From x360usb.com:
[QUOTE]
We missed our target shipping date by just 3 days, but we got there eventually
The first batch of X360USB PRO is in the process of being quality tested and packed and is expected to leave our factory in China (+8 GMT) on Thursday March 10th.
We have paid for the fastest shipping service possible, but even so, several hundred kilos will take more than just a day or two
Our main resellers have given us an order so they each get a quantity of the no-case "early adopter" version, and then of course they will get the rest of their orders which will include the complete unit including case. We expect those to start leaving the factory on March 25th (This is a conservative estimated date. It could be a few days before or after). Please bear in mind that not all resellers have put early orders in, so some of them probably won't have stock at the same time as others. That is through no fault of our own and we can only cater to those who made their orders well in advance. We suggest you check with your preferred reseller to make sure they have placed their orders in time.
Resellers have also asked us to remind you that they will be shipping to their customers on an date-ordered basis. So as always with a pre-order type product it is first come, first served. So those who were lucky enough to order from day one will be first on the list.
Bear in mind that there are tens of thousands of IC's to program and we have strict quality assurance procedures in place where each and every unit is run through a serious of tests individually to make sure you receive the best quality product.
We worked real hard on this one and are very excited to see everyone's reaction as to how simple it is to use. Thank you for your patience, not too long now
After months of use as a development and beta test channel, #X360USB has now gone live on EFNET as a public support channel for the X360USB PRO. Feel free to drop by

News via http://www.emulation64.com/view/2005...elopment-news/
weinerschnitzel posted an update about Surreal 64 CE at EmuTalk. Surreal 64 CE is a Nintendo 64 Emulator for the original Xbox.
Hey guys, with all of the PM's asking about various projects, I think its necessary we properly introduce ourselves.
The Xbox lamers have not given up with n64 emulation on the Xbox! Surreal 64 has been a landmark emulator (set of 3 actually) that has undergone many changes and has been in many different hands since its release in January 2004. The CE tag represents the "Community Edition" to recognize everyone that contributed.
The phenomenal work that oDD and Lantus did would be nothing without the work from the developers that call EmuTalk their home.
Over at xbox-scene.com, freakdave, Ez0n3, and myself have been working to improve the n64 experience on the xbox by porting more plugins, 1964 1.1, and improving the launcher that GogoAckman introduced in the XXX releases.
Thanks Azimer, Schibo, Retroralph, Zilmar & the PJ64 crew for responding to our annoying messages and being kind to strangers.
Big Thanks also to the Emu and Plugin developers: Schibo & Rice, Jabo & Zilmar, Epsilon & Realityman, Hacktarux, Azimer, JttL, richard42, death--droid & microdev, and anyone else I forgot.
You can track our progress at: surreal64ce.wikispaces.com
We are also in #surreal64ce on EFNET.

According to "some reliable tipster types" speaking with ZDNet, Microsoft may be adding some new features to IPTV on the Xbox 360. The various tipsters specifically named "Orapa" -- a Botswanan city known for its enormous diamond mine -- as the codename for said project. Allegedly, Microsoft has plans to combine Xbox Live and its Mediaroom IPTV service, said to be heading to the Xbox 360 first with Windows/Windows Phone 7/set-top box following.
Orapa is said to incorporate "Xbox Live social features (like Avatars and recommendations)," and "Kinect sensing capabilities," as well as another rumored Microsoft project -- a video/music service codenamed "Ventura."
And if the rumors are correct, the service could be available by later this year -- ZDNet speculates that we could even see a test preview some time this month, though we're not holding our breath. Sources also indicate a "holiday 2011" launch, so we'll find out if this is all smoke has any fire behind it.

