topology data on AP25 enabled titles. Will correctly answer any ap25 challenge eliminating need for dae.bin to create a backup.
- No need to make new backups everytime dae.bin is updated on console
- Extra support for rare firmwares
Topology Data
When ap25 was first introduced I devised a way of calculating any challenge which I called the silver bullet which I made reference to along time ago.
This was withheld until it was absolutely necessary. It was easier to replay the fixed challenges.
With unique per console ap25 challenges it has become necessary to use the silver bullet.
A series of measurements are taken across the disk. This topology data is then used to calculate a response to any ap25 challenge.
It is very important that the drive used to create the topology data is reliable at reading discs as bad topology data equals bad ap25 responses.
Liteon drives using 0800 v3 seem to be more accurate for this purpose. Only ap25 enabled titles require topology data. Activation of ap25 on older non-ap25 games although technically possible is highly unlikely.
Currently topology data for xgd3 titles are similar and topology data from one xgd3 title will pass on another xgd3 title although this is not advisable.
Per title title topology data is best as there are slight differences between titles and newer titles could have different topology than existing ones.
One liteon to go and four Hitachis. Have a great year everyone.
Thanks go to Team Jungle and all testers for their hard work and efforts in the development process.
Thanks also go to Team Xecuter for their support to this project.

Max Payne creator Remedy Entertainment has praised Rockstar's upcoming take on the series, and said Max Payne 3 looks "brilliant".Remedy boss Oskari "Ozz" Hakkinen told Kotaku he was enthusiastic for the Rockstar-developed threequel, due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March."We absolutely love what they've done and couldn't be more proud of where the series is headed," Hakkinen said."I mean, [Rockstar] don't really make s***ty games, do they?" he continued. "It's as if the Rockstar logo has become this 'seal of quality'."Alan Wake developer Remedy sold the Max Payne rights to Rockstar's parent Take-Two in 2002. The price? $10 million plus company stock.Rockstar previously developed console ports of the original Max Payne for PS2, and Max Payne 2 for PS2 and Xbox.

Busta Rhymes is back in the public consciousness thanks in no small part to Chris Brown's hit Look At Me Now, which features Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne and the most annoying slide-flute synth ever put into a commercial Top 40 hit. What better way to capitalize on the success of this song than by releasing a different, completely unrelated and far less successful song as DLC for your Kinect dancing game?
Busta's 2008 single Don't Touch Me (Throw Da Water On 'Em) hits Dance Central 2 tomorrow for 240 Microsoft Points, featuring choreography by Devin Woolridge and a "Tough" difficulty rating. Let's just hope we don't have to dance as fast as Busta spits his lyrics.

Microsoft has strenuously denied claims that lax security on the Xbox.com website is to blame for the recent spate of Xbox Live account thefts.
"The online safety of Xbox Live members remains of the utmost importance, which is why we consistently take measures to protect Xbox Live against ever-changing threats," the company told us in a statement issued late on Friday. "Security in the technology industry is an ongoing process, and with each new form of technology designed to deter attacks, the attackers try to find new ways to subvert it.
"We continue to evolve our security features and processes to ensure Xbox Live customers' information is secure … There is not a 'loophole' in Xbox.com. The hacking technique outlined is an example of brute-force attacks and is an industry-wide issue."
Last week, network infrastructure manager Jason Coutee discovered that Xbox.com essentially allowed infinite login attempts, requiring that a Captcha code be input for every eight failed logins. That Captcha, however, could be bypassed by clicking a link to try signing in with a different Windows Live ID, which in fact allows users to attempt to log in with the same email address.
While Microsoft is correct in saying that brute-forcing is widespread, Coutee has told Eurogamer that the company has tightened security up behind the scenes.
"Shortly after the Microsoft response, the server over at Xbox.com started handling the brute force script differently," he said. "Before, it would just let you try over and over. But now it seems that, even though I'm still able to use the link to get past the Captcha, they handle the sign-in request on the server in a way that it will stop replying after 20 attempts.
"To me, this seems like they tightened security but didn't make any noticeable changes on the front end so they could discredit me. [The] good news is that at least they lengthened the time it would take to brute-force Live IDs."

January 16th, 2012, 01:45 Posted By: wraggster
It's circa 1999, and I'm in my freshman college dorm room, playing a game on my Windows 98 computer. It uses a clunky CRT monitor that takes up most of my desk, but on that monitor a series of images flashes by -- walls, a floor, a skybox overhead, more walls, more floors. Quickly, there's a flash of an colorful icon on the screen, and in first-person view I bound towards it. Just as I grab the quad-damage and jump off a cliff, an opponent appears in my peripheral. While falling through the air, I instantly move my mouse around just so, click the button, and my rocket lands perfectly alongside the enemy avatar, bursting it into a spray of gory red pixels.
A real-life cry of anguish is heard from down the hall, where my floormate has just had to click to respawn. I smile, and run off to look for more prey.
That's the feeling that made playing Quake 2 so magical back in the day, andNexuiz is a direct descendant of that line. It was originally , and developer IllFonic has now remade the game in CryEngine 3, set for release on Xbox Live Arcade next month. And though the Microsoft booth at CES 2012 is a long way away from my dorm room in both space and time, just a few minutes of gameplay pointed me right back to that formative experience.

