Silicon Knights' Denis Dyack says the company didn't bring Too Human to E3 because it's too busy finishing the game.
The decision was made a while ago, apparently. "The reason for this decision was that we have another event planned in the future for Too Human that we thought would be more appropriate," Dyack told GameDaily BIZ.
Not that anyone could have blamed SK for staying away after all the negative publicity that its last E3 demo attracted.
But it really would have been there, said Dyack, were it not for the other event on the horizon - "as the game is coming along very well and we are excited for everyone to see it".
The other reason we didn't see it might simply have been one of release dates. Microsoft made a point of saying everything at its press conference (except for Resident Evil 5) would be released this year.
Speaking to Eurogamer afterwards about prospects for 2008, outgoing corporate vice president of interactive entertainment Peter Moore identified "Too Human, Alan Wake, Halo Wars, Fable 2, Banjo Kazooie" as five titles "that I think about for 2008".

Following the news that this year's X07 event has been cancelled, a Microsoft spokesperson has told GamesIndustry.biz that the UK will get its own Xbox 360 event instead.
"X07 is not going ahead," the spokesperson confirmed.
"We're looking at doing something here in the UK. It will be from a UK point of view, not from a European point of view."
According to the spokesperson, the timing for the new UK event is "still to be confirmed". However, he did state that it is set to take place "before Christmas".
News of the X07 cancellation emerged yesterday in a Squad XP podcast. Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg stated, "There is not a real X07 this year, but I think that we will figure out some way to talk about 2008 some time at a different event or a different type of programme."
Microsoft has so far declined to comment on why the decision was taken to cancel X07.

Peter Moore has said there is no connection between his departure from Microsoft and the recent announcement that the company is to spend USD 1 billion on Xbox 360 repairs.
Speaking in a podcast hosted by Microsoft's Larry Hryb - otherwise known as Major Nelson - Moore said his decision to resign is "completely and utterly unrelated to anything that's gone on within the business... It's purely about my family".
"This agreement between myself and EA was signed about five weeks ago, way before any of the final work that was done on the warranty," he continued. "It was completely unrelated."
Moore expressed "great excitement" regarding his new role as head of EA Sports, but also "great sadness" at leaving Microsoft.
"The deals we have in place, whether they're marketing, whether they're publishing, the incredible expertise we've built at Microsoft Game Studios and perhaps most importantly Xbox Live and the headstart that service has got - all of that's going to come together over the next few years."
But Moore acknowledged that he will be dealing with Microsoft's rivals at Electronic Arts. "I may have to pay attention to some of the other guys in my new role, but I think everybody understands the pride that I take in where we are today," he said.
Moore described his replacement at Microsoft, Don Mattrick, as "probably one of the top three people in the industry in experience and depth of knowledge".

European retailers HMV, Play and GAME have begun taking pre-orders for Xbox 360 Elite, pricing the console at GBP 329.99 - despite the fact Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement.
Xbox 360 Elite, which features a black casing, 120GB hard disk and HDMI output, is due to launch in Europe on August 24. It is already on sale in the US, where it is priced at USD 479.
Speaking to our sister site Eurogamer.net this morning, a Microsoft spokesperson said there is "nothing to announce at this time" regarding the official UK price for Elite.
When asked where the retailers could have received their information, the spokesperson suggested that a leak from another region could have occurred as the retailers have a European presence.
Last week Xbox UK marketing boss Steve McGill told Eurogamer, "If you compare it to the price difference between Xbox 360 Elite and Premium in the US, you wouldn't be far off."
The Premium sells for USD 399 - roughly 83 per cent of the price of the Elite. In the UK the Premium costs GBP 279, which would theoretically put the Elite at around GBP 336.

