The latest patch for Fallout: New Vegas is reportedly causing some Xbox 360 users serious problems.
According to a number of posts on the game'sofficial forum, many players have been unable to load saved games since installing update 1.3 this morning, or are experiencing regular system crashes.
"Great, get the day off, settled down in front of the Xbox to play New Vegas and guess what, it freezes. Thanks Bethesda!" wrote one poster.
"As with everyone else, the new update has wrecked my game, got the warning about losing content and now it won't load up my past saves."
A post on publisher Bethesda's Twitter feed acknowledged the problem and insisted a fix was in the works.
"We're aware some folks are having New Vegas save issues," it read. "We're working with Microsoft on this and should have more information soon."
This isn't the game's first bug-related controversy – the action RPG sequel has been plagued by technical issues since launch.
Reports on Tuesday stated that a number of senior staff at developer Obsidian have been made redundant this week.

Jurassic Park: The Game is heading to Xbox 360 this Autumn as a full retail release, developer Telltale Games has confirmed.
Though the recently delayed game is still expected to follow Telltale's traditional episodic release structure on PC and Mac, the 360 retail version will gather together all the content on one disc.
A PlayStation 3 version will launch "simultaneously" with the Xbox 360 game, though Telltale is yet to confirm whether that too will be a single boxed release or staggered over PlayStation Network, as has been the case with its recent Back to the Future series.
Earlier this week, Telltale announced a new agreement with Microsoft that will see it publishing its own games on the Xbox 360.

Worried about your Xbox Live personal data? Don't be. Microsoft has moved to reassure its customers concerned about the protection of their data following the PlayStation Network hack that has seen personal details tied to some 77 million accounts stolen.
Microsoft told Eurogamer that "the security around our Xbox Live service and member information is our highest priority," but refused to comment further on the crisis that has afflicted Sony PlayStation. There are over 30 million registered Xbox Live accounts around the world.
Yesterday concerns were raised after Microsoft warned Xbox Live users of "phishing" attempts on secure data while gamers played smash-hit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
"Users may receive potential phishing attempts via title specific messaging while playing Modern Warfare 2," the Xbox Live Status page warned.
"We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience."
The warning, which is still live, followed an apparent temporary lifting of Xbox Live bans on people who own a modified Xbox 360.
Applicable gamers were, for a short time, able to log back into Xbox Live, although the privilege was quickly revoked.
Some speculated that it was a result of Microsoft testing its own security in the wake of the entire PlayStation Network being compromised.

It was pretty much certain anyway, but Microsoft has put the official stamp on tomorrow's much-rumoured release of Hulu Plus on Xbox 360.
For those of you that live under a rock, or somewhere with no technology - like Peterborough or something - Hulu is a video streaming service that beams out shows from US networks ABC, Comedy Central, FOX, NBC, MTV and more.
On any normal day, the service will be restricted to Xbox Live Gold users and will cost $7.99 a month. Better cough up those coins.
But for the first week it'll be open and free to all who fancy a try. From April 29 to May 6 anyone with a Gamertag (in US of course, since Hulu is a US-only service) will be able to log in and start watching TV shows for free.
Isn't that nice?

Microsoft's Kinect is clearly gunning to grab the Guinness record for most Guinness records. Back in March, the hands-free peripheral nabbed a certificate naming it the "Fastest Selling Consumer Electronics Device," and now the Xbox Live and Kinect Sports teams are the joint owners of the record for "The Largest Online 100 Metre Sprint" -- after Microsoft managed to convince 10,539 of its closest pals to help it run in place via Xbox Live earlier this month. According to Redmond, the long-winded accomplishment is under consideration for inclusion in a Guinness volume -- though admittedly only theGamer's Edition spinoff, itself a shoo-in for "most superfluous record book."

