Forthcoming action RPG sequel Dungeon Siege III will now launch in Europe on 17th June, rather than 27th May as originally promised.
Publisher Square Enix didn't offer an excuse for the delay of the Obsidian-developed title, due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Will it be worth the wait? Have a read of Christian Donlan's recent hands-on preview for more clues.
"While Obsidian's yet to reveal the full range of playable classes, and co-op and multiplayer remains under wraps, what's been shown so far is confident, likable, and engaging. Fingers crossed, then," he wrote.

Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello is anticipating that the head-to-head at the end of this year between Battlefield 3.0 and the next Call of Duty title will be a "battle of the titans" that could see as much as $200 million spent in marketing alone.
Speaking at the Ad Age Digital Conference in New York, Riccitiello admitted that rival publisher Activision Blizzard currently held the number one spot in the first-person shooter market, but claimed that the latest Battlefield game was designed to "take [Call of Duty] down".
"This November we're launching Battlefield 3," he said. "It's going up against the next Call of Duty, which is presently the number one game in the game industry. It's a game that did $400 million in revenue on day one.
"This game is designed to take that game down. If you're looking for a battle of the titans, a Red Sox versus Yankees, if you're trying to understand if it's Microsoft versus Google and what the tip-off point is for this holiday season - this is it.
"There'll be a couple of hundred million dollars of marketing between these two products going head-to-head; similar designs, we think we've got the better product. It's going to be a blast."
In-game footage for Battlefield 3.0 was recently released, showing off the title's new Frostbite 2 technology. No details on plans for this year's Call of Duty have yet been revealed.

Hackaday forum member [azazelcrey] recently wrote in to share his portable Xbox 360 build. This is not his first attempt at constructing one of these, as he completed his first portable console a few years back. This time, he has taken what he learned from the first go round, making his newest creation a bit cleaner and more compact.
He sourced an LCD monitor with built-in speakers to use as the display, mounting it into a $20 metal-sided suitcase from Home Depot. He disassembled his Xbox and added it to the case, installing a couple extra fans to keep things cool. Some standard Xbox functions were externalized, allowing him to power on the console, load games, and synchronize controllers, all while keeping the briefcase shut.
This obviously isn’t something that you would carry on a train or bus for on-the-go gaming, but it’s a great way to travel with your Xbox as well as a handful of gear. We imagine this rugged, fully-contained gaming center is quite useful for one-off Xbox LAN parties, and it seems like it would be a good way to get your game on if stuck overnight in a hotel.
Check out his web site if you are interested in seeing his first build or more pictures of this one.

>> A600 released xBermuda v0.1.4:
[QUOTE]
This is a port for the Xbox1 of the Bermuda Syndrome interpreter done by Gregory Montoir (http://cyxdown.free.fr/bs/) and possible thanks the SDLx libs by lantus.
I have to say that this game is probably my favourite platformer of all times (far better IMHO than Another World or Flashback) and sadly it didn't get the recognition it deserved.
This program is a re-implementation of the engine used in the game Bermuda Syndrome made by Century Interactive and published by BMG in 1995. The original data files are required (retail or demo versions).

In addition to being the official economic soothsayer of the gaming industry, Michael Pachter knows a thing or two about legal affairs. Actually, he has a pair of law degrees, so odds are good that he knows more than two things. Regardless, he recently sounded off toIndustryGamers about former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella's chances of gaining ownership of the Modern Warfare brand form Activision through legal action. His opinion? They've got "no prayer."
Pachter suggested that any claim the two may have had on the brand was lost when their employment was terminated, saying, "They have never claimed that they 'own' the brand; instead, they claim that they were granted creative control over the brand under their employment agreement." Pachter added that a theoretical solution for West and Zampella would be to seek reemployment (yeah right) under a wrongful termination claim, though he noted, "That is simply not what West and Zampella are seeking here."

While delivering a keynote speech at the Ad Age Conference in New York, EA CEO John Riccitiello pitched the marketing moguls in attendance on video gaming's increasing prominence in the advertising industry. Not just with regards to in-game ads -- though he did talk up their strength, citing President Obama's use of virtual billboards during his campaign -- but also on the growing market of video game advertisements themselves.
Riccitiello anticipates that Electronic Arts and Activision will drop "a couple hundred million dollars [worth of] marketing" on the next iterations of their respective shooter franchises,Battlefield and Call of Duty. We've got a better idea -- why not distribute that money directly to the fans, which they can then use to buy more copies of your game? Like, that just seems like Marketing 101.

