Peggle 2 has received a PEGI rating of 3 for Xbox 360, alongside a release date of February 12, 2014 – today. Peggle 2 hit Xbox One on December 9 in the US and Europe, and it's yet to be officially announced for other platforms, though it was previously rated for Xbox 360 and PS4 in South Korea.
Slow your roll on that PEGI release date, though. Some of PEGI's purported release dates represent the day those games launched in Europe (Grand Theft Auto 5), while others are incorrect (Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefiled 4 next-gen, Peggle 2 on Xbox One).
Still, another rating for Peggle 2 on Xbox 360 is a good sign for non-Xbox One puzzle fiends.

Ryse is historical fantasy on a huge scale, rendered at a level of detail and intricacy that’s close to photorealism.
By giving Xbox One its mandatory early visual powerhouse – despite all the doomsaying about the hardware’s horsepower – Ryse was arguably the console’s most important launch title. It disrupted the narrative, leaving many players clueless as to what the platform can really achieve. It’s certainly hard to imagine more on day one in terms of presentation and ensemble performance capture. As technical art director Christopher Evans and cinematic director Peter Gornstein explain, achieving such results involved risks, experimentation and lots of research. How long ago did you suspect that the new generation would start at sub-1080p?
Christopher Evans: When we set out our pillars of the game very early, we didn’t even think about what resolutions we were going to do. We really wanted to focus on the characters, the emotion. Those were things we’d never really conquered before. Resolution is more a gamble of numbers – a sliding thing for us. For the Crysis franchise, we’d built a really intelligent upscaler, and most people didn’t even know it wasn’t running at a specific resolution. We just felt that when you play the game and see the images that are generated, there’s going to be another discussion happening. Are those pillars different when dealing with a console launch title?
CE: The tech core pillars are always built off of the game’s core pillars. That meant we had to make a decision about the characters. For us, the next gen was going to be about having amazing characters in the game as well as in the cutscenes. That ‘play the cutscene’ idea really made us have to rethink. How are we going to do facial setup? How are we going to set up levels of detail? It was difficult enough that it ran the entire course of the project, and there were many times I was told that what we wanted to do for faces and characters was, tech-wise, one of the riskiest things on the project. One of the things that I found myself defending a lot was the idea that, yeah, we’re going to take tons of scan reference of the actors themselves and replicate their exact performance, but the characters are going to be sculpted by human beings [in] an artistic process. The world, the armour, the face: everything is consistent. It’s not slapping a bunch of photo textures everywhere. When we did our facial scanning, we actually drew lines on the faces so I could check the skin sliding and stuff, so we didn’t even have the actual scan data with diffuse textures for the project.

According to a press release earlier this month, the console version is "custom built specifically for the Xbox 360".
World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition is developed by Wargaming West, the team formerly known as Day 1 Studios, and published by Microsoft. It will be released as a digital downloadable and is free-to-play for those with an Xbox Live Gold subscription.
Silver Xbox Live account holders will be given access to a seven-day timed trial of World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition when they download it.
World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition will also feature in-game purchases such as premium tanks, consumables and premium accounts to boost experience and currency accrual rates.
World of Tanks features 15-on-15 player armoured warfare. In 2012, the game's developer Wargaming said its revenue stood at 218 million euros for 2013 - an indication of the intense popularity of the franchise.
Last year, Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi said World of Tanks is likely to make its way to Xbox One once the console has a viable user base for a free-to-play business model.
"I see no reason why we won't eventually do next-gen," he said at the time.

Kinect Sports Rivals - the game that should show what Xbox One Kinect can really do - will finally be released in April. That's 11th April in Europe, and 8th April in the US, Australia and New Zealand.Climbing, wake racing and target shooting are the new sports; soccer/football, tennis and bowling are the old - but revamped - sports.Kinect Sports Rivals was once talked of as a launch title for Xbox One, but was delayed by Microsoft in the name of high quality. A demo, featuring only wake racing, was put out on 22nd November to coincide with the console's launch.

