New from Divineo UK
This is an attachment for the PulseVU 2 or PulseVU 2X which adds up to an additional 3Amps* of power for controlling multiple** LEDs. Still not enough power?? Add more Power Extenders! As long as the power supply (or supplies) can handle the power, you can keep adding Extenders to connect LEDs to the PulseVU 2 lineup.
*The amount of current that can be supplied is also limited by your power supply. Please check the rating on your PSU to make sure it can handle the amount of LEDs you plan to use.
**3Amps of 20mA LEDs, wired in parallel, equals 150 LEDs. When wired in series, you can add even more LEDs.

New from Divineo UK
This device pulses any LEDs you connect to it with the beat of the music coming from your console. It can also fade your LEDs when the console is off. This device works with up to 150 LEDs* and also works on the Xbox360's Ring-of-Light.
17 different modes allow you to set your LEDs to the VU mode, fader, dim, solid on, off, or any combination of those.
Change modes easily by using an existing button on your console, rather than opening your console each time or installing another switch. A Quick Disable feature lets you quickly turn off your LEDs and then quickly turn them back on at a later time.
*The PulseVU 2X controls up to 3Amps, or purchase a Power Extender to add an additional 3Amps of power (~150 more LEDs).

Activision has popped a Monsters vs Aliens demo on Xbox Live, weighing in at 620MB.
The game's based on the DreamWorks film of the same name, which has people like Seth Rogen, Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie and even Kiefer Sutherland voicing characters.
The plot follows a little girl whose life goes wonky after she's hit by a meteorite, turned into a giant monster and whisked off to a secret government facility. It's here she meets her quirky new friends: The Missing Link, a half-ape, half-fish thing; the gelatinous and ravenous B.O.B; Ginormica, the 49-foot, 11-inch woman; and Insectosauras, the 350-foot grub.
The videogame, developed by Beenox, involves choosing the right hero for the right situation as the battle against the invading robots unfolds.
The film launches on 3rd April here, and Activision plans to release the game in March.

Capcom has announced that it has shipped two million copies of Street Fighter IV since its release in Japan on February 12, as well as in North America and Europe on February 17 and 20.
According to the publisher, the sales results of the 2D cross-platform fighter signifies a success in its strategy to revitalise the brand following the franchise's 20th anniversary, which it's also hoped will receive a boost by the upcoming release of the Street Figther: Legend of Chun-Li movie on February 28.
"The movie was developed in order to help rebuild the Street Fighter brand by drawing in new fans and reinvigorating fans of old," the company explained in a statement.
"In fruition of its policies, Capcom has achieved the feat of breaking the two million copy mark despite the economic crisis with this first iteration of the Street Fighter series in 11 years."
The company concluded: "At Capcom, not only do we strive to make entertaining and profitable games, but we are always endeavouring to lucratively develop our popular franchises in other media in ways that will please the fans."

Many of Liberty City's proxy residents who'd returned to the crime-riddled metropolis following the release of The Lost and Damned were recently perplexed by what appeared to be some random acts of censorship that tagged along with the expansion -- certain European versions of GTA IV suddenly lacked the game's most NSFW elements. Namely, bullet infused corpses no longer spilled excessive pools of blood, and when in the company of a paid escort, camera control was stripped of the player while said escort performed the services she was contracted to execute. (Hooker sex, people. We mean hooker sex.)
This censorship seemed an odd addendum to an expansion which unapologetically brought us a faceful of prong -- as it turns out, the censorship was indeed accidental. At least, that's the claim of Rockstar, who attribute the "error" to the game's latest title update. Why the changes were incorporated into the update in the first place, or why only certain copies of the game were affected is still a mystery, but Rockstar is hoping to release a quick de-censoring patch "within the next few hours."

Denial-of-service attacks are nothing new on the web, but the BBC reports that it's becoming an increasingly large problem on Xbox Live, where hackers are using the attacks to kick other players out of games. Not to get too technical, but the DoS attack basically works like this: Angry data takes your pipes from fat to skinny, so the pictures of aliens getting shot and the sounds of guns firing at said aliens can't get through them. Confusing for the common man, we know, but that's why we went to blogging college.
Microsoft says that it's investigating the attacks. Have any of you been victims?

