Perhaps not realizing that the real achievement is the fun you have along the way, posters on Bethesda's forums are in an uproar about not being credited for the Achievements they earned in the newly released Fallout 3 DLC, Broken Steel.
If you experience the same problem, take heart! Bethesda tells us, "The Xbox Live servers don't seem to be fully synched yet with the additional Achievements. Microsoft is looking into it right now so that the Achievements folks have gotten will show up properly on Live (the game awards them, they just aren't showing up right on Live for some reason). People won't lose any Achievements."
Patience, friends. Sounds like this will be resolved soon.

"We're hard at work on Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 and look forward to delivering that in June."

Microsoft's rumored motion-sensing peripheral for the Xbox 360 may have actually been on display to the public under a different banner, Ars Technica suggests. The meat of this speculation (tofu compact for vegans) is that the site actually saw the same technology at the Consumer Electronics Show last year, and Microsoft is allegedly buying 3DV, the company responsible.
Back at CES 2008, 3DV apparently had a small web-cam that could detect movement and interaction, telling Ars at the time that it planned to release the item in the "sub-$100 area." Ars states that the technology was already "mature" at the time and was like having a "Microsoft Surface -- without the Surface." It's all still "rumor and speculation," but it seems Ars has found some missing puzzle pieces between the couch cushions.

Activision just sent word that the multiplayer map DLC for Call of Duty: World at War (otherwise known as Map Pack 1) has surpassed a combined worldwide download milestone of 2 million units across the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Needless to say, Activision seems pleased ... and why wouldn't it be? Map Pack 1 already broke Xbox Live sales records, selling one million units in its first week of availability.
Treyarch studio head, Mark Lamia, took a moment to comment on the "milestone," thanking the loyal community of World at War players for supporting the game -- and presumably, for not being completely tired of World War II themed shooters. Lamia also reminds gamers the World at War team expects to deliver new DLC sometime this June.

Eidos Montreal will reveal a second project on May 11, according to a page from the latest issue of EDGE Magazine. The studio is currently working on Deus Ex 3, the next installment of the first-person hybrid franchise started by Ion Storm in 2000.
Some are speculating that a new version of Thief, the stealth franchise originally put together by the now defunct Looking Glass Studios, could be what's revealed. This is fueled in part by a story from last month where Eidos Montreal put up a post using a Thief-like font. The announcement date is also confirmed on Eidos Montreal's Twitter account.
As of publish we've yet to get any kind of official response to questions regarding the announcement. We'll update with anything else that's made available before May 11.

The King of Fighters XII attempts to replicate the feel of an arcade at home. The online setup has rooms where users can watch fights and discuss how Goro walked right into one of Ryo’s fireballs.
Reliable and leaky retailer Rakuten also explains the King of Fighters XII will also have community features like clan support. Clan members can post messages on a common bulletin board and issue clan challenges.
The other interesting tidbit is the King of Fighters XII more than 22 characters. That’s at least two more than the arcade version. So many fighters are sitting on the bench too. Which characters will SNK pick?

The next Call of Duty game (after Modern Warfare 2) could take place in 1960s Vietnam, if the latest round of internet rumours are true.
According to a "reliable" source wagging his or her mouth to That Videogame Blog, Activision has begun licensing music from the Vietnam War era, as well as Cuban, Soviet Union and African tunes, which could be a bit of a giveaway.
The site claims that Call of Duty: World at War's senior producer Noah Heller is involved with the project, so it looks like Treyarch is once again at the helm.
It's not the most reliable source in the world, but the news is backed up slightly by Treyarch's statement that it's "glad we were able to end [WWII]" in World at War.
We'll let you know if Activision has anything to say.

