Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 3: Broken Steel will available on 5th May.
Exclusive to Xbox 360 and PC, this third batch of downloadable content raises the level cap from 20 to 30 and opens play past the conclusion of the main campaign.
On top of that are lots more toys to collect, Tesla Cannons to frazzle baddies with, new super mutants to run away from and much, much more.
And we cobbled all that together in a freshly-published Broken Steel preview after Bethesda obligingly whisked us through the content earlier this week.
Broken Steel - like The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage before it - costs 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) on Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live.

New special offer from Play Asia:
As the era of the nation-state draws toward its end, the world of warfare is evolving rapidly. New challenges demand new solutions, sometimes with unpredictable outcomes.
For many years, state-sponsored militaries have struggled to maintain and modernize their forces. Increasing budget restrictions and difficulties in recruiting skilled personnel have led many countries to seek other solutions.
More and more nations now rely increasingly on Private Military Companies (PMC) – elite mercenary groups staffed with equally elite personnel - to support their field operations.
In time, these private military corps diversified their field of operations, from mere securing land objectives to motorized assault and counter-intelligence. It was not long before a few of these PMC secured enough resources to require being involved complete support air and sea-bound operations.
Chosen as this week's special, the region free Asian version of Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. is available at an unbeatable special price of US$ 24.90 only.

The game is set for release (in Japan) on April 29th. The XBLA version amounts to around 230MB and will cost 1200 MS points. Still no follow up on the release of a twinstick peripheral but there will be a selection of gamer icons and a premium theme on the way in the interim. The official site is also hosting an online questionnaire to gauge the size of the current fanbase and what they may want in future games.

Microsoft's plans for the Far East have always been something of a murky science, pea soup made somewhat more clear following the company's recent media conference in Japan. Siliconera reports that the Xbox 360 will play host to a number of high-profile titles in Japan in the months ahead, 31 in all, including Magna Carta 2 in August and tri-Ace RPG End of Eternity (sadly not based on the Isaac Asimov novel) in the winter.
Japanese gamers will finally get to suit up as a decidedly not dead yet Commander Shepard when the original Mass Effect finally graces Japanese store shelves on May 21, while players will have to wait until later this summer to cure the locust plague in Gears of War 2.
Another 14 XBLA titles were confirmed at the event, including the previously announced remake of mech shooter Virtual On Oratorio Tangram, which will arrive in Japan on April 29. Other notable upcoming downloads include Mega Man 9 in June, Space Invaders Extreme this spring and The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match sometime in 2010. And what of Square Enix, which plans fill Japanese XBLA appetites this year with puzzler Yosumin Live, Project Cube and the wonderfully titled 0 Day Attack on Earth (pictured)? Well, we have those trailers for you after the break.

Once again proving itself the shmup console of choice, the Xbox 360 is getting a port of Cave developed arcade shooting game Mushihime-sama Futuari. Yes, that game.
Several Cave shoot 'em ups have already been ported over to the Xbox 360 with varying degrees of success. Take the 5pb ported DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black EXTRA, which is so buggy that sales of the game had to be halted.
Good news: Cave will be porting Mushihime-sama Futari itself. The Xbox 360 version is currently 20 to 30 percent finished and will be built upon the arcade's 1.5Ver. According to Cave, the game's graphics will get an upgrade.
Cave is trying to balance the game for the Xbox 360 console, however. It will include a "Normal" mode for beginner players as well as an "Abnormal" mode for more experience, abnormal players. There are plans for downloadable content as well as online ranking and online score attack.
The release date and pricing for Mushihime-sama Futari are still forthcoming.

