Worms returns to High Street shelves next month with Mastertronic's Worms Collection.
The compilation features three entries in the series that have previously only been available via download on XBLA and PSN: Worms, Worms 2: Armageddon and Worms: Ultimate Mayhem.
The disc will also include six bonus DLC packs, adding extra weapons and levels to the helium-voiced insanity.
"We are thrilled to see our three best games gathered on a single disc," said Team 17's marketing director Nick Clarkson.
"You have to have a heart of stone or dislike games to resist such a proposal. In short: we can not wait to see them populate the shelves."
Worms Collection will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on August 31st.

Namco Bandai’s sequel to popular shooter Sniper: Ghost Warrior has been delayed again untill 2013.
This is the second delay to hit the game, which is caused by the title needing additional polish.
UK Marketing the PR director Lee Kirton told Videogamer: “I can confirm that this is true. We will provide a full announcement with City Interactive soon.
“It’s key we all want this title to be fantastic in the genre and the leading Sniper game for sure. The engine is fantastic and the level of polish is also key to the title’s success.
“As soon as the official announcement through distributor is available I will provide it.”
Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 was set for an October 2012 release, which would have put it up against FPS giants Call of Duty, Halo and Medal of Honor.

Console giant joins wave of games development studios expanding in UK capital
Microsoft is to open a new games studio in London, MCV has revealed.
The company is hiring for senior staff to run the studio, which will sit alongside established UK teams Rare, Lionhead and the newer Soho Studios.
“EMEA is a key market for us and we continue to cultivate the best talent and focus on growing our business, with this role focused on the continued expansion of our Microsoft Studios business in the region,” read a statement from the company.
The studio may be part of a new effort to add first-party free-to-play and online casual experiences to Xbox, with job listings hunting for those well versed in those areas plus familiarity with online, mobile and cloud services.

Exec blasts claims that smartphones and tablets will kill the console games industry.
Speaking to sister title MCV, Xbox brainchild Seamus Blackley waives off predictions that mobiles will become the preferred gaming method ahead of consoles.
Blackley now works in the mobile space, developing games at Innovative Leisure, and says, "Any business model will work as long as you have the content.
"You can now make mobile games that are really compelling. It no longer requires a high cost device. But there’s nothing like playing Uncharted on a console in front of your TV.
"It is not fair to compare console to mobile, there are different audiences. And when it is the same audience, you will find a lot of them play with their mobile device during the day and a console when they get home."
As Blackley said, mobiles and consoles are two different beasts entirely.

Sigma R&D has won first prize in a gesture challenge to show just how much more talent -- like sign language translation and light saber fun -- can be unlocked in a Kinect. Normally the Microsoft device can only scope body and full mitt movements, but the research company was able to track individual fingers with a Kinect or similar sensor, plus its custom software, allowing a user's hand to become a more finely tuned controller. To prove it, the company introduced a virtual lightsaber to a subject, tracking his swordsmanship perfectly and using his thumb extension to turn it on and off. The system even detected when a passing gesture was made, seamlessly making a virtual transfer of the weapon. The same tech was also used to read sign language, displaying the intended letters on the screen for a quick translation. The SDK is due in the fall, when we can't wait to finally get our hands on a Jedi weapon that isn't dangerous or plasticky. To believe it for yourself, see the videos after the break.

July 26th, 2012, 00:35 Posted By: wraggster
The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld two complaints levelled against on of Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ads.
The ad showcased a number of the countries featured in the game and, in the words of the ASA, contained “computer-generated scenes of New York under military assault, with buildings exploding and catching fire, soldiers loading guns and a submarine firing rockets”, “armed men firing at a lorry” and “further scenes of armed warfare and destruction, including soldiers firing weapons, military vehicles firing rockets at buildings and explosions”.
The complaints centred on the time of the broadcast, which took place at 2:30pm in the afternoon on Sunday November 6th during a Premier League football match on Sky Sports 1
The only restriction placed on the short at the time was that it should not be broadcast during or adjacent to programs designed or likely to appeal to those under 16.
In response, Activision rightfully highlighted that it abided by the rules that it had been given, and even produced a revised edit specifically for the time slot. Plus the ad had been given a PG rating by the BBFC.
Nonetheless, the ASA has now ruled against Activision, saying: “We considered that the scenes of violence and destruction, together with the sound effects and music, could cause distress to some children who might see the ad.
“Although we noted that the ad was only shown during the football, we concluded that it was inappropriate for broadcast during the day when young children might be watching and the ex-kids restriction was insufficient. We considered a post 7.30pm restriction would have been more appropriate.”
The only consequence is that Activision will not be allowed to broadcast the ad again any earlier than 7:30pm. Which presumably is of no consequence at all as Call of Duty advertising has already turned its attention to November’s Black Ops II.

