Electronic Arts has released The Ultimate Shortcut Bundle for Battlefield 3 – which costs a whopping 3200 Microsoft points.
That's roughly £30 in real money. The DLC is also available via PSN and EA's Origin service.
The package gives players access to all weapons and gadgets for each of the multiplayer classes, a full array of upgrades for every air and ground vehicles and all of the weapons used in the co-op mode.
These in-game items are also available in separate Shortcut DLC, with prices ranging from 560 MSP to 2000 MSP.
The 3200 MSP price tag has already prompted complaints from gamers, according to Gamerzines, who point out that the game itself is cheaper. Tesco, for example, currently has the game listed as £24.99.

If it wasn't already clear from the growing number of Galactic Dance Off videosdoing the rounds on the internet, Microsoft has said in the simplest terms possible that Kinect Star Wars isn't a love letter to core gamers.
Originally due to be released as part of Microsoft's Christmas 2011 line-up but later delayed in order to achieve its "full potential", Kinect Star Wars promises to let "you unleash your inner Jedi - with no controller in the way" across single and co-op, competitive and duel modes.Players can wield a lightsaber in the Jedi Destiny mode and in Duels of Fate, which sees them taking on iconic characters like Darth Vader and Count Dooku, go Podracing across the canyons of Tatooine, or even go on a Rancor Rampage.
"This is a game for anybody that is a Star Wars fan," senior product manager Glenn Gregory told the latest issue of MCV. "It's not The Old Republic, it's not a game for core gamers that want to experience that kind of thing. It's a great experience for people who love Star Wars like myself and want to share it with their families.
"When you look at the Jedi in Episode 1, they are not just waving their wrists around," he added. "There's full body combat, lightsabers, force powers, and they are jumping and being acrobatic. And that is really a fun thing to do with Kinect."
Kinect Star Wars and the limited edition 'R2-D2' Xbox 360 will release worldwide tomorrow. Look for our review shortly.

Bungie is out of the Halo stat-tracking biz, but says "so long and thanks for all the fish" with one last nuke of information. Since 2004, over 20.8 billion Halo matchmaking games have been played, with Halo 3 supplying a majority at 11.5 billion, at around 221 million games averaged monthly. The studio gathered all the data up in a mega infographic, covering stats of the great battles between humanity and The Covenant, and Red vs. Blue. At the end of Bungie's oversight of the online war, the body count exceeded 136 billion, with over 43 billion assists.Having moved on from Halo, Bungie is currently in a 10-year contract with Activision to produce ... something.http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/02/ha...udio-moves-on/

There's no console to match, but Xbox 360 owners who prefer things a little shinier than your run-of-the-mill controller will soon have a trio of new options to consider courtesy of Microsoft. It's just announced three new Chrome Series special edition controllers that will be available in "mid-May" for $54.99 apiece. Those come in your choice of blue, red or silver, and each feature the so-called "transforming" D-pad along with everything else you'd expect from a wireless Xbox 360 controller. Check out the gallery below for a closer look.

Microsoft unwittingly created quite the hacking cottage industry when it first introduced Kinect. Though it took awhile for the company to come to grips with the amazing inventions enabled by its sensor bar, Redmond eventually released Kinect for Windows. Now, the Kinect Accelerator program is here to take Kinect development even further. Kinect Accelerator is a three-month long incubator of sorts for folks with Kinect-basted start-ups. It works by providing the chosen ones with mentors from Microsoft Research, Microsoft Studios, Kinect for Windows and the Xbox team to provide support and knowledge to refine and improve their Kinect apps. Additionally, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs will be available to give advice help the teams craft business plans to help them become profitable.
We had the opportunity to chat with Craig Eisler -- who heads up the Kinect for Windows team and is heavily involved with Kinect Accelerator -- about this new venture. Eisler told us that Microsoft's been planning the program since last summer after witnessing all the Kinect innovations that have been percolating organically. So, the Accelerator gives Microsoft the opportunity to find some of the best ideas and speed up their development. Microsoft wound up receiving almost 500 applicants to the program, and winnowing it down to a final 11 was no easy task -- the final 50 ideas were apparently all quite good, and the initial plan was to only take ten into the program.
The 11 who made the cut hail from across the globe (US, Canada, Argentina, France, and Germany), and will receive $20,000 and office space, plus Kinect hardware and development software to get their ideas off the ground. Unfortunately, we couldn't get Eisler to tell us exactly what each team is working on, but he did say they'll benefit the medical, retail, fashion, and even farm industries when all is said and done. Specifics about the inventions will come later, once the mentors have worked their magic and the apps are closer to their final forms, so stay tuned. You can learn more about the Kinect Accelerator and the chosen teams at the source link below and PR after the break.

