PCSXR 360 v2.0.8 is released. PCSXR 360 is a sony playstation 1 (PSX) emulator using libxenon, based on lastest PCSX-Reloaded source code available.
PCSXR 360 v2.0.8 Changelog:
* Pcsxr-360-2.0.8
Since some people still don't know what is this, here's a brief explanation ^^
Pcsxr-360 is a emulator that allows you to play psx games(iso, bin/cue, img format) on a rgh/hacked xbox360. You can launch the emulator using the freestyle dash. If you have some troubles to use Pcsxr-360 with more recent versions of freestyle, try use a older version.
The emulator works very well for me using freestyle 3.0B Revision 483.
The emulator was ported by ced2911 that made the first stable release using the last pcsx reloaded soure code. A first unnoficial version was made by dreamboy. Later versions was made by cmkn1983.
So here's the most recent version guys.
* Pcsxr-360-2.0.8 features:
- Reverted back to the old spu source code in the new cdr build. Overall emulation stability is better than sound effects :P
- Fixed some thread gpu problems in games that have some fmv/cg errors when the thread gpu is on( tested Alladin, Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross) as well some games with glitches( Moto Racer).
- Auto Region detection is always set to on. This will fix most sound problems on PAL games.
- Added ced2911 virtual memory for better speed on games that don't work with dynarec( lode runner, tekken2, brigandine, syphon filter 1). Treasure of the deep is the only game i tested that doesn't work with the virtual memory, so i made a option on game profile options to disable this feature.
- Added ced code for small/standart TVs.
- Added a better gameguide with full screen text. Finally.^^
* HOW TO MAKE A GAME GUIDE:
- Copy any text on notepad. Before save the file, remember to set the encoding to "Unicode Big Endian" format.
* HOW THE FILES MUST BE RENAMED TO MAKE THE GAME GUIDE AND GAME COVERS WORK:
- EX: "Alundra.bin" on "games" folder, "Alundra.bin.txt" on "gameguides" folder and "Alundra.bin.jpg on "covers" folder.
* Issues / Bugs:
- There some games that have slowdows when the threaded gpu is on. Try disable this option and load the game again.
- Sometimes, a kind of japanese letters with glitches, will appear in the end of the game guide text , and i don't know why but most of time it will not happen, and even if happen you can read all the game with no problems.
- Some games keeps playing the sound in the background even if you go to the osd menu. I know. This bug is pretty annoying I tried fix this problem sometime ago but don't worked.
- Cdda games have problems to load states when the virtual memory is on. Use "Disable Virtual Memory" to play cdda games.

source: phoenix.xboxunity.net ] End of January we gave you a preview of features to come for Aurora 0.5b. We've all been pretty busy, but managed to get it done. Aurora 0.5b implements the following new features:
* ConnectX
* Content search
* Quick Views
ConnectX support is back (dll not included). You can once again load your games over the network through an SMB share.
Content search: Pressing X on CoverFlow will show the Browse window, in which you can search for titles by pressing X again. The search results will be reflected on the CoverFlow view as well, until cleared in the Browse window.
Our biggest addition to this release is Quick Views. We know some of you have been asking to bring back the tabs from Freestyle 3, however since the first releases of Aurora we've had our own ideas of how to combine multiple filters and sort orders into one view, allowing for a tabs like feature, that would be fully customizable. Due to the magnitude of the changes needed for this feature, it has taken us a few releases to actually implement it, but it is here today, in 0.5b.

modrobert writes: "More Xbox 360 news! Microsoft has released kernel (system software) 2.0.17349.0 via Xbox LIVE. I couldn't find any official news for the final release, only the Beta, but it went 'live' (phun intended) today. Anyway, I updated the Xbox360Kernel wiki page here at EurAsia which also includes a download link for the update. I haven't had time to test this with xk3y yet, if you do, let me know if it works or not. Using ODE with Xbox 360 has never been a problem in the past, but with the PS3 'disc swap ordeal' fresh in mind, it can happen anytime."

