Self-proclaimed XBLA enthusiast Sacra has spotted that two classic Sega fighting games – specifically, Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers – along with the less fondly remembered Sonic The Fighters, have received ratings from Germany’s entertainment software self-regulation body USK, suggesting they are on their way to Microsoft’s Live service, and potentially other formats as well.

Gearbox has announced that its Mechromancer DLC for Borderlands 2 will arrive a week earlier than expected.
It had originally been scheduled to launch on October 16th.
The download will go live on Xbox 360 and PC this afternoon, though it likely won’t arrive on PSN until Sony’s weekly store update tomorrow afternoon.
The content is free to those who pre-ordered the game and for everyone else will cost either 800 Microsoft Points or £7.99 on PSN/PC.
The Mechromancer is a fifth character option for the game. It garnered a spot of controversy in August when a Gearbox dev described it as “Girlfriend Mode”, owing to the fact that it offers inexperienced FPS players an easier in-game experience via the new Best Friends Forever skill tree.

October 8th, 2012, 00:06 Posted By: wraggster
via http://emu-russia.net/en/
Sony Playstation emulator for Microsoft XBOX has been updated. Changes:
- The original release of v21 had a small little issue with changing of CD's so I kinda felt bad about that. I made this to help in my testing of v22. Which is looking real good btw. Well I also did it so I could play "Speed Punks" redump.org image over a samba share.
Stuff that didnt make it.
* No new GTE. No SPU 1.10 core. No GPU 1.18 core. No "Fake 'gpu busy' states". Several games that are playble in v22 are NOT working in the v21 build. Large/small sound buffer (uses small).
Carryovers from the up and coming pcsxbox v22
* Some new skins by Gilou999
* New cheat codes by Dominater01 with some edits by Cheema. Old cheat codes are there if you still wish to use them.
* Change Disk option fixed now.. Oopsie!
* Redump.org image support.
* Can handle (.mds/.mdf) images with subchannel data (I think, untested).
* Much improved CDDA playback. This fixes the CDDA in ALOT of games which makes them worthwhile playing. Unlike the older x-port releases which had some serious CDDA issues.
* Fixed an issue with x-port's CDDA audio volume code that caused some games to appear to have no music.
* CDDA audio volume is now tied into the ingame (emulation) volume so setting CDDA music volume in here will now work.
* Fix to Re-volt CDDA. Earthworm Jim and Contra - Legacy Of War now play audio. Make sure you have the matching ".ccd/.cue" files for Earthworm Jim.
* "Turn on Framelimiter When Playing FMV" option.
* Less "lag" when returning to a game after being in the "In Game Menu"
* "Disable Memory Slot 2" options so you can play Codename Tenka.
* New samba code and all the advantages it comes with.
* Synopsis lookup based on disc SLUS id. However the synopsis needs work big time! Any volunteers?
* Per game video resolution and autoload savestate.
* Most "graphic fixes", "cpu", and "spu fixes" can be changed while in game.
* Bug fixed where sometimes "graphic fixes" did not work when switching games. (A long standing bug).
* Config DB and Preset Controllers. I'll include my currently created Preset Controllers. However there is no Config DB for the v21 build. If someone wants to start a thread here on emuxtras to start creating some then you have our support. However curent config DB focus is on the up and coming pcsxbox v22.
* Game configuration is deliberately compatible with the up and coming v22 so you should be able to use this and it should not interfere with v22.. For those scaredy cats I'm including "patched" versions by Cheema.
* Ability to reset a games configuration options to default. Press back in main configuration menu to do all, or in individual settings menu for just those.
* All the latest madmab edition interface features! (See below for more info)

A member of the Team Xecuter forum, posted today two pics from a corona console manufactured in 08/2012. This console contain a Liteon 16D5S drive with a new Firmware Version 1532, but most important is the new chip on the nand spot. Seems to be a new eMMC version from samsung this time (the previous one was from phison and only on 4GB console). We don’t know yet if the console was from a 4GB or 250GB pack (16MB or 4GBnand), we can also see some solder on the pins used to dump 4GB console’s nand but no info if the guy succeeded to dump it … more info soon.