New report claims the next-gen system will fight piracy with constant internet requirement
Microsoft’s next generation games console will employ an always-on internet connection to safeguard it from piracy, a new report claims.
News site VG247 believes the system is due for release Christmas 2013 – a claim in line with what Develop’s sources have said on the matter – and will play game media through Blu-ray.
The claims remain unverified. Microsoft was not available for comment at the time of going to press, though has in the past declined to discuss speculation.
It is not known whether the alleged always-on internet connection will be used to curb second-hand game sales.
Further speculation within the VG247 article suggests the system will inhabit two GPU cards, both said to be the equivalent of AMD’s 7000 series.

Final Burn Legends v1.10 is released. Final Burn Legends is a port of Final Burn Alpha to the Xbox. It also includes parts of FBA-XXX Pro. "The reason I developed this port was so that I could play Thunder Blade, Galaxy Force 2, Turbo Outrun, and After Burner 2 on the Xbox. However, it developed into much more than that. Source code is included."
Final Burn Legends v1.10 Changelog:
- Updated emulator core to FB Alpha 0.2.97.15; many games added and/or
improved. See official changelogs for details.
- Roll back on games like 'Guardians' and such.
- Note: this is just a beta of a WIP that +T+ was working on. I went ahead
compiled it and rolled back the Toaplan & Psykio cores to v1.9 for this release.
- Gimmie a break... this is my first time doing this. Besides, iq_132 is working
a version of this too which will be better.

No, we're not moving to a new website. I'm proud to announce the new ScummVM rewrite in C# for Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360 ports. This does not include any of the previous "ScummVM-XNA" code and is all new code based on our current working tree.
The Windows Phone 7 port has been the main target of our work as I'm more familiar with the touchscreen controls. It shouldn't be much more work for the Xbox 360 port since I'm going through the XNA Game Studio. Since going through each engine is very tedious work, I've only worked on the engine I'm most familiar with: Groovie. And, I think the results speak for themselves.
I'll have the source code up on GitHub soon, but here's a brief snippet of some working converted C# code.

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!
ScummVM supports many adventure games, including LucasArts SCUMM games (such as Monkey Island 1-3, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, ...), many of Sierra's AGI and SCI games (such as King's Quest 1-6, Space Quest 1-5, ...), Discworld 1 and 2, Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2, Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, Broken Sword 1 and 2, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Gobliiins 1-3, The Legend of Kyrandia 1-3, many of Humongous Entertainment's children's SCUMM games (including Freddi Fish and Putt Putt games) and many more.
What's new (Xbox/Xbox360-version):
- Updated to ScummVM 1.4.1 (check the NEWS file for the changes)
- Source code clean-up. Xbox specific code moved to its own files.
- Xbox 360 port (check README-XBOX360.txt for more info)
- Added command line support.

Yesterday, we reported on a research group at Drexel University who claimed Xbox 360 hard drives retained the credit card info of past users. Today, Microsoft issued a statement in response to the claim.
Jim Alkove, general manager of Microsoft's security of interactive entertainment business, responded to Joystiq today, offering the following statement: We are conducting a thorough investigation into the researchers' claims. We have requested information that will allow us to investigate the console in question and have still not received the information needed to replicate the researchers' claims.
Xbox is not designed to store credit card data locally on the console, and as such seems unlikely credit card data was recovered by the method described. Additionally, when Microsoft refurbishes used consoles we have processes in place to wipe the local hard drives of any other user data. We can assure Xbox owners we take the privacy and security of their personal data very seriously. In summary, Microsoft is looking into the claim, and suggests it's not possible to strip previous users' credit card data from a refurbished console. But best to hold onto that old Xbox 360 for now, until this whole thing is figured out.

Every four years, EA releases a soccer game based on the UEFA championship. EA renewed the license for the franchise long enough to make a 2012 version. However, there won't actually be a standalone UEFA release this year -- instead, EA is putting out UEFA Euro 2012 on April 24 as a DLC pack for FIFA 12. EA stillrefers to it as the "officially licensed videogame," but it's a downloadable expansion.
Why relegate the UEFA to expansion pack status? Mostly because FIFA 12 has been so popular, EA communications manager Steve Frost told Gamasutra. "We felt this was the best way to extend that experience and deliver fresh new content to our fans," he said. Releasing UEFA as DLC helps keep players engaged in FIFA longer.
"We expect that some fans who may not have FIFA 12 will want to play Euro 2012 and therefore purchase both," he said later in the interview, "but the bigger opportunity for us is to offer our loyal and passionate FIFA fans new content." Chances are, if you like soccer, you'd be interested in FIFA anyway, so this seems like a win-win.
