Battlefield 3 players can expect to get the first news on upcoming DLC for the game next week.
Speaking during EA's quarterly conference call last night, and responding to a question regarding the publisher's DLC strategy, vice president of investor relations Peter Ausnit said (via Seeking Alpha):"We've got plans for all of our major franchises to turn them into more of... games for service that have a constant flow of downloadable content. You're going to hear some announcements from us on Battlefield actually as early as next week in an event we've got in New York."
What would you like to see from upcoming Battlefield 3 DLC? While there's no official word yet on the nature of the content, recent rumourshave pointed towards an All American expansion pack featuring maps based on locations such as New York, Miami, New Jersey and San Francisco.
EA said yesterday that Battlefield 3 and FIFA 12 both topped ten million sales in the three months ended December 31.

There's going to be a lot of DLC for UFC Undisputed 3 -- strangely, not including shirts, despite no UFC fighter ever seeming to have one -- so it's fortuitous that THQ is offering a Season Pass to help you round it up for a little bit cheaper.
The Season Pass, a 1360 Microsoft Points or $16.99 purchase, will include the "Fight of the Night" and "International" Fighter Packs, the "Ultimate Upsets" and "Mixed Bag" Ultimate Fights Packs, playable Alistair Overeem, and the "all unlockables" key to get all the content normally unlocked through gameplay. And if you happen to pre-order from ShopTHQ, this season pass is free. Not a bad deal for a lot of UFC stuff (and THQ could use the money right now).
All this stuff will also be available separately. In addition, there's some DLC that isn't part of the Pass, including the $3 "Create-a-Fighter Boost," which gives you extra points for your custom fighter, and two sets of "Ultimate" fights that are already free at launch. Check after the break for details on each pack.

Every Electronic Arts game over the past two years has included an Online Pass, but the upcoming Syndicate reboot will buck this trend.
This is because the publisher wants more players to enjoy the online multiplayer modes – the sort of feature EA usually locks with a one-time code included in new copies of its games. Second-hand users would have to purchase an Online Pass.
"We want as little resistance or barriers to entry as possible," EA Partners executive producer Jeff Gamon told Eurogamer.
"The co-op is equal billing in this. We wanted everyone who owns a copy of the game to have access to the entire product."
In fact, the online mode is being positioned as a major selling point for the game, hence why EA is keen to ensure all buyers can play online straight out of the box.
Gamon said: "Under normal circumstances it would have had an Online Pass, but because it didn't have competitive multiplayer and because we wanted as many people as possible to be playing co-op, we got away with it.
"Maybe another reason for not having the Online Pass is we were confident in the scope of the online game... To progress your character and upgrade a few weapons is a heap of content. That and the single-player campaign means hopefully we won't see much in the way of early second-hand sales and rentals."
Syndicate is due for release on February 24th for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

No, "Le Mans" isn't French for "The Dudes" -- it's the name of a city located in northwestern France that has played host to the annual "24 Hours of Lemans" endurance race since 1923. The awesome thing about Le Mans (the race, not the city) is that manufacturers build beautiful, incredibly fast vehicles specifically to handle the event's unique challenges, and those prototypes are the focus of the lastest DLC pack for Forza Motorsport 4.
Well, by "focus" we mean "there's also a Dodge Challenger owned by a UFC dude," but mostly the DLC is about Le Mans' proud racing heritage. Jump past the break for a complete breakdown of the 10 cars your 560 Microsoft Points will earn you when this pack arrives on February 7.

You can't deny one of Microsoft's main goals with its revamped 360 dashboard update was to enhance the box's entertainment attributes, and now the Redmond crowd has flipped the live switch on two more vid-focused apps. Crackle and CinemaNow are joining the likes of Vudu and UFC as part of the latest additions to the Xbox app locker. Both apps are available now for those of us in the States, and while CinemaNow won't be heading elsewhere, Sony's Crackle is hitting three other markets: Australia, Canada and United Kingdom. There's no more info on when -- or if -- both apps will make way into more countries, but Microsoft did say that it'll "continue to enhance and expand" its Xbox Live offerings. We know you're eager to check out some Godzilla collections, so power on that console, head to the apps section and let the crackles set you free.

