Call of Duty: Ghosts is the most-played online multiplayer game on Xbox One globally.
So reported Activision in an announcement on Tuesday, citing Microsoft as the source of its metrics. The firm also claimed the title is the "most played PS4 game" in North America, again citing platform holder Sony.
Activision recently said that Call of Duty: Ghosts was the best-selling PS4 game "in retail sales" according specifically to sales at retail chains Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart.
The new announcement on Tuesday made identical claims regarding the Xbox One version at those same specific retailers.
Once again, the firm held off releasing specific sales figures for the title.
"Around the globe, Call of Duty: Ghosts is leading the next generation. It's the #1 selling title at key retailers and it's also the most played game on Xbox One and PS4 globally," said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.
"As we've said before, we've got the best community of fans in the world, and we're thrilled they're coming with us to the next generation."
The company said earlier this month that retailers spent over $1 billion worldwide to secure Call of Duty: Ghosts stock for launch day. While Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said it was "too early to assess" sell-through to consumers, he suggested the game's release came at a time "when the franchise has never been more popular".

Xbox One sci-fi adventure Quantum Break will ship with episodes of its tie-in TV show included on its disc.Alan Wake also toyed with live-action content, albeit in a far more limited way.
Rather than being a spin-off or separate entity, the episodes will fit snugly within the game's ongoing narrative and adapt to reflect the choices you've made."Acts of the game are interwoven with episodes of the show," Quantum Break's lead writer Sam Lake told Polygon. "What we have as connecting tissue are these moments of choice related to the fiction of time powers."Our bad guy in the game has the most powerful time powers of all, and he has this junction ability where he's able to see glimpses of different futures, different timelines. It's almost like a dynamic player-created cliffhanger at the end of each act."You get to explore these glimpses and visions of two different futures, and you make a choice as to which comes to be. And from that we shift into an episode of the show. From the first scene you'll get alternate content depending on the choice you've made."TV show episodes will elaborate on the storyline path you've chosen and then expand your gameplay within the next chapter by giving you clues to unlock further narrative content.Lake concluded by giving an update on the status of Alan Wake 2, the fully-fledged sequel to Remedy's dark Xbox 360 thriller that was at one point planned to follow downloadable spin-off American Nightmare.Sadly, it sounded like there was little progress to announce."We are constantly looking for opportunities and talking about possibilities to see what we can do with Wake. I would definitely love to do more Wake, but it needs to be something we absolutely feel is right for Wake, and that the bar is high enough that it will be cool. Not just doing at the cost of doing something which isn't as cool as it should be. So... time will tell."

A slew of Xbox One users have claimed that they've been banned from the Skype and Upload Studios apps on Xbox One supposedly due to nothing more than using foul language in their chats and videos."I get the message 'Choose something else to play' simply because I assume MS was not happy about a video I uploaded. I think I should have just had a warning," wrote Xbox Live user rbevanx on the Xbox forums."I think it's strange that MS allows you to record any game footage when there are games with really bad foul language and I say something like plonker or c*ap and I get my benefits removed especially I had 100 per cent feedback when I was on 360 for about 5-7 years on Xbox Live."Rbevanx wasn't alone as over a dozen other users piped up on the thread to report a similar experience.

As night follows day talk of a hardware problem has accompanied last week’s global Xbox One launch.
Whereas PS4 has its now catchily-titled ‘Blinking Blue Light of Death’ fault, online reports suggest that some Xbox One launch units are suffering from a somewhat less catchphrase-friendly disc drive error.
Affected users are saying that not only will their new console not read discs, but the disc drive itself produces a horrible grinding noise when a disc is inserted.
A host of sites such as IGN, Polygon and GamesRadarhave received units suffering from the issue, while Kotakuclaims to have received some 150 emails from readers whose units have done the same.
Even today’s issue of The Sun has a story entitled “Vex box: Gamers blast ‘faulty’ new Microsoft console”.
Whereas Sony has said it believes the BBLOD affects “less than one per cent” of units (although his is an increase from its previous 0.4 per cent estimate), Microsoft has yet to release any estimates of its own. But with over 1m units already in the wild, you’d realistically expect thousands of faulty units to be in the channel – the complicated nature of modern tech makes this an inevitability.
The only official Microsoft statement on the issue to date reads:
"The issue is affecting a very small number of Xbox One customers. We're working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Rest assured, we are taking care of our customers.
"Customers have the option for us to send a replacement console right away without waiting until they have returned their old one. This means a customer only has to wait a matter of days, rather than weeks to get back up and running."