Recruitment drive for UK Pro Evolution Soccer dev team to begin next month
Konami has officially revealed that it is opening a new studio in London.
A statement from the publisher says it expects the local team to ensure its football series remains 'fresh and exciting', with expectations already high for the development team.
A recruitment drive for the studio will begin in earnest next month.
PES has faced stiff competition from FIFA, after EA invested heavily in the EA Canada made game.
But Konami isn't taking the challenge lightly these days. The new studio will be the European wing of PES Productions, which usually handles the development of PES out of Tokyo.

The man who invented the Xbox has dismissed the notion that the console market is dying off.
Seamus Blackley – who proposed the creation of Microsoft’s first console – now works on mobile games at Innovative Leisure. Yet he believes the likes of mobile and social will complement consoles, not destroy them.
“Any business model will work as long as you have the content,” he told MCV.
“It is the medium that pulls people through the business models and not the other way around.
“You can now make mobile games that are really compelling. It no longer requires a high cost device. But there’s nothing like playing Uncharted on a console in front of your TV.
“It is not fair to compare console to mobile, there are different audiences. And when it is the same audience, you will find a lot of them play with their mobile device during the day and a console when they get home.
“I’m amused by journalists who have that play pattern then write that the console business is dead. I started off in PC and people predicted the death of that because of the console. It didn’t happen. It was the same with the arrival of TV, which terrified the movie people. But that hasn’t killed off movies, they complemented each other.”

Microsoft shipped 1.1 million Xbox 360 consoles in the three months ending June 30, a decline of 35 per cent from last year's 1.7 million.
Despite that decline, Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division - which includes its Xbox business - saw revenue rise 20 per cent in the fourth quarter and eight per cent for the year as a whole. That, however, was largely put down to the acquisition of Skype.
The company as a whole reported quarterly revenue of $18.06 billion, an increase of almost four per cent. Operating income, however, plummeted from $6.1 billion last year to just $192 million, thanks to a previously announced charge of $6.19 billion for the impairment of goodwill.
Declines in the Xbox division, while no doubt disappointing, are hardly a surprise. With the console now in its seventh year on shelves, sales are bound to fall, especially with the next generation of console hardware kicking off later this year with Wii U, and Microsoft and Sony expected to follow suit in 2013. US market reseacher NPD Group has been reporting monthly declines in hardware sales for some time.

Wow, it’s amazing what [Carl] was able to build using an Xbox 360 control PCB as the base for his robot. His forum posts just touches the surface of the build, but he linked to a PDF file which has the full details.
This build basically attaches sensors and replacement motors to the controller board… and that is it! Some distance sensors are connected to the analog inputs for the left and right trigger. The whiskers use a couple of leaf switches soldered to controller button pads. The motors are geared replacements that use the same connectors as the rumble motors did.
The idea is that the controller is connected to a PC via the wireless radio it has on the PCB. Once the connection is made the PC software can read from all of the sensors and drive the motors accordingly. It would also be really easy to use a single-board solution like the RPi to do away with the need for a remote PC. But this is a fantastic start, and an approach which we had never before considered. See some video of the little guy getting around the room after the break.

Game sales for indie smash-hit on all platforms fly past 10m
Mojang’s hugely popular world building title Minecraft has surpassed three million downloads on Xbox Live Arcade.
Reaching the milestone means that the game has raised more than $60million for the Sweden studio on Xbox 360 alone.
Minecraft has been a huge hit for the developer, founded by Marcus ‘notch’ Persson, with sales on all platforms now far surpassing the 10m copies announced in May.
Minecraft XBLA was released for Xbox 360 on March 9th, and quickly sold more than 400,000 copies in a single day.