April 28th, 2011, 00:17 Posted By: wraggster
The devastating attack on the PlayStation Network (PSN) is yet another illustration of how technology-savvy criminals are determined to get their hands on our personal information.
As gamers rued the missed opportunity for online play over the holiday weekend, hackers were able to embark on an Easter hunt around the PSN, picking up small clues which could lead to a bigger prize: card fraud and identity theft.
The hack, which has led to the network being unavailable for over a week, has left observers wondering if a company as vast and seemingly advanced as Sony can get hit, who out there is safe?
The answer, according to experts, is no-one - and something similar will almost certainly happen again.
"We're moving into an era of 'steal everything'," said David Emm, a senior security researcher for Kaspersky Labs.
Continue reading the main story “Start Quote
There's always a trade off in security between usability and being able actually get at what you want to get at - and making it secure”
End Quote Blaine Price Open University
He believes that cyber criminals are now no longer just targeting banks or retailers in the search for financial details, but instead going after social and other networks which encourage the sharing of vast amounts of personal information.
Soft targets
Because of the need to be widely accessible and easy-to-use, networks like PSN are seen as being more vulnerable to attack than banks or big retailers.
"Any lock can be picked," said Blaine Price, senior lecturer in computing at the Open University and an expert in data protection.
"The reason is that there's always a trade off in security between usability - being able to get at what you want to get at, and making it secure.
"Your online banking site is much more sophisticated."
Setting up a PSN account involves a lengthy and sometimes frustrating process of entering personal data - usually on a games controller. But this is a one time inconvenience, as data is saved by the network so that next time around it only takes a few steps.
A more secure option would seriously hinder this process, Mr Price argues.
"A bank would usually use two-factor authentication, where you've not just got a password.
Other gaming networks, such as Microsoft's Xbox Live, could be vulnerable, experts claim.
"It would be a real pain if every time you want to start up a game you had to scan your thumb, type in 15 digits and pull out a card reader.
"Any time you're just using a user ID and password, it's going to be a risk."
For networks like the PSN, or indeed, any system which encourages its users to share lots of data, this poses a massive problem.
Bombarded with countless passwords for a multitude of web services, users are prone to keeping the same or similar details for all.
Discovering the password on one account can often lead to clues about someone's online banking credentials, a far less difficult approach than attempting to hack the bank itself.
"The weakest link is always the individual," said David Emm.
"Clearly, trying to undermine a bank's security is a lot of effort. Whereas if you go after an individual, it's not going to be noticed, it's going to be easier to do."
Data minimisation
As news of the PSN breach emerged, the list of exposed details proved as serious as it was lengthy. Customers' names, date-of-birth, addresses and, Sony fears, their financial details were all compromised.
A more cautious observer would argue that an obvious method of preventing personal information from being taken is to simply never share it, but this is unworkable for people wanting to make use of the latest technology.
There is an on-going debate over how just how much information is necessary for the safe and secure running of a service, and how much simply bolsters the company's marketing opportunities.
At the forefront of this debate is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which said that as well as investigating whether Sony has adequate security measures in place, it will be taking a close look at exactly what data the company collected and why.
"Data minimisation is a security measure in itself," deputy information commissioner David Smith told the BBC.
"It's a very important data protection principle that you shouldn't collect excessive information or keep it longer than is necessary.
"The question about, for example, why an organisation asks for a specific date of birth, as opposed to an age band, is at the centre of our work."
In the mean time, Sony will be working to rebuild its network as securely as possible. For consumers however, worries will remain over the vulnerability of a system that they had previously trusted.
Other services too will be reviewing their own arrangements and seeking to assure customers that their details are safe.
Mr Price from the OU believes that networks must take a more open, transparent approach to security, sharing details about methods used so they can be peer-tested.
"The best thing for security is openness, believe it or not," he said.
"You publish the security method you've used, and that way experts can also test them. If lots of experts are testing your open security standard for a long time, that's usually and indication that it's pretty good.
"If you keep it secret, then it only takes one person to know the secret and then you're in trouble."

A service alert for Xbox Live has been issued, warning of "potential phishing attempts" in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - although currently there is no interruption to services.
At time of press the service alert warns that: "Users may receive potential phishing attempts via title specific messaging while playing Modern Warfare 2.
We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience."
The alert is only for the matchmaking element of Xbox Live, with no reported problems for the general service, Marketplace or accounts.
This may imply that attempts are being made to trick users into revealing personal or password information in-game, as part of the matchmaking process.
No further information is currently available from Microsoft or publisher Activision, but the alert comes as Sony is embroiled in the worst online security scandal so far experienced by the home console market.

Introduction of XBL points cards sees sector sales grow 27 per cent year-on-year
Digital may remain one of the stiffest challenges for High Street retail, but GAME's attempts to tap into the growing market have so far proved successful.
Earlier this year GAME began selling Xbox Live Arcade titles via dedicated points cards sold over the counter.
"A 'retail accelerator' effect also applies very clearly to digital products, and as a retailer we are able to sell more digital content than publishers or developers on their own," group chief executive Ian Shepherd stated.
"Sales of digital products, which include Xbox Live and Sony PSN time cards as well as points cards and downloadable content cards, grew at 27 per cent last year to £41m.
"This has continued in 2011, with UK Q1 sales up 28 per cent compared to Q1 2010."