Microsoft’s Xbox One sold around 150k units in its first 48 hours in the UK, MCV understands.
Chart-Track this morning confirmed that Xbox One doubled the week one UK sales of its predecessor Xbox 360, which was launched worldwide in 2005.
Numbers released the week after Xbox 360’s launch showed that the console sold 70k in the UK in the same period, although MCV has since been informed that the Xbox One number is in fact slightly over double this.
Perhaps more tellingly this means that Xbox One is, according to the same source, now just a few thousand units short of beating the Wii U’s total UK sales accrued since its release a year ago this week.
Stock permitting Xbox One should shoot ahead of Nintendo’s machine this week. And a strong launch for PS4 this Friday could see Nintendo relegated to third place in the UK next-gen battle.

What is being described a fundamental tech incompatibility is causing issues for those connecting their TVs to their Xbox One consoles in the UK and Europe.
HDTVtest reports that “a number of British owners have complained about the TV integration feature being broken, due to the introduction of judder with 50Hz content”.
The problem stems from the fact that TV is broadcast at 50Hz in Europe while the Xbox One natively outputs at 60Hz. To compensate for the difference the console uses a process called frame rate conversion (FRC) that effectively duplicates some of the frames to fill in the missing ten frames.
A side-effect of the process, however, is increased image judder. It is particularly noticeable during manning shots or when something is consistently moving on screen, such as a news or sports ticker.
The problem may be a tough one to fix – particularly because Xbox One is designed to display different types of content simultaneously using the Snap feature.
This issue does not affect American users whose TV is already broadcast at 60Hz.

We finally nailed the perfect glitch code for all slim consoles with the Slim Proto. We thank the many many members for their feedback and test results. Because of you we are now able to produce the perfect hardware that will work with all slims and require very little tuning (even less effort than the first slim proto)
Rather than come up with a fancy name i'll just stick with the brand name "proto" (which i guess is a fancy name in itself?)
In production right now is the Slim Proto v2 – however this is the full version and not a prototype so don't be fooled by the name.
Changes:
- Improved code – performance fine tuned
- Smaller footprint/tighter circuit layout to give cleaner signal performance
- Added ROL output support
- Added CR_EN pad
- No more solder bridges required
- Includes custom made "pro" double shielded and grounded CPU_RST Cable
- Supports Trinity & Corona v1 – v6
This product will replace the CR3 Pro which has now been discontinued. This will be the last Slim RGH device we will make, we feel that it just can't get any better.
For performance and test reviews of the Slim proto v1 please go here: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=249
RRP $29.99 / £17.99 / €21.99 – of course we are also offering wholesale discounts and most retailers will pass those on to end users.
We have started accepting pre-orders from retailers so we suggest you contact your preferred retailer and ask them to get their orders in asap

Reacting to reviewer feedback, the developers behind Crimson Dragon have decided to issue an early update to rebalance the game and make the experience less taxing on players.
In a message posted to Xbox Wire, Crimson Dragon director Yukio Futatsugi explains the decision. "Crimson Dragon is designed to be challenging. This has always been my vision for the game," Futatsugi stated. "I want you to feel like you've accomplished something each time you master a mission. To be proud of each dragon you've worked so hard to evolve to its ultimate form.
"My challenge as the game director is to find the sweet spot of adhering to my vision for the game while keeping the game from becoming too frustrating," he said. "Using the power of Xbox One's cloud system, we can adjust this balance even after release. Based on the feedback so far, we've decided to make some changes even before the game is released."
Futatsugi then outlines three of the biggest changes. Experience points earned during battle will be increased (even if you fail the current mission), the jewels used as in-game currency have been increased in number and frequency of appearance, and the "Casual" and "Classic" difficulty levels have been altered to "better match their intended level of difficulty." All three of these changes should make the game easier, though exactly how much easier is up in the air until the patch arrives.

