The Wolf Among Us episode two, Smoke and Mirrors, will be coming to PC, Mac and North American PS3s on February 4, with an Xbox 360 and European PS3 launch to follow the day after. Developer Telltale tweeted the news yesterday, and was met with ... a question about when the next episode of The Walking Dead: Season Two would be out. Someone throw poor, neglected Bigby a bone here!
We already knew the second episode in Telltale's take on the Fables universe would be coming in the first week of February, but we didn't have exact dates. Thanks to Telltale's tweet, now we do. Looks like we won't need to consult with the Magic Mirror after all.

Razer, a company best known for its high-end PC peripherals, has announced plans for a line of Xbox One accessories, furthering a partnership with Microsoft that spawned the above-pictured controller as well as other devices for the Xbox 360.
"Razer is dedicated to improving the overall experience from the games themselves to the player, be it console or PC," stated Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan. "By working with a company as prestigious as Microsoft on a system as sought-after as the Xbox One, we'll be able to accomplish just that. This is an exciting time for the hundreds of millions of gamers all over the world, and we're thrilled to be a part of it."
Though this announcement lacks any solid details on the upcoming Xbox One products from Razer, the company does mention plans for a controller, an arcade stick and "more." According to Razer, further information will appear "in the coming weeks."

Rumours of a possible release for a disc-less Xbox One are unlikely to be true, a US analyst has claimed.
Claims that such a device is in active testing at Microsoft appeared online yesterday. However, Michael Pachter has said he finds it hard to believe such a machine actually exists.
“I don’t actually believe the rumour,” he said. “If this rumour is true, it is one of the dumbest ideas of all time. It would alienate GameStop and other retailers, and it would demonstrate that Microsoft can afford to release a 1TB Xbox One at $399 with essentially the same production cost as the $499 model with a 500GB HDD and a Blu-ray drive.
“That would likely cause gamers to believe that the model with a Blu-ray drive is overpriced, or would cause them to believe that Microsoft is greedy.
“I have three words for this idea – dumb, dumb, dumb.”
MCV revealed in March 2012 that Microsoft was considering ditching optical media for its next console, but a year later reports emerged claiming that the idea had been abandoned.
Last month Microsoft admitted that it had at one stage pondered the possibility, although it added that it had dropped the plans following negative consumer feedback.

Microsoft will release the Xbox 360 version of Halo: Spartan Assault on Friday, January 31.
The game will be released via Xbox Live for $14.99, but those who purchased the game for either Windows 8 or Windows Phone prior to December 15, 2013 can see if they're eligible for the discount price of $4.99 via the official site.
Developed by 343 Industries in conjunction with Vanguard Games, Spartan Assault originally launched on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 in July last year, priced at £4.99 / $6.99.
The game was later released for Xbox One on December 23 via Xbox Live for $14.99.
Set within a narrative that bridges the gap between Halo 3 and Halo 4, Spartan Assault explores the origins of the Spartan Ops program through the eyes of either Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis, while providing a deeper look at the back story of the Human-Covenant War.
As with on Xbox One, the Xbox 360 version comes with Achievements, a new co-operative game mode, new weapons and the inclusion of the 'Operation Hydra' add-on.

Microsoft is reportedly considering legal action against 'Ntkrnl', the forum poster who leaked information about new Xbox One models and upcoming game releases including Halo 2: Anniversary edition.
Speaking under a condition of anonymity, a "person familiar with the situation" has told Kotaku Microsoft is currently trying to track down ntkrnl and "Microsoft executives are looking to take legal action".
Posting on games forum NeoGAF, Ntkml claimed Microsoft will release a cheaper Xbox One console in 2014, in addition to a Titanfall model of the console and a version with 1TB hard drive. He also suggested that one of the models may not include an optical disc drive, essentially making it an all-digital console.
The forum post also stated Microsoft plans to release Halo 2: Anniversary Edition, a remake of the Xbox original, as well as ports of Halo 3, Halo 4 and a Halo 5 beta this.
Some of information in ntkml's post has since been verified by multiple publishing sources including CVG, The Verge and VG247.
CVG's sources have indicated that 'Halo 2: Anniversary', is in development for Xbox One.
According to The Verge, a white Xbox One will be released.
VG247, meanwhile, has credited a "trusted publishing partners" as verifying a new cheaper Xbox One SKU will be available.