Bungie will complete the handover process for Halo on March 31, passing responsibility for the iconic shooter series to Microsoft's internal studio 343 Industries.
"All live Halo data will be managed by 343 Industries, and Bungie will no longer be able to update game stats and player service records, to host new user generated content, or to operate the Bungie Pro service," confirmed an official statement.
"All currently supported, Bungie-developed Halo titles will be impacted by this change. Bungie will preserve all existing historical Halo data on Bungie.net for as long as the Internet and Bungie's data storage systems remain functional."
Bungie has recently shown an interest in the mobile market and launched indie venture Aerospace, but has yet to reveal its next AAA project.

When other teams just copy others and/or make only business with their chip without bringing something new and/or make news with nothing new... x360Glitchip brings you the FIRST WORLD Corona Ready chip.
As you know Corona (New motherboard revision after Trinity) were not Glitch compatible because the HANA chip had been removed which were needed for Timing through the CLK_STBY Wire.
The x360Glitchip v2 is the first world chip which doesn't need this point, and so become Corona Ready.
Of course, the build.py of the Glitch Hack has to be updated to handle the new CB 13121.
Others functionnalities will be announced soon, cause the x360Glitchip Team doesn't stop here. :-)
Here a video showing a Trinity Motherboard booting without the CLK_STBY Wire on a modified x360Glitchip v1.4 in order to be Corona Ready.
You will note :
- The missing B point (Not needed now)
- The great booting time : (10s, 16s, 7s, 12s)

Today a new version of our great software for glitchip flash is available.
Indeed, this one is now at version 1.3 and brings you an alternative timing for Trinity motherboard.
This alternative timing will allow hard to glitch xbox's owners to get better boots.
This one is compatible with all x360Glitchips revisions, but works better with v1.4 and the next v2.0.

Xamphear released a new version of 360 Content Manager for JTAG & RGH 360s:
[QUOTE]
What This App Does:
* Browse 360 files on your PC by their real info, like game name and package title.
* Unlock XBLA, DLC and Avatar files downloaded from Xbox Live.
* Upload files (XBLA, DLC, GOD, Avatar, Title Update) to your console over FTP with a single click. Files are automatically uploaded to the right folders.
* Drag and drop files to other applications, if you'd prefer to use your own FTP client.
* Organize a messy folder of downloaded content into 1 of many different directory styles. Restore the original filenames for XBLA and DLC files.
* View the MediaID of Title Updates and GODs so you can match them, and search JQE and XBUC for matching TUs.
* View the MediaID of ISO files. (Requires abgx360)
* View the MediaID of default.xex files.
* Browse your 360's hard drive directly, using FSD. This allows you to delete, unlock, edit and copy the contents of the 360's internal drive over the network.
What's new/fixed:
Bug fixed in Content Organizer, GODs are properly moved between drives
now. Managing content on the 360 itself has been streamlined, drive
mapping is preformed automatically. FSD version 2.2 or higher is HIGHLY
recommended when using this feature. Preview added to the Content
Organizer so you can see the new folder each file will be placed in.
All of the options in the Content Organizer are saved between uses now.
The Library Scan feature has been removed. Date Modified column added.
Fixed bug in uploading when using xFTPdll. Uploading game saves is now
supported, saves are sent over FTP to the proper profile folder location.
Fixed crashing in XP when "File Exists" dialog is displayed. Added wizard
to walk new users through common uses of the program. Disable it and you
will not see it again.

