Vivendi Games division Sierra has revealed Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, a stealth-action game due to debut at E3 next month.
Developed by High Moon Studios and due out next summer, The Bourne Conspiracy will combine all of Jason Bourne's trademark characteristics - including his ingenuity in hand-to-hand combat and fire-fights and his escape and evasion techniques - as witnessed in the big-screen Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy films starring Matt Damon.
Although the first screenshots suggest that High Moon won't be using Damon's face, the game's goals are seemingly indivisible from those of its parent series, making the same promise to delve into Bourne's character and "provide game presentation inspired by the aggressive film-making and frenetic action found in the films".
"High Moon has collaborated closely with Mr Ludlum's estate holders, the guardians of his creative vision, since the day we began to develop the game," says High Moon president Peter Della Penna.
"The goal of that collaboration has been to create a videogame that takes inspiration from known elements within the Bourne universe, elements that have captivated more than a quarter of a billion people around the world, with original story and gameplay that establishes a signature Jason Bourne game experience. Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy is our instalment to the series and is meant to reside on its own within the Bourne entertainment library."
Expect to learn more about what they're up to during E3, which runs from 11th to 13th July

Newly released today at Play Asia
In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community is in denial about the teenager’s recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort, preferring to turn a blind eye to the news that Voldemort has returned. Fearing that Hogwarts’ venerable Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemort’s return in order to undermine his power and take his job, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch over Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students. But Professor Dolores Umbridge’s Ministry-approved course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them and the entire wizarding community, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry takes matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves “Dumbledore’s Army,” Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.
With the ability to play multiple characters, including Harry Potter, Dumbledore and Sirius Black, the videogame of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix offers fans the opportunity to wield a wand, explore all around Hogwarts, and experience one of the most exciting and dangerous years in the life of the Boy Who Lived.

Feeling the need to connect your white Xbox 360 to your television with HDMI? In other words, do you have Elite HDMI envy? Well we just might (and we emphasize might) have stumbled across a solution that'll be available in the next few months. XCM announced that they will be coming out with an adapter that'll allow your core or premium 360 to connect to a display via HDMI and in full 1080p. But be warned and don't get your hopes up too much, because XCM is the same company that created the XFPS that our very own Richard reviewed back in the day. And let's just say it was a huge disappointment. No matter, XCM will be releasing the HDMI adapter and we'll get an official opinion on this little device when judgment day arrives. But we're staying pessimistic and you aren't going to change our minds.

Mitch Gitelman, head of Shadowrun developer FASA Studio, has given an awesome interview where he talks about the game's review scores: "I think the reviews on my game suck ass and I want to respond."
And he did, via OXM's podcast in a discussion that lasted 45 minutes. Many reviews, including ours, hit the game for not shipping with enough maps and game modes for the full price asked for the title.
We said: "The biggest disappointment in this otherwise fairly enjoyable shooter is the lack of content once you've finally grasped the formula. There are only nine similar-looking maps to choose from, with more expected down the line via downloadable content."
He said, "The most important thing is the value of what you're getting...and I think there is value there at the $60 price point."
It's a frank and honest discussion and as GamesRadar points out, "Gitelman is neither hostile nor baiting; it's just a good, meaty discussion."

The first confirmed info on what's actually different in the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5 has emerged.
Apparently the 360 version of the excellent fighter sports a higher level of anti-aliasing, which for non-tech heads means the jaggies in the PS3 game will be cleaned up and it'll hopefully look even more gorgeous than it already does.
There's also revised AI patterns planned for the Xbox 360 version, taking in to account new tactics and strategies players have conjured in the PS3 and Arcade cousins. Dojo mode meanwhile, is also set to sport new options.
What isn't quite clear at the moment is whether or not the 360 version will adopt the new 'Version C' rules that have just been rolled out in Japanese arcades, to tweak character balance. The PS3 version runs on the old Version B ruleset, and part of the reason for the 360 game's delay was thought to have something to do with the new C edition. We'll see.

Amidst the Halo 3 viral marketing explosion of the last week, another mysterious website has been discovered.
Known only as "Server 05", the website details tiny tidbits of the Forerunner's background story, through a cool Flash interface.
If you're particularly crafty, you can even unlock a Forerunner "log" movie, which goes some way in explaining why the ancient alien race isn't around any more.
The Forerunners seem to be the central theme of the Halo 3 "Iris" campaign, which Microsoft says is designed "to take gamers on an incredible journey through the Halo Universe".