What's this, you ask? The next generation of Xbox 360 development, that's what. With a shockingly small amount of fanfare, Microsoft has ushered in a striking new Xbox Development Kit, which is purportedly designed to increase efficiency and reduce cost for Xbox 360 dev teams. Aside from boasting an undisclosed uptick in RAM, built-in flash memory, a more capacious hard drive and a slimmer form factor, this XDK will also be sold at a "significantly reduced price from its predecessor." 'Course, the folks in Redmond aren't saying what exactly that sticker will look like, but those interested in taking the plunge regardless will also have the option to license a Sidecar attachment that enables debugging and disc emulation. We're told that said accessory can be shared among multiple XDK consoles, and in turn, it should lower the overall price to create, test, debug, and release an Xbox 360 or Xbox Live Arcade game. It's still a guessing game when it comes to an actual launch date, but it'll become "the standard kit" when new orders are fulfilled in the future. Feel free to peruse the gallery below if you're interested, and toss out a wild guess as to what that Sidecar will go for on eBay during the next century. Aim high, bub!

Silverlight started as just a humble Flash competitor and now, well, it's all grown up. Almost, anyway. It's a fundamental part of the Windows Phone 7 ecosphere and word on the street is that it's about to become a fundamental part of the Xbox 360 world as well -- or a part, at least. Microsoft's MIX 11 developer event kicks off next week and rumor has it that Microsoft will unload a new tier of Silverlight compatibility enabling apps on the company's console and there's the potential for writing apps that could run both on phones and on the console. That sounds like some utopian dream-world of the future, where wavey-arm Kinect antics replace touchscreen swipes, but the bigger question is does the Xbox 360 really need another app store? Will this co-exist with the XNA-developed titles or supersede them? Is this why Xbox developer boxes just got a lot cheaper? Might we finally get Angry Birds on our HDTVs? Such delicious ponderings.

As souvenirs go, a miniature replica of yourself -- striking a pose of your choosing on Barcelona's La Rambla street -- is a far sight more original than a bullfights-and-senoritas snow globe. This past January, the hilariously titled BlablabLAB enlisted three Kinects and a RepRap machine to snap passersby and render them into personalized tchotchkes, in a project called Be Your Own Souvenir. Subjects stood atop a small platform, mimicking the human statues on La Rambla, as the Kinects captured their likeness in full 360-degree glory. The resulting images were then processed as a mesh reconstruction, saved as a G-code file, and then fed through a 3D printer -- and voila, out popped the tiny statuettes. If you're a fan of flashy editing and Kinect-based street experiments, check out the video after the break.

Rugby World Cup 2011 is on its way to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, publisher 505 Games has announced.
Due to launch on 26th August, the game is being developed by HB Studios – the same team responsible for the dormant EA Sports Rugby series last seen in 2007.
There'll be 20 participating teams to choose from, online play and local multiplayer for up to four players.
"Developing Rugby World Cup 2011 for Xbox 360 and PS3 has given us the opportunity to create the definitive representation of a sport we all have such a passion for," said HB boss Alastair Jarvis.
"The attention to detail in both the visual quality of the game and the representation of the gameplay is second to none. It captures the thrills and excitement of Rugby World Cup in a way we simply have not been able to achieve before.
"Online play, especially, adds an entirely new dimension to the game, boosting national pride as players challenge competitors from across the globe to their own international matches."
It's nice to see the sport back on our consoles – especially with HB at the helm. The Canadian developer did a fine job while working on EA's franchise.

Australian arm of retailer GAME slips news of next premium download for record-breaking shooter
GAME Australia has, presumably mistakenly, released details of what appears to be the next DLC release for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Called 'The Escalation Pack', it apparently contains five maps – Seize the Zoo, Take the Hotel, Secure the Convoy, Raid the Stockpile and Survive the Call of the Dead.
It also suggests a concrete release date May 3rd 2011. That, of course, will only be on Xbox 360 as both PS3 and PC will get the content later thanks to Microsoft's exclusivity agreement with Activision.

