It's rumoured that Warner Bros. could be preparing to unveil a new Batman game said to be headed to Xbox Live Arcade.
The rumour, which started off as speculation triggered by now-deleted retailer website listings for a 'Gotham City Imposters', has been further backed up by the recent discovery of multiple new domain names registered by Warner.
They include BatmanHush.com, BatmanImposters.com, BatmanRedhoods.com, BatmanKnightfell.com, and BatmanHushgame.com, as spotted by Superannuation.
Each domain seems to make nods to various Batman-related baddies or anime comic book plots, suggesting the rumours could be true, but there's no confirmation as yet.
The first images of the Batman: Arkham City comic book were released earlier this month. The comic picks up events from the final showdown between Bats and the Joker in Arkham Asylum, before showing what happens to The Clown Prince of Crime directly after.

Forthcoming FPS sequel Metro 2034 is to be renamed Metro 2033: Last Light, if a set of new URL registrations are to be believed.
As spotted by keen-eyed Tweeter Superannuation, publisher THQ grabbed www.lastlight.com, www.metrolastlight.com and www.metro2033lastlight.com earlier this week, suggesting a name change is imminent.
Developed by Ukrainian studio 4A games, the brilliantly bleak Metro 2033 came out last March on PC and Xbox 360. Set largely in post-apocalyptic Moscow's mutant-infested underground, it won a solid 8/10 from Eurogamer's Jim Rossignol.
Very little has been revealed about its forthcoming sequel since it was first unveiled in June, other than that THQ intends to give it a little more marketing TLC than it did to the somewhat-neglected original.
No release date for the game has yet been set.

[Choi Ka Fai] has been experimenting with neurostimulation for some time now. His body of work has focused on exploring the possibility of using neurostim devices to replay pre-recorded muscle movements.
Until now, he has been recording his muscle movements as acoustic waveforms for real-time playback in the bodies of his research partners. This usually requires him to sit beside the subject, tethered to a machine. This tends to limit his movement, so he has invested in a new form of movement recording technology – a Kinect sensor.
Using fairly standard skeleton tracking as we have seen in some previous Kinect hacks, he has enabled himself to direct the motion of his subject by merely moving in front of the camera. The benefit of using the Kinect over wired sensors is that he can use any body part to direct his partner’s movements by simply changing how the software interprets his actions. As you can see in the video below, he uses his hands, knees, and even his head to direct the motion of his partner’s arm.
It really is a neat application of the Kinect, and we are totally digging the shaky “human marionette” effect that it produces. Since this was only an initial test of the system, expect to see some more cool stuff coming from [Choi] in the near future.
Stick around to see a quick video of the Kinect-driven neurostim rig in action.

A Pirates of the Flying Fortress expansion pack has been announced for Two Worlds II.
All three versions - PC, PS3, Xbox 360 - will be released in September (apparently - scoff). And the add-on unsurprisingly revolves around the scurvy world of pirates.
This new adventure will be "more than astonishing" and feature "exotic flair" and "shocking surprises", promises the press release. On top of that will be new enemies, settings and weapons.
Fan feedback for TWII has been taken on board, resulting in thunderstorms, rain, horse armour, new nag breeds, extra bosses, added animations, unseen cut-scenes and freshly recorded dialogue.
Several new multiplayer maps are to be offered around launch, too.
Two Worlds II, a by-the-book fantasy RPG, had its commendable (7/10 - Eurogamer) content overshadowed by an unforgettable UK release saga. The date slipped more times than a bar of soap, and the reasons why ranged from avoiding a busy Autumn 2010 schedule to physical cargo being wrecked.
Ironically, after all that, Two Worlds II launched in the UK on the same day as Dragon Age II.
Cast the UK aside, however, and Two Worlds II has enjoyed runaway success, selling more than 2.5 million copies worldwide.

For a third consecutive month, Xbox 360 has been crowned North America's best-selling home console.
Microsoft revealed a March tally of 430,000 Xbox 360 sales: a significant amount more - 28 per cent more - than in March 2010.
In only one of the last 10 months has Xbox 360 not been top of the home console pile.
Gamers are spending the largest amount of money on Xbox 360 goods, too. Combined spend on hardware, software and overpriced accessories - oh did I say that out loud - reached $457 million.
In software, eight of the top 10 best-selling March games were multi-platform and are available on Xbox 360. Microsoft picked out Homefront, Crysis 2, Dragon Age II and Call of Duty: Black Ops. These are games Microsoft and Xbox 360 have run special promotions for.
The DS was March's best-selling console, although sales figures are unknown. The Nintendo 3DS sold just under 400,000 units in the week following its 27th March launch.
Sony is yet to reveal PlayStation 3 sales for March.

