Microsoft has an exorbitant $150 controller coming this year that it hopes will make up for the Xbox One's middling gamepad, but that won't make the upcoming Rare Replay feel any more authentic when you play. The folks at Hyperkin -- makers of the Retron 5 console -- know this and set forth a challenge: mod a Nintendo 64 controller to work with Microsoft's latest game console. And they succeeded. Mostly. As you'll see in the video below, the three-pronged paddle can navigate the console's dashboard and select apps, but, since there's only one analog stick, that rules out it playing nicely with a vast majority of modern games. The wiring is a bit wonky and certain inputs trigger at random, but, from the sounds of it, the project is far from over.

Microsoft has revealed a very fetching looking Limited Edition Xbox One that will arrive alongside Forza 6 later this year.
The blue hardware has a Forza decal running along the top and down the front, as well as some special markings around the power button. The controller (which is the new one revealed at E3) is similarly decorated. Both are inspired by the Ford GT that features on Forza 6’s cover.
We can’t quite nail down the UK price yet, but as the machine has Microsoft’s new 1TB hard drive you’ll be looking at a £349 RRP at the very least. The controller will also be released separately.
Forza 6 is due for release on September 15th. Presumably the new console will arrive on the same day.

With all the goings on with this xbox 360 emulator, seeing the website have a major change wasn't unexpected, although the website looks like its still unfinished, its certainly worth noting for things to come, and at looking at their news post "HELLO WORLD" they do say about needing some style love.
So why don't you head over to the http://xenia.jp/, and say from me
In over xenia news, we have compiled a nice selection of vids of this emulator in action, if you have any to contribute check out the topic here.

XBMC4Xbox 3.5.1 is now available. It is a minor update from 3.5 to fix some recent problems with scrapers and the Addon installer:
* Fixes for the TMDB scraper – including search, certification, and images.
* Updates to the Addons installer script – it now includes the XBMC Gotham repository, as well as the Kodi Helix repository. Unfortunately we have no working youtube addon currently as there was an API change on youtube which stopped the older youtube addon working. There is a newer one for Kodi, but it requires some changes to be made compatible with XBMC4Xbox.
* Moved our XBMC4Xbox Addons repository off Google Code, since that service is closing down. It is now hosted on our own equipment along with the main XBMC4Xbox repository.

Numbers from sales monitor Media Create suggest that Xbox One slipped to a saddening new low in Japan earlier this month.
Kotaku reports that the numbers suggest that for the week ending June 14th Xbox One sold just 100 units across the whole of Japan. That’s less than PS3 (2,633) and even the Vita TV (566).
Famitsu numbers reported by MCV last week put the number at 118, but whichever way you look at it, it’s not good news for the console.
Remember too that Xbox One has been available in Japan for a lot less time than other major markets. The console launched in the UK, US and other markets in November 2013 but didn’t make its Japanese debut until September 2014 – just nine months ago.
However, at launch it sold just half the amount shifted by its predecessor the Xbox 360, which itself was largely seen as a flop in the region. By January sales in the region had fallen to just 300 units per week.
Xbox’s former Japanese boss Takashi Sensui quit the role late last year.