He only had access for a limited period, but a self-proclaimed "hacker" managed to finagle his way into Xbox Live policy enforcement lead Stephen Toulouse's Xbox Live Gold account over the weekend. The hacker calls himself "Predator," and has created a six-minute video showing off his exploits. Predator allegedly used "social engineering techniques" and didn't employ any "programs," he told Joystiq this afternoon. Predator was able to alter Xbox Live account information after resetting Toulouse's password, all through Toulouse's personal website host, Network Solutions.
But despite his actions, "Predator" says he didn't go do it for malicious reasons. "I'm simply letting them know I'm willing to help them secure accounts from future hackers," he explained. "All accounts are open for hacking." That last statement rings especially true in light of last year's hacking of Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's Xbox Live account.
And this isn't his first success, Predator claims. "I've done many illegal things on Xbox -- I've taken Trixie360's account, 15 Original Gamertags, 4 H3 Pro's [Halo 3 pros], and a few randoms," he told us. He also notes in his video that he's had "over 35" console bans, and points out that, as a result, Toulouse "had it coming, man." Predator, however, remains unconcerned about his own fate. He notes after explaining his past exploits that nothing has happened to him so far.
Microsoft didn't get back to us by publishing, and Predator says his offer to help with Xbox Live security stands.

A600 released a port of ScummVM 1.3.0git for Xbox1.
ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. ScummVM supports many adventure games, including LucasArts SCUMM games, many of Sierra's AGI and SCI games and many more.
What's new/fixed:
* Added the ability to resize the screen. Use the included program xResizer and with the analogs, calibrate the screen until you see the green border; press A and a file xbox.cfg will be saved with the following options:
xpos=...
ypos=...
xstretch=...
ystretch=...
flickerfilter=1
720p=1
Now copy all those lines to the [scummvm] section of the scummvm.ini
* Added flicker filter and 720p mode (see above). For the 720 mode, use the
3x scalers.
NOTE: for a pixel perfect screen with correct aspect ratio these values should be used.
The reason I didn't add support for resizing the screen with the first release is because I use a projector with no overscan at all so didn't think about it.
* Source code updated to r44824
* Debug build should compile now.

We've already seen Evoluce toy around with using a Kinect to control Windows, but it's now taken things one step further with its new "Win & I" software, which promises to let anyone do the same with minimal effort. That comes in both a home edition that offers gesture controls for Windows 7 itself, plus Media Center and other applications (which could be particularly handy for a home theater), as well as a business edition that apparently adds some extra controls specifically tailored to Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint in particular. Head on past the break for a quick video demonstration, and hit up the link below to snag the software if you're interested -- the home edition runs €20, or just under $30 (Kinect not included, obviously).
Update: Well, it looks like Evoluce already has a bit of competition. Upstart company So Touch has now also released its Air Presenter software that will let you liven up your next presentation with more gesturing and hand-waving than usual.

Battlefield 3's exec producer Patrick Bach has described sandbox games as largely "hardcore, boring, hard to get into and not very popular." Ouch.
The EA man told Edge that his team has demonstrated its ability to create open world games in the past but, logistical problems (and, apparently, a certain development philosophy) have meant that Battlefield 3 will be a much more scripted, linear affair.
"I don't see it as an absolute goal for all games to be sandbox games. We've been building sandbox games for quite some time and we've got pretty good at it, but I don't see that as the only way of building games, because then we wouldn't build campaigns at all," he told Edge.
"In some cases they aren't, but in most cases sandbox games are hardcore, boring, hard to get into and they are not very popular.
"Just the fact that the environment can change dynamically creates a huge challenge for us when it comes to AI," he explained.
"[It] puts a lot of challenges to our AI code when it comes to finding new cover, reacting to the fact that it has disappeared, moving and flanking based on the new situation."
However the gameplay itself turns out, there's no denying that Battlefield 3looks like an absolute gem. Have a look at the latest gameplay trailer and the many screenshots we nabbed from it for your scrutiny.

Logic-Sunrire brings us the news that a group of developers are porting codec libraries to homebrew Xbox360s (JTAG and DevKit).
At this moment, only mpeg1 work. The ffplay, ffmpeg and libxvidcore libs have been ported, but they still have to solve some issues with SDL.
When everything is finished and working, you will be able to find their project on a git or google code so you can freely use it. This will allow developers to integrate these libs into their own 360 homebrew projects (FSD for example) or use it to develop a video player for example.
The proof-of-concept binary has also been released. To test it, put a mpeg1 video named "test.mpg" is the same directory as the default.xex.