Hey, here's some good news about a new online service coming out on a console that can currently use online services! That'll be nice for a change. According to a legit-looking scan of the June issue of OXM, Hulu Plus will launch on Xbox 360 on April 29 -- this very Friday. The last official word was "spring."
According to the magazine (if, of course, the "magazine" isn't a well-executed fake) Microsoft will promote the launch with a contest, wherein each week from April 29 through May 30, prizes will be awarded to randomly chosen Hulu Plus users. The prizes range from Beaches Resort trips to free Xbox 360 bundles and Hulu Plus subscriptions.
We've contacted Microsoft, but the company has yet to confirm or deny this report. Everyone there is probably having a .

A demo for Volition's forthcoming Red Faction: Armageddon arrives on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on 3rd May, publisher THQ has announced.
Apparently you'll be stepping into the shoes of hero Darius Mason and fighting your way through some alien-infested Martian sewers.
The revamped Nano Forge weapon will be at your disposal, letting you rebuild scenery that you've previously reduced to rubble, as well as the Magnet Gun, which allows you to lob entire buildings at your hapless foes.
No PC release for the demo is mentioned.
Eurogamer recently went hands-on with the game's multiplayer modes.
"A lot depends on the single-player's reception," wrote Dan Griliopoulos. "If that doesn't do well, players are unlikely to last long enough to try out Infestation. Even if they do, the parallels between Horde mode and this might be too strong to stomach for many players."
Find out when the full game launches on 3rd June.

Online takes priority as Valve looks to follow what it believes are market trends
Portal 2 developer Valve has reportedly suggested that the game would be the developer's last single-player game.
The news comes by way of Valve behind-the-scenes chronicler Geoff Keighley who last week published an Apple iPad application called "The final hours of Portal 2".
In the application Keighley said "Portal 2 will probably be Valve’s last game with an isolated single-player experience," saying he heard this directly from Valve boss Gabe Newell.

The forthcoming Hitman sequel reportedly in development at IO Interactive could be called Hitman: Absolution, judging by a new trademark listing filed by publisher Square Enix.
Logged by the publisher's European arm and spotted by Siliconera, the listing is for "computer game software".
Hitman 5 hasn't been officially unveiled yet, though an IO source told us last year that the game was in development and would be out by Christmas 2011"at the very earliest".
An ARG game hosted on the series' forum earlier this year threw up a possible screenshot from the expected sequel.
The last game in the stealth series, Hitman: Blood Money, came out in 2006 on PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox and Xbox 360, scoring 8/10 from Eurogamer's Kristan Reed.
"Blood Money is a fine addition to the Hitman series," he wrote, "boasting significant improvements that make it not only a more rounded, slicker affair, but a more enjoyable one in the long run."

Before you start the inevitable flaming, yes, I know there IS other dashboard downloaders, the issue I have is, the majority of them are outdated.
This isn’t bad programming, its normally because the creator has ever left the Xbox scene or has simply forgot about the application. DashGrab aims to circumvent this issue by providing an easy to update configuration file to add additional support when the time comes.
It is also open source; though credit to the author (myself) and any dashboard uploaders should be given.
*Update v0.2*
So, Aldanga released a modified version of DashGrab enabling more then 1 dashboard to be downloaded per session. The weird thing is, If you decompile the code and look, I even added everything for this, I just forgot the if statement, I apologize. Also, goto statements in .NET are manly. Not recommended.
*Update v0.3*
This fixes a bug in the way I assigned file endings, my method wasn’t effective and could be problematic, this is fixed in version 0.3. Recommended download

An opinion piece at CNN looks at Microsoft's Xbox Kinect, praising the system's capabilities not for gaming, but for what it does to the video viewing experience. "The idea of being able to ditch your table full of remote controls and just use your hands and voice to interact with the TV is compelling. It's much nicer than QWERTY keyboards, which are a terrible idea in the living room. It's also better than Wii-like remote controls, or even using an iPad or smartphone as your TV remote, a feature that cable companies are increasingly rolling out." The problem, as they see it, is Microsoft's inability to actually bring this into common usage for regular television viewing. "It seems like the company is tied too much to the Xbox's substantial gaming revenue to split the Xbox TV stuff off as a separate product — even though there's a huge population of non-gamers who probably have no interest in buying an Xbox." Perhaps this is something that can be addressed by others when the Kinect SDK is released.