Even as Microsoft buries Windows Media Center, there's a rumor that it actually does have a plan for a replacement. According to Paul Thurrott's sources, the Xbox One will gain the ability to record live TV "probably this year." That's the kind of feature Microsoft originally envisioned for its all-in-on game console, but so far does not offer. The live TV tuner that's available in Europe and coming to North America offers some trick play pause/rewind support, but full DVR functionality would be a big shift. The PlayStation 4 has a DVR for subscribers of to the Vue TV service, but that's relatively expensive and only available in a few areas so far. Proper DVR support combined with that antenna (and hopefully, cable TV access for the people who haven't cut the cord yet), could provide a more flexible option. Of course, if anyone has the technology prepared to roll out it should be Microsoft, but we'll have to wait and see when/if it comes to fruition.

With the release of Windows 10, Sony won't be the only company to offer game streaming from its consoles. Today we finally got our hands on Windows 10's Xbox One game streaming feature, which lets you bring your entire Xbox gaming experience to any PC running the new OS. And even in its early state, it looks like it will satisfy even the most demanding gamers. Microsoft made a risky bet by demoing the feature with Sunset Overdrive, a fast-paced game where you'd notice the slightest hint of slowdown. And as you can see in the video below, it's virtually indistinguishable from the native Xbox One experience while running on a Surface Pro 3.

It turns out that support for bigger external hard drives isn't all that the latest Xbox 360 preview's packing. The surprise features aren't huge by any means but they're pretty self explanatory and as of now should make using the console a bit easier, regardless. Let's dig in. First up we have a view for recent purchases followed by a password reset function, network statistics information and the ability to see your Microsoft account balance right from the system dashboard. Like I said, nothing earth-shattering on a piece-by-piece basis, but taken as a whole they offer a pretty clear explanation for why Redmond is updating the console in the first place: making it easier to go from discs to downloadable gaming. As a reminder, Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb says that if you have any other feature suggestions for the almost decade-old console be sure to hit the Xbox feedback website.

Atari Jaguar emulator for Microsoft XBOX has been updated. Changes:
- Speed improvement thanks to having optimized the texture management (thanks to freakdave, madmab and weinerschnitzel!). This makes some games run a bit faster, and improves audio quality in other games.
- Some small improvements in the GUI (for example, now when you exit from a game, the GUI goes to that game in the rom list).

April 25th, 2015, 01:17 Posted By: wraggster
In the three months leading up to March 31, 2015, Microsoft reported a 24 percent drop in revenue from its Xbox division compared with last year, attributing much of the decline to sales of an "increased mix of lower price Xbox One" consoles. Microsoft cut the price of the Xbox One from $500 to $400 (and it ditched the Kinect) in June 2014, and it's knocked off another $50 since. The corporate Xbox arm includes both the Xbox One and Xbox 360, and Microsoft did not separate sales of each console in its Q3 2015 financial report. Hardware revenue overall was down just 4 percent, boosted by Surface tablet sales, which were up 44 percent over last year to $713 million.

