Twitch game broadcasting is coming to Microsoft's Xbox One console next month to coincide with the release of Titanfall.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Twitch CEO Emmett Shear said the service would launch on the hardware on March 11th.
"It's complete integration," said Shear.
"It's exciting because we've never had the ability to broadcast from a console like this with such a deep level of integration. The concept of being able to join a broadcasters' party is really cool, and it's another step in the direction of interacting more closely with broadcasters."
Twitch streaming has already been available on Sony's PS4 since launch, and has been used a plethora of times by players.
During the Christmas period between December 23rd and January 3rd, 20 per cent of all Twitch game broadcasts were said to have come from the PS4. As of last month, more than 1.7 million game streams had been broadcast by PS4 users via Twitch and Ustream.
Those streams attracted nearly 22 million spectate sessions, with broadcasts totalling more than 55 million minutes.

GameStop's UK branch is selling the newly announced Titanfall Xbox One bundle at £370 (around $617), some £30 less than the suggested £400 tag($667). In effect, GameStop is doubling the difference of Microsoft's suggested price drop - the company launched the console at £430 in the UK.
GameStop has precedence here; it's also been selling the PS4 at £330, which is £20 less than the system's recommended price in the UK. Other major retailers like Amazon, GAME, Zavvi, and ShopTo are selling the Titanfall bundle at the suggested £400.
The Titanfall bundle hits the UK alongside Respawn's shooter on March 14. North America boards the meteor-like mechs a few days earlier on March 11, but the Xbox One price drop remains limited to the sovereign isle, where it'll go into effect on Friday, February 28.

This morning's announcement of Twitch integration for Xbox One had us quickly getting Twitch's Matthew DiPietro, VP of Marketing, fielding our questions.
Highlights of the Xbox One's Twitch integration include the "Xbox, broadcast" voice command and the ability to archive streams for later viewing. Sony had no updates to share about the ability to archive streams on PS4 when we followed up with the company this morning.
Twitch on Xbox One also allows picture-in-picture in any corner of the screen, and friends are notified when a broadcast begins. Xbox One broadcasts also allow a viewer to send a friend request, party request and join the game.
The console also supports the most lines of chat on a console, use of emoticons and name colors. Our quick and dirty Q&A with DiPietro can be found after the break.

Welcome to day two of games with across the board review scores. Yesterday, it was Thief. Today it's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Once again, we skewed higher in the spectrum in our review, noting the game has the "same presentation quirks as the original," with awkward (potentially infuriating) stealth sections.- Game Trailers (83/100): "The combat system is sufficiently deep and gives you enough mobility to manage varied groups of enemies. The timing for blocks and dodges doesn't always feel intuitive, but the more time you spend with the system, the more it grows on you."
- Gamespot (70/100): "Lords of Shadow 2 should have been a much shorter game."
- Game Informer (60/100): "This shambling monstrosity is composed of chunks from other, better games. Rather than blend them together into something new like its predecessor attempted, this one just feels like a patchwork mess."
- Eurogamer (50/100): "Sharpening the disappointment is the fact that the team at MercurySteam has already made a good game, and perhaps had an opportunity here to make a great one."
- Edge (40/100): "Lords Of Shadow 2 is clunky, ugly and deeply misguided. ... MercurySteam says this will be the final game in the Lords Of Shadow saga, and on the evidence of this cluttered, bloated and forgettable mess, it's just as well."

Microsoft has released a preview video detailing the new features and enhancements coming in next month's Xbox One firmware update, including improved party chat functionality and friends list features.
Starting next month, Xbox One player parties will have party chat enabled by default -- a change spurred by frequent user requests. The Xbox One's improved interface will clearly differentiate between in-game competing players and cross-game chat within parties, and party invitations will specify player requests for chat, gameplay, or both.
Players will also be able to check up on what their friends are doing more quickly starting in next month's update, as friend status can now be accessed with three button presses or a single voice command. The update additionally introduces a message shortcut menu, and friends may now be identified as "favorites," giving them priority and list placement over followers and acquaintances.
If you're looking to maintain a tidy friends list, you might want to start mentally ranking your friends by how much you like them. Friendship quotient, incidentally, is determined by frequency of real-world interaction divided by cheap Titanfall kills. Judge your friends harshly.

