Unleash Dante's raging inferno next year when the Devil May Cry HD Collectionarrives April 3, 2012. Capcom confirmed the date today for the bundle, featuring the first three games in the series (including the "special edition" version of DMC 3), and reiterated the game will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 for $39.99.
The package will (naturally) support both Trophies and Achievements, and will include unspecified "bonus content"... like, black hair dye?

Microsoft has apparently failed to respond to concerns raised by beta testers who spotted a drop in the quality of video playback after installing the Xbox 360 Metro dashboard update.
Users told Eurogamer that videos played from the new dash run at limited range RGB levels, with colours washed out and blacks appearing grey, with Digital Foundry tests confirming the issue.
It appears the issue was reported on numerous occasions during the Metro dashboard's closed beta phase prior to its launch last week. Microsoft's sole response was to delete all threads referring to it.
"Thanks for the feedback!" reads a message posted by Microsoft when the issue was reported. "Though we will not be able to incorporate your feedback into this release we will save it for consideration in future releases. Thanks for using the new Xbox Update and please keep up the feedback!"
It seems odd that Microsoft would not ensure this issue was addressed given that the Metro update is built around video, with a slew of TV and entertainment companies signed up to provide content through the console. It's also, as Digital Foundry points out, rather disrespectful to those beta testers who identified and reported a significant bug in the update that went unaddressed, and calls into question the whole point of running a beta in the first place.

[source: Blackaddr @ xboxhacker.org] I took quick look at the Trinity and Corona SMCs. Btw, the entry point for all SMCs up to and including Jasper is 0x756. The entry point for Trinity and Corona are both 0x7E3. Corona is still using an 8052, and is structured the same as previous SMCs, however this one is twice the size (address space). Regarding HANA communication: - Corona still uses the same I2C communication routines as Zephyr->Trinity in the SMC to talk to the HANA. - Jasper and Trinity have essentially the same set of register accesses to initialize the HANA. This implies Jasper and Trinity have essentially the same HANA. - Corona uses the I2C same routines, BUT has completely different registers for initialization. This implies the Corona HANA has not simply been copackaged (reused), it could be a brand new design. Up until now the HANA has served two purposes. It's a video DAC with HDMI, and it's a clock synthesizer for the system.

Swizzy released a new version of his GUI for xeBuild v1.0:
[QUOTE]
Overview - What it does
- This is a frontend/GUI for xeBuild, what it does is make it easy for you to select most options that you might need, such as Motherboard, SMC hack for freeboot, image type etc. etc.
- It is able to check what SMC hack you have previously used for JTAG it's also able to tell you what SMC version you have, and if it's a JTAG, Clean/Retail, Glitch or Cygnos patched SMC
- If you put any of these files next to the executable it'll use them
automaticly:
SMC.bin - Custom SMC of your choice; ONLY USE THIS OF YOU KNOW WHAT
YOU ARE DOING!!!!
Xell.bin - Custom Xell of your choice; ONLY USE THIS OF YOU KNOW WHAT
YOU ARE DOING!!!!
cpukey.txt - It'll read the first line of this file as CPUKey
flashdmp.bin - It'll load this as source nand
Default.xml - It'll load any preset settings from this file
options.ini - It'll load any custom settings from this (for xeBuild)
launch.ini - Settings for Dashlaunch, if you choose to use this setting it'll include this file in the built image
What's new/fixed (v1.1):
- Added: Function to prepare a USB memory stick for updating your console with the AVATAR support (Update downloader)
- Fixed: Copying of Cygnos360 V2 SMC now works...
- Fixed: Some Xenon SMC's didn't show previous hack properly... works now
- Fixed: Sometimes the app will recognise your SMC as Cygnos whiles it's JTAG, the app will now show you it's JTAG if it can see that it's JTAG patched aswell instead of fooling you by saying it's a cygnos 360 patch...
- Changed: The app no longer asks if you want to clear the log after autosaving, instead it asks if you want to Close the app, Clear the log or just leave the way it is
- Added: Reading cpukey/ldv from fuse.txt or downloading it from xell now also saves both CPUKey and DVDKey (if available) to keys.txt
What's new/fixed (v1.0b):
- Fixed: XP Compatibilty issues causing the app to crash as it can't find the files it requires due to XP beeing generally gay when it comes to directory shit ]_[ (i thought i had found all of them, but apparently some little buggers passed by me prior to release
- Fixed: Already open windows will not automaticly be brought to the front so you can see them
- Fixed: Selecting Glitch/Trinity then selecing JTAG/Xenon will no longer cause the Xell section to be de-selected randomly
- Added: Failsafes in custom options, you can no longer set your MAX temp lower then your running temperatures! and you can also not set max/running temp without setting the other option aswell...
- Added: Check if you have selected the same Xell/Dualboot button twice (excludes not setting it of course)