Andrew (bunnie) Huang (to people who were around during the Xbox1 days, I don't have to tell who he is ...) and the Electronic Frontier Foundation posted an open letter you can sign to the (US) Copyright Office to renew the DMCA jailbreak-exemption for smartphones (which will expire soon) and extend it to all electronic 'gadgets' (like tablets, and ... videogame consoles):
[QUOTE]
You bought it. You own it. Tell the Copyright Office: let me install whatever software I want on my phone, tablet, or video game system.
Dear Ms. Pallante,
Whether it's patching a security vulnerability or homebrewing video games and apps, people who own smart phones, tablets, and video game systems are finding inventive ways to use and improve their devices. Often users need to gain full administrative access, through a process known as "jailbreaking," to innovate and take advantage of the device's full potential.
But right now, jailbreaking a device can lead to legal threats. That's a vulnerability in the law: we need you to create a "patch" so users who jailbreak devices won't be at legal risk.
Three years ago, the Copyright Office agreed to create an exemption to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act so that folks could jailbreak their smartphones. But that exemption is about to expire. We need you to renew that exemption and expand it to cover jailbreaking gadgets with similar computation potential. These are all siblings to the PC, yet unlocking their potential as versatile and powerful computers is burdened with legal murkiness.
We need these exemptions to conduct security research on devices to help safeguard everyday users from security threats. Furthermore, users of these products benefit from the flexibility to choose their own operating systems and run independently developed software. We need the law to catch up with how people are using technology.
Jailbreaking is helping to make technology better, more secure, and more flexible. Please defend the rights of users.
Thanks for enabling us to keep technology innovative, secure, and focused on the users.

Rising Star Games, UK publisher of Japanese franchises such as Harvest Moon andNo More Heroes, is making a foray into US publishing, MCV reports. Rising Star has opened an office in California and plans to release its first title, Cave'sAkai Katana, on Xbox 360 in Q2 2012. We've watched with bitter jealousy as Japan and Europe enjoyed some of these releases exclusively, and Cave in particular has been very good at rubbing it in our faces. Party's over, Cave.
Rising Star has also launched an offshoot to handle its downloadable releases, called Rising Star Games Digital. "Rising Star Games Digital has been something we've been working on for a while," company MD Martin Defries said. "We envisage a huge growth in downloadable product over the coming years, and intend to play a big part shaping the future development of our exciting industry."

The co-op demo for Syndicate is ready to infiltrate Xbox 360s in North America and Europe right now. The PlayStation Network will likely gain access today at the close of business on the East Coast, which is when the PSN usually updates in North America. The PSN version for Europe will have open enrollment tomorrow.
The demo covers the "Western Europe" co-op mission, as your team steals blueprints for Cayman Global (the TCBY of the future) and assassinates what may or may not be a bad guy. Hey, it's business, there's very little room for ethics.

Jurassic Park will not be coming to retail on Xbox 360.
Publisher Kalypso Media told MCV that the movie tie-in will only arrive as a boxed PC release. It was previously due to hit shelves on Xbox 360 as well as PC on February 24th.
Jurassic Park: The Game first arrived late last year as a digital download on PC, before heading to iOS, PSN and Xbox Live. It was developed at Californian studio Telltale Games.
Kalypso’s head of marketing and PR Mark Allen told MCV: “Currently we won’t be publishing this on 360 – just on PC. No one else is bringing the game to retail.”

Finnish developer RedLynx has denied that it is behind the appearance on file-sharing websites of its upcoming Xbox Live Arcade game Trials Evolution.
The studio once uploaded an incomplete PC build of Trials 2 SE to The Pirate Bay in a bid to stimulate demand for the game. Speaking to Develop, however, managing director Tero Virtala insisted his company had nothing to do with the leak of Evolution, which is due to be released on XBLA this year.
"We want to be clear that [leaking Trials Evolution] is not something we did ourselves," he said. "That was a different project for a different market and in a different time."
Virtala went on to warn that those playing the leaked build will be missing out on a large part of Trials' appeal: connectivity.
"Trials Evolution is a game that makes full use of being continuously connected," he said. "Leaderboards, friend challenges, online multiplayer and global track-sharing are all integral parts of the game that cannot be experienced before launch.
"We're continuing to polish and finish up the game, and we'll have a new trailer coming soon which will give people a much better look into everything the game will hold and when they can expect to see it."
