Rare has told Eurogamer that Banjo-Tooie will cost 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40) when it's released for Xbox Live Arcade on 29th April.
The date was confirmed yesterday but the price remained unknown. We expected the inflated price point, however, as previous retro-revamp Banjo-Kazooie cost the same.
But that trip down memory lane ended in tears, as camera and control issues sullied our rose-tinted view of a game simply not worth that much of today's money. That's not to say Banjo-Tooie will repeat the same errors, of course.

Netflix has told us that its streaming service on game consoles is exclusive to Xbox 360 for the time being, although when asked about its future plans the company didn't rule out the possibility of taking its movie and TV offerings to other platforms.
"Netflix is always looking for ways to grow the service. For now, Netflix streaming on game consoles is exclusively on the Xbox 360 - and it's a terrific hit," a spokesperson said. "More than one million Netflix members who are Xbox Gold members have watched more than 1.5 billion minutes of movies and TV episodes instantly over the internet from Netflix via their Xbox 360."
When asked about potential plans to expand its operations outside of the States, the Netflix spokesperson simply told us that "Netflix is available in the U.S. only."

Gears of War 2 executive producer Rod Fergusson has told VG247 that innovations in both games software and Microsoft services mean we've yet to see the limit of what can be achieved with Xbox 360.
Fergusson was quoted previously as saying the box had been maxed out, a comment he told us was taken out of context.
"I think there's still more it can do," the developer said, talking at GDC.
"Hardware, in some regards, always has limits, but it's the software that takes advantage of that.
"The [Unreal] engine is evolving - it evolved dramatically from Gears 1 to Gears 2 - and I think you'll see people continue to push that envelope about how they use the memory, and how they use the hard drive, and all those sort of things."

April 16th, 2009, 00:13 Posted By: wraggster
Yeah, something is definitely up in Zuneland. Not only did images of the Zune HD leak out late last week, today AdWeek says that Microsoft's auditioning three major ad agencies for the launch of a new mobile service called "Pink" -- which is the project codename for Zune software on mobile phones. No, this doesn't mean any of those Tegra-powered Zunephone rumors are coming true -- it's far more likely that Microsoft is finally gearing up to re-launch Zune as the preferred media software and service for Windows Mobile, a plan Steve Ballmer's been hinting at for ages now. Remember, Microsoft has to keep its large stable of Windows Mobile hardware manufacturers happy, and launching a hyped new phone of its own with a Zune-based OS would basically be perceived as stabbing a billion-dollar business in the back -- not something you want to do when most of your partners are also deep in the Android game. On the other hand, you don't audition three huge ad agencies just to launch a Zune app on busted ol' WinMo, so there could be something big cooking -- if you forced us to throw caution to the wind and just guess, what we'd want to see is that $500m Danger acquisition pay off in the form of a reskinned consumer-oriented edition of Windows Mobile that integrates Zune services, running not only on a touchscreen Zune HD, but a variety of phones from third-party partners. Wishful thinking? You bet -- probably even crazy thinking -- but it would certainly shake things up, and that's never a bad thing. We'll see how it plays out -- care to share your dream Zune strategy in the meantime?

How much Zune can you handle? It's a question few have asked, and even fewer have answered. Microsoft seems to be unafraid of such conundrums, however, and it has now fearlessly introduced a new collection of Zune Originals designs in a day filled with Zune rumors. Each of the new designs, appropriately, feature a spring theme from artists APAK, Carolina Melis, and Linn Olofsdotter, and include options like a "tree-like design," a "tapestry-like design," and a giant Queen Bee for those that really want to stand out. Best of all, as with other similar Zune Originals collections, each of these are available at no extra charge, and are ready to be etched into your future Zune right now.

While we broke the news of the ZuneHD to the world as we did the original, we have no way to verify the authenticity of this new image originating at Windows Mobile Power User and now trotting itself around the Intersphere fueled by the adrenaline of fanboy fantasies. We've been skeptically going over it pixel-by-pixel (what is that on the back? A camera, a screw-hole?) as this is the notorious period that always follows a product leak when dubious PhotoShops and fanart begins flooding our tips box. Fortunately, Zunited's sources have stepped up with an assertion that the pic is in fact an authentic ZuneHD. So let's turn an eye to the specs, the glorious, almost absurdly high-end specs that accompany the picture. Zunited's sources won't touch these and we're keeping them at arm's length for now under the it's too-good-to-be-true heading.