Since reporting on the "FIFA hack" and related security concerns with Xbox Live and the Windows Live ID system, we've received stories, documentation and theories on how this is happening from dozens of victims. As we continue to follow up on several leads, Analoghype posits an interesting theory on how some of these breaches may be occurring.
AH suspects that the hackers grab gamertags from a game of Halo or Call of Duty, then Google the tags to find associated emails on social networking sites. They now have a potential list of Windows Live IDs. Going to Xbox.com, the hacker can now test if the email is a valid ID by attempting to sign in. An error message of "account is invalid" has them moving on to another email; "password is incorrect" means they've got a real account, but a bad password.

A network infrastructure manager claims that lax security on the official Xbox website is behind the recent spate of Xbox Live account thefts.
Analog Hype reports that the security flaw was found by Jason Coutee, who had his own account stolen and 8,000 Microsoft Points purchased using his stored credit card details.
When he contacted Microsoft support to notify them he was told that the company would not be able to refund him for the 8000 MSP, but offered to lock his account down and investigate, which could take up to 30 days. He declined, opting to use his professional experience and investigate by himself. A couple of weeks later, he found a hole in Xbox.com security.
It appears that Xbox.com allows an indefinite number of password attempts, requiring only that a Captcha code be input after eight failed attempts. Input the correct Captcha and you get another eight attempts, meaning that by using a password-generating script a hacker can brute-force control of Xbox Live accounts without fear of the account being locked down as a precaution after too many failed attempts.
So, Coutee played a few rounds of Halo: Reach, noted down the Xbox Live gamertags of his opponents, and Googled them in the hope of finding related email addresses. Xbox.com was a help here, as it makes clear whether an email address has an associated Windows Live ID or not after a login attempt.
Coutee attempted to report his findings to Microsoft but claims he was given the runaround, with HQ giving him a support email address, a helpline pointing him to the Xbox.com forums, while Microsoft's piracy and phishing department simply declined to help at all.
We've verified that Coutee's claim about the eight-attempt system is correct, and have sought comment from Microsoft. Whether this is to blame for the recent spate of accounts thefts or not, it's troubling that so large a company, with so much experience in network solutions, is apparently content leaving its back gate on the latch like this.

After years of hearing about Microsoft's poorly hidden plans for offering streaming TV subscriptions through the Xbox 360 (among other devices),Reuters is reporting that those very plans are currently stuck in a holding pattern. According to "people familiar with the discussions," Microsoft built out an infrastructure for delivering television, but upon finding out how much it would cost to deliver currently broadcast-exclusive content, walked away from talks.
"They built Microsoft TV, they demoed it for us, they asked for rate cards but then said 'ooh ah, that's expensive,'" the piece quotes one "senior media executive" as saying with regards to the negotiations. That doesn't mean that the plans are a total wash, just that they're currently not progressing.
Still, some avenues for live television are currently available and coming soon to Microsoft's Xbox 360, including a limited selection from several cable providers, as well as the just announced partnership with Newscorp which will bring Fox News, The Wall Street Journal and more to the console.
Update: Microsoft has issued this statement regarding the Reuters report, "We don't comment on rumors and speculation. Microsoft is committed to working with the world's leading TV and entertainment providers to bring their offerings to Xbox and transform the TV experience with the power of Kinect. We are continuing to launch the more than 40 new entertainment partners we have already announced, including a wide range of live and on-demand TV on Xbox. Moving forward, you can expect to see more of the world's leading entertainment providers coming to Xbox."

There probably isn't a person alive who hasn't, at some point in their life, enjoyed the sight of a ninja flipping out and killing a bunch of dudes. It's universal, like how everyone enjoys warm blankets or shooting firearms. There's a special kind of person, however, that also has an affinity for extreme, debilitating punishment, which is why Ninja Gaiden 3 exists.
NG3's collector's edition, which we first caught wind of last December, includes the game, an art book, a soundtrack, a figure set of Ryu Hayabusa and an eventual murder victim, as well as a download voucher for a four-character demo of Dead of Alive 5. Non-collector's edition pre-orders placed at Gamestop and Amazon will include a code for a two-character demo of DOA5, with Gamestop's demo including Hayabusa and Hitomi, and Amazon's featuring Ayane and Hayate (the four-character version includes both Amazon and GameStop's characters).
The collector's edition will be available exclusively at Gamestop, indicating that Tecmo Koei truly understands the unique relationship it has with its players.