Three new multiplayer modes are making their way to Halo Wars courtesy of the Strategic Options Game Add-On Pack.
Available "in the coming weeks", the Strategic Options pack adds several new ways to experience Halo from a top down perspective online against your friends. In Keepaway Mode, players struggle to capture a free-roaming Forerunner Sentinel in what is effectively the Halo Wars version of capture the flag. Tug of War mode is all about having more units, buildings, and resources than the other player. Finally, Reinforcement Mode has both sides receiving wave after wave of new units, adjusting their strategies to cope with the ever increasing forces on both sides.
The add-on also adds 100 points worth of multiplayer achievements for completing various objectives in the new game types:
· "One and Done" (30 points): Score the winning point in a game of Keepaway against Legendary A.I.'s
· "Pull Hard, Pull Deep" (20 points): Win and never trail in a Tug of War game
· "Freak on a Streak" (20 points): Gain at least 15 population from a single wave in a Reinforcement game
· "Living Loving Bug" (30 points): Obtain a Scarab during a Reinforcement game
Look for the Strategic options Game Add-On Pack to arrive sometime soon for some sort of price.

Bethesda has announced a new entrant into the Fallout franchise, subtitled New Vegas. Details are slim at the moment as Bethesda is remaining tight-lipped, but a few bits of information were provided. The game is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment and is due out sometime in 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The game is not a direct sequel to Fallout 3, though it is an RPG and Bethesda has said that you can expect the "same type of game," despite the fact that a different developer is working on it.
Bethesda did not go into specifics on gameplay or what engine would be used, but a spokesperson did mention that you can "make educated guesses" on those matters. While we're in the guessing mood, we're guessing the game will be set in a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. IGN has been told we can expect a full reveal when Obsidian is ready to show it.
Obsidian Entertainment was founded by members of Interplay's Black Isle Studio -- the group that worked on the original Fallout games -- after it was disbanded. Bethesda has said it approached Obsidian regarding this project and an agreement was quickly reached.

The port house behind the Xbox Live Arcade releases of Banjo-Kazooie and it sequel says it'd "love" to bring more of Rare's N64 classics to the 360 download service.
Speaking to fan site MundoRare, 4J Studios co-founder Paddy Burns said he's got his "fingers crossed" that more Rare port jobs are offered to the stuidio.
"We'd love to keep working with MGS and Rare so I guess just keep your fingers crossed along with us," he said. Killer Instinct, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark and Blast Corps then, please.
Elsewhere in the chat Burns assures fans that the long-discussed Stop 'n' Swop feature reincorporated into Banjo-Tooie XBLA (which has been dated for April 29) will be the "original plan" for the canned '64 feature.
"The Stop 'n' Swop legend is a monster amongst fans of the series; so, with that in mind, we hope people will enjoy and appreciate what has been done", he said.
"We have implemented, under MGS and Rare guidance, the gameplay that completes the SnS journey; it is, as much as anyone can say, the 'original plan', and everyone involved thinks it's cool.
"It's certainly more than a reward system. Bearing in mind we cannot create new areas, gameplay or content, it wasn't trivial to implement either.
"It does mean that XBLA Tooie is different to the N64 version, for those who know the original game, we couldn't give you the 'original plan' if the eggs and ice key remained from the N64! If you don't have Banjo-Kazooie you'll never see them, just like you wouldn't have 10 years ago..."
Banjo-Tooie will cost you 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20).

If a few questionable screengrabs and a handful of ESRB ratings weren't evidence enough for you to believe in the XBLA-bound "Sega Vintage Collection Vol. 2," we now present you with exhibit C -- MyGamerCard recently dug up achievements for Altered Beast, Comix Zone and Shinobi, three of the titles belonging to the heretofore unannounced collection. Sadly, the other three titles which are rumored to accompany them, Sonic 3, GunStar Heroes and Phantasy Star II, are still unspoken for in the Cheevo department. We'll let you know when we hear more!

Street Fighter IV's Championship Mode has finally been dated, with the free upgrade coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next week.
The pack heavily bolsters the online content, introducing tournaments and a replay function. Tournament Mode builds upon the Battle Point system currently employed by the game, with players acquiring Grad Points to enter higher tier tournaments, wherein huge amounts of Championship Points are up for grabs. Capcom's Unity blog has the full rundown on what the new Tournament Mode brings to the game.
Most exciting is the introduction of a replay function, allowing players to analyze their opponents moves and spectate in tournaments. The PlayStation Network version will enable players to rate videos, applying tags in an approach that will be familiar YouTube users, while the Xbox 360 version allows players to download videos any study input commands.
Street Fighter IV launched this February, netting a 9.5 in our review – and having played the game religiously since its release, we wish we'd rated it higher. The Championship Mode upgrade goes live on April 24.