Q Entertainment's lovely PR lady alerts us to the arrival of two new Lumines Live! packs next week; Tokyo Club Mix Pack and the 20 skin-strong Booster Pack.
The Booster Pack adds 20 never-before seen skins to challenge mode, including a colourful and lively piece called "Bloomy Girls", from Japanese artist Masakatsu Takagi. This one's available for 600 Microsoft points (£5.10).
The other pack lets you "experience the Tokyo club scene through LUMINES", presumably without the lady-boys and Lost in Translation-style BB-gun fights. Music includes "Heavenly Star - SOS Remix" by Genki Rockets, "House66" by Sugiurumn, "4x4 Bricks" by Techriders and "Cosmic Humming" by Muku. This one's 350 points (£2.98).
Both will be available from 9 GMT on Wednesday June 27, then purchased and hammered by CVG that very lunchtime.
What's more, Q Entertainment says it'll be donating a portion of its proceeds from the Tokyo Club Mix Pack (dubbed "SOS Charity Campaign Pack") to climate protection NGOs and causes. Good on 'em.
There's also a Lumines picture pack and theme going up for 100 (£0.85) and 150 (£1.28) Microsoft points respectively. Ours.
Check out the screenshots below and decide whether Q Entertainment has enough of your Microsoft points yet.

SEGA Racing Studio's new vision of SEGA Rally should be arriving on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network in demo form prior to release.
Racing Studio boss Guy Wilday also told Eurogamer that the team is currently targeting a September release for the game across PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PSP.
"We'll look to do potentially 360 and PS3 downloadable demos before release," Wilday said of the demo, although he admitted that content plans weren't locked down.
"We're looking at exactly how the demo's going to work and what we're going to do. The balancing act with demos is always obviously not to give too much away," he explained.
"We want people to get the experience of the game without giving the game away. So that's our challenge - we'll get some more bits of the game finished and then we'll make the final decision as to exactly what we're going to do."
During our visit to Racing Studio in sunny Solihull, near Birmingham, we also asked Wilday about the potential for PC and Xbox 360 cross-play. "I'm not sure that's going to make it in," he admitted. "We'll see. We're still finalising our PC specs to be honest with you. It's something we'd love to do, but we'll see."
Just for the hell of it, we also asked about PS3-PSP link potential. "It's something that's been discussed of course. Again, I'm not sure it's going to make it into this version," he said.
It wasn't all talk of demos, dates and cross-dressing though - we just like to ask those so we can splash news in your faces. The meat of the trip was to play SEGA Rally for the first time, and that we did. You can read our extensive first impressions of the game right now. We also have some sexy new PS3 and Xbox 360 screenshots.
And if you fancy shouting at each other about which is teh bestest consoel!11oneoneshift, you can read some of Wilday's comments on game development in an exclusive interview with our sister site GamesIndustry.biz.

Hey, remember back when Haze was a timed exclusive for the Playstation 3? Remember that other time when Ubisoft revealed its release schedule for Holiday 07 and Haze 360 was dated only a week after the PS3 version? We hope you do remember, because it looks like Ubisoft is trying to rewrite history. The release list, revealed only yesterday, has since been revised, removing the 360 and PC versions of Haze altogether. Joystiq points out, and so must we, that this series of events has an eerie symmetry to the initial mystery surrounding the 360 version of Assassin's Creed. Again, Ubisoft refuses to directly answer questions regarding PS3 exclusivity, saying only that the PS3 is "the only confirmed platform."
Will history repeat itself? Is Haze destined to appear as though it were a PS3 exclusive title? Perhaps more interesting, assuming that the game is coming to 360, is maintaining the illusion of exclusivity really important?

