Bethesda has announced Hearthfire, a second DLC pack for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that lets players build their own homes from the ground up.
In addition to building the house, players can expand it to what Bethesda's announcement describes as "a sprawling compound". You'll have to defend it from unwanted guests and can even adopt children.
Hearthfire will be released on September 4 for Xbox 360, costing 400 Microsoft Points. If the first Skyrim DLC, Dawnguard, is any measure, a PC release will follow a month or so later while PS3 players will continue to get the shortest of shrifts: two months on from the Xbox 360 release of Dawnguard, there's still no word on when it will launch for PS3.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 developer Treyarch has begun teasing fans of the series' Zombies mode ahead of an upcoming reveal.
A new image suggests that at least one Zombies game type will be playable on Nuketown 2025, the re-imagining of the popular multiplayer map from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Treyarch has said that the fan favourite Zombies mode will run on Black Ops 2's improved multiplayer engine, allowing for double the players and double the undead. There'll be fresh game modes too.
"Treyarch have given their zombie team free reign to do pretty much whatever they want with the mode regardless of the direction the campaign is headed in," we wrote in our first Black Ops 2 preview.
A separate image released by Treyarch last night also teases the reveal of "something special" later today, which could be a special edition of the game.

he third chapter of Telltale's The Walking Dead will hit the US PlayStation Network today and Xbox Live Arcade, PC and Mac tomorrow.
 However, The Long Road Ahead has yet to receive a confirmed PSN release date outside of America."The title is in submission with our international partners at SCEE, and as soon as Telltale Games receives a release confirmation, a date will be announced," a studio representative toldIGN.
The Walking Dead Episode 2, Starved for Help, will be available on iOS on August 29 as an in-app purchase.

Mojang has announced the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has sold 3.6m copies since its May launch.
"Was really surprised to see that 3.6 million people have now purchased Minecraft for Xbox," Mojang's Daniel Kaplan wrote onTwitter.
Add to that over 7m sold on PC (as of earlier this month), plus well over 1m moved on mobile devices (milestone was reached in March), and it's not a stretch to throw out a ballpark figure of 12m units sold lifetime across all platforms.
The game continues to sell at a very high level on the 360, in the process giving the often criticized XBLA platform a major boost (at least for the time being). 4J Studios, developer of the port, is currently working on a significant update for the version as well.

MS looking to staff Xbox and Kinect projects
OnLive's recent business troubles and subsequent staff reduction have left many people seeking new employment, and Microsoft is stepping up to see if they can get some new hires. The giant is using EventBrite to do some recruiting, stating on the site:
"We are eager to speak to individuals and teams affected by the OnLive transition. With the stunning success of Xbox/Kinect and the accelerated growth of this business, we are looking to add key players who want to make a real impact in creating groundbreaking new products and services."
Microsoft has positions open in both Mountain View and at their HQ in Redmond, Washington. Microsoft had been rumored to be interested in the acquisition of OnLive back in 2010. They may not have wanted to buy the company, but Microsoft is certainly willing to sift the rubble for some good employees.

xMoG v1.0 by 'neobomb', is a port of The Maze of Galious Remake to the first XBOX.
According to him, lots of 'cool' things were taken from the Wii Port like the virtual keyboard to enter demon's name, console friendly main menu, console friendly load system, and console friendly special items use.

Happy Wars, an adorable multiplayer action combat game, just got even easier to try out. Microsoft announced that it will release ToyLogic's game as XBLA's first for-real free-to-play game. When Happy Wars launches this "autumn," it'll be a free download for Xbox Live Gold users, supported by the purchase of "lavishly rendered items" to customize your character.
Microsoft has made moves toward free-to-play on XBLA before, but never quite closed the deal. Crimson Alliance seemed to be embracing a free-to-play model, but instead just had a glorified demo and "flexible" pricing. Dungeon Fighter Live is based on a F2P PC game, released on XBLA as a $10 purchase. Rumors had Microsoft adjusting infrastructure to support F2P last year.

Cave's newest arcade shoot-em-up, DoDonPachi Saidaioujou, is coming to Japanese Xbox 360s next spring, the company announced today. Saidaioujouhit the country's arcades back in April.
The shmup specialists only just released 2011's Akai Katana on Western shores, so it may be a while before Saidaiojou's brand of vertical bullet-hell reaches us. In the meantime, we can look ahead to the game's dress-up shtick.
Your ship's abilities and the game's difficulty depend on which outfit you choose for your supporting "elemental doll." Naturally, the skimpy bikini results in the hardest difficulty – though all the outfits look pretty skimpy, as you can see in the arcade game's trailer above.
In addition to HD visuals, a new easy mode, and a 360-specific mode, the console port will receive a new elemental doll. Presumably with new outfits. Presumably skimpy.

Netflix recently announced that its people search feature has landed on Xbox 360. The searching method, which is already included in the PS3 Netflix app, includes actors and directors among its search results. It's especially useful if you like having Julia Roberts movie marathons (and really, who doesn't?). People search also works with Kinect, but good luck getting the system to understand "M. Night Shyamalan."
Also, we discovered that "Tommy Wiseau" does not turn up any results using people search. You're tearing him apart, Netflix.

Mojang has release Skin Pack 2 for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft.
 There are a total of 45 skins, most of which are themed after characters from other games like Gears of War, Left 4 Dead and - now here's a blast from the past - Jet Force Gemini. Sah-weet.The whole pack costs 160 MS Points, which is about $2, or £1.30 in real money.

Can't get enough coverage of the US presidential race even with YouTube in the mix? Microsoft's Election 2012 Hub for Xbox Live may be able to satisfy your inner political junkie. Redmond's initiative will provide video of town hall events at both the Democratic and Republican national conventions, daily content from NBC and full coverage of results as ballots are cast and counted on November 6th. Throughout live streams of the debates, users will be able to rate the performances of public office hopefuls and see what marks other viewers give them in real-time. Information on voter registration, politicians and their take on issues will also be included. According to Microsoft, roughly 40 percent of Xbox-owning voters surveyed aren't concretely committed to a candidate running for the Oval Office, placing them in the highly-prized swing voter category. The service won't launch until the Grand Old Party's pow-wow kicks off on August 27th, but we hear there's plenty of relevant reading to keep you busy until then.

Activision vice president of mobile development Greg Canessa has told CVG that mobile devices will reach the Xbox 360's graphical capabilities within their next generation.
"The CPU and GPU capabilities of mobile devices will reach Xbox 360 levels of graphical fidelity and processing power within the next generation," Canessa said.
"Activision will be creating a mix of casual and immersive gaming experiences on mobile, but as I say smartphones are more and more allowing for us to create those kinds of experiences. The games that Activision publishes on console, the games it publishes on PC, pretty soon we'll be publishing those kinds of experiences on tablets and smartphones."
Canessa explained that Activision is all-in when it comes to mobile development and is bringing some of its biggest IP to the table.
"We have about 350 different brands and IPs to work with. That's legacy IP, that's triple-A IP and that's licences with other companies. We want to create mobile games from all of these aspects of the Activision portfolio, and build a variety of experiences," he said.
"I would definitely say that one of our competitive advantages is the strength of our brands. The creation of new IP is expensive, and when you consider how much money we spend on marketing our IP, we can apply that halo effect to our mobile properties. You are going to continue to see us take advantage of our big marketing campaigns to help our mobile products too."
Activision is also betting big on mobile development talent in the UK.
"What I will say is that we are in the UK to hire the best talent in the mobile space. If you look at the UK development community, some of the world's best handheld and mobile game developers are there. That's the talent we want to hire."