Microsoft has announced that it is working on a solution to fix the expired email problem that's been preventing users from renewing their Gold membership to Xbox Live.
In a statement issued by Major Nelson, in response to the story broken by GamesIndustry.biz earlier this week, it has emerged that a gamer's achievement points can be recovered from an expired account, as long as they still remain on the Xbox 360's hard drive.
Previous advice from Microsoft customer support had recommended that the only solution to the issue was for a user to start afresh with a new Gamertag, explaining that achievements and friends lists weren't transferable.
But now the corporation is working on a solution that will enable users to link their Gamertags to new Windows Live IDs should their existing one become dormant through inactivity, meaning users will therefore not need to set up a new Gamertag.
The full message from Major Nelson is reprinted below:
"Windows Live IDs and Gamertags
I want to take a moment to talk about Windows LIVE IDs and Gamertags. Recently, there have been a few stories about Gamertags becoming unrecoverable. I want to set the record straight, and let you know what is going on, and what we're doing about it.
What happens:
In the rare case that you DO NOT sign in to Xbox.com or another website that uses Windows LIVE ID (like Hotmail) it is possible that your Windows LIVE ID expires (goes dormant.)
An Xbox LIVE Gamertag is unrecoverable from the system only when the associated Windows Live ID has become dormant and the Gamertag has been deleted from all Xbox 360 consoles.
Members with dormant Windows Live IDs can continue to enjoy the benefits of their Xbox LIVE Gamertags on their Xbox 360 consoles, including earning Achievements; however, they will not be able to use their expired Windows Live IDs for activities such as account management on Xbox.com.
It is important to note that an Xbox LIVE Gamertag is unrecoverable from the system only when the associated Windows Live ID has become dormant and the Gamertag has been deleted from all Xbox 360 consoles.
What you can do to prevent having any problems:
We recommend that people log into their Windows Live ID on Xbox.com or Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web at least once every four months.
What we're doing:
We are actively working on an update that will allow you to link your Gamertag to a new Windows Live ID if one becomes dormant.
If anyone should have an issue regarding their Xbox 360 or Xbox LIVE account should visit xbox.com/support so we can assist you."

February 20th, 2009, 21:20 Posted By: wraggster
A 16-year-old boy who stabbed another teenager to death in a row over a borrowed computer games console has been jailed for life.
Shane Boyd, who had been the subject of an Asbo for violent behaviour from the age of 12, wanted revenge after discovering that Conor Black, also 16, had borrowed an Xbox computer games console and not returned it.
Boyd sought out Black outside a house party in August last year, before hitting him over the head with a can of beer and stabbing him in the back with a kitchen knife.
As the teenager lay dying Boyd paraded around the street boasting: “I’m the best — I’m the man.”
Judge Goldstone told him: “Your attack on Conor was truly wicked and shows you in your true colour as a coward.
“You gloated and boasted to anyone who you thought would have been impressed by what you had done. How often is it said that a bully has all the hallmarks of a coward, and the reverse is true too.”
When he was just 12 years old, Boyd had been made the subject of an Asbo banning him from inciting or encouraging or using violence or threatening behaviour in public places.
The court heard that he had breached this order on three separate occasions before the stabbing on August 15 last year.
The judge said: “In truth you thought no more of having that knife in your possession than you would a wallet or house key. Carrying a knife is no way to resolve a minor dispute about a Playstation [sic]. You do not know or show any respect for authority.
“Will young people like you never realise that the public and the courts will not tolerate those who carry knives with no thought of the consequences?”
Conor Black, who was taking a college course in joinery, was described as a young man of “good character and a likeable person”. After being stabbed outside the party in Harphurhey, he had managed to run away before collapsing. He died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.
After being arrested Boyd told police: “Everything was just an accident — I didn’t mean to harm him.”
He denied murder, and was convicted after a trial last month. The court also heard that Boyd’s cousin, John, intimidated witnesses and made death threats against those who saw the incident.
John Boyd, 21, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice, and was jailed for three years.
Conor’s aunt, Janice Black, said: “All the hopes and dreams of a family were crushed when Conor’s life was stolen in that terrible, violent way.”
Detective Chief Inspector Serena Kennedy said: “This terrible case shows the devastating impact that knives can have. One boy’s family is grieving the loss of his life, and today the defendant, himself a boy, will start spending his life in prison.”
