Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download Shoot Many Robots for free until December 31.
The four-player co-op scrolling shooter is the second of December's 'Games with Gold' titles, following on from the original Gears of War.
Released on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN in March 2012, Shoot Many Robots is usually priced at £6.75 / $4.99 on the Xbox Games Store. It has a Metascore of 67 based on 37 reviews.
Announced at E3 in June, Games with Gold gives XBLG subscribers two free games to keep each month, with a new title made available on the 1st and 16th of each month.
While it was originally announced as a limited time campaign, Microsoft said in October that Games with Gold would be an "ongoing benefit" with no end date planned.
In November, the platform holder also revealed plans to launch Games with Gold on Xbox One in 2014.

After announcing not only that Xbox One would support indie games, but that Microsoft had 32 studios lined up and working on them already, ID@Xbox’s director Chris Charla has told us that Xbox One owners can expect the first indie titles in the ID@Xbox scheme to arrive around the end of Q1 2014.“I think it will be early in the New Year, in the first three months,” said Charla. “I would say closer to the third month. In terms of how many games there will be, it’s hard to say, because they’re still in development.”According to Charla, many of the games currently being worked on for ID@Xbox have been in development for “months”.“Some developers started developing for Xbox One, others already had games in development and are working on Xbox One versions. I would say they’re at all stages of development, honestly.”The ID@Xbox website lays out the conditions for what developers can and can’t build for the Xbox Games Store, stating that while Microsoft “don’t want to be censors”, they’re not interested in promoting content that is “vulgar, offensive or objectionable”. According to Charla, the best way to get a clear idea of what constitutes acceptable content is to look at games currently available for the Xbox 360.Furthermore, content standards for new indie games will be the same as those for regular third and first-party games – if you can’t do show it in a one-man indie bedroom project, you can’t have it in your triple-A, big-budget hack-and-slash, either. The next stage of the ID@Xbox programme is to roll out development tools to everybody with an Xbox One. According to Charla, the end goal for ID@Xbox is to have every player in the world capable of making their own game, whatever their ability: “That’s [players] at all levels,” he says, “from coding a game in C++, to someone who can’t code at all using something like Project Spark.”When it came to discussing ID@Xbox’s controversial parity clause (which states that while Microsoft doesn’t require exclusivity for indie games, it does require them to launch on Xbox One at the same time as other platforms), Charla was less forthcoming – although there was a hint that the policy might work on more of a case-by-case basis than the blanket ‘no’ that it’s been reported as thus far.“Unfortunately we really don’t comment on our publishing policies,” he said. “Obviously we’ve heard the feedback from developers and we’re looking at all the way the ways we can to lower barriers for developers, but I really can’t comment on publishing policies. The reality is that developers should get in touch with us and talk. “

Following reports that prices for digital copies of Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5 and the standard version of Dead Rising 3 had increased by £5, a Microsoft UK representative explained the change to GameSpot this week.
"Digital content pricing is subject to change and we may occasionally offer various deals or promotions," the spokesperson said. "Yes, pricing for select digital content in some markets has changed since launch."
With the changes in price, all of Microsoft's first-party, retail-sized games that are now available for download on the Xbox One are currently £49.99.

If the answer's not "about £6,000 ($9,750)" just keep on moving, pal. A Reddit user spotted the 24-karat, gold-plated console at London mega department store Harrods, which specializes in luxury items like furniture, fashion, kitchenwares and ... Xbox One, apparently. And really, the console looks pretty good in - but if you want it to keep its value, this might be one of those "display but don't actually play with the toy" situations.
So there you have it, last-minute holiday shoppers: if you're looking to snag an Xbox One and aren't having any luck at your local stores or online, you can always head over to Harrods. They've got one.