“The best line-up in Xbox history”. That was the promise Microsoft made in the run-up to E3 2015, and it’s hard to argue that it failed to deliver.
At this stage last year I was trying to look at the positives of what was ultimately a lukewarm E3 2014 from Microsoft. Hours later I was saying that Sony had gone and won the show. Let’s not even start on how the pair fared at E3 2013 (hint – Sony smashed it).
We’re still over six hours away from Sony’s E3 2015 showing, but the PS4 platform holder is going to have to do something incredible if it wishes to repeat this success. Microsoft’s presentation was fantastic, packed not only with new IP but also progressive and impressive initiatives that really do add value to the Xbox One platform.
Xbox 360 compatibility is a headline-friendly move from the company that on paper certainly makes a lot of sense – there are a lot of 360 owners out there who have yet to make the move to next-gen, and this is definitely an extra nudge.
Still, the reality remains that while backwards compatibility is always high on wanted features checklists, its real-world impact is less pronounced. And as it has to be implemented on a title-by-title basis, there’s no way to know how many titles it will grow to include, or at what rate they will be added. Lots of question marks remain concerning this one.
However, Microsoft’s move to bring Early Access titles to console via Xbox Game Preview is entirely sensible, and shows that the company is aware of modern market developments. That all XGP titles must also offer a free trial shows that the platform holder wants to protect its consumers, too. And it even has a console exclusive title on board to help push the service – Dean Hall’s new title Ion.
The news that Fallout 4 mods will be available for free on Xbox One is another smart move, furthering ties between Microsoft’s console and computer platforms.
Having already got into bed with Oculus – it was confirmed earlier this week that Rift will ship with an Xbox One pad and that Xbox One games can be streamed to the headset, albeit in a clumsy virtual theatre setting – Microsoft has now gone and sealed some sort of partnership with Valve VR, too. The details remain unknown, but Sony’s Project Morpheus is certainly starting to look a little isolated.
Let’s not forget, either, that Microsoft has its own new technology to shout about – Hololens. The Minecraft Hololens taster was perhaps the single most impressive E3 tech demo since the company first unveiled Natal. Obviously we all hope that Hololens goes on to enjoy better fortunes than Kinect, which Natal eventually became. Kinect was not mentioned once, by the way. But it can have no better weapon in its arsenal than the mighty Minecraft.
Games were flowing freely, too. As well as the very Halo-looking Halo 5, the very Gears-looking Gears of War 4 (and Gears of War Remastered), the very car-looking Forza 6 and the very un-tomby-looking Rise of the Tomb Raider, there were lots of new titles on show.
Rare is finally doing something new, and it looks decent – Sea of Thieves will be lapped up by default by Rare fans (as will the confirmed Rare Replay collection) but looks appealing enough to attract a wider audience. Inafune’s Recore seems like another strong string in the bow, and the list of console exclusive indie title on the way – such as Ashen and Beyond Eyes – once again seems very on the pulse. Hell, Microsoft even grabbed the Dark Souls III trailer for its show.
Microsoft’s repeated pledges to make E3 2015 its best ever looked very much as if it was risking setting itself up for a fall. But the platform holder will be delighted tonight. It delivered, and coupled with Xbox One’s recent price drop and a decent selection of games with which to close out the year, there’s every reason to argue that Xbox One could very much close the gap on its competitor in the coming year.
Will that happen? Our eyes now turn to Sony’s conference at 2:00am tomorrow morning. MCV will be offering live coverage once again.
Here’s a roundup of all the Microsoft E3 2015 announcements:

The noise that greeted the news that Xbox One would now be backwards compatible with Xbox 360 titles said everything you needed to know about how big a deal that was.
This wasn’t on the E3 bingo cards. This hadn’t leaked out via the media - it wasn’t even part of the conversation.
Yet gamers wanted it, so much so that it became the most requested feature on Microsoft’s feedback website. And the roar from the crowd at The Galen Center in LA was all the evidence you need that this is a true killer app for Microsoft.
And it could prove to be the biggest weapon in Microsoft’s arsenal in terms of winning over a reluctant Xbox 360 user base.
In the UK, there are over 9m Xbox 360 owners. If you consider that the install base for Xbox One and PS4 is just 3.7m, that shows the scale of opportunity Microsoft and Sony still have in the market.
Sony is resurgent. Yes, it’s upgrading its own PS3 fans to PS4 successfully, but it has also been doing a fantastic job of converting Xbox 360 owners to PS4, too. Microsoft can’t hope to win these users back - not yet anyway - its best hope is to convince those 360 fans who have not upgraded (all 5m of them) to join Xbox One. And backwards compatibility is a compelling argument. Especially as gamers can bring their games to Xbox One without having to pay an extra fee - a move that is in direct contrast to Nintendo and PlayStation’s backward compatibility attempts.
Beyond this, a digital backwards compatibility solution is something that publishers can utilise to boost pre-orders. Bethesda is offering those who buy Fallout 4 a free copy of Fallout 3, while Ubisoft is giving away Rainbow Six: Vegas and Vegas 2 for buyers of the upcoming Rainbow Six: Siege. It’s a low-cost way of encouraging gamers to get their advance orders, and could just as easily work for games like Mirror’s Edge, Dark Souls III and pretty much any third party release on the platform.
It could also do wonders for pre-owned sales of Xbox 360 games, something I’m sure GAME, GameStop and the like will be keen to capitalise on.
There are still legitmate questions about Xbox One, such as how it can even possibly dream of taking back some of the European markets it has ceded so easily to Sony.
But as E3s go, this is the closest the company has come yet to shaking off that dreadful Xbox One reveal two years ago.