Microsoft has launched a counter-attack against hackers who used an Xbox Live exploit earlier this week to thieve huge numbers of MS Points.
According to a statement handed down toGamasutra, the platform holder intends to invalidate ill-gotten codes and track down the perpetrators.
"We are aware of the situation and have taken steps to invalidate the codes obtained illegitimately," it read.
"We take safety and security very seriously and require that Xbox Live members use the service in compliance with applicable laws and specifically prohibit people from engaging in illegal activity as a part of our Terms of Use and Code of Conduct.
"Our Policy and Enforcement team is evaluating whether or not certain individuals have violated the Terms of Use for Xbox Live and will take the appropriate enforcement on an individual basis. Codes obtained legitimately by users will not be impacted."
Microsoft also insisted that the $1.2 million dollar figure that early reports claim the scam had cost the platform holder was well wide of the mark.
"We can't share specific numbers, but the figure is nowhere near the amount that has been reported," explained a spokesperson.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 add-on Kinect is the fastest-selling consumer electronics device ever – we know because Guinness World Records says so.
The controller-free motion-sensing device sold an incredible 10 million units between its 4th November 2010 launch and 3rd January – that's an average of 133,333 units per day.
But which products did Kinect beat to top spot on the fastest-selling list?
Here are the Guinness-endorsed top four best-selling consumer electronics devices ever by units sold per day:- Kinect: 133,000 (released 4th November, 2010)
- iPhone 4: 120,000 (released 24th June, 2010)
- Wii: 85,000 (released 19th November, 2006)
- iPad: 50,000 (released 3rd April, 2010)
"When researching this record, we looked at a broad sample of comparable devices and narrowed it down to the five most likely competitors," Gaz Deaves, gaming editor for Guinness World Records, told Eurogamer.
"Of particular interest in the list is the iPhone 4, which narrowly missed out on the record in spite of the fact that it costs at least four times as much as Kinect."
The original iPhone managed around 17,000 sales per day during its launch period. Also missing out are the Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Microsoft has called on Xbox 360 owners to help it improve Xbox Live.
Xbox Live Labs is an optional testing program that performs a "number of network tests from your console to Xbox Live".
Microsoft mouthpiece Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb said Xbox 360 owners won't be forced into participating in Xbox Live Labs.
"These results are recorded solely for the purpose of testing and improving the service," he wrote on the Major Nelson blog. "Although we want your support, participating in Xbox Live Labs is entirely optional and voluntary.
"These results are recorded solely for the purpose of testing and improving the service and will not be used to identify you."
If you decide Xbox Live Labs is for you, Microsoft will send you virtual gifts. Each completed test rewards an Avatar item and a zero point achievement – an achievement that awards no points.
Three Avatar items and three zero point achievements are available, including a lab coat, brain helmet and crazy mad scientist hair.
There's a downside, though: you won't be able to use other Xbox Live activities, such as gaming, watching movies or downloading music, while running the program. Your internet connectivity may also be slower, Microsoft warned.
Xbox Live Labs runs from 10-27th March, and is open to all Xbox Live members living in the US. Once completed Microsoft will "evaluate when and how we'll roll this out to other Xbox LIVE regions".

Grand Theft Auto IV has shipped almost 20 million unit worldwide since its launch in early 2008, Take-Two has confirmed.
This figure, it notes, includes shipments of the 'Complete Edition' and 'Special Edition' versions of the game.
This has seen total sales for the franchise past the 100 million mark since the original game released on PSone in 1997.
The firm's other Rockstar-developed titles have also done well. Red Dead Redemption has sold "more than" 8 million units. Meanwhile the Midnight Club and Max Payne franchises have sold 18 million and 7 million units respectively.
On the 2K side, the BioShock franchise has passed the 8 million sales mark, the Civilization franchise has done 10 million, Borderlands has passed 4 million and Mafia has done nearly five million.
All sales figures are as of February 19, 2011.
The rumour mill has recently taken aim at Rockstar's next GTA effort, with nods to it being codenamed 'Rush' in a run of recently-discovered casting calls from a firm regularly used by Rockstar.

An Xbox Live Arcade exploit that allowed hackers to stockpile Microsoft Points has cost the platform holder $1.2m, according to reports.
According to Save and Quit, earlier this week hackers posting on The Tech Game forum figured out an algorithm to add to used codes that would let them be re-used.
Users could stockpile points just be clicking refresh over and over again. One scallywag claimed to have snagged $150 worth of points in just 20 minutes.
Microsoft quickly caught on and put a stop to all the fun, but not before pirates had apparently netted more than a million dollars worth of free points.
But crime never pays, right? Wrong. Due to the way the exploit worked, it seems that there is no way for the platform holder to track down any of the perpetrators.

Zune hasn't gotten much love from Microsoft as of late, but that might change over time -- ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley noticed that the company is staffing up for a cloud-based multimedia project (by a group known as "Ventura Media Services") directed at PCs, TVs and mobile devices. "The team is a tight group of music and video lovers that create services and experiences revolving around music/video discovery and consumption," read a series of job postings that date back at least as far as July of 2010, calling for software developers in Beijing and Redmond who are familiar with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. (Two of them have "Zune" in the job title.) While it's hard to say if this project is a major focus for Microsoft no matter how often the job posting says "large scale" (we count four times) it'd definitely be nice to have some competition for Google and Apple when they start drawing the multimedia-streaming battle lines.

TV streaming is in the works for Xbox Live and could launch later this year, according to new reports.
According to ZDNet sources, the forthcoming service, which is codenamed Orapa, will be a combination of Xbox Live and Microsoft's Mediaroom desktop TV set-up.
Xbox Live social features, avatars, Kinect controls and as yet unannounced music services will all be incorporated.
A Winter 2011 launch is mooted, with a test preview build due to be ready this month.
This isn't the first we've heard of an Xbox 360 TV service. In November, reports claimed that Microsoft had been holding talks with various media organisations to license TV networks for a new on-console project.
Then last month US chat-show giant Conan O'Brien was reportedly also approached by Microsoft but turned down the deal because there were too many unknowns.
We've asked Microsoft for comment and will update if they choose to respond.