Titanfall has become something bigger than a multiplayer mech game. It's thereason many people decided to invest in an Xbox One, and the reason why many others decided to postpone their next-gen console purchase altogether -- the finished title won't arrive until March 11th, and it's coming to the PC and 360 (slightly delayed until March 25th) too. In the meantime though, the developer behind Titanfall, Respawn Entertainment, is providing early access via a beta and you can sign up for access starting tonight at 9PM ET. The good news is that you don't need to pre-order the game to get in, but the bad news is that it's not open to all, so we don't know how many slots there are to go around. Go ahead and try your luck at the sign-up page -- we'll let you know the URL once it's posted "shortly before" 9PM ET, according to Respawn founder Vince Zampella.

February 12th, 2014, 01:01 Posted By: wraggster
Xbox One’s eSRAM is the cause of Xbox One’s struggle to output games at 1080p.
That’s according to Rebellion Games’ Jean-Baptiste Bolcato, who told GamingBolt that his team faced a real struggle getting in-development Sniper Elite 3 to hit full HD on the machine.
“It was clearly a bit more complicated to extract the maximum power from the Xbox One when you’re trying to do that. I think eSRAM is easy to use,” he said.
“Part of the problem is that it’s just a little bit too small to output 1080p within that size. It’s such a small size within there that we can’t do everything in 1080p with that little buffer of super-fast RAM. It means you have to do it in chunks or using tricks, tiling it and so on.
“It’s a bit like the reverse of the PS3. PS3 was harder to program for than the Xbox 360. Now it seems like everything has reversed but it doesn’t mean it’s far less powerful – it’s just a pain in the ass to start with. We are on fine ground now but the first few months were hell.”
Fortunately, Bolcato believes that the issue is one that can be addressed with improvements to the developer SDK.
“They are releasing a new SDK that’s much faster and we will be comfortably running at 1080p on Xbox One,” he assured. “We were worried six months ago and we are not anymore, it’s got better and they are quite comparable machines.
“The Xbox One is a bit more multimedia, a bit more hub-centric so its a bit more complex. There’s stuff you can and can’t do because it’s a sort of multimedia hub. PS4 doesn’t have that. PS4 is just a games machine.”

Remember that game about the spinning limo? It's called Roundabout and it's been confirmed for Xbox One today. Roundabout will be self-published by developer No Goblin through the ID@Xbox program.
Roundabout, also coming to PC, Mac and Linux, is a game in which players attempt to guide a spinning limousine past urban obstacles and through narrow streets. Roundabout is the product of Dan Teasdale's No Goblin, an indie outfit he started after stints at Harmonix and Twisted Pixel.
If you'd like to sample Roundabout ahead of its launch later this year, No Goblin will have a playable build on showcase at PAX East. This year's PAX East show takes place April 11 - 13 in downtown Boston, and will be held once again at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Unless you've already purchased your ticket, however, the odds of getting into PAX East are pretty much nonexistent.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is lurking in the shadows of the Xbox Games Store, a month after it was caught sneaking around Steam. The Armature Studio-developed 2.5D platformer came to 3DS and Vita alongside the mainOrigins game, and now it's listed to hit Xbox 360 in an HD "Deluxe Edition," with the release date noted as March 25.
Let's work what this means by channeling the spirit of Adam West. Hmm,... Steam. Take the "s" out of Steam and you get "Team." Teams... soccer teams... soccer teams get the ball into the penalty box to score a goal. Box! And as we all know, X marks the spot. X... Box. Xbox!
The clues all point to a multiplatform arrival in the near future, although we're still waiting on official word from Warner Bros. on any of this. Quick, to the Announcement-mobile!

Far Cry Classic, the HD re-release of Crytek's 10-years-old shooter, is already beached on the shores of the Xbox Games Store, priced $10/£8/10 euros. The revamp, which features redone cut scenes and a new user interface, is also due on PlayStation Network later today in North America, and Europe tomorrow.
Alternatively, Europeans can hunt it down as part of the Far Cry: The Wild Expedition bundle, which also includes Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and the standalone 80s-inspired romp Blood Dragon. The PS3, Xbox 360, and PC compilation is out in Europe this week, priced 40 euros, except in the UK where it's been delayed a week. It'll now reach the not-so-tropical island on February 21, priced £30 on PS3 and Xbox 360, and £25 on PC.
Just to confuse matters a little bit further, the Wild Expedition bundle isn't coming to North America. In its stead is the Far Cry Compilation, a PS3-only collection that's the same as The Wild Expedition, except it doesn't include Far Cry Classic. Make of that what you will, but in any case you can pick up the Compilation starting today for $40.

