The Xbox 360 will not be receiving a price cut in the UK this Christmas, Microsoft has told MCV.
It emerged this morning that $50 has been slashed off the price of both the 4GB and 250GB versions of the console in North America. And shortly after that we learnt that Nintendo was slashing the RRP of the Wii in the territory.
But when asked by MCV whether we’d see anything similar in the UK, Microsoft simply sent what it described as a “full list of Xbox bundles available this holiday”.
The SKUS on the list were:
- 250GB Holiday Value bundle inc. Skyrim and Forza 4 - £199
- 250 Kinect Holiday bundle including Kinect, Kinect Adventures, Dance Central 2 and Kinect Sports - £299
- 4GB Kinect Holiday Value bundle including Kinect, Kinect Adventures and Kinect Disneyland - £249
- 4GB Kinect and Nike+ Kinect Training bundle - £269
- 320GB Halo 4 Limited Edition console - £269
- 4GB White Gloss bundle - £149
Nintendo, meanwhile, has told MCV that it has "nothing to announce in the UK at the moment" regarding a possible Wii price cut.
Sony made its Christmas move last week when its new 12GB Super Slim PS3 arrived on the High Street for under £160 at a number of retailers.

Permanent Xbox Live bans are being handed out to Xbox 360 owners who have illegally pirated Halo 4.
The game became available online over the weekend, but can only be played by users who have modded their Xbox 360 console to run pirated code. And have then been daft enough to connect to Xbox Live.
“This email is to notify you that your Xbox Live privileges have been permanently suspended due to illegitimate prerelease title play,” the warning email reads.
“Because your conduct is in violation, the Xbox Live Enforcement Team has issued a permanent suspension. Your Xbox Live privileges will not be reinstated.”
The game won’t be released until November 6th. Microsoft is investigating the source of the leak.
"We are aware of isolated cases in which Halo 4 content has been propped on the web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation immediately,” a Microsoft statement read.
"Consumers should be aware that piracy is illegal and we take vigorous action against illegal activity related to our products and services. Playing pirated copies of games, such as Halo 4, is a violation of the Xbox Live Terms of Use and will result in enforcement action, such as account and console bans."

Global games retail giant GameStop is predicting big things for the next Call of Duty.
The firm says that Black Ops II is the most pre-ordered in its history - and that this means the franchise could once again break records at release in November.
CoD: Black Ops II is due out globally on November 13th.
It follows on on from last year's CoD: Modern Warfare 3, and is the sequel to CoD: Black Ops.
The first Black Ops is in fact the most popular game in the series ever, beating out the Modern Warfare sub-brand which propelled the nine-year-old franchise in the limelight in 2007.
GameStop's bold claims came in a press announcement today that game service Call of Duty Elite will be free when the new game hits.
Launched last year, Elite formerly included subscription options that provided access to DLC and extra community features.
GameStop president Tony Bartel said: "Consumer anticipation for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is tremendous.
"We are seeing the highest pre-orders in history.
"With its current pace, this Call of Duty is on track to break records and is likely to be our biggest game launch of all time."

Microsoft tells Joystiq it is investigating reports of a Halo 4 leak, and working with law enforcement to address the issue.
Images have surfaced on social sites NeoGAF and Reddit, depicting two Halo 4retail discs, and the Xbox 360 dashboard featuring the game ready to be played.
"We have seen the reports of 'Halo 4' content being propped on the Web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation," a Microsoft spokesperson told Joystiq.
In clarifying whether the images represent the actual artwork featured on retail copies of Halo 4, Microsoft explained the need for two discs.
According to the publisher, Halo 4's second disc "contains data that will need to be installed on an Xbox 360 hard drive or compatible flash storage device with at least 8GB of available memory in order to access 'Halo 4's' extensive suite of multiplayer features." Microsoft has employed a similar system for first-party games like Forza Motorsport 4.
Once the data is installed only the first disc will be required to access Halo 4's single- and multiplayer content.