After choosing Satya Nadella to replace Steve Ballmer as CEO, Microsoft has elected to appoint Stephen Elop as head of its Devices and Studios division. The news comes from an internal memo posted over on TechCrunch. Microsoft's Devices and Studios wing oversees Xbox, Surface, entertainment and games.
Elop was the former CEO of Nokia, which Microsoft announced it intended to purchase last year. Elop will replace Julie Larson-Green, who will shift roles from hardware over to Microsoft's My Life and Work team, a subdivision of the Applications and Services Group. Prior to her appointment as head of Xbox last year, Larson-Green was in charge of all Windows products.
At one point, Elop was in the running to replace Ballmer at Microsoft, at which point insiders claim he was considering selling off the Xbox division. Elop served as CEO of Nokia for three years.

The Xbox One hasn't been selling as well as the PlayStation 4 on a global level, and that's partly due to pricing -- in the UK, Microsoft's system costs a lofty £429 ($713) versus Sony's £349 ($580). That gap is about to narrow, though, as Microsoft plans to cut the Xbox's price to a slightly more reasonable £400 ($665) on February 28th. The company isn't leaning solely on that lower price tag to attract gamers, either. It's also releasing a special Titanfall Xbox One bundle (shown here) that includes both a download code for Respawn's shooter and a month of Xbox Live Gold for the same price as the regular console. Americans can expect this limited edition system to ship alongside the game on March 11th, while Brits should get it on March 14th.

If you're a down-under Dracula-to-be, you'll have to wait an extra week to sink your teeth into a retail copy of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. A local Konami spokesperson told CVG the vampiric hack-and-slash sequel, originally due in Australia on February 28, will now hit the region's retail shelves on March 6 because of a shipping delay. Presumably the Steam version is still due this week, but that's not been confirmed.
Lords of Shadow 2 resumes where the opening game left off, with hero Gabriel Belmont transformed into the toothy anti-hero Dracula, re-awakened in the present day to face off with Satan once more. We'll have our review up soon, but if you'd like to try before you bite then check out the demo, available to all on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Microsoft will bundle Titanfall with Xbox One consoles starting March 11 in the United States. Additionally, the Xbox One's price will drop in the UK from £430 ($716.08) to £399.99 ($666.10). The price drop will go into effect this Friday, February 28.
The Titanfall bundle will cost the same amount as the Xbox One system typically does in North America, $499.99, and can be seen on Microsoft's website. Players picking up the bundle next month will receive a download code for Titanfall packed in to the box, as opposed to a boxed, retail copy of the game. The bundle will be available for "a limited time only" at select retailers.
Titanfall is the first game from Respawn Entertainment, the developer created by former Call of Duty veterans Jason West and Vince Zampella in April 2010. West left the developer in March 2013 after the duo settled with Activision in its Infinity Ward lawsuits in May 2012. Those looking for more Titanfall action should look no further than the six-person beta massacre our daring Joystiq editors took part in.

Xbox One price cut levels the playing field with PlayStation 4, says Microsoft.
The platform holder says the reduced price is designed to encourage a significant spike in sales to coincide with the launch of Titanfall - which Microsoft calls 'a rare moment' in a console's life.
The firm believes EA's blockbuster will be a major system seller for its new machine, and it comes at a crucial time. As revealed by MCV last week, PS4 has been outselling Xbox One 2:1 this year so far.
"I think it is a great deal. To buy an Xbox One for £399, and it comes with Kinect and Titanfall included. So yeah [it levels the playing field]," said Eagle.
"Moments like Titanfall is pretty rare in the life of console. I think back to when Halo came out on the original Xbox, or when Call of Duty 2 came out on Xbox 360, these are special, special games that people buy a console in order to be able to play. I think Titanfall is one of those games. We've just seen 2m people on the multiplayer Beta, and the feedback we have had from that has been incredible. So we are confident we have something special on our hands, and we can't wait for people to buy it and start playing."
However, Eagle denied the move is purely down to PS4, which continues to outsell Xbox One in the UK and globally.
"We are very happy with how launch has gone. Xbox One has been our most successful console launch ever. Both platforms have sold incredibly well and been commercially successful in a short space of time, and that's great for the industry. And we are happy to be a part of that. And now seems to be the right time to make these announcements and these adjustments as we kick on forward from here on in.
"It is purely about building momentum at the right moment of time, and when these special games come out you have the opportunity to drive velocity very, very hard. That's the reason why we are doing it around Titanfall. People buy a console to buy games, it sounds simple and obvious, but never truer. And Xbox One is the only console where you are going to be able to play the three hottest games of the year: Titanfall, Watch Dogs and Destiny. If you want to play all three of those, you have to buy an Xbox One."
Any price drop will not be taken lightly, particularly as it could impact the profitability of the console. But Eagle believes the machine will be able to recoup any losses from the additional number of gamers buying titles and Xbox Live subscriptions.
"It is in our interest to build the highest install base of Xbox One as we can," he added. "The more people that own an Xbox One the more people that buy games the more people that take out Live subscriptions and the more people that transact online, and it is all those together that makes us a profitable business."