Dead Island and Toy Soldiers: Cold War are the two Xbox 360 games that will be given away free to Xbox Live Gold members in February.
Dead Island will be the first offered, going free from February 1-15, before Toy Soldiers: Cold War replaces it on February 16 until the end of the month.
Dead Island, launched in September 2011, is an open world zombie survival game,. We said in our 6.5/10 Dead Island review: "This budget zombie thriller ain't too pretty but could manage to capture a cult following."
Toy Soldiers: Cold War, the second Toy Soldiers game released via Xbox Live Arcade, takes on a 1980s theme with co-op gameplay and new mini games. It mixes first person combat with strategy elements.
Originally conceived as a limited-time promotion before being continued indefinitely, Games with Gold offers Xbox Live Gold subscribers two free games each month. Games downloaded via the promotion remain in that user's library permanently.
Microsoft has said that its Games with Gold initiative will make the jump to Xbox One at some point in 2014.

A new, cheaper Xbox One will launch here before the end of the year, apparently. And when it does, it's likely the £429.99 existing Xbox One model will drop in price to compete with the £349.99 PS4.There it is. Grows on you.
That's according to veteran reporter Matt Martin, a new hire at VG247, who heard from a "a well-respected source" that Microsoft had been briefing publishing partners about just this. The source did not confirm whether this new model would be the 1TB Xbox One that, yesterday, was rumoured to be arriving in November. Nor did the report say anything about this Xbox One not having a Blu-ray drive, nor being the white Xbox One that's rumoured to arrive in October. Those aren't the only Xbox One rumours doing the rounds. There's another about Halo 2: Anniversary Edition and Halo 5 beta arriving in November, and of Crackdown 3 being in development."We do not comment on rumour or speculation," commented Microsoft.

Microsoft's white employee-only Xbox One could become a little less exclusive. The snow-colored console is rumored to appear alongside the cartoony shooterSunset Overdrive this October, and a 1TB version of the hardware might release in November according to a NeoGAF thread that's been confirmed by The Verge's sources. What's more, Microsoft's latest console may also see worldwide release this year sans Blu-ray drive for $399. With the annual DICE Summit and Game Developers Conference not far off on the horizon, it might not be long before we see these rumors publicly confirmed. We've reached out to Redmond and will let you know if we hear back. Update: The source of the NeoGAF thread also says that a Limited Edition Titanfall console is on the way too, posting what he says is an image of the special console's design. Skip on past the break for a peek at the alleged hardware.

A disc-less white version of the Xbox One is currently in testing at Microsoft, it is being claimed.
The Verge has verified claims made on NeoGaf that the platform holder is testing a $399 digital-only version of the console, although “it's unclear if [it] will make it to market.
While the disc-less claim has been seconded, the leaker also made a host of other claims, the merit of which you can decide for yourself:
* Crackdown 3 due in 2016, with news unlikely to be released this year
* Halo Anniversary 2 will be 1080p but 60fps support is “iffy” and will include Halo 5 beta access
* Forza Horizon scheduled for this autumn with “super sexy weather system” and “1080p open-world”
* Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break also due this autumn
* White Xbox One and Titanfall Limited Edition hardware SKUs incoming
* Gears of War not expected to release until late 2016