Microsoft has slashed $50 off the price of an Xbox 360 for the impending buying season with specially-marked 'Holiday Bundles'.
 Multiple retailers including GameStop, Best Buy, Amazon and Target are now stocking these new bundles with come in at $50 below their usual value.Numerous bundles priced at $249.99 include both 250GB and 4GB console options and a range of games and Kinect packages on offer. A $349.99 bundle includes the 250GB console, Kinect, Kinect Adventures, Carnival Games and three months of Xbox Live Gold access.
There's no word on the duration of the offer, but we expect it'll span throughout the shopping season.

Halo 4 has been leaked weeks ahead of its November 6 release, according to multiple online sources.
 Images of discs and photos of Xbox dashboards displaying the game name have been posted online. While their validity can be easy debated, the claims are further supported by numerous Xbox Live profiles which have been spotted on the official Xbox site listing Halo 4 as the game currently being played.Examiner also reports that multiple gameplay videos were posted on YouTube Thursday night, and there are claims of profiles associated with playing Halo 4 being banned for "illegitimate prerelease title play".
While it's unclear if official discs have been sold early or if a pre-release review disc has found its way online, Microsoft has told Examiner that it's investigating the reported leaks.
"We have seen the reports of Halo 4 content being propped on the Web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation," said a Microsoft spokesperson.
This is bad news for 343 Industries considering the game's official release is still more than three weeks away. Unfortunately, the Halo series is no stranger to leaks; both Halo 2 and Halo 3 made their way onto the 'net before they hit shelves, as did Halo 3: ODST and Halo Reach.
For now, if you wish to avoid spoilers we suggest you avoid all things Halo 4 on YouTube and forums for the time being.

While Electronic Arts and EA Sports mostly dominated the sales chart in the US for September, there was one standout title from Take-Two: Borderlands 2. The Gearbox Software title has sold 1.4 million copies on consoles in the US, we've learned via Ben Schachter at Macquarie Capital.
The 1.4 million figure does not include digital sales such as Steam or downloads via PlayStation Network, so it's unclear what the real total is, but Borderlands 2 is certainly performing well so far. NPD noted yesterday that it exceeded the first month's unit sales of the first Borderlands (October 2009) by 234 percent.
Schachter's forecast had been estimating 3 million unit sales worldwide of Borderlands 2 in the September quarter (including PC sales). It would appear that the game is well on its way. The title is also slated to ship in Japan in a couple weeks, so it may receive another slight boost from that release.
There's also a chance still that Gearbox could bring the title to Wii U, as the developer does appear to like the upcoming Nintendo console.
On the flip side of the NPD data spectrum, Joystiq has word that Majesco's Kinect-exclusive dribbling trainer NBA Baller Beats sold an anemic 3,000 copies in its debut month. Developed by Nova Scotia-based HB Studios, Baller Beats comes packaged with a full-size Spalding basketball and has a licensed soundtrack featuring the likes of Kanye West, Run DMC, Them Crooked Vultures, Busta Rhymes, and Common.

Capcom has announced Darkstalkers Resurrection, a digital collection of the franchise heading to consoles next year.
The title was announced during a Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Panel at New York ComicCon. It’ll be developed by Iron Galaxy Studios and include arcade versions of Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 bundled as a downloadable offering.
The bundling together of the titles was a must according to Capcom, realizing the series’ fan base was divided between the two games.
"We were agonizing over which to release," producer Derek Neal told Joystiq. "They're the two most popular, fan-favorite games of the people who have played Darkstalkers way back when and loved it. There's a group that loves Darkstalkers 2 and a group that loves Darkstalkers 3."
Neal added that Capcom legend Yoshinori Ono is hoping to see the series come back even further with analtogether new effort.
"Ono has a dream of revitalizing the Darkstalkers franchise, and this is the first step to get there. [Ono] wants Darkstalkers 4."
Darkstalkers Resurrection will run $14.99 and is expected out on PSN and XBLA in early 2013.