From wasabi360.com:
[QUOTE]
We have released Wasabi 360 Ultra firmware v1.2 BETA 1 which includes the following changes:
* Dynamic AP25 responses based on disc profiles are now supported, allowing AP25 protected titles to function with the latest 14699 dash and console specific dae.bin updates
* Support for GPT partitions added, enabling support for drives larger than 2TB
The updated handling of AP25 protection is in response so the recent AP25 updates that Microsoft has been rolling out via Xbox Live. Wasabi 360 Ultra is now capable of correctly responding to any random AP25 challenge, such as those found in the console specific part of dae.bin. This means that Wasabi 360 Ultra can now fully support any AP25 (and XGD3) games in conjunction with fully updated consoles running the latest 14699 dashboard. It is important to note that the way with which AP25 protection is handled has changed entirely with this release; full details may be found in the documentation within the update archive. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with these changes before testing this BETA firmware.
Finally, if you are testing this BETA firmware, it is now safe to continue using Xbox Live with Wasabi 360 Ultra in pass-through mode.

Work on this drive is temporarily suspended while v3.0 is in progress for other drive models.
The original fw of the DG-16D5S 1175 drive was dumped several months ago, shortly after the drive first began appearing in retail units, but employs a new encryption that is different from the older DG-16D4S drive model. There will be no further progress on cfw for this drive until the encryption algorithm is reversed and the ofw decrypted.

A little known fact about the Padawan training program is that it includes an intense, three-month course on dance. Think about it: dueling with lightsabers is basically dance fighting. ?
That's why the ESRB rating for Kinect: Star Wars didn't really throw us. The promised "dance tournaments, podracing, and Jedi duels" sound like de rigueur, believe us. We've read extensively on the subject.
Joking aside, there isn't really anything else we can say beyond this: the following is the final excerpt in the ESRB listing for Kinect: Star Wars. "In the dancing mini-game, some female characters perform suggestive moves (e.g., gyrating their hips/buttocks) and wear revealing outfits (partially exposed cleavage/buttocks). The words 'damn' and 'hell' can be heard in the dialogue."
We imagine the "dialogue" in question goes something like this: "What in the damn hell has happened to Star Wars?"

That too-awesome-for-words Star Wars-themed Xbox 360 you'd swap a limb for will be out in Spring, if new rumours prove accurate.
The machine was officially confirmed back in June but has since gone AWOL, held back by the delay of the accompanying Star Wars Kinect game. The title was previously listed for release in "holiday 2011," but has now been pushed back by MS in order to achieve its "full potential." No new date for the game or console has been announced.
But Kotaku has today reported being told by 'a source' that the console is being lined up for a Spring release. That, we assume, points to a date for the game too.
In addition, the site posted a photo (pictured) of the console being used on the set of a 'popular network television show' due to air in February.
So they are out there. You just can't have one yet.

Modern Warfare 3 players are in for a few treats today. First off, Activision's blockbuster has been updated with multiplayer playlist tweaks and an entirely new mode. Dubbed "Drop Zone," the latter tasks players with capturing and holding a ... drop zone. The team with the most players in the zone will receive a care package every fifteen seconds. The twist: Earning care packages is the only way to achieve pointstreaks. Drop Zone marks the first entry in the new Community Playlists section, which will play host to "popular or unique private match modes" created by users themselves.
The second playlist change is the addition of Hardcore Headquarters Ricochet to the Hardcore playlist. Furthermore, all Hardcore modes will now feature ricochet, meaning that all friendly fire will be reflected back to the attacker. In other words: Shooting a teammate is basically shooting yourself.
Finally, Infinity Ward community guru Robert Bowling has tweeted that a title update will be available today to address "Host Disadvantage" / "Lag Compensation."