The Xbox 360 games available to Xbox One Preview members has been confirmed.
22 titles are included in the initial offer, with the promise of over 100 being available by this holiday and “hundreds” more in the months ahead. The service will roll out to all Xbox One members this autumn.
Here’s the initial list:
- A Kingdom for Keflings
- A World of Keflings
- Alien Hominid HD
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Banjo-Tooie
- BattleBlock Theater
- Defense Grid
- Geometry Wars Evolved
- Hexic HD
- Jetpac Refuelled
- Kameo
- Mass Effect
- N+
- Perfect Dark
- Perfect Dark Zero
- Small Arms
- Super Meat Boy
- Toy Soldiers
- Toy Soldiers: Cold War
- Viva Piñata
- Viva Piñata: TIP
- Zuma
- “The digital titles that you own and are part of the Back Compat game catalogue will automatically show up in the ‘Ready to Install’ section on your Xbox One,” Microsoft has said.
“For disc-based games that are a part of the Back Compat game catalogue, simply insert the disc and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive. After the game has finished downloading, you will still need to keep the game disc in the drive to play.”
Eurogamer says it has been confirmed that Xbox 360 save files can be transferred to Xbox One via the cloud. The Verge reports that, as expected, the whole thing is achieved via 360 emulation on Xbox One as opposed to technical changes being made to the games themselves.
"We have to do packaging and validation work on each title to make it available through Xbox One backward compatibility," a Microsoft spokesperson told the site.

Kinect may have been totally absent from Microsoft’s excellent E3 presentation, but the company says that software is still in development for the machine.
Xbox’s general manager of global games publishing Shannon Loftis told Polygon that not only is the device still coming to Windows 10, but also that unannounced Kinect games are currently in development internally at Microsoft.
"It's still an option for gamers and it still powers what's special about how you can navigate the dashboard," she said. "They wanted a choice and they got a choice. It's still a going concern. More creators than you might expect are now engaging with Kinect for Xbox One."
The first Xbox One SKU to go on sale without bundling the motion camera arrived a little over a year ago. The company recently permanently cut the price of its entry-level £299.99 and introduced a £349.99 1TB model – neither of which include Kinect.

June 20th, 2015, 23:25 Posted By: wraggster
Microsoft has ramped up in its battle to convince Xbox 360 gamers not to defect to PlayStation.
The platform holder’s backwards compatibility announcement at E3 was designed to try and convince some
of the 84m Xbox 360 owners to stick with Microsoft.
The platform holder, which has called this year’s line-up the biggest in the company’s history, continues to struggle in the face of a resurgent PlayStation. But corporate VP and CMO Mike Nichols believes this year’s line-up, backwards compatibility and the recent price drop to £299, will allow the firm to claw back ground on Sony in the UK.
“If you are an Xbox 360 customer, we just put our best foot forward about why now is a good time to upgrade to Xbox One,” he told MCV.
“Between the games you own ultimately being able to work on the new system, and the exclusives line-up we
have, as well as the third-party games where we have some exclusive offers there...if you take the totality of it, that’s why we said this is the best games line-up in Xbox history. Those things, combined with the permanent price drop to £299, means that now is a good time to move across.
“As a marketing guy I was worried that maybe there was a bit too much hyperbole when we were saying this
was the greatest games line-up in Xbox history. But we certainly will deliver on the claim. In fact, if you think about everything we are doing, perhaps we are underselling, especially when you take into account some of the third party games we didn’t show on stage at E3. It might be the best games line-up for a console ever.”

June 20th, 2015, 23:16 Posted By: wraggster
Xbox One is in prime position to dominate next-gen hardware sales later this year following what was undoubtedly an exciting E3, Microsoft predicts.
The key to this swing away from PS4? The triple-whammy of Xbox One’s new Xbox 360 backwards compatibility, Halo 5: Guardians and Gears of War Ultimate Edition.
"A lot of people have been waiting for the next Halo; a lot of people have been waiting for Gears; a lot of people have been waiting for backwards compatibility," Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg told GameSpot.
"We think having all of that coming this holiday; we expect we're going to see a massive migration. We expect millions of Xbox 360 owners to migrate and move to Xbox One.
“We see that the majority of people who buy an Xbox One today own an Xbox 360. So our fanbase has stayed very loyal. And frankly, they're waiting for those new releases to come this year."
So far in 2015 PS4 has in the US outsold Xbox One every single month with the exception of April. However, Sony’s E3 conference was light on games due out this year and Microsoft’s immediate first party offer is undoubtedly looking stronger as we plough forward toward Christmas.
PlayStation’s European boss Jim Ryan this week, however, downplayed the significance of Microsoft’s backwards compatibility announcement.
“We have experience of backwards compatibility. The earliest PS3 model was backwards compatible with PS2, and it is a much requested feature… but actually it’s not so greatly used,” he said.
“[Microsoft’s news] was quite a complicated announcement and I’m not sure I fully understand it yet. And I suspect there might be a few twists in that particular tale. It is an entirely legitimate approach, and if you are seeking to upgrade 360 owners to Xbox One, it is a very logical approach to take.”