Hoping to make an upgrade to the Xbox One that much more tempting, Microsoft has unveiled a new promotion that offers Microsoft Store visitors a $100 credit in exchange for their PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.
Before you rush out to hand over your gaming device, keep in mind that there are a few caveats to this deal. First, Microsoft isn't accepting just any old Xbox 360. If you plan to trade yours in, it will have to be either an Xbox 360 Elite or the more recent Xbox 360 Slim. Owners of the original Xbox 360 model are out of luck, though the Microsoft Store will accept any variation of PlayStation 3.
Additionally, the fine print attached to this promotion notes that you don't necessarily need to use this $100 store credit toward an Xbox One, but that if you aren't trading in your old console towards Microsoft's newest gaming device you may not receive the full $100. "To receive maximum trade in value, you must purchase an Xbox One at the same time," reads a notice on the Microsoft Store website. "Any appraised value will be determined at trade in and provided as store credit, subject to Microsoft's discretion and approval."
The final caveat is that this deal is only available in select Microsoft Store locations. To see if your local store is participating, visit the Microsoft Store site, then click the "Your Store" link at the top of the page. If available, you should see the $100 credit advertised front and center.

En Masse Entertainment and NCsoft West alumnus Patrick Wyatt has joined up with State of Decay developer Undead Labs to assist the team with upcoming projects.
Previously, Wyatt oversaw design and development of TERA's game publishing platform, helping to launch En Masse's MMORPG in 2012. Wyatt additionally developed core server and network platform technology for Guild Wars during his time with ArenaNet, a studio he co-founded before it was purchased by NCsoft West in 2002.
Wyatt's role within Undead Labs has not been disclosed, but he may assist in developing Class4, an MMO project that stalled last year during the studio's negotiations with Microsoft. Undead Labs later signed a multi-year contract with Microsoft Studios, suggesting the project may be back on track.

January 30th, 2014, 01:58 Posted By: wraggster
EA has revealed that the software attach ratio (the number of games bought per console sold) for Xbox One is down compared to Xbox 360.
PS4, however, is tracking ahead of PS3.
“I'm actually pretty bullish on what I'm seeing so far,” EA COO Peter Moore told investors last night, as reported bySeeking Alpha. “Certainly, Sony has done well with the PS4 – when you compare it to the first two months of their launch on the PS3, they're up to 2.1 versus 1.9. Microsoft is a little down, the 2.6 attach on Xbox One versus Xbox 360.
“This is US only, during that similar period for launch, but I think a lot of that has to do with the some of the bundling activity we saw on a global basis, but certainly here in the US. I think it's been a solid start for both and we're incredibly bullish it will continue in FY'15.”
Moore went on to predict a decent period of support for legacy consoles, too.
“[We’ve] been through these transitions many times, and you continued to re-forecast as you see trends,” he added. “Both Sony and Microsoft – and in particular Sony – have managed their PS2 to PS3 transition very well.
“Having ran that Xbox business, as you know, I think Microsoft is committed to the Xbox 360 for a number of years. So I would anticipate seeing both Sony and Microsoft get behind their current-gen platforms at least for the next 2 years and bring us to a 10-year cycle as we saw in the previous cycle.”

January 30th, 2014, 00:32 Posted By: wraggster
Microsoft's new Black Tusk studio is but a week into development on its debut Gears of War game for Xbox One, says Microsoft Studios head Phil Spencer.
The platform holder announced on Monday that it had acquired the rights to the Gears Of War franchise from series creator Epic Games, and put Black Tusk in charge of development. Very little development was done prior to that announcement, Spencer has revealed after being quizzed via Twitter.
"Leadership team has been involved for a month but studio has only been on Gears for a week," said Spencer on Wednesday.
This would suggest that the fruits of the new deal - the first Gears of War game for Microsoft's new console - is still a long way off, with most modern AAA titles typically taking at least two years to develop.
Microsoft has recruited Rod Fergusson, former director of production at Epic Games on the Gears of War franchise, to oversee the development of the franchise at its new home.
Black Tusk Studios formed in late 2012 as a rebranded version of Microsoft Vancouver. At the time it was formed, studio manager Mike Crump said Black Tusk was "working on Microsoft's next big entertainment franchise".
Black Tusk's GM, Hanno Lemke said the studio will collaborate closely with Epic "to ensure the inclusion of the Unreal Engine technology into the Gears of War franchise going forward remains consistent with the high quality fans have come to expect from the franchise."