Microsoft's Xbox Music service will reportedly launch alongside Windows 8 on October 26, according to anonymous sources speaking with Polygon.
The service will supposedly provide both subscription-based and free ad-supported streaming music plans for Xbox 360, Windows 8 and Windows Phone users. Microsoft SkyDrive integration is also said to factor heavily into the service's functionality, allowing for synced playlists and music libraries across all supported devices.
These claims match an earlier report from last June, in which Bloombergclaimed that Xbox Music would launch with Spotify-like streaming options and cloud storage capabilities. Microsoft did state shortly thereafter that reports of it "launching a new music service on Xbox this fall are inaccurate," only todiscontinue certain Zune services the following month.
Personally, all we care about is whether we'll be able to use this new service to watch Girls' Generation videos, regardless of when it actually comes out.

ToyLogic's Happy Wars launches Oct. 12 for Xbox Live Gold subscribers
The Xbox 360 will get its first free-to-play game next week, as Microsoft today confirmed the microtransaction-driven Happy Wars will launch October 12.
While the game uses a free-to-play business model, users will need to be active Xbox Live Gold subscribers in order to download the title. The multiplayer combat game drops gamers into 15-on-15 skirmishes. Each player's character will be completely customizable with thousands of items, including outfits, weapons, and shields. In addition to the large-scale multiplayer battles, the game will also feature an offline single-player campaign mode, co-op mode with computer-controlled adversaries, and more.
Although the ToyLogic-developed title is Xbox Live's first foray into free-to-play, it won't be the last. Signal Studios' Ascend: New Gods will rely on microtransactions for its money, and is set to launch next year.

This generation of consoles isn't dead yet, says Frank O'Connor. And his latest game will prove it
[h=3]343 Industries[/h]
Walking across the floor of the Eurogamer Expo with Frank O'Connor, Halo 4 franchise development director, takes longer than you think. People stop him to talk about Fable, developers want to chat, and the odd dude clutching a Halo poster even wants an autograph.
O'Connor is polite but baffled, but it's a good sign. Halo 4 is the first original title from 343 Industries, and comes with a load of new features, including new episodic cooperative content, Spartan Ops. And as O'Connor explains below, in-between chat about the survival of this gen consoles and world wars, the internet isn't keen on change.
"There are 9 million people in the rest of the world that are the silent majority who don't know who makes the game. They don't play certain parts of it and they don't care"
Q: Are you tired of being asked about the pressure that comes from following Bungie's Halo titles?
Frank O'Connor: I'm not tired of it at all. I was obviously part of Bungie for a long time and it's a completely legitimate question. I think that Bungie was so innovative and so technically adept and so originally that when you put the number 4 in front of something people are naturally cynical anyway and they have absolutely no reason to trust or believe that this new outfit is going to be able to follow in those footsteps. So I'm not sick of the question, and I'll be answering it for years. And that answer is always going to be the same, it's a hard act to follow but I think we assembled a team that was capable of doing something really interesting in the universe and taking it forward in appropriate ways.
Because it's not going to be perfect, when the game comes out, there are going to be things as it was at Bungie that people don't like a complain about and that's the nature of gaming. Especially the nature of a game like Halo which has so many constituent pieces, and so many constituencies of players.
Q: The fan base seems to have some very specific ideas about what they want to see in the game, down to certain types of armour...
Frank O'Connor: And that's the beauty of the internet. Before when you had a subjective opinion nobody got to find out how wrong it was and now people instantly broadcast how wrong your opinions are all over the world, and again, Halo has got lots of different parts and so it has lots of different audiences and they all think they're the main target.