Microsoft just confirmed the news we exclusively broke two hours ago: Peter Moore resigned from Microsoft.
Moore will be replaced by Don Mattrick, a former president of EA and current external adviser for Microsoft, who will now lead the Interactive Entertainment Business for Microsoft. While the official release says that Moore "has decided to move his family back to the Bay Area for personal reasons and has secured another opportunity in the video games industry", we've heard that calls have already started going out within the industry confirming that the other "opportunity" is EA where he will head up EA Sports.
When we last spoke with Moore, just a week ago, he was comfortable in his element but did seem a bit more haggard than usual, perhaps because of his back-breaking E3 schedule or perhaps because he had this on his mind. Moore will stay with Microsoft through August before returning to the San Francisco Bay area.
The real question is when he will be getting those Madden cover-up tats. Hit the jump for the full on release.
Peter Moore Resigns From Microsoft to Return to Northern California Don Mattrick appointed to head Microsoft's Xbox and Games Business.
REDMOND, Wash. -- July 17, 2007 -- Microsoft Corp. today announced that Don Mattrick, a former president at Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), will lead the Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB), which includes overseeing the Xbox® and Games for Windows® businesses. Peter Moore, who currently serves as corporate vice president of IEB, has decided to move his family back to the Bay Area for personal reasons and has secured another opportunity in the video games industry.
Mattrick will take over as the senior vice president of IEB at Microsoft, effective July 30. Mattrick was the founder of Distinctive Software Inc., which operated as a private company from 1982 until its merger with EA in 1991. Mattrick held various senior positions within EA, most recently as president of Worldwide Studios, until his resignation in February 2006. In February 2007, Mattrick began working with the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft as an external advisor.
"Peter has contributed enormously to the games business since joining Microsoft in 2003 and we are sad to see him go," said Robbie Bach, president of Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. "Since that time, he presided over the global launch of the Xbox 360™, spearheaded a revitalized and rebranded Games for Windows business, and helped steer the console's ascent."
Moore has decided to return with his family to Northern California, where they lived until he took the position at Microsoft. Moore will remain at Microsoft to assist in the transition through August and will then return to the San Francisco Bay area.
"While Peter will certainly be missed, we are delighted to have one of the industry's most talented and passionate veterans on board to lead the business," Bach said. "Don is well-known and respected throughout the industry for his deep knowledge, technical expertise and management savvy. Under Don's leadership, the games team is looking forward to embarking on our biggest holiday ever, with a wide-ranging roster of some of the most highly anticipated titles."
Mattrick brings 23 years of games industry and development experience to the strong Microsoft management team, having helped bring to life such celebrated game franchises as the "Need for Speed," "Harry Potter" and "The Sims" while at EA.
"Over the past two decades, and the past few months in particular, I've worked closely with many of Microsoft's top leaders and I've always been impressed by their talent, passion and commitment," said Mattrick. "I'm thrilled to join an already strong team that's delivering truly amazing gaming experiences to customers around the world. I've never been more excited about the future of the industry, and firmly believe Microsoft will lead the next great innovations in gaming."
Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq "MSFT") is the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.

You know the gloves are off when an Xbox exec slags off your console's performance in Japan, and that's exactly what Peter Moore's been mouthing off about in an interview with Game Daily.
When asked about the importance of Japan in the latest console wars, Moore went on the defence firing: "That's probably a better question for Sony who's getting outsold by what, 6-to-1? You can bet that Sony built a long-term business plan about being successful in Japan and that business plan is crumbling."
Eyes probably started rolling at this point when Mr. Moore remembered that Xbox 360s aren't exactly rolling down Shibuya streets (unless they're being taken off by the bin men).
"I built a business plan [for Japan]," he added, "but I don't think my expectations in Japan were anything close to what Sony's expectations are. They are failing. They're missing their plan by much more than I'm missing my plan." The entertainment VP went on to question Sony's much-touted ten-year plan, saying that he's not exactly sure what it is. "It's like they just said, 'We have a ten-year plan' [and that's it]," he said.
As for the 360, Microsoft's premier scouser thankfully sees it outliving the original's four years. "I think the plan we have built, that calls for cost reductions in hardware, clearly gives us an advantage in price that actually allows us to get to [lower] price points much sooner than Sony will.
"They can have a 'ten-year plan' all they like, but it's executing that plan and getting to the mass market with price points [that matters], and I feel a lot closer to being able to do that than they do right now." It's still early days for the PS3 in Japan though, and Sony has the mammoth console-flogging power of Final Fantasy XIII on the horizon. What does MS have up its sleeve? Blue Dragon sold well, but certainly not enough to solve Xbox's Far Eastern problems.
At the moment only one thing is certain; Nintendo owns Japan.