"Tegra is Nvidia's 1st foray into the mobile computing realm. Nvidia is the company that makes the awesome video cards for your desktops and laptops. Most higher end machines use some type of powerful GPU made by ether Nvidia or ATI. For instance, my Gateway FX laptop uses a GeForce 8800 GTS & my desktop uses a 9800 GTX. Why are GPU’s good for computing? Once again take a look at the laptop. In most laptops the CPU does the heavy lifting for the GPU also, this is called "integrated graphics". In the Gateway FX, a GPU handles the task of blasting pixels to the screen, allowing the CPU focus on more important stuff, like processing and cruching non visual data. A setup like this is called "discreet graphics"."

Microsoft's European VP for interactive entertainment, Chris Lewis, has said the battle between the PS3 and 360 in the US is over, with the company now focusing its attention on Europe.
When asked if the battle between the PS3 and the 360 was now decided in the US, Lewis said Microsoft has "done the job we need to in North America", and that the company would focus more effort on increasing the 360's lead over the PS3 in Europe.

Eidos Montreal has teased its next project on its official site, and the font delivering the message has led to speculation that the unannounced game could be Thief 4.
Eidos Montreal is currently at work on Deus Ex 3, the latest instalment in the espionage tinged first person series that's been shrouded in an appropriate level of mystery, with few details having made it beyond the studio walls.
A post on the developer's official site says the studio's next project will be revealed soon, employing a font familiar to fans of the Thief series. Scant details indeed, but enough to stir forums into a speculating frenzy.
The Thief games are held in high regard, with the last instalment, Deadly Shadows, receiving an 8.8 upon review back in 2004.
No official word has come from Eidos on what the Montreal studios' next game is – but expect more concrete details soon.

Still playing Halo Wars while you wait for Halo: STD? Then here are a few fixes that'll be released soon to make your online experience a little more wholesome.
No date's been set for the title update but the Halo Wars website does tell us that matchmaking bugs will be tweaked and one new feature, "that fans have been asking for", will also make the update. Guesses below? A first-person viewpoint?
The update also re-balances things such as the Prophet of Regret's landspeed. To be honest we didn't notice he was a bit quicker. The Flaming Warthog and Honor Guard Wraith will also be made available for multiplayer skirmishes. Does that tick all your boxes?
More info over on the official Halo Wars website.

Pretty interesting news about Microsoft advertising for coders to work on a 'mobile Halo project', eh? Our initial thoughts, other than this sounding ideal for the iPhone, is that Halo mobile will probably be for Windows Mobile.
But Safety's Off has another possible avenue for this hot Microsoft pocket game. The Zune system is supposed to be leaving its native US shores soon, though Microsoft has undermined its own PR campaign by announcing the ZuneHD player right alongside.
Details on this new device are still pretty sketchy, but it's sounding as though it'll be compatible with Microsoft's software development kit, XNA.
To those of us who know nothing of coding, this essentially gives the ZuneHD the potential to play Xbox Live games, and with the rumour of a touchscreen also circulating, this could be the Xbox Portable Bill's boys have been so avidly denying.
It would seem like a wasted opportunity for Microsoft to release a new PMP that doesn't give the iPhone at least a bit of competition, so fingers crossed the ZuneHD will live up to the rumours

Microsoft took a lot of flak last year for the way they handled some gay-related stuff on Xbox Live. And rightly so. But time heals all wounds, and Microsoft are trying to make amends.
In the latest "Major Nelson" podcast, Microsoft's Larry Hryb and Xbox Live cop-on-the-beat Stephen Toulouse reveal that the company have been in talks with the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), with the aim of sorting the whole mess out. And, it seems, the talks have been going just swimmingly.
Toulouse says:
I can't talk about what we discussed specifically except to say that we provided them with a lot of information about what we do today, why we do what we do and how we do it. And then we asked them the question, 'How can we do this better?' And we have some ideas. Here are some ideas. That dialog was super, super helpful. I think it was a great engagement. Justin and Jeffrey who came out from GLAAD really appreciated the effort that we're putting into it - and had great ideas, like they brought up some stuff we hadn't thought of.