The Xbox One's multiplayer and social features are to be adjusted in a pre-Titanfall upgrade scheduled for "early March," Microsoft says. This latest overhaul, which will target the friends list and multiplayer party systems, will be the second consecutive update issued by Microsoft in as many months.
Microsoft plans to change the "Activity" application on Xbox One to a "Social" tile that opens straight to a friends list – showing you who's online at a glance, just like in the good ol' Xbox 360 days. Party chat audio will be activated and separated from game chat by default, Microsoft promises, and forthcoming multiplayer games will have a standardized option to quickly invite friends into the match. While welcome, the return of this reliable Xbox 360 feature shows the odd online isolation one can feel in the robust but splintered operating system of the Xbox One.
Xbox's Chief Product Officer, Marc Whitten, also claims the March update will bring further improvements that have yet to be highlighted. "The improvements to multiplayer and parties are just a few of the features that will be included," he says, "and we'll continue to share more details in the days and weeks ahead, including in-depth videos so you're all ready to take advantage of the new features in March."
If you're just joining us - and your Xbox One is telling you it's time to update – you've gotten the February update, which promises to eradicate the dual mysteries of controller battery life and remaining hard drive space.
Update: The February update will not go live today, but it's due to launch this week, Major Nelson tweeted. "The team is working on finalizing. More details when I get them," he says.

Microsoft is releasing the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter worldwide in early March, bringing support to third-party headsets including compatible Xbox 360 ones. The $25 adapter plugs into the controller, and connects to headsets to enable chat audio. Game audio is added in by connecting the headset to the Xbox One with an optical cable, or to the TV via RCA cables. The adapter itself features volume controls to adjust chat levels and the option to mute the headset's microphone.
Arriving alongside the adapter is Microsoft's own $80 Stereo Headset, which promises "a premium audio experience for both game and chat audio." It offers full range audio, a unidirectional microphone, and over-the-ear speakers, and ships with the adapter included.
There's no news in today's announcement on Dolby Digital support, which isn't universally available for Xbox One headsets. Last we heard, support was coming via a future update.

Microsoft is hiring software engineers to work on a new, interactive reading app from the Xbox-branded the Music, Video and Reading team, according to ajob listing and confirmed by The Verge. The project is described as "a groundbreaking interactive reading app on Windows, which incorporates books, magazines, and comics." The MVR team has already shipped two Xbox-branded apps for Windows 8.
Microsoft's current Reader app for Windows 8 opens PDF, XPS and TIFF files, and allows users to search texts, take notes, fill out forms, print and share. In Microsoft's Kickstarter Week video released in November, one team shows off a magazine interface that may hint at the Xbox reader app's direction, as spotted by eConnected.

The second DLC pack for the beleaguered Battlefield 4 may be released on February 18, assuming you trust a screenshot captured in a German-language version of EA's digital distribution service, Origin.
Here's the admittedly tenuous situation: A Reddit user under the handle "OurRobOrRos" recently posted the image you see above. He or she claims that it was part of a screencap taken from the German version of Origin a short time ago. As you can see, the image indicates a February 18 release date for the PC version of Second Assault, a DLC pack that will bring four fan-favoriteBattlefield 3 maps to Battlefield 4.
If this release date is accurate, it becomes simple to extrapolate the Second Assault release schedule based on EA's previously-announced DLC plans.Second Assault is slated to reach Battlefield 4 Premium members across all platforms first, about two weeks prior to the general public receiving the downloadable addition. Thus, Second Assault would reach Battlefield 4Premium users on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360 on February 18, then become available to the remainder of players in early March. Xbox One users received Second Assault as a timed-exclusive with the launch of their iteration of EA's shooter.
We contacted EA for a comment on this discovery, but were told that the company is currently unwilling to assign a release date to Second Assault.