Sales of the Xbox 360 in Europe have hit a wall according to a new report from Screen Digest, which suggests Microsoft is struggling to expand the user base for the next-gen console.
The report also observes that the Nintendo Wii is dividing the market, with some publishers happy to ride Nintendo's coat tails to pick up business with poor quality titles, while others are betting the farm on the innovative machine.
"For Xbox 360, European hardware sales seem to have hit a wall. The target market is still too focused on adult males and the brand does not enjoy the same cachet in non-Anglo Saxon markets as it does in the US and, to a lesser extent, the UK," reads the report.
While there are no concerns about appealing to a dedicated gaming audience, "failing to break out of a small number of genres and thereby appealing to groups outside of hardcore gamer," is a bigger problem according to Screen Digest.
Despite these issues the report does highlight that some of the most anticipated titles for the coming Q4 are for the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live is described as a "beacon of hope".
According to the analysts group, the Nintendo Wii is splitting business models across the industry.
"Some publishers are investing much less saying they will leave the platform drivers to Nintendo and ride their coat tails by spending very little on mediocre quality titles which will give some return."
On the other hand, "the combination of lower development costs and fastest growing installed base confers significant economic advantages in publishing games for Wii relative to competitive consoles, and this has lead to some third-party publishers increasing investment levels in developing for the platform."
The report points out that a low return on Wii software may hamper investment by publishers in other formats, as it simply does not generate as much profit at a time when PS3 and Xbox 360 development costs are rising.
And on the PlayStation 3, the report criticises Sony for not educating consumers as to what's in the box and relying too much on the PlayStation brand. Because of this a price drop is inevitable, says Screen Digest.
"A price drop before the end of the year is inevitable and would be in line with previous PlayStation first time price reduction timings."
"Marketing material has tended towards the esoteric and abstract and has seemingly failed to resonate with the consumer."
It also points out that Sony could drop a "bombshell" by the end of the year with a combined price drop and the launch of the Home virtual networking and online game service.

A tenacious Zune user has recently stumbled across some potentially eyebrow-raising information while dipping into the device's desktop software files. It seems that embedded in an innocent looking ZuneMarketPlace.dll file is some internal code that suggests a new content partnership with MTV, VH1, and CMT the Zune Marketplace. We know that Zune software has its roots in Windows Media Player, and Microsoft and MTV are pretty tight with their Urge integration in WMP11 -- but that doesn't necessarily mean this is holdover code. The found strings are very specific about mentioning "VH1 on Zune" and the like, so that's clearly cause for speculation. Too bad they didn't find anything about Lionsgate or some other movie studios though, this thing is way overdue for some video content.

Eidos has confirmed that it plans to release Tomb Raider Anniversary on Xbox 360 as a series of downloadable episodes starting in September.
The content - Xbox Live's first ever serialisation of a full retail game - will be made available for owners of Tomb Raider Legend to purchase through Xbox Live Marketplace. In September "Episodes 1 & 2" will be offered along with a free training mission ("Croft Manor"). The following two episodes will arrive "shortly afterwards".
Eidos then plans to release a full retail version of Tomb Raider Anniversary "later in the year" that will put it within reach of consumers who did not purchase Legend.
Tomb Raider Legend owners will have to pay 2400 Microsoft points (GBP 20.40 / EUR 27.91 / USD 29.99) for all four episodes of TRA.
Jane Cavanagh, chief executive of Eidos's parent company SCi, said the episodic approach was part of the publisher's strategy to grow its presence in online and digital distribution.
"Lara has always been at the forefront of technology and this world first initiative with Microsoft really highlights that fact. Ultimately we also intend to make the title available at retail so that it reaches the maximum possible audience," she said in a statement.
Tomb Raider Anniversary is out now on PlayStation 2 and PC.

Microsoft says it takes customer concerns about Xbox 360 hardware quality "very seriously" but denies there are any "systematic issues" and won't specifically address concerns relating to defect or return rates.
"We continue to look into these things very deeply," Todd Holmdahl, Microsoft's corporate vice president of Gaming and Xbox Products Group, told Mercury News reporter Dean Takahashi.
Takahashi pressed Holmdahl on the return rate and what constitutes a normal return rate; how the figures on Xbox 360 compare to Xbox 1; how Microsoft would explain the anecdotal evidence of a high failure rate relative to PlayStation 3 and Wii; defect rates relating to yield; whether yields were good; how poor yields and high defect rates might affect the business model; whether a change of manufacturing partner (Wistron to Celestica) might have been related to product quality; whether a change to 65 nanometer chips will impact quality; whether changes to warranty policy were due to specific problems, like a problem with graphics memory; what the number one reason for a return is; whether, in fact, he could say anything about anything.
In response, Holmdahl stressed Microsoft's pride "in the box" and that people were buying lots of games, accessories and Xbox Live accounts.
He then declined to comment on the majority of Takahashi's concerns, with exceptions largely superficial ("Yield is one we focus on very closely." "We continue to redesign the box, continue to drive costs out."). He ultimately denied there were any "systematic issues", with the overriding message quite simple: "The vast majority of the people just love the product, have a great experience with it. When there is an issue, we get on it and address it as quickly as possible."
Microsoft has previously responded to concerns about Xbox 360 failure rates by waiving the cost for repairs on all Xbox 360 consoles made before 1st January 2006. This policy is reportedly no longer in place.
You can read the full exchange between Holmdahl and Takahashi on The Mercury News blog.