EB Games Australia has issued a recall of their Xbox 360 premium consoles, with store managers ordered to return their entire inventories.
According to a Kotaku report, the problem surfaced two weeks ago when store managers were first asked to test their in-stock units for errors. Subsequently, they were asked to return their entire inventories.
The recall, which affects the premium and not the core Xbox 360 consoles, is assumed to be related to a faulty batch of HDDs rather than to the widely-reported "red rings" issue. New premium consoles will apparently be back in the market channels by Wednesday.
It is unknown if US or UK consoles will face similar recalls. An EB Games/GameStop representative was not immediately available for comment, and Microsoft has not responded to a request for confirmation.

Bomberman Live and Yie Ar Kung Fu will be this Wednesday, 18th July's Xbox Live Arcade releases, Microsoft said late on Friday while we were busy sneezing somewhere over the Atlantic, wondering how exactly we'd managed to catch a cold in Los sodding Angeles.
Oh well, at least we saw Rutger Hauer. And if Rutger asked us how much this week's XBLA releases costs, we'd be able to tell him that Bomberman is 800 points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30) and Yie Ar is 400 (GBP 3.40 / EUR 4.65).
Bomberman is Hudson's baby, of course (in fact, Hudson is to Bomberman as Joe is to Jessica Simpson), where players navigate a maze trying to trap and kill each other with bombs, taking advantage of various power-ups (16 in this version) on the way. The Xbox Live version offers four-player offline and eight-player online modes, with eight arenas total, and customisable Bomberman costumes.
Yie Ar Kung Fu, meanwhile, sees Oolong questing to win a Martial Arts Championship by defeating masters of shuriken, nunchaku, bo and chain. It's a graduate of old-days formats like the NES, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum, and dates back to 1985.
Each offers a demo version to help make your mind up, along with 12 unlockable Achievements for a total of 200 gamerpoints.

RedOctane's offering Guitar Hero II Xbox 360 owners another slice of the original game in the form of the fourth track pack on Xbox Live Marketplace.
As with the other three, it's 500 Microsoft points (GBP 4.25 / EUR 5.82) and consists of three songs - The Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated", Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" and Judas Priest's "You've Got Another Thing Coming". It's 44MB, in case you're wondering.
Past song packs have included the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Queen, The Donnas and Bad Religion, but have yet to offer anything besides tracks borrowed from the PS2-only Guitar Hero original.
Plus, we don't know about you, but we're slightly less excited by paying near enough a fiver for three songs in light of EA's promise of album-length downloadable content packs for Rock Band later in the year.

Electronic Arts' chart-topping Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix videogame is now up on Xbox Live in downloadable demo form, so if you're into that, accio like a mother-f-.
At 510MB it'll eat approximately 2.55 percent of a 20GB hard disk, which is the sort of useless fact we like to offer you here at Eurogamer, and you can read much more about it in our Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Xbox 360 review.
Don't expect it to go anywhere in the charts soon, either - with the game having achieved its back to back success in the UK Charts before the film it's based on had even gone on general release. Magic!

Newly released game at Play Asia
Overlord is a groundbreaking, completely original action adventure, set in a seriously warped fantasy world. Controlling a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord, the player emerges, near death, from the ruins of the old Overlord’s Dark Tower. Only the player’s actions will determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord; it’s all down to how much of a bad ass they want to be in order to succeed...evil or really evil! Played out with plenty of black humor and dark irony, the game will immerse players in twisted parodies of classic fantasy scenarios and characters.

Bill was a hired infomercial actor pretending to be on the brink. He used to lose at least half a dozen iPods to relentless and cunning thieves, continually able to outsmart him and relieve him of his portable music boxes. Then, like a shining light at the end of the tunnel, along came Hide-a-Pod*. "It was like a dream come true," Bill exclaimed: "I picked up a Hide-a-Pod, and I haven't lost an iPod since. If I leave it somewhere and go back later it's always right there were I left it." Harnessing the mathematical perfection of ugliness that only the Brown Zune possesses, Hide-a-Pod makes iPods physically invisible to lower standing members of society. You too can be like Bill, by ordering the Hide-a-Pod today!