Kinect is not dead. That’s the message from Microsoft, despite the fact the peripheral was not mentioned once in its Xbox E3 press conference earlier this week.
“We are absolutely continuing to support Kinect," Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg told GameSpot. “We're continuing to support Kinect where it makes sense [and] innovating with Kinect in a different way.
“We really want Kinect to be a choice for customers. For me, I love it; I turn my Xbox One with Kinect; I use it for entertainment; I use it to do screenshots and all that. I like to be able to have my hands on the controller and use voice commands. But, frankly, a lot of people also want a better value and don't want to have to pay for it. So we're not going to force people to do that. We give people the choice."
Greenberg went on to cite Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana, which will be making its way to Xbox One at some point down the line. What he didn’t mention, though, were Kinect-specific games.
One of his colleagues has, however.
Xbox’s general manager of global games publishing Shannon Loftis claimed earlier this week that not only is the device still coming to Windows 10, but also that unannounced Kinect games are currently in development internally at Microsoft.
"It's still an option for gamers and it still powers what's special about how you can navigate the dashboard," she said. "They wanted a choice and they got a choice. It's still a going concern. More creators than you might expect are now engaging with Kinect for Xbox One."

MCV takes a look at the best accessories heading to UK retail. This week, it’s a double showing for Microsoft as its new Xbox One Controller and Wireless Adaptor for Windows prepare for launch
Xbox One Wireless Controller
Microsoft has tweaked its Xbox One pad with some brand new features.
The new Xbox One Wireless Controller now features a standard 3.5mm stereo jack, which allows players to plug a headset directly into the peripheral.
Consumers previously had to purchase the separate Xbox One Headset Adapter in order to connect a headset.
While using the new controller, users will be able to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring and voice and game audio balancing by using the Settings menu in the Xbox One interface.
The audio port isn’t the only addition to the new controller. Microsoft also claims to have further tuned the two top bumper buttons, improving responsiveness.
The pad will also now receive software improvements automatically thanks to built-in wireless firmware updates. This means that gamers no longer have to connect the controller via a USB cable to update it.
The improved controller will be bundled with the brand new 1TB Xbox One SKU, as well as being available as a standalone item.
The solus product will be offered in a black colour scheme, as well as a new silver and black camouflage design entitled: Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller.
RRP: £44.99
Release Date: Out Now
Distributor: Exertis
Contact: 01279 822 822
Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows
This year will finally see the release of the long-anticipated Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, allowing players to use their Xbox One pads with PC games.
The memory stick-sized dongle connects via a single USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, and then syncs wirelessly with an Xbox One controller.
As well as desktop computers and laptops running Windows 10, the adapter will also work with tablets running the operating system, including Microsoft’s Surface range of products. Windows 10 is the only OS supported by the peripheral.
Several of the controller’s features on Xbox One will be carried across to PC, including chat input and stereo audio output.
Many games on platforms such as Steam support Xbox controller input by default, meaning that no extra setup is required on the part of the player. Compatibility often includes the automatic switching of in-game button prompts from keyboard controls to button icons.
The adapter will be available both as a standalone product, for those who already own at least one Xbox One controller, and in a bundle with a new Xbox One Wireless Controller.
RRP: $24.99 (£16) (Solus), $79.95 (£52) (With Xbox One Wireless Controller)

Fans of backward compatibility are getting their wish: Microsoft just announced that the Xbox One will be able to play Xbox 360 games, and if you're in the preview program you can start testing it today. Demonstrated onstage with Mass Effect, it's not exactly like the Xbox 360's implementation, since it's all digital. If you bought a game online and it's available, you just download it on your Xbox One and start playing. If you have it on disc, just pop the disc in and it will download so you can play, although you will need to have the disc in the tray for it to work. Additionally, on Xbox One you'll be able to to take advantage of new features like the Game DVR, screenshots and game streaming. Microsoft says it should have more than 100 games ready for the program when it launches for all this holiday season, and that all developers need to do is approve their games for the system to make them available -- no extra work should be required.