We've always said that if there's one thing Xbox Live Arcade is lacking, it's more side-scrolling shmups starring pre-teen witches on broomsticks. Thanks goodness, then, that SNK has heard our plaintive cries and plans to release an Xbox 360 port of its coin-op descent into horizontal bullet hell, Trouble Witches Neo, as a downloadable title on April 27.
Right now, the release is only official for Japan -- where the game will run 800 Microsoft Points ($10) -- but in describing the title, SNK makes specific mention of global online co-op and leaderboards. Given the publisher's track record of releasing its XBLA games in the West soon after their Japanese debuts, it shouldn't be long before we find out which Wednesday these witches will be stirring up trouble on US consoles.

A Guinness World Records achievement for "most people running a virtual 100m dash at one time" will take place over Easter weekend, on April 23. According to Rare, a free Xbox Nations gamer pic should be available in the coming week. Downloading it will "automatically enter you into the record attempt."
Then, at the appointed time (listed after the break), all you need to do is pop in Kinect Sportsand "complete a sprint mini-game while connected to Xbox Live." Make sure not to choose the entire track and field event from the menu or it won't count.
All who download the gamer pic and participate in the record attempt will be rewarded with the Guinness World Records avatar tee (pictured). Beyond that point, you can totally make up the reason you earned it: "Yeah, I totally got that for putting four pool balls in my mouth. You should see how many you can do!"

Sure, Hulu Plus may not be part of the public beta preview of this spring's Xbox 360 Dashboard update -- at least that's what Microsoft's saying -- but that doesn't mean we can't see what it may look like when it does launch, as scheduled, sometime in the next few months. Images sent to us by a trusted tipster show the Hulu Plus app in action (and being controlled by Kinect), as well as the revamped Kinect Dashboard.
Like the Netflix app, the Hulu interface resembles the Xbox Dashboard itself, offering a rotating layer of categories with selectable content. As for the updated Kinect Hub, it looks fairly similar to what is currently available on the Xbox, only it adds access to both Netflix and Hulu Plus.
Though our tipster doesn't know whether Hulu Plus will be added to the current public beta test of the next Dashboard update, our source did note that the application seems fully functional, as does Avatar Kinect (also not currently part of the preview). Our tipster said the Kinect-controlled Avatar showcase app wasn't especially exciting, but that "it was good at tracking my movements and the response time was pretty fast like everything else with the Kinect." Hopefully we'll find out for ourselves soon enough!

Super Stardust HD and Dead Nation developer Housemarque's downloadable game Outland launches on the EU PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade on 27th April, Ubisoft has confirmed to Eurogamer.
It hits the US PlayStation Store on 26th April.
Outland's like a cross between old school Prince of Persia and cult classic shmup Ikaruga. Tapping L2 shifts you between blue and red energy alignments, allowing you to harmlessly absorb same colour projectiles. There's story co-op and co-op challenge rooms, too.
Outland was announced as a Ubisoft-published PSN and Xbox Live Arcade game last year.

A real breakthough in AI allows a simple video camera and almost any machine to track objects in its view. All you have to do is draw a box around the object you want to track and the software learns what it looks like at different angles and under different lighting conditions as it tracks it. This means no training phase — you show it the object and it tracks it. And it seems to work really well!
The really good news is that the software has been released as open source so we can all try it out! This is how AI should work.http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/04...ct-Recognition

News via http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/...ZEivjXLbXG.php
As you might have read on our forums or elsewhere the last few days, the Beta Dashboard Microsoft released to members accepted into the System Update Preview Program is indeed flashing the firware of some DVD drives (only fat/slim lite-on and fat BenQ, fat Samsung afaik). The new beta dashboard, which has also been leaked online already, seems to be 13141/13142 for those who updated through LIVE and 13140 for those who got the green update disc. Besides flashing these drives with a new Original Firmware, it also has a new set of AP2.5 challenges.
While there's still much to find out and analysed, Defosho posted a nice FAQ/Round-up of some findings - make sure to read his thread for the latest info, but here's what's in it at time of writing:
There's also some information from C4Eva on IRC:
[c4eva] currently beta dash will flash benq, phat liteons and slim 9504!
[c4eva] hitachi is ignored!
[_w*****] is it for protection or for the new disc format?
[c4eva] w*****:unsure maybe, could be just ensure stock drive for xgd3 testing, will know more soon!
[c4eva] there is no problem in dumping/key extraction for any of the new fw from beta dash!already looked at them all! will wait and see what is used for public release!
Members who got accepted in the System Update Preview Program also received a XGD3 Halo Reach disc (a silver one for those who got the dash upgrade through LIVE and a green one of those who have to update with the disc). Team Xecuter has some info about the new XGD3 format:
Russian hackers have also released a set of AP2.5 patches for all regional AP25-protected-games on both the current 12625 and 13142 beta dash. They have been confirmed to be working indeed, but according to Team Xecuter they are unsafe to use on LIVE:
If you want more info about how AP2.5 works, I suggest you read this great FAQ by Defosho.