Sure, a lot of games have 3D graphics, with fully rounded character models and everything, but their playgrounds are essentially flat – Avatar in 2D. The Secret Castle is reach-through-the-screen 3D (without the glasses), letting players manipulate the setting to see around objects, new solutions popping out from behind pillars and stashed under toys.
The Secret Castle launched on iOS from Platronic Games earlier this year, using motion controls that allowed players to tilt their screens and peer behind things in the game's environment. It's free to try, like a lot of games in the App Store – and that last part is one of its problems.
"The game has sold a couple thousand copies since launch," Platronic Games founder John Francis tells Joystiq. "The reason I'd say that was poor is because even with a modest budget we never really recouped all sales. Everyone on the team was very passionate about the game and working for free on their nights and weekends.
"Also, our sales model was largely traditional in a growing free-to-play and socially media-driven market. Without Facebook plugins or a pre-established hardcore fanbase like you might find with platformers or tactics games, telling people you reinvented the hidden-object genre was a tough sell."
Platronic wants to give The Secret Castle one more shot at success, this time with a different kind of motion control: Kinect.

The Logitech Harmony series of universal remotes just became a little more universal, thanks to the added ability to control the freshly-launched Xbox One. A post on the Logitech blog reveals that the company has been working with Microsoft to ensure Harmony remote compatibility, and that all users should be able to control their system with the universal remotes from day one.
Previous-gen consoles (are they officially previous-gen now?) like the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii could be controlled by certain Harmony models in the past. The Xbox 360 was controlled via an IR sensor, while the PS3 and Wii were controlled via Bluetooth. The Logitech website doesn't specify how the Xbox One andHarmony remotes communicate, but each new Microsoft console does come with a big rectangle that blasts IR signals. We'll let you do the math and speculation from there.
The Xbox One currently lacks a first-party remote such as the Xbox 360 Media Remote, but in the meantime, the Harmony remotes will get you around your dashboard if, say, you don't want to talk to your console, wave your hands or use the controller.

Xbox One will sell out and there will be difficulty getting stock, admits Xbox VP Phil Harrison.
But, he added, the firm is doing everything it can to accelerate stock replenishment.
The Microsoft exec told MCV what comes next for the Xbox business now it has launched its new games console, and admitted the immediate challenge is the struggle it faces in meeting demand.
"Our job on a tactical level is to ensure we get enough supply to retailers and customers as we possibly can to meet demand, and that will be a struggle but we are doing our best," he told MCV.
"There will be difficulty getting stock through until Christmas but we will do everything we can to accelerate that. And then from a software point-of-view on our services, that are constantly upgrading, we will continue to innovate there. From a games and product point-of-view, we have a very strong line-up for the year ahead. So this is really just one day in the calendar and then tomorrow it is back to work. We have some big games to bring to market in the first quarter and beyond."
As it turned out, retailers had held back some stock for launch night on Xbox One. GAME, Tesco, Amazon and John Lewis all had additional stock, although all retailers expected them to sell-out.

UK retail giant GAME has hailed last night's Xbox One launch an incredible success, and says that the console's sales will easily beat the launch of Xbox 360.
The firm created a pop-up GAME store at Trocadero for the launch of the console, with 26 year-old Charlie Pulbrook from Kent the first in the queue.
GAME added that if customers want an Xbox One for Christmas, they can still get one if they're quick.
“Last night was incredible," said Ian Chambers, chief digital officer from GAME.
"You could almost taste the excitement - gamers had been waiting for Xbox One for over eight years and we saw a massive turnout at the midnight openings at more than 300 GAME stores across the UK. We’ve seen record pre-order numbers for the new generation consoles and looking at the initial response it's clear that sales will easily surpass that delivered at the Xbox 360 launch.
"There is still huge demand and if you pre-order now we can still get your Xbox One to you in time for Christmas, so don't miss out! The first of the new generation consoles has set the bar high and along with our customers we can't wait to get to grips with everything the Xbox One has to offer."