Twelve of the total 72 Tier 1 Operators can be unlocked in the multiplayer demo, ranging from the British SAS, to the German KSK and US Navy SEAL. In the Medal of Honor: Warfighter single-player mission "Shore Leave," Tier 1 Operators are assaulting an Al-Shabaab pirate stronghold on the Somali coast. The mission opens up with a beach siege by boat while our stalwart crew of Stumps and company are under heavy fire.
This particular mission features a diverse array of set pieces and gameplay scenarios that keep things from stagnating and falling into the usual shooter doldrums. What starts as the usual cover-based shootouts eventually segues into breaching heavily defended rooms full of Somali pirates, leading to a portion where you must control a heavily-outfitted drone to clear the debris of a recently bombarded building full of errant pirates.
Shore Leave ultimately culminates in a particularly tense sniper segment where the Tier 1s must clear distant rooftops of RPG-wielding baddies so that a chopper convoy can come in and clean up the town. And by clean up the town I mean shoot every single guy who doesn't have a ZZ Top beard.
In addition to Shore Leave, another single-player mission was available: Hot Pursuit. This mission places players behind the wheel as they chase down a suspect through the streets of Karachi, a massive city in Pakistan.
Danger Close Games tapped talent from EA Canada to help develop this driving mission, which sees a Tier 1 operator tear through vendors and shacks with reckless abandon. Honestly, I felt like kind of a jerk just plowing through peoples' lives like that.
Hot Pursuit has a lot of the same principles seen in Shore Leave – spectacle and large set-piece moments. I was impressed with the mission and the driving felt very solid, not the heavy tank-on-ice vehicle I expected from a driving mission in a shooter. Even though Hot Pursuit is quite the juxtaposition, the mission didn't feel out of place in the slightest. See a trailer of the Hot Pursuit mission after the break.

Happy Wars didn't quite make "September," but we're not complaining about a free game arriving a little later than expected. Happy Wars, Toylogic's 30-player XBLA action game, will be free to play for Xbox Live Gold Members when it arrives on October 12.
Naturally, it'll be supported by microtransaction-based character customization, though you can also dress up your adorable little warrior by earning in-game currency. Be sure to equip a jacket! Your poor little merciless combatant might get chilly while he's out laying siege to an enemy castle.

Standard presidential debates are so 2008. In the 2012, we expect a bit more interactivity from our presidential debates, and coincidentally Xbox Live is delivering that to Gold subscribers tonight with the first presidential debate.
Republican nominee Mitt Romney and incumbent President Barack Obama will begin their debate at 9PM Eastern tonight. During the debate, Xbox Live users will be able to answer polls and even suggest questions for the Xbox Live community through Twitter by using the hashtag #XboxPoll.
This is one of four debates that will stream live through the Election 2012 hubon Xbox Live, three presidential debates and one vice presidential. Watching three of the four total debates will net Xbox Live users a free Halo 4 Warrior Armor avatar.

Electronic Arts took a victory lap over FIFA 13 saleslast week, but now that the title's launched in Europe, the publisher is taking another. EA today said that FIFA 13 sold more than 4.5 million games across all platforms and regions in its first five days on sale. The publisher added that makes it the biggest game launch of 2012, and the biggest sports game release of all time.
The soccer sim got off to a quick start, selling a franchise-best 353,000 Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 copies in North America on its first day. That would be added to by the game's United Kingdom debut, which saw 1.23 million copies of FIFA sold in its first 48 hours. EA is also crediting the game as having the highest daily online activity in company history, with as many as 800,000 simultaneous players.
The series has grown considerably in recent years. FIFA Soccer 10 was similarly hailed by EA as the biggest sports game launch of all time, but it posted a first-week total of just 1.7 million copies sold. Last year's game sold 3.2 million copies on consoles, with another 890,000 on iOS.
FIFA 13 is now available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iOS, PlayStation Vita, 3DS, Wii, PC, PlayStation 2, and PSP. A Wii U version has been confirmed to launch alongside that system's November 18 debut.