[Shawn] wrote in to share his post outlining the addition of rapid fire to an Xbox 360 controller. He’s going all out with this mod by including a pretty beefy microcontroller. But you get a lot of functionality for that. You can just make out the trimpot below and to the right of the green A button. This tweaks the speed at which your right trigger repeats. Next to the trimmer is an amber LED which indicates whether the hack is enabled or not. The switch to the left of the D-pad simply patches the add-on circuit into the right trigger hardware.
Some might raise an eyebrow when we call the ATtiny85 used here beefy. But considering the job at hand, we’re sure a lot of the lower end of the ATtiny family will work just as well. [Shawn] soldered everything up on a piece of protoboard and removed one of the rumble motors to make room inside the controller. The video after the break is pretty shaky and out of focus, but you can clearly hear him explain how the hack works.
If you’re looking for a rapid fire mod that doesn’t require programming a chip, perhapsyou could just repurpose the PWM from the LED.

Microsoft may have been silent since E3, but some of Halo 4's secrets will be revelaed later this month.
Toy specialists Re:creation will be using the 2012 Toy Fair to show off its new range of game-licensed products, including figures based on the hotly anticipated shooter.
Central to the line-up will be a highly detailed, collectable 14-inch die cast of the Warthog from Halo 4, a glimpse of which can be seen in this teaser ad (pictured).
The company will also be showcasing other die cast models of vehicles and characters from the Halo universe.
Toy Fair is being held at Olympia, London from January 24th to January 26th.
Halo 4 was first announced at E3 last year. It is due for release this year and kicks off a new trilogy in the hugely popular sci-fi FPS series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be supported by at least 20 new batches of downloadable content between now and September.
Referred to as the Modern Warfare 3 Content Season for Call of Duty Elite, the push starts next week with two new mutliplayer maps. Liberation and Piazza will be released on Xbox LIve on January 24th, with PS3 and PC at a later date.
As has been previously announced, all DLC will be made available first to paying subscribers of Call of Duty Elite, the series' new social network. Activision has promised that new content will be released regularly for these members - at least once a month.
Of course, those who have a free Elite membership or aren't signed up to the service will still be able to pick up all downloadable content when map packs are released later in the year - now referred to as Modern Warfare 3 Content Collections.
The next nine months of DLC will include new multiplayer maps, game modes, Special Ops missions and more.
"The mammoth launch of Modern Warfare 3 and the breakout success of Call of Duty Elite were just the beginning," said Activision's publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg.
"The MW3 content season is the ultimate way to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the Call of Duty community and provide tremendous value to Call of Duty Elite premium members.
"We are delivering on our promise of more new content, more often, and with more variety than ever. With three studios collaborating on the first season, the breadth and depth of material on tap is truly extraordinary.

The issue of Chinese human rights has been thrust into the limelight again this morning with news that Chinese workers on an Xbox 360 manufacturing line have threatened their employer with mass suicide.
Kotaku reports that workers at the infamous Foxconn plant were denied a raise and told that they could choose between continuing to work with no pay increase or quitting and receiving compensation.
However, the workers who left then failed to receive any compensation. All 300 staff then took to the roof of the building and threatened to jump, suspending console production.
The group were eventually talked down.
"Microsoft takes working conditions in the factories that manufacture its products very seriously, and we are currently investigating this issue,” a Microsoft spokesperson stated.
“We have a stringent Vendor Code of Conduct that spells out our expectations, and we monitor working conditions closely on an ongoing basis and address issues as they emerge. Microsoft is committed to the fair treatment and safety of workers employed by our vendors, and to ensuring conformance with Microsoft policy."
The Chinese Foxconn plant has sadly become known for the high rate of suicide amongst its workers and has even installed “suicide nets” at its plant to catch those who attempt to jump to their death.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have announced a partnership with Geocaching.com to promote Tomb Raider. What's geocaching, you ask? Essentially, it's a modern day form of treasure hunting, in which participants use GPS to uncover "geocaches" hidden across the globe by other enthusiasts.
Later this year, the promotion promises "a series of unique location-based adventures" in the spirit of Lara's own lust for precious artifacts. The promotion will use a combination of Geocaching.com's own app and "a photo-based adventure project" called Geocaching Challenges from Groundspeak.com. Presumably, would-be tomb raiders will be hunting for objects related to Lara and her adventures, though there's no hint as to what these treasures will be -- we can only hope that scions are involved.

Here's a fun little tidbit from tonight's Seacrest-heavy Microsoft Keynote: turns out that Redmond has moved 18 million Kinect sensors in just over a year, according to the Steve Ballmer's numbers. The news came amidst a few announcements that should help the company push even more of the gesture-based peripherals out the door -- Kinect for Windows, anyone? Of course, this being the company's last CES keynote for the foreseeable future, it'll have to find another convention hall full of people to brag to when it announces the numbers this time next year.