Now that former Xbox exec Peter Moore is well established at EA Sports, he's probably going to be willing to spill the beans on the oft-rumored motion controller planned for the Xbox 360. Right? Well...
Moore, when asked by GameTrailers TV's Geoff Keighley about his knowledge of Microsoft's plans—plans that may have formed during Moore's tenure at the company—he's pretty cagey. While Peter likely has full knowledge of the Xbox 360 maker's motion control goals, he's not going to burn any bridges.
"I think that, knowing Microsoft in particular, obviously, is that they are constantly thinking three to five years ahead of where consumer behavior is going to be," Moore says, carefully dodging anything resembling confirmation. He wagers that the Microsoft of right now is thinking about "how do people want to interact with their games and probably thinking about now how do we replicate motion control, but how we go one step further."
And what about those rumors of EA Sports' involvement in a mixed martial arts game, Peter? Feel like confirming that on cable?
"We keep a very close eye on it, but nothing to announce right now," Moore said, lauding THQ and Crave's work on current and past UFC games.
While motion controller on the Xbox 360 front has slowed, particularly as Microsoft's console sales increase, it's hard to imagine the chatter from years past was based on nothing but speculation. Especially when we consider the publicly anonymous sources of those rumors.
The more suspicious of us might think that some of that chatter was planted, to see how the Xbox 360 public would react to such an idea.

A post on the Left 4 Dead blog shares details of the Survival Pack downloadable content due out next week. It will be free, and available for both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game. "Our goals for Survival Mode are to deliver a mode of play distinct from Campaign or Versus, have games that regularly last under ten minutes, and emphasize competition with team play through leaderboards. Survival Mode draws on the planning and communication aspects of a successful Finale or Crescendo event, while taking it to another level. It rapidly hits a fever pitch that only a well coordinated team will be able to successfully survive. ... Given the extreme pace of Survival Mode, the number of zombies killed in a single round often outnumbers an entire campaign."

When Microsoft announced they were extending their warranty for Xbox 360s that received a E74 error, I was curious how different the code was from the red ring of death. Not very, it turns out.
I contacted the company earlier this week to find out what a E74 code meant and whether it was possibly just a rebranded red ring of death.
Here's what they told me:
Once a repair is made and a person gets their 360 back, does the clock reset for the extended warranty in regards to this error?
No. The same terms of the three-year warranty associated with three flashing red lights error apply.
We reported in 2007 that Microsoft was reworking their 360s to no longer give the red rings to report certain errors because people were sometimes misconstruing them. Is that the case?
No, that is not accurate.
Can a 360 still get a red ring error, aka the red ring of death?
Yes, the three flashing red lights error message can still be present on the console in the event of certain general hardware failures. We have made improvements to the console that will reduce the likelihood of an occurrence of this issue. The majority of customers who own Xbox 360 consoles have a terrific experience from their first day, and continue to, day in and day out.
Is the e74 code a replacement for the red ring of death?
No. The E74 error message can indicate the general hardware failure that is associated with three flashing red lights error on the console. This issue remains relatively narrow in scope and a very small percentage of our customers have contacted us about this issue. Again, we have already made improvements to the console that will reduce the likelihood of an occurrence of this issue.
But wait. What's with the contradiction? How can an E74 error message apply to the same hardware failures that are associated with a red ring if they're not the same?
"In some cases there is no difference. As we said, the E74 error message and three flashing red lights can in some cases indicate the same general hardware failure. However, it is not the same failure mode in all cases and there is no single root cause for these malfunctions."
So it sounds like there is an overlap between hardware issues that cause the E74 message and hardware issues that cause the red ring of death.