Don Coyner, lead designer and marketing man for the original Xbox and the Xbox 360, will not be in charge of the new Xbox design team, Cnet reports. Coyner will be replaced with Emma Williams, who helped launch the recent Xbox Live interface revamp, one of Cnet's sources says.
Coyner joined Microsoft from Nintendo in 1995, and became marketing director for the original Xbox in 1999. Coyner designed the user experience and branding for the Xbox 360, and his most recent title at Microsoft is General Manager of Design. Williams joined Microsoft in 2003 and is currently General Manager of Xbox Experiences, leading last week's Xbox Live interface update that introduced more social, content-specific hubs to the 360.
With the next Xbox rumored for release in 2013, the Live update could be a massive trial period for features to include in the new model, or it could be a secret government study monitoring the effects of cloud storage on adolescent violence. Could be.

The Xbox 360 online matchmaking issue that affects low population Modern Warfare 3 territories is being "actively" worked on, according to developer Infinity Ward. The issue, caused by the game's "weighted matchmaking" feature, had been absent from a to-do list Infinity Ward shared earlier this week. But now, after insufficient explanations by Xbox Support - which tried to pass the problem off as a symptom of gaming within an unsupported Xbox Live region - the matter has the due attention it deserves."For those following this topic, we are actively working on the issue affecting matchmaking for players in low MW3 population territories," wrote IW dev "G IH A IN ID II" on the MW3 forum."Thank you all for your patience while we work on this. We are acutely aware of the frustration this must be causing."Sure enough, "improvements to 'weighted matchmaking' to improve games for regions with low populations" has now been added to that original MW3 to-do list.Infinity Ward dev "G IH A IN ID II" has subsequently posted a lengthier explanation of the MW3 weighted matchmaking issue."The problem with weighted matchmaking for those in territories with a low MW3 player base is that the game appears to not be expanding the geography searched correctly in increments through successive searches on the Xbox 360, resulting in matchmaking taking a long time or people struggling to join any matches for some of the less common game modes," wrote "G IH A IN ID II"."The matchmaking was designed using a regionally weighted sesarch for many reasons: to ensure people tended to group with those nearby to optimise averge ping to the host; increase the likelihood that people played with those players who speak their language amongst others."We have an issue, however, in the case of regions with few players, since it appears too much weight is continually applied to locale throughout the search for active sessions."We are actively trying to fix this problem," added "G IH A IN ID II", "and are in contact with our counterparts at Microsoft (we use Live for matchmaking on Xbox, on other platforms a proprietary solution) to determine where in the process the issue exists and fix it.""... care needs to be taken as we solve this issue to ensure someone from across the globe is not being matched with a lobby hosted in Los Angeles, for example, because this can influence lag for all parties."Infinity Ward also announced plans to fix the PS3 hit sound, which should now be in effect.PS3 voice chat quality has been improved, too, but "will not get pushed until the New Year".Our thanks to Ivan for his help with this story.

December 16th, 2011, 02:14 Posted By: wraggster
Ken Mankoff is a PhD student at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he studies ice and ocean interactions. He also counts himself among a growing legion of environmental scientists who have begun using Microsoft's Kinect to create detailed, 3D maps of caves, glaciers and even asteroids. As Wiredreports, the Kinect has garnered something of a cult following within the scientific community, especially among those who, until now, have relied upon comparatively more expensive and complicated technologies to gather detailed 3D data. The approach du jour for most researchers is something known as Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) -- a laser-based technology capable of creating precise maps over relatively large areas. The Kinect, by contrast, can only see up to 16 feet in front of itself, but at just $120, it's significantly cheaper than the average LIDAR system, which can run for anywhere between $10,000 and $200,000. It's also surprisingly accurate, capable of capturing up to 9 million data points per second.
Mankoff, for one, has already used the device to map a small cavern underneath a glacier in Norway, while Marco Tedesco, a hydrologist at the City College of New York, is looking to attach a Kinect to aremote-controlled helicopter, in the hopes of measuring so-called meltwater lakes found on glaciers during the summer. Then there's Naor Movshovitz, also a PhD student at UC Santa Cruz, who's more interested in using the Kinect and its image processing software to figure out how asteroids behave when broken up by a projectile. There are limitations, of course, since the device still has trouble performing amidst severe environmental conditions, though its supporters seem confident they'll find a solution. Read more at the source link below.