The next entry in Activision's Call of Duty series is scheduled to launch for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 before it hits any other console, Activision Publishing's CEO Eric Hirshberg confirmed with IGN.
Sledgehammer Games was recently named as the developer behind this year's Call of Duty project. Activision announced during an earnings call last week that the franchise has switched to a three-year development cycle, with developers Sledgehammer, Infinity Ward, and Treyarch trading off on an annualized release schedule.
"Sledgehammer is approaching this as a next-gen-first development," Hirshberg told IGN. "Obviously in the console-transition year, anyone who developed a cross-generational game last year had to deal with the fact that the technology of the next-gen platforms was still coming into focus and changing quite a bit during the development process.... Now that we have the next-gen hardware out in the marketplace and solid, that is our primary development."
Sledgehammer Games previously assisted Infinity Ward in the creation of 2011's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, contributing to the project in a co-development role. This year's Call of Duty game is the first series entry that Sledgehammer will tackle as a primary developer.

February 10th, 2014, 21:19 Posted By: wraggster
A recently released update for the Xbox One Call Of Duty: Ghosts has reportedly introduced performance issues that weren't previously in the game.
The update was designed to prepare the game for the Onslaught DLC, as well as adding bug fixes, new features and balance tweaks to the game's multiplayer modes.
However, early reports on NeoGAF from players who had downloaded the update suggested the game was performing poorer than before the update.
In particular, the Stonehaven stage was singled out as a major offender, with explosions and other effects affecting the game's frame rate.
Eurogamer's Digital Foundry has since run a detailed test of the game post-update, and its findings suggest the update has indeed had a negative impact on its performance.
"While the game does indeed hit 60fps in [the Stonehaven] stage, frame-rates are dramatically impacted when the whole level is in view, with metrics varying between 46-60fps as we run across the landscape," the site claims.
"As frame-rates fall below the desired 60fps target, we also see the appearance of some screen-tear, adding some judder, making drops in smoothness more noticeable."
"Meanwhile, aiming down the barrel of a sniper scope can see significant drops down as far as the mid-30s - something we never encountered before in ether next-gen version of Ghosts during multiplayer.
"As a result of the fluctuating frame-rate we can feel a clear reduction in the responsiveness of the controls, while on a visual level the introduction of stutter impacts the smooth flow traditionally associated with Call of Duty multiplayer action."
It's stressed that performance drops are far less severe on other stages, and that the PS4 version remains the same as it was at launch: "not as smooth as Xbox One, but with a much higher rendering resolution."

The senior producer of Sniper Elite 3 has discussed the difficulties the team had in reaching a smooth 1080p output on Xbox One, but assures

Watch Dogs will release sometime between April and June, during the first quarter of Ubisoft's 2014-2015 fiscal year.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced the date in a financial release Monday. He said in a conference call with investors that the firm will give a more specific release date for the game "very soon."
Watch Dogs was previously confirmed for release in Spring 2014, after being delayed out of the launch window for Xbox One and PS4.
"Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming," the company explained at the time. "From the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality.
"As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune every detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience."
Rumors circulated in January that the game's Wii U version had been canceled after an alleged "glitch" in GameStop's systems, though Ubisoft has declined comment on its status since then.

Batman: Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Montreal has indicated it will not release another patch for the game - a decision that has upset many players who have complained about game-breaking bugs since last year.Instead, the developer is focusing on upcoming story downloadable content."The team is currently working hard on the upcoming story DLC and there currently are no plans for releasing another patch to address the issues that have been reported on the forums," read a message posted to the game's forum by Arkham community manager "Mercury"."If we do move forward with creating a new patch, it will try to address the progression blocking bugs for players, not the minor glitches that do not prevent one from continuing to play. The issues that are not progression blockers will unfortunately no longer be addressed."However, some bugs relating to the PC version will be fixed, specifically an issue with Deathstroke's Quick Fire Neural Pellets and Quick Fire Proximity Bomb not working with PC mouse and keyboard. The timing of this fix is not determined."We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused for some of you, and want to thank you for having been patient," Warner Bros. Montreal said.Players, who have complained about glitches since the game released last year, reacted in anger to the news on the forum."I can't even finish the freaking game and you think it has no problems worth patching?" wrote SammehPwnz."Just boycott the DLC purchases for all current and future releases until the game gets PROPERLY FIXED," suggested DOOMGAZEDRGN.