January 30th, 2014, 00:31 Posted By: wraggster
Several of Battlefield 4's weapons will be adjusted for accuracy and power to improve game balance, developer DICE has revealed.
DICE outlined the changes planned to Battlefield 4's infantry arsenal in ablog post Wednesday.
DMR, pump-action shotgun, carbine, and pistol wielders will largely see positive changes, however fans of the MTAR carbine will find it less accurate at long range. Players can also expect slight improvements to aiming accuracy when transitioning from hip-firing to aiming down the sights, and to sniper rifle aiming animations.
The next major update to Battlefield 4 is planned to release across all platforms in February. However, EA did not specify whether these tweaks, and the changes to vehicles outlined on Tuesday, will be included in the patch.
The full list of planned infantry weapon tweaks is as follows, according to DICE:[h=4]DMRs[/h] - Increased the damage of all DMRs across all ranges. Specifically, damage has been increased at long ranges to allow three-hit kills against unarmored opponents. Additionally, reduced the penalty to accuracy for sustained DMR fire, allowing more rapid follow up shots in combat. The amount of the damage increase varies from weapon to weapon, according to its intended range, rate of fire, and damage. We will continue to monitor the effectiveness of DMRs in combat, and determine if additional action is needed to make DMRs a viable mid to long range weapon.
[h=4]Pump Action Shotguns[/h] - Increased the accuracy of pump action shotguns (870 MCS, HAWK 12g, SPAS-12, and UTS 15) while on the move and aiming. The accuracy has been approximately doubled. These weapons did not have any available barrels or grips that would allow a player to enhance their aimed accuracy. This change should make the use of pump action weapons with slugs much more viable at medium and close range by allowing more accurate fire.
[h=4]Carbines[/h] - Reduced the long range damage of the MTAR to bring it in line with the rest of the Carbines.
[h=4]Pistols[/h] - Increased the aimed accuracy of the M1911 to make it a viable choice once the COMPACT 45 has been unlocked. This gives the M1911 a clear accuracy advantage for range, while the COMPACT 45 has a clear ammunition per magazine advantage.
- Increased the close range damage of the M1911, QSZ-92, FN57, CZ-75 and COMPACT 45. This will allow all pistols to bypass Body Armor at close range. Additionally, the FN57 and the QSZ-92 have had their long range damage increased to allow them to properly bypass Body Armor at all distances. Finally, the CZ-75 has also had its long range damage raised to give it a diverse role among the handguns.
- Reduced the delay between pressing the trigger and the bullet firing for the M412 REX and .44 MAGNUM. This delay represents the way these weapons work in real life, while also improving their responsiveness in game.
- Increased the magazine capacity of the QSZ-92 to 20 rounds, the proper amount for this weapon in real life. Additionally reduced the recoil of the QSZ-92 to give it a clear difference from the FN57.
- Corrected a small error with the COMPACT 45 accuracy when crouched or prone. The weapon was accidently less accurate than intended.
[h=4]General[/h] - Adjusted the way inaccuracy is handled when transitioning from Hip fire to Aimed fire. Previously, if a player began firing before aiming, he would keep his hip inaccuracy while aimed, until he stopped firing. This was especially obvious with LMGs on the move. Players will now only be subject to the maximum aimed inaccuracy after the transition. While still terribly inaccurate, this allows for substantially more accurate fire than the old method and should allow players with LMGs to panic fire in close quarters, provided they are aiming.
- The Heavy Barrel's Accuracy bonus now also applies on the move, at a reduced bonus. This should give the Heavy Barrel a wider role for players who desire accuracy while aimed in all situations.
- Synchronized the timing of the aim down the sights animation of sniper rifles with their ability to fire with full accuracy. Players no longer need to wait for additional time after the aiming animation plays to get accurate shots. There is still a delay to achieve full accuracy, so Quick Scoping is still not possible.