If you were thinking about taking Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3's DLC for a ride, you might want to decide already - a Capcom Unity post announced a DLC sale and encouraged fans to snatch up content for the crossover fighter, which will be "leaving the PSN and XBLA stores." The post calls for players to pick upUMVC3 and Marvel vs Capcom 2 "before they go away," but the next sentence calls out MVC3 as the game which will depart with its younger, Ultimate brother. With the standard version of MVC3 unavailable on either store however, we're pretty sure that's a typo and that the announcement is related to MVC2.
While the entry asks readers to "stay tuned" for sales info concerning XBLA, PSN users can perform a 50 percent off combo on the DLC of their choosing forUMVC3 content. December 17 will be the final day the DLC is available in the US, with the European PSN offering the sale until December 19. While sales for XBLA have yet to be specified, the post does list December 26 as a global final call for DLC for Xbox owners.
The games themselves have remained at full price on Xbox Live - UMVC3 is $29.99, while MVC2 is $14.99. PSN users can currently purchase MVC2 at $7.49, or for $3.75 with PlayStation Plus.

December 15th, 2013, 01:40 Posted By: wraggster
EA DICE has released a new patch for the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 that fixes several crashes and other bugs affecting the game's multiplayer component.
The Xbox One update addresses a persistent "one-hit kill" bug, bringing the port up to speed with the recently patched PC and PS4 versions. The update additionally "reduces the probability" of single-player save file corruption, which emerged as a widespread complaint among players after the game's launch last month.
Battlefield 4 shipped with several major issues on next-gen platforms, rendering some multiplayer modes unplayable prior to recent updates. The game's problems are severe enough to warrant the attention of law firm Holzer Holzer & Fistel, which recently launched an investigation to determine if Electronic Arts misled investors regarding the game's estimated revenue and market impact.

If you're not dead set on Dead Rising 3, don't dead fret: There's a new demo on the Xbox Games Store with your name on it. Hop to the New Game Demos section to check it out. Also, publisher Microsoft revealed details on the game's first piece of story DLC, "Operation Eagle." A Microsoft spokesperson told Joystiq the DLC will be available on December 24.
First, the demo: It restricts you to a 20-minute sojourn at Los Perdidos, but if you want another go by the end of it, you can. Each Gamertag can take the demo for a spin two times, but no more than that.
As for Operation Eagle, as the name suggests there's a Federal air to the storyline: The President of the United States is missing, and your mission as Spec Ops Commander Adam Kane is to find her - or, as Microsoft's press release puts it, "capture" her. Sounds a bit like an undead version of 24 - or as it's otherwise known, Live Another Day.
The Operation Eagle mission features five new weapons, a new combo weapon, a new vehicle, and of course some new rags to wear. It's the first of four major pieces of DLC announced for Dead Rising 3, all available via the $30 season pass. If you just want in for Operation Eagle, its standalone tag is $10.

No stranger to huge sales numbers, the people behind the Xbox 360 iteration of Minecraft have reacted to word that the game has sold more than ten million units in the best way possible: massive discounts for the game's dedicated fans.
Come Saturday, December 14, nearly every skin and texture pack DLC addition for Minecraft Xbox 360 will be reduced in price by 50 percent. We say "nearly" because while all of the standard packs will be discounted, those special mash-up packs merging Minecraft with content from another game - Skyrim, for instance - will not see a drop in price.
No reason is offered for this exclusion, though it's less likely a shadowy games industry conspiracy than simple common licensing issues preventing these packs from appearing in the discounted slate.

A worldwide open beta has been initiated for World of Tanks on Xbox 360. Anyone with an Xbox Live account can jump into the beta right now on through this weekend, up until the virtual tanks are directed back to the garage on December 15.
If you don't have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, participating in the beta will net you a seven-day trial period. Those who have already claimed their free seven-day trial can re-up for another seven days as part of this weekend's beta test.
Wargaming.net's World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition was announced back in Juneat E3. The free-to-play online multiplayer combat game pits players against each other in mid-20th century tanks. World of Tanks will not feature cross-platform play between Xbox 360 and PC, and players will have to register separate accounts in order to play on their platform of choice.