THQ has announced that its WWE ’13 Austin 3:16 Collector’s Edition has sold out.
The SKU is a GAME-exclusive release and will arrive alongside other versions of the title on November 2nd.
It contains a hand-signed Stone Cold Steve Austin art card, an exclusive in-game costume and entrance for the wrestler and a four-disc DVD set called Stone Cold Steve Austin: The Bottom Line On The Most Popular Superstar Of All Time.
There are still a number of pre-order incentives available for those who wish to buy one of the game’s other versions.
Those who pre-order WWE ’13 through Amazon will get a Prima guide while HMV get a WWE wrist band and a Best of Raw Vol.1 DVD. An alternative wrist band is available to Grainger Games customers.

Those of you playing FIFA Ultimate Team and following EA Sports on Twitter will know that the developer has been rolling out tweaks and fixes to its server infrastructure ever since FIFA 13 launched to try to solve issues with trading piles, watch lists and the auction house.
Well, according to a forum post from EA's community manager CHUBOI 7 in the early hours of the morning, there will be more maintenance this week as well as a title update for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 that two-footed tackles various bugs and connectivity issues.
Maintenance that took place yesterday should have successfully addressed stuck and missing items in the FUT watch list and trade pile, duplicate match results in Seasons and Online Friendlies and being relegated from Div 1 in Seasons with matches remaining.
There will also be more maintenance late tonight US time (early Friday UK) that will result in service downtime and will allow the developers to do some work on the FUT auction house, to change error messaging in the FUT Web and EA Sports Football Club apps, and to stop leaderboards displaying incorrect gamertags.
As for the title update, that's beginning to roll out now for the PC version and will follow for PS3 and Xbox 360 users "later this weekend". Here's the full list of tweaks for that:
- Connection stability in Online Seasons when finding an opponent in the Arena, and at kick-off.
- Career Mode freeze while starting a new career with free agents.
- Career Mode hangs when using Game Face.
- Stability in Career Mode when players retire or are being bought back from loan.
- Users will no longer be able to lower difficulty settings in a FUT Seasons match.
- Freeze in FUT Online Tournament HUB on PS3.
- Napoli of Serie A will now have fully authentic kits and crests in FIFA and FIFA Ultimate Team.
- Legacy defending and passing assistance options removed in Pro Clubs.
- Freeze in Pro Clubs Results screen.
- Matchmaking settings in Pro Clubs (with "ANY" and "Match Keeper") will provide the desired results.
- Changes made in National Squad not properly reflected in Manager Mode screen.
- (PC Only) Freeze while retrieving Hospitality Settings.
"Some fans may wonder why we can't fix all the known issues at once," CHUBOI wrote. "That's a fair question and the answer isn't quite as simple. We are delivering improvements and fixes in such a way to ensure the millions of people playing FIFA 13 each day do not experience undue or overly lengthy network/server outages, that title updates and other improvements are done to a high quality, and that we're confident the changes will improve the FIFA 13 experience for everyone.
"We have plans for further updates to FIFA 13 this month, so stay tuned and we'll keep you updated on the dates for these improvements, as and when available."
According to the forum post, FIFA 13 is responsible for "the largest amount of daily online play for any game in EA history". And that's not just me playing the Advanced Shooting Skill Game over and over again for ever and ever.

Microsoft has just revealed (via Major Nelson) that it's sold another 270,000 Xbox 360 units for the month of September in the US. Xbox 360 held 49 percent market share among current-gen consoles. This is the 21st consecutive month that Xbox 360 has maintained its lead as the top selling current-gen console in the US.
In a press release, Microsoft also noted that total retail spend on the Xbox 360 platform in September (hardware, software and accessories) reached $380 million, and consumers spent more on Xbox 360 products in September than they spent on the other two current-generation consoles combined.
The company is highly optimistic about its holiday prospects, with big titles arriving, like Forza Horizon, Dance Central 3, Fable: The Journey and, of course, Halo 4 (launching on Nov. 6). Beyond that, Microsoft believes it can make an impact with Internet Explorer for Xbox 360, Xbox for Windows 8, Xbox SmartGlass and Xbox Music.