If the prospect of not having to fork over extra Zenny for Street Fighter IV's upcoming Championship mode isn't enough to put the sonic in your boom, Capcom has released additional details behind the impending DLC's April 24 release.
In addition to previously revealed features, Capcom notes that tournaments will be seeded randomly based on player skill, with single elimination bouts and double-blind character selection helping to keep fights as fair as possible. In addition, Capcom promises that players who disconnect at the first sign of trouble will be knocked down in their tournament rank. Even better, quitters will have their disconnect percentage put on display for all to mock when the free download hyper uppercuts the PS3 and Xbox 360 later this month.

You know how it is -- we're frightened and appalled by the thought of unmanned killing machines, but if they must exist we really, really want to play with one. The US Army's latest nightmarish deathcopter / awesome tech toy is a little something called the Autonomous Rotorcraft Sniper System (ARSS). Essentially a .338-caliber rifle mounted to the bottom of a Vigilante unmanned helicopter (though it could eventually be made to work on a Predator drone, for instance), this bad boy utilizes a modified Xbox 360 game contoller for targeting while the vehicle itself stays put courtesy of its autopilot functions. Never again will your favorite sniper need to leave the comfort of his barracks! Airborne testing begins in July, with autonomy to come soon after that and a possible robot apocalypse estimated for Q4 2011.

Gamesfives football tournament kicks off at Barnet Powerleague, North London on Friday, June 12th
Teams from all over the industry will battle it out once again in this summer’s games industry five-a-side tournament.
The Xbox 360 Gamesfives will take place at Barnet Powerleague in North London on Friday June 12th.
Entry to the tournament is free, plus there is a free bar and a variety of prizes, medals and trophies on offer for the best teams and players.
“Xbox are very excited about hosting another adrenaline pumped industry five-a-side tournament with MCV,” commented Microsoft’s Sam Leigh.
“Hopefully this year will be as competitive as ever and another great day out for everyone to enjoy.”
The tournament is open to all companies across the industry, including retailers, distributors, media and publishers.
There are strict rules, however, to ensure that teams only use players from within their own organisations.
The event lasts all day and is heavily publicised in MCV through to the tournament and beyond. Teams from across the industry can register now by pointing their browser at www.gamesfives360.co.uk.
“The Xbox team do a fantastic job with this event every year. It is a brilliant way of bringing a sense of community to the industry, but with a competitive edge,” commented MCV publisher and Intent Media managing director Stuart Dinsey.
Prizes include a £1,500 charity donation for the winning team, plus an Xbox 360 for each team member.

Microsoft has responded early to this month's NPD sales results, revealing that the Xbox 360 sold 330,000 units in March of 2009, up 25 per cent from the same period in 2008.
Additionally, Microsoft revealed that the number of unique users purchasing content through Xbox Live rose 128 per cent over last year's numbers, which Microsoft credits to the success of game add-ons that include Fallout 3 expansion The Pitt and feature film The Dark Knight.
"Xbox 360 was the only game console to show year-over-year growth in the US as the USD 199 starting price continued to resonate with consumers looking to get more entertainment value for their money," Microsoft said in a statement.
"Retail sales of Xbox 360 systems hit 330,000 units in March, climbing 25 percent from a year earlier, in contrast to double-digit declines posted by Wii and PlayStation 3. March was the sixth month in a row that Xbox 360 has seen year-over-year sales growth."
Microsoft also revealed, prior to the NPD's official announcement, that three of the top ten console games in March were Xbox 360 titles, including Resident Evil 5, Halo Wars and MLB 2K09.

Q Entertainment has said that Xbox 360 exclusive Ninety-Nine Nights 2 will be released in Japan before the end of the year.
The hackandslash sequel is now around 50 per cent complete, according to Famitsu magazine (read by 1UP). Details are still scare, although we know that Microsoft Games Studios' Japanese outfit Feelplus will develop, and presumably follow the same formula as before.
That involved hordes of dark-fantasy goblin baddies being mowed down by the outrageous attacks of heroes wrapped in revealing costumes, brandishing serious magical firepower. It's a bit like Dynasty Warriors but with more fantasy.
We hope publisher Microsoft reveals more about NNN2 at E3 this summer.
Ninety-Nine Nights led a second wave of Xbox 360 releases in late 2006, and turned out to be good but not great.