Microsoft's Nancy Tellem, president of entertainment and digital media - and no relation to Soulja Boy Tell'em, in case you were wondering - hopes to launch the first Xbox original programming early next year, according to Variety. "We're hoping we will be able to put something up in the first quarter, at minimum second quarter," she said at the Variety Dealmakers Breakfast.
The process has been slow; Unfortunately, the Nancy Tellem vision for the future of content consumption has been met with hesitation and confusion from Hollywood. "We aren't Netflix, we aren't Amazon," Tellem said. "We're a different animal."
Xbox original programming was a large part of the Xbox One reveal event back in May, and included teases of a series based in the Halo universe, produced by Steven Spielberg. Whether that series will be one of the first to come to Xbox next year, Tellem didn't tell.

Ghosts’ storyline revolves around a doomsday weapon that America puts in space and subsequently loses control of.
There’s a uncomfortable irony in the Call of Duty series’ twin fascinations with the destruction of the United States and brainwashing. As wave after wave of faceless, under-equipped, foreign aggressors charge obligingly into range of your American-made machine gun, Predator drone or circling gunship, the action in both Black Ops and Ghosts is broken up with regular story hits that paint the brainwashing of Black Ops’ Mason and Ghosts’ Rorke as the ultimate horror – good, rational people reprogrammed to fight and kill for someone else’s ideology. Then the loading screen resolves and it’s straight back into your foxhole, ready to mow down another wave of America-hating foreigners. Ooh-rah.Call of Duty first invaded the continental US in Modern Warfare 2. A US plot to partake in a civilian airport massacre goes awry (would you believe) and sparks a retaliatory invasion by a vengeful Russian military. The end goal of this invasion isn’t ever discussed. There’s no time: one minute America is innocently minding its own business, and the next, there are Russian fighter jets over I-95 and a tank column rolling over Times Square. Who cares what they want – the White House is on fire! This is about as grounded as CoD’s repeated invasions of America get. Modern Warfare 2′s Russians have got a pretty solid grievance, what with a CIA plant strolling through a Moscow airport with a machine gun, spoiling everyone’s holiday plans. And Modern Warfare 3 makes a commendable effort to show that the invading forces aren’t representative of the Russian people as a whole – even going so far as to cast you fleetingly as a good-guy Russian secret service agent in the entourage of a Russian President on his way to Europe to negotiate a ceasefire. Then something shifted with Black Ops 2. The series abandoned its multinational perspectives and presented instead a googly-eyed piece of US-centric paranoia about a special forces team scouring the world for a terrorist leader named Raul Menendez, who attacks the US with its own fleet of military drones as part of some dastardly quest for personal revenge. Los Angeles explodes, the President is attacked in her motorcade, and only through big guns, quadcopters and American pluck can all be put right again.

Dead Rising 3's first DLC, Operation Broken Eagle, will star a Spec Ops Commander named Adam Kane, i.e. this guy:
As detailed by Capcom Vancouver's executive producer Josh Bridge on Major Nelson's blog, Kane will have access to military weapons, armoured vehicles, and a crew of soldiers at his stead. Each of Dead Rising 3's four DLC episodes will star a different character and occur in parallel with Nick's story in the main game. Bridge noted that each episode will have its own new weapons, a custom vehicle, side missions, and achievements. The three other episodes will be entitled: Fallen Angel, Chaos Rising, and The Last Angel. In other Dead Rising 3 news, a demo is out now for the game on Xbox Live. Bridge noted that the demo has a "Super Weapon" called the "Ultimate Grim Reaper," and hinted that players should dig around Ingleton to explore the breadth of the demo's weapon-building possibilities.

The 1080P HDification of Lionhead's original Fable, known as Fable Anniversaryin its evolved state, will arrive on February 4,6 and 7 in North America, Asia and Europe, respectively. The game is planned for Xbox 360.
As enticement to revisit Albion and the previous console generation, the game will include a "Launch Day Weapons & Outfits Pack." The highlight in there is "a lute weapon," because next to a keyblade, nothing else could sound more ridiculously glorious.