February 25th, 2014, 00:04 Posted By: wraggster
Microsoft stepped up its efforts to outdo Sony’s PS4 today by slicing £30 off the UK price and announcing a Titanfall bundle, offering Respawn’s debut shooter for free with the console for a limited time. It’s a timely shot in the arm for the platform, Microsoft apparently acknowledging that it has some work to do in order to keep the gap between Xbox One and PS4 from becoming too great. It announced last month that Xbox One had sold 3.9 million to date, a figure outstripped by PS4s 5.3 million global sales; Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle told us earlier today that Microsoft is confident that it can overhaul its rival in the longterm.“I would say that we’re at the start of our journey, meaning we’re in 13 markets,” he told us. “Sony is in 49 markets with the recent launch in Japan. We are very happy with where we are at the moment with Xbox One, it’s been our most successful console launch ever and both consoles have been tremendously successful – that’s great for the industry. We see this as a marathon, something that plays out over many years and we’re absolutely in it for the long haul.”More immediate concerns might surround those who bought an Xbox One before today, having paid £30 more. There are no plans to compensate those who bought the console at the higher price, says Eagle. “We’re very appreciative of those that have bought a console since launch, and many of those consoles in the run-up to launch did come with the inclusion of a game – you’ll remember at the time we had the choice of FIFA or Forza. This latest offer is timed to celebrate the launch of Titanfall. Unfortunately we can’t offer anything retroactively.”

"Around two million unique users" participated in theTitanfall beta, according to Respawn Entertainment community manager Abbie Heppe.
She told Polygon that the Xbox One and PC beta enabled Respawn to identify a number of bugs ahead of the game's mid-March release and build ties with what the studio hopes will develop into a long-term fanbase.
On the possibility of a trouble-free launch for the game, Heppe said: "You never want to say that everything is going to be perfect. Obviously there are things that can change. But you don't want to say, 'oh, no, there will still be problems,' because you don't want to give people a lack of confidence in what you're doing.
"I think that this beta was really about giving people confidence that not only will we be communicative with them, but we're actively trying to work out any bugs now.
"We're still looking for tweaks to certain weapons or other things," Heppe added. "The designers spent a lot of time watching videos and streams of people playing to try and look and see how they were abusing things or not understanding things."
Get our Titanfall beta impressions and watch exclusive gameplay footage in our recent Titanfall preview.
In related news, NeoGAF user sangreal has posted what is claimed to be a list of Titanfall achievements for Xbox.
Publisher EA has confirmed a PC and Xbox One Titanfall release date of March 11, 2014 in North America and March 13 in Europe. The Xbox 360 version, which is being handled by Bluepoint Games, was recentlydelayed until March 25 in the US and March 28 in Europe.

Microsoft has confirmed that it is to release new Dead Rising 3 DLC this Tuesday, February 25 in the form of the Chaos Rising expansion pack.
The Xbox One release will be the third in a four-part series of single-player add-ons collectively titled Untold Stories of Los Perdidos.
The expansion's release follows the January launch of the Operation Broken Eagle pack and early February's Fallen Angel pack. Part four, The Last Agent, is also scheduled to launch in 2014.
While Chaos Rising's contents haven't been fully detailed, the add-on is expected to introduce a new story strand, as well as fresh vehicles and weapons.
All four Untold Stories of Los Perdidos episodes can be pre-purchased at a discounted rate as part of the Dead Rising 3 season pass.
Capcom said in January that Dead Rising 3 shipments topped one million units worldwide during the Xbox One exclusive's first month of availability.
CVG's Dead Rising 3 review concluded: "It may suffer both visually and technically next to its fellow launch titles, but there's no denying there's still some madcap brand of fun to be had in Los Perdidos."

Microsoft will fix a major technical fault with Xbox One's TV integration in Europe and PAL regions "within weeks".
The fault, which causes a 'juddering' picture when viewing PAL television broadcasts, will be fixed via a system update this spring, Xbox UK's Harvey Eagle confirmed to CVG.
The problem is caused by Xbox One's native 60hz refresh rate, which causes frames to be dropped or skipped when a 50hz television signal, such as that used by Sky, Virgin and BT in the UK, is pushed through the console.
"I can't give you a specific date today, but I can tell you definitely that that issue will be resolved within a matter of weeks as one of the updates that we make to the console," Xbox UK's Harvery told CVG.
"I'm happy to confirm that that will be Spring time frame. I can't be more specific than that, but it's weeks, not months. It's important and we're excited to get that fixed as quickly as possible."
It's not yet clear how Microsoft will tackle the issue.
One option would be to force the console into 50hz mode when using the TV app, though this would seriously affect the platform's multitasking functions.
Currently one workaround allows users to 'trick' the Xbox One console into changing refresh rates.