Total revenues were up in Q4 and the full year
[h=3]Microsoft[/h]www.microsoft.com
Microsoft has just announced its fourth quarter and full-year fiscal results for the period ended on June 30, and the numbers showed some positive sales growth for the Entertainment and Devices division, which houses the Xbox business. For the fourth quarter, sales grew by 20 percent, totaling $1.78 billion and for the year, revenues climbed from $8.92 billion to $9.59 billion.
While sales were up, profits were actually down for both the fourth quarter and the fiscal year. Q4 saw a net loss of $263 million (as compared with a net income of $11 million a year earlier). On the bright side, the full year finished in the black with total income of $364 million (down from $1.26 billion a year ago).
Microsoft attributed much of its revenue gains in Q4 to the addition of Skype. Xbox Live membership also grew by 15 percent, the company said. 1.1 million Xbox 360 consoles were shipped during the fourth quarter, down from 1.7 million during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011. "Even in the soft console market, Xbox 360 maintained its market share leadership position in the US," Microsoft boasted.
Overall, Microsoft had another record fourth quarter for revenue, hitting $18.06 billion. "We delivered record fourth quarter and annual revenue, and we're fast approaching the most exciting launch season in Microsoft history," said Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer of Microsoft. "Over the coming year, we'll release the next versions of Windows, Office, Windows Server, Windows Phone, and many other products and services that will drive our business forward and provide unprecedented opportunity
to our customers and partners."

Redmond's console gaming network may not have suffered a breach of security comparable to last year's PSN fumble, but that doesn't mean it hasn't braced for impact. According to Xbox Live General Manager Alex Garden, Microsoft has made great strides in account security by taking legal action against sites who share phished usernames and passwords, enacting two-step login verification for untrusted devices and pushing fresh security updates to devices. Even so, Garden says that many of Xbox Live's account protection measures rely on member profiles being up to date, and heartily encourages users to make sure their security information is accurate. Get the word directly from the horses mouth at the source link below.

'As a small independent, paying so much money makes no sense at all', says studio
Independent developer Polytron cannot patch its XBLA platformer Fez because Microsoft is charging tens of thousands of dollars for it to do so, the studio has claimed.
Speaking on its blog, the developer said it was unable to fix a save file corruption issue due to the high costs of updating a game on XBLA, and that it made no financial sense for the small studio to patch a bug affecting less than one per cent of users.
The team added that had it released the game on Steam, it would have been able to patch the title for free and it would have fixed the bugs within two weeks of launch.
“The save file delete bug only happens to less than a per cent of players,” read a statement.
“It’s a shitty numbers game to be playing for sure, but as a small independent, paying so much money for patches makes no sense at all., especially when you consider the alternative.

Xbox LIVE General Manager Alex Garden says Microsoft has "worked hard these last several months" to bolster security measures on the online service.
The firm has made several improvements and changes to further protect your account and personal details in the aftermath of the widely-reported FIFA hacking outbreak. In Garden's words, here are some of the changes made:
-We've increased notifications to members whose accounts may be compromised to add proofs, update their passwords, and, if necessary, contact Xbox support. This helps our team lock down an account quickly, investigate and restore the account to the rightful owner.
- We've taken legal action to pull down online posts of gamertags, usernames and passwords gathered from malware or phishing schemes to help protect our members.
Our Xbox LIVE Spring update included many behind the scenes improvements that help us build on security enhancements for the near future.
- We're sending unique codes to the security phone numbers and secondary email addresses provided by members to verify authorization for Xbox.com purchases or account change attempts not stemming from a member's trusted device.
- We're working to reduce market incentives for criminal activity. Engaging in identity theft, trading in stolen accounts and committing credit card fraud are illegal and violate our Terms of Use. Those involved in these activities risk criminal prosecution, account and console bans. That goes for both sellers and buyers of known stolen accounts and content.
Garden goes on to recommend that you nip online today and change your MS password, if you haven't done so already. Particularly if your password is "password" or "12345", which are apparently still top of the most common passwords according to Garden.

Double Dragon Neon, Wayforward's hilariously, garishly '80s-inspired brawler update, will bring Abobo to a new generation starting September 11, when publisher Majesco releases the game on PS3 in North America via PlayStation Network. The other half of the release date high five will take place the next day, when the XBLA version arrives, according to a post on the game's Facebook page. It'll cost $9.99.
Double Dragon Neon is a new game that riffs on the style of the original Double Dragon, featuring "mixtape" powerups and multiplayer "bro-op," a pun that is acceptable because the protagonists are literally brothers.