Microsoft has unveiled its list of upcoming Xbox One and Xbox App features being previewed in May.
Turn on your Xbox One with your smartphone. Jesus wept!
As detailed on the Xbox Wire, one of the new features will be the ability to power your Xbox One on and off via the SmartGlass app on Windows Phone and Android devices. You can find this under "Xbox One SmartGlass Beta" in the Windows store or Google Play.You'll also be able to customise your power-saving modes further in the initial setup phase. "Instant-on enables you to use the 'Xbox on' voice command and receive background updates to console, game and app updates," Microsoft community manager Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb explained. "Energy-saving mode is a low power state that requires you to press the Xbox button on your console to start up your Xbox One."The highly awaited voice messages are still in preview.As far as the Windows 10 Xbox App is concerned, the Game DVR for PC feature will be in preview. This allows players to record clips for PC games using the Windows 10's Game bar. To use this feature, press Windows + G and click "record that" to save the last 30 seconds of gameplay. Alternatively, you can press Windows + Alt + G to shortcut this feature.There's also a screenshot option wherein you can capture images by pressing Windows + Alt + PrtScr. The May Xbox One update preview is all about SmartGlass. First up, users will be able to turn their consoles on or off directly from the Xbox One SmartGlass beta apps on Windows, Windows Phone and Android. Also, the console will support Miracast screen mirroring from Windows PCs, Windows Phone 8 and some Android devices, including the Samsung S5 and Nexus 7. This allows users to display photos and videos from their smaller devices on the Xbox One screen. May also brings some Windows 10 updates: Preview members will have the option to stream live TV from the console to a PC with the Xbox app or directly to the SmartGlass app. To make this magic happen, users in Europe or Australia need an Xbox One Digital TV Tuner, while those in the US and Canada can use the Hauppauge 955Q TV Tuner. This update adds a power-saving option to the Xbox One set-up process, a new feature for US consoles in particular. Read the full preview rundown on Xbox Wire or watch the video below.

April 13th, 2015, 21:47 Posted By: wraggster
Microsoft has issued a statement about the energy consumption of the Xbox One following criticism from an environmental group.
Late last month, Noah Horowitz of the Natural Resources Defense Council posted a blog accusing the Xbox One's 'Instant On' mode – which keeps the box in a lower-power state when not in use, in order to download updates and games in the background – of being 'wasteful' and 'power-guzzling'.
Horowitz estimated that $250 million in additional energy bills was being spent in total by US owners unaware that their console remained 'on' when not in use, and that Instant On accounts for 40 per cent of all of the energy used by the machine.
Now Microsoft has retorted, posting on the Xbox Wire blog about the Xbox One's power usage.
It states that the Instant On mode was long-requested by fans, and that the mode's efficiency has been improved since the console's launch, with energy consumption reduced by a third in comparison with the feature at launch.
It also highlights the Xbox One's 'Energy-saving' mode, which uses less energy and, it's claimed, saves users between $6 (£4) and $15 (£10) in bills each month. The feature removes the console's ability to download applications in the background, as well as other abilities.
Seemingly in response to Horowitz' criticism that many consumers were unaware that their machine was using extra power by default, Microsoft also commented that new Xbox One purchasers would be given the option to choose between the Instant On and Energy-saving modes when they first boot up their machine in 'coming months'.
Players can currently select between the modes via the One's Power and Start Up settings menu.

Plenty of UK retailers are already selling the Xbox One for under £300, but now Microsoft is making this markedly lower price-tag official. Effective immediately, the console will be available from £299.99, or £30 less than before. A spokesperson for Microsoft told Eurogamer that it's a "UK-only retail promotion," which suggests the reduction could only be temporary. However, given how Microsoft handled a similar price-drop in the US, we suspect this'll be a permanent discount before too long, if it's not one already. By making this the official price, Microsoft is also encouraging retailers to drop the cost of their bundles even further. The console has few exclusives prepped for the first half of 2015 (Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider will change that this autumn) but if you've been mulling a purchase anyway, now might be a good time to take the plunge.

Xbox 360 helped pioneer downloadable games on console, but its teensy-tiny external storage limitations still reflect those early days nearly ten years later. You won't have to wait too much longer to decommission your fleet of thumb drives, because an upcoming update will allow the system to use up to 2TB of storage per external device, according to the official Major Nelson blog.
Xbox 360 is currently only able to use up to 32GB of external storage, or 64GB if you have two USB drives plugged in. That was fine back when Castle Crashers was the new hotness in 140MB, but it's gotten more than a little restrictive in the age of Xbox Live Games with Gold. Of course, it doesn't help that Microsoft's proprietary internal hard drives are pretty light on storage for the price.