Microsoft will soon launch an Xbox One Titanfall bundle, leaked artwork has revealed.
The pack will contain a standard Xbox One with Kinect, a standard wireless controller and headset, a digital copy of Titanfall and a month's subscription to Xbox Live Gold.Details of the bundle were posted and quickly pulled by Australian site Stevivor, but the information was picked up and archived by NeoGAF.The edited article now explains that the author hadn't yet received Microsoft's embargo for the pack at the time it was originally published.Intriguingly, the console was listed for the same price as a standard Xbox One. But how will that translate here?Stevivor states that the embargo for more news will lift at 1am, 25th February in Australian time. Be advised: that's 2pm here in the UK.

Microsoft has announced the first Xbox One price cut. From 28th February Xbox One will carry an estimated retail price of £399.99 in the UK. It currently costs £429.99.Coinciding with the announcement, Microsoft has confirmed the Xbox One Titanfall bundlethat leaked online earlier this morning. This Titanfall bundle includes an Xbox One console, the Kinect sensor, a standard Xbox One wireless controller, a standard Xbox One Chat Headset, one month of Xbox Live Gold membership and a digital copy of Titanfall for the same price of £399.99. You can pre-order the bundle from today. The price cut comes just three months after the Xbox One launched in Europe on 22nd November 2013. While the console has sold over twice as fast as its predecessor the Xbox 360, it is being outsold by its cheaper rival the PlayStation 4.Xbox UK managing director Harvey Eagle told Eurogamer the price cut was not in response to this sales situation. Rather, he insisted it was to do with capitalising on the launch of Titanfall, which he expects will be an Xbox One system seller."The reason for doing this is about giving gamers in the UK the best value we can with Xbox One," Eagle said."That starts with the announcement we're making about this new price point of £399 moving forward, and continues with the inclusion of the hottest game of the year in Titanfall."In terms of our sales, this has been our most successful UK launch ever. I think we can say at this point already that both platforms are commercially successful, and I think that's great news for the industry."But I will also say we're only a few months into a generation that's going to last for many many years. So we take a long-term view. This is very much a marathon for us, not a sprint, and we're in it for the long haul. We're very excited about the announcements we're making today."Eagle said Xbox One sales were "on track with where we hoped we would be at this point in time"."Xbox 360's been a phenomenal success in the UK. For this to be the most successful launch we've ever done has thrilled us to be honest. So we're happy with where we are. We're excited about the announcements we're making today. We're excited about what's coming further down the line."This is about us offering the best value we can. The release of Titanfall is a great moment to do this. It's a game that has won more than 80 awards so far. It's hugely anticipated. The multiplayer beta was played and enjoyed by millions of gamers around the world. And we feel now is the best time to adjust the price and to include Titanfall moving forward as a promotional offer."

February 23rd, 2014, 00:56 Posted By: wraggster
Microsoft and Crytek have abandoned plans to release a 'challenge editor' for the Gladiator mode in Xbox One launch title Ryse: Son of Rome.
The challenge editor was revealed last year as a SmartGlass companion app feature that would allow players to craft and share their own challenges in the game's co-up Gladiator mode.
But the features wasn't ready for launch in November 2013, and has failed to materialize some three months after launch.
In a statement on Friday, a Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon why: "After careful consideration, we have decided to cease development on Ryse: Son of Rome's challenge editor and focus on improving and expanding fans' experience with the game through both free content updates and purchased add-on packs," they said.
"We look forward to sharing more details soon."
Gladiator mode is Ryse's co-operative multiplayer mode, which sees players teaming up in a Coliseum to take on hordes of increasingly challenging enemies.
It features dynamic tile sets inspired by the movable floor pieces in the ancient Coliseum which were used to recreate historic battles. These movable tiles are used to make hidden scenery rise from the floor, allowing for battles in settings such as strongholds, ruins and naval arenas to take place.
Crytek has, however, recently confirmed that its upcoming Mars' Chosen DLC pack for Ryse will introduce new game modes and maps from February 28.
Producer Justin Robey detailed the new add-on, which will include brand new maps, a new co-op Survival game mode, and a new character skin.