Capcom has side-stepped any further furore about the discovery of DLC on the game disc for Resident Evil 6.
A title update due out “soon” will unlock the No Hope difficulty level, reference to which was discovered on the physical copy of the game earlier this week. It will also open Ada’s campaign, removing the requirement to complete all other chapters before it can be accessed.
“Clarification: some data of this update is on the disc, but said data is incomplete and requires the actual download to access. But again, free,” Capcom has insisted. “Mercenaries costumes are residentevil.net unlocks. Simply register for the site and start earning RE points for those goodies.
“Future paid DLC – like the multiplayer modes we revealed a while ago – is not on the disc. We said as much a month ago, but that point may have been lost in the shuffle. RE6 on-disc DLC is free, paid DLC is not on the disc.”
Capcom told MCV earlier this week that: “While virtually all such content will not be on the disc there will be one piece of content, that for technical reasons, requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc.”

Xbox 360 Controller Emulator (a wrapper library that translates the xinput calls to directinput calls) which allows your controller (GamePad, Joystick, Wheel, ...) to function like an Xbox 360 controller on a Windows PC. Cxbx SVN r174 is released. Cxbx is an Xbox emulator for the Microsoft Windows operating system developed by a group of programmers led by a hacker named Caustik and written in the C++ programming language. Cxbx's goal is to convert a game from an Xbox executable to a native Windows executable.

Warner Brothers sorta, kinda dropped release dates for the various versions of Monolith's Lord of the Rings-flavored MOBA Guardians of Middle-Earth earlier today, but fans were still confused about exactly when the game was going to be out, especially on Xbox 360. So let's set the record straight: The game will arrive on PSN in North America on December 5, and an actual retail version for the PS3 (complete with early access and a full season pass to the DLC) will be out on December 7. On the Xbox 360, there won't be a retail version, and the downloadable version will arrive on December 4.
So there you go. By December 8, you'll be upgrading towers, killing minions, and ganking top lane with Sauron and Gandalf. And on December 14, you'll be watching The Hobbit in theaters. It's almost here!

DICE will unleash a significant server update for Battlefield 3 tomorrow, October 11.
 Deploying at around 9:30am UK time (1:30am Pacific), the update will introduce "balancing tweaks to the Armored Kill gunship and the long awaited option to remove the minimap in Hardcore mode," explains DICE.In Rush mode the Gunship will only respawn after the attackers have destroyed an M-COM in Rush. Also, "the gunship will always have a 60 second spawn delay in Conquest no matter the server spawn delay setting".
Other tweaks related to sever stability, knife takedowns, the Kill List and various other glitches and exploits will also be applied.
DICE warns of server downtime between 9:00-9:30am UK time, during which you will not be able to play on PC or consoles, and the update can take around six hours to come into effect on consoles, and up to 24 hours on PC.

Earlier this week we heard murmurs that Microsoft would be phasing out their confusing Points currency on the Xbox 360 with the advent of Windows 8, when in actuality it's only making things more confusing by splitting the payment structures between Windows 8 machines and the Xbox 360.As it turns out, Microsoft Points are only being phased out on Windows 8 machines. "Microsoft Points continue to be the currency for purchasing content for the Xbox 360 console," a Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge.So if customers wish to purchase Xbox Video or Xbox Music content with local currency, they'll have to do so on a Windows 8 machine, rather than the Xbox 360 dashboard.That being said, "current Xbox Live customers may also make a purchase using points" on a Windows 8 machine if they'd like, a spokesperson confirmed, so at least your backlog of MS Points will be valid there.