Hoping that one of your loved ones has an Xbox One on his or her list, Best Buy has launched a new range of holiday bundles for Microsoft's console, including games, controllers and discounted Xbox Live Gold memberships.
Pay a visit to Best Buy's website and you'll find five console bundles ranging in price from $530 to $650. The least expensive bundle includes an Xbox One console plus a year of Xbox Live membership, which cuts the price of the membership in half, from its standard $60 price point to $30.
If you don't care for Xbox Live but thrive on local multiplayer, you may instead prefer the $560 bundle which includes the Xbox One console and an extra controller. Also priced at $560 is a bundle including the Xbox One console and a copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts. Keep in mind, neither of these last two bundles offer any discount over purchasing the included items individually.
For $590 you can pick up a bundle including the console, the $30 Xbox Live Gold membership and an extra controller. Big spenders willing to drop $650 will receive all of the items listed above: the Xbox One console, the $30 Xbox Live Gold membership, an extra controller and Call of Duty: Ghosts.
The best news here for last minute shoppers isn't the pricing, but when these bundles will be available. While you're unable to order these bundles on the site then pick them up in a Best Buy store, the retailer claims that these bundles will be "available for delivery by December 24" - just in time to celebrate the most holy of consumer holidays.

The update planned to end crashing and save file loss in the Xbox One iteration of Battlefield 4 continues to be delayed, but developer DICE has revealed a near-term window in which it hopes the patch will debut.
Like the PlayStation 4 game, the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 was scheduled for an update to fix its ongoing crashing and online instability issues. That patch should have appeared during the week of December 2, but for reasons not made public never did. Instead, DICE has decided to roll the changes of that patch into the game's next update, which should appear at the end of this week or the beginning of next.
"The update that was originally meant to go live the week of Dec 2 was delayed, but we decided to bring those fixes to the next upcoming Xbox One update," stated DICE representative "trydling" in the studio's latest Battlelog update.
"This new combined Xbox One patch is currently in testing and certification, and we will release it as soon as possible. We are hoping to get it live late this week or early next week. We will keep you updated."
It's unknown exactly what this patch will fix, though we're told that full details will be made available shortly before the update appears. For the moment, DICE will only say that it "will focus on stability and some of the feedback we've seen from the community, including a fix for the one-hit kill bug and Commander EMP blur effect."

In all of Microsoft’s grand wisdom they found it necessary to make the new Xbox One headset adapter without a standard 2.5 mm headset jack. People have invested great amounts of money in quality headsets for previous game platforms that now cannot jack into the Xbox One controllers. This may seem like a déj* vu hack from a week ago but it is different and adds more solutions for the annoying Xbox One headset compatibility problem.
[Jon Senkiw] A.K.A [Xandrel] wasn’t having any of this Microsoft nonsense so he cracked open the headset adapter case that plugs into the Xbox One controller. He photographed the PCB and wiring and realized he could fit a 2.5 mm headset jack from an old donor cellphone into the case. A dap of hot glue, some AWG 30 jumper wires and a bit of plastic trimming was all it took to get a jack inside the headset adapter just the way Microsoft should have done from the factory.
Previously when [octanechicken] added a 2.5 mm female phone adapter at the end of the cable he did not connect the black wire to anything being it was the 2nd side of a push-pull speaker. However, from looking at [Jon’s] photos he connected the speaker output wire to a solder pad on the PCB where the black wire originally connected, marked HPL, and he had nothing connected to the HPR pad. This seemed to work for [Jon] just fine, but is the opposite of what [octanechicken] did last week when he connected the blue wire to the speaker output which would have traced back to the HPR pad on the PCB.
This hack makes these controllers backwards compatible without too much issue being reported. If you have issues please report here or on [Jon’s] SE7ENSINS thread. He has also made comments on the thread that he is willing to help mod headsets, so if you’re not able to hack this yourself [Jon] might be willing to help.