Microsoft's WorldWide Telescope -- a collaboration with NASA that explores high-resolution photos and 3D renders of the cosmos -- was already pretty cool, but Redmond upped the ante to incredible with the addition of a Kinect depth camera at MIX 11. Using a piece of software created with the company's upcoming Kinect SDK for Windows, Microsoft gave us a virtual tour of Earth and the surrounding stars, guided by a deep-voiced narrator holding the whole world in his hands. Of course, you'd already know that if you watched the video above, so what are you waiting for? Oh, and we've got more MIX video on the way, so stay tuned.

Microsoft will release Halo motion comic The Mona Lisa through Waypoint and the internet next Saturday, 23rd April.
It retells a story from the Halo Evolution anthology, set shortly after the events of Xbox launch title Halo: Combat Evolved.
"Sent on a highly-classified mission in the debris field of the Halo artefact, the crew of the UNSC Red Horse discover a derelict prison ship – the Mona Lisa – adrift in space," reads the official blurb.
"When a contingent of marines board this vessel, they come face to face with a more terrifying threat than the Covenant and are forced to battle for their very survival."
Ahead of the launch of the motion comic, Microsoft will this Friday make a number of changes to improve Xbox Live Halo portal Waypoint.
Your Halo: Reach service record will be fully accessible from Waypoint, so you'll be able to check your weapon stats and Challenges from within the Xbox 360 application.
The new Compare with Friends feature lets you compare your stats with your friends. Two new Waypoint career levels are added, as is the ability to launch the Games on Demand version of Halo: Reach – Bungie's final Halo game – from within Waypoint itself.
The Zune tech that powers "instant on" streaming ports over, which should make watching videos within Waypoint faster and easier.
Meanwhile, a number of Halo Avatar items launch tomorrow, 14th April, including Spartan helmets and Red vs. Blue t-shirts.There's even a Flood infection form for your Avatar.
Halo is 10 years old this year. Speculation is mounting that Microsoft plans to launch a high definition remake of the first game in the series, Halo: Combat Evolved, in November.

Microsoft has given more information on the Kinect SDK to be released later in the year. It will include the body tracking software that is used by the Xbox version of the Kinect, allowing it to track up to two people at the same time and stay locked on to them even if they leave and re-enter the frame. In addition, they promise to allow the microphone array to be used with the PC's speech recognition API. So, not only will future Kinect projects be able to track you — they can listen to what you say.http://hardware.slashdot.org/story/1...ack-and-Listen

EA has put out four new screenshots for its new SSX game - which used to be subtitled 'Deadly Decents' but isn't anymore.
They've got snow, snowboarders and snowboards - all the things you'd be totally shocked to see in screenshots of a snowboarding game. And they're really pretty.
EA recently released a new SSX developer diary that's well worth a watch. It talks about the game's tricks, which EA aims to make 'awesome and easy' without the usual frustrations of trick-based games. It also shows off concept art for some of the courses, which includes a glimpse of what looks like the player skydiving in a wingsuit.

New first party gaming experiences will lead innovation for motion camera this year
Format holder Microsoft is ramping up its support for Kinect with a raft of new games and innovations.
The firm already has a host of first party titles in different genres such as Kinect Sports, Dance Central and Kinectimals, but has plans to announce a line-up of brand new titles as early as E3 this year.
“I can guarantee that Rare and all of our other studios are looking at what we’re doing on Kinect and coming up with some amazing new experiences that people will love,” Microsoft’s UK GM for retail sales and marketing Neil Thompson told MCV. “That’s what we’re focusing on.”
Rare’s studio manager Scott Henson said: “We’ve got E3 coming up, and there’ll be lots of exciting things happening there.”
The first-party Microsoft developer also hinted we’ll soon see Kinect’s next wave of games which will take the technology to a new level. And Rare wants to be leading the charge.
“As a first party studio, our job is to lead innovation on the platform,” added Henson. “We take that seriously, and you’ll see plenty from us in the coming months. I’m sure you’ll see loads from third-party too.”