Engadget is carrying a rumor from "someone who purports to be in the know" about Microsoft's really big E3 reveal. It's an all-body motion-sensor controller which picks up large movements (kicking, swinging etc.) as well as smaller hand movements like pinching. If such a thing were to work (Engadget's tipster has "no idea" how it works), it could mark the end of controllers in certain games. (Certainly annoying custom controllers in trivia games, for example.)
Obviously, Sony and Microsoft are still hopping mad about being wrong-footed by Nintendo with the Wii Remote, and have been looking for a way to 'disrupt' the competition via game-control ever since.
For non-hardcore games, this would seem to be a way forward, breaking through the much-daunted complex-controller barrier that keeps certain demographics wary of Xbox 360; while they are perfectly happy to jape around in front of a Wii. I think this sounds pretty damn cool.

Atomic Games CEO Peter Tamte has defended the studio's military simulation Six Days in Fallujah, saying that the game is culturally relevant while questioning whether videogames can reach the same artistic merits as other mediums.
During a keynote address at the Triangle Game Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina on April 30, Tamte implied that Six Days in Fallujah - a realistic military simulation centered around an infamously bloody late 2004 US Military offensive against Iraqi insurgents - is a pioneering title that will raise the artistic level of videogames.
"Every form of media has grown by producing content about current events, content that's powerful because it's relevant," said Tamte, as reported by The News & Observer. "Movies, music and TV have helped people make sense of the complex issues of our times."
"Are we really just high-tech toymakers, or are we media companies capable of producing content that is as relevant as movies, music and television?" he continued.
Tamte also responded to media backlash against the possibly insensitive nature of the game, saying that "After they got back from Fallujah, these Marines asked us to tell their story. They asked us to tell their story through the most relevant medium of the day - a medium they use the most - and that is the videogame."
"Six Days in Fallujah is not about whether the US and its allies should have invaded Iraq," Tamte continued. "It's an opportunity for the world to experience the true stories of the people who fought in one of the world's largest urban battles of the past half-century."
Six Days in Fallujah was first unveiled at a press event held in early April by Konami, the game's then-publisher. Later that month, Konami pulled out of its publishing agreement after a significant amount of public backlash, most if it by families of soldiers who died during the conflict. Tamte's keynote was given mere days after Konami's cancellation announcement.
The fate of the game remains uncertain, with Tamte telling GamesIndustry.biz that "Development of the game had been progressing very well and on schedule. We would very much like the opportunity to complete the game."

All signs are pointing to an Xbox Live Arcade version of Treasure classic Gunstar Heroes. The game got rated and an achievement list leaked. What about the PS3?
Chances seem promising for a PlayStation 3 version of Gunstar Heroes too. PEGI, Europe’s ESRB, rated Gunstar Heroes as a PlayStation Network game as well as an Xbox Live Arcade game.
Gunstar Heroes is a blast if you like Contra and have a friend to play with. The only enhancement a possible Xbox Live Arcade version needs is online play. Since Streets of Rage 2 had it, I can’t imagine Sega re-releasing Gunstar Heroes without online co-op.

Bethesda has released a trailer for the third -- and only maybe final -- DLC expansion for Fallout 3, Broken Steel, due out for Xbox 360 tomorrow, May 5. We strongly suggest that you don't play the video if you haven't finished the game, since, well, it spoils something big (and metal). If you've finished the game (or just don't care), by all means, play away.
The trailer provides a quick glimpse of how the add-on will continue on from an ending that was designed to be the end along with plenty of Brotherhood vs. Enclave laser-blastin' action. Oh, and that something big being generally awesome. In fact, just watching the footage will make the next 12 hours or so before it goes live (on Live) that much harder. We'll just pass the time thinking about what it'll be like to hear the level-up drum roll once again and dreaming of new, sure-to-be-fancy perks.

Ubisoft's middle-of-the-road Vin Diesel action vehicle, Wheelman, gets its first (only?) round of DLC on Xbox 360 today in the form of six new "Street Showdown" missions. Two "packs" are available: a 400 ($5) collection of five "premium" races and a free pack of ... one race. (Ah yes, the budget-friendly "1-pack.")
We know you're excited, PS3 owners, but you'll have to wait until the regularly scheduled PlayStation Store update on Thursday, May 7 to pick up the DLC equivalent of a pine tree air freshener for $4.99. Which, as it so happens, is about the price of two gallons of gas in most states. Just sayin'.