You don't hear much about the Toy Soldiers series, but it seems the half-a-million copies of the first game sold via Xbox Live warranted the making of a sequel which looks like it'll be arriving soon.
Entitled Toy Soldiers: Cold War, the sequel takes on a new 1980s theme and packs new co-op gameplay and new mini games.
"The Cold War is decided when '80s era action toys come alive and wage war! "Toy Soldiers: Cold War" blends intense first person combat with addictive action strategy, whether you're scrapping solo or jumping into the fray with friends," explains the PR.
The game is set to appear at this coming weekend's PAX show alongside other XBLA including The Gunstringer - the Kinect-controlled shooter that looks like great fun.

Hardware and sales an 'overwhelming success' says Xbox firm as device scores Guinness World Record
Over 10m Kinect devices and 10m Kinect games have been sold worldwide, Microsoft has announced.
In fact the format holder, with Guinness World Records' support, is claiming it's the fastest selling consumer electronics device ever after hitting the milestone just over three months after launch.
The device "sold an average of 133,333 units per day for a total of eight million units in its first 60 days between November 4th 2010 and January 3rd 2011" the two said.
Since then, though, the number of Kinect software releases has quietened down somewhat post-Christmas. But Microsoft says more 'transformative Kinect games and entertainment experiences are to come'.
These include the new Avatar Kinect 'marionette' functions for Xbox Live player characters, plus third party titles Body and Brain Connection” (Namco Bandai), Michael Jackson The Experience (Ubisoft), Child of Eden” (Q Entertainment/Ubisoft), XBLA title The Gunstringer (Twisted Pixel Games) Kung Fu Panda 2 video game (THQ), Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do (2K Play) and Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster (Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment).

Gaming industry analyst Michael Pachter has updated his predictions about the console price cuts he anticipates will occur this year. A Wedbush Securities update distributed this morning said, "We expect Microsoft to announce a price cut at this year's E3 Expo in June, and expect Sony and Nintendo to rapidly follow suit." Until then, Pachter expects that consoles sales will steadily decline, with the 3DS providing enough juice to bring things back into the positives in April.
The report predicts that Microsoft will likely capitalize on the success of Kinect by dropping the price of its core Xbox 360 bundle to "under $300," adding "we are confident that by holiday 2011, all three consoles will be at least $50 cheaper than they are today." Why, with that kind of money, we could almost buy a new fuel cell for our spaceyacht's hyperdrive!
Oh, right -- the report also predicts the invention of spaceyachts. We meant to mention that earlier.

A series of job postings from Microsoft have hinted that the Xbox firm is starting work on new console hardware.
Positions on LinkedIn (brought to light on Beyond3D) called for agraphics hardware architect to work on "next-generation console architectures from conception through implementation", plus a senior architect and performance engineer for the Xbox Console Architecture Group.
Also sought was a senior hardware design verification engineer, "responsible for the design verification and qualification of the Xbox console at the component, motherboard, and system levels."
With no further details available as yet, the positions do not yet confirm whether Microsoft is working on a new console, further revision of the current one, or something else entirely.

No sooner has Activision pulled the plug on Guitar Hero and DJ Hero than another Hero shapes for the big-time - Dance Hero.
Remember Activision applying for the Dance Hero trademark three years ago? Well according toKotaku, Activision is ready to put that name to use.
Songs linked with the project include "2012" by Jay Sean, "Out of Space" by The Prodigy, "The Way I Are" by Timbaland and "Take Over Control" by Afrojack.
There's no word on a developer nor platforms, although Kinect, Move, Wii are a likely trio.
Guitar Hero founder Harmonix has, of course, found success with Kinect dancing title Dance Central. Here we go again?

It appears that whatever Sony did to mitigate security issues in its most recent PlayStation 3 patch has enabled Infinity Ward to address its "unplayable" version of Modern Warfare 2. Creative strategist Robert Bowling announced on Twitter that a patch "will release on PlayStation 3 worldwide on March 8," with an Xbox 360 and PC release following at some point. The patch, Bowling said, is specifically intended "to address hacking."
Bowling detailed the process on the Infinty Ward forums, having updated his original post about the PS3 situation as new information was available from IW while staying intentionally light on details, "as we don't want to give out any information that could potentially hinder the security any further." He additionally noted that the patch "will also address a small geo exploit on the map Fuel, which players exploited in order to get inside a rock on the outskirts of the map." Apparently some players were ... rocking that exploit real hard.

Tired of Kinect hacks yet? We hope not, as the frequency and ingenuity of them only seems to be increasing with each passing week. The three in this latest group all fall more or less under the banner of performance art, and include two hacks that let you control two very different avatars -- a virtual puppet in the "We Be Monsters" project and the very real "RoboThespian" -- as well one that creates a virtual pin board that's perfect for your next rave. If the RoboThespian looks a little familiar, it's because it's actually been in development since 2005, but it recently got a Kinect-enhanced upgrade for its appearance at CeBIT this month. Head on past the break for videos of all three hacks in action, and hit up the links below for some additional details.
