RetroArch the Multi system emulator for Windows/Wii/GC/PS3/XBOX/XBOX360/Android has been updated with a new release
Half a year after RetroArch 1.3.6 was released, now comes the next big stable! Version 1.4.1 is by any yardstick a big massive advance on the previous version. There are about 5000 commits or more to sift through, so let’s focus on a few big main standout features that we want to emphasize for this release.
Where to get it
https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.4.1/
We are calling this release an ‘Open Beta’ because we want people to put the massively improved Netplay features through its paces! All of your feedback and issues will be taken onboard so that 1.5.0 (which we intend to ship somewhere beginning of March) will deliver on all the promises we have made for netplay.

Always great to see homebrew running on the latest consoles, Dosbox is a Dos Emulator, heres more details:
Recently, the Xbox One was updated with a feature that allows anyone to 'Develop' apps/games for it, using the UWP interface, and even tho its very limited in the sandbox, someone been able to figure out a way to get 'DosBox' running on it, allowing them to get their Xbox One to boot-up Windows '95 and play the first version of Duke Nuk'em the video game, all tho the framerate a bit slow for now!Developer vcfan has not released any binary at this point. Nevertheless, this looks pretty cool, despite the awful framerate. The Author says this can be improved though. Vcfan says: "Its slow for now because it's only using the cpu interpreter. The dynarec still needs work since it produces crashes on 64bit, but it flies with it."
In the video, we can see the developer running Windows 95, Duke Nukem 3D, and a tiny bit of an SNES emulator (but no SNES games).
That's pretty cool, and it would be interesting to see where this goes. This could quickly make the Xbox One a more interesting platform for enthusiast devs than the PS4.
In some of the youtube comments, vcfan has promised he will publish the sources in the days to come, so stay tuned.
So this is one story we going to follow for sure, as it seems the UWP mode on the Xbox One, might just open up some neat doors!

As I catch up with news releases heres one for Xbox 360:
xeBuild v1.18 and DashLaunch v3.18 with GUI to follow up shortly!Surprising enough Microsoft rolled out a new Dash for their old aging Xbox 360 consoles, but it didn't take long for Swizzy and his team (deep3r, cOz, ikari) to roll out a new set of xeBuild and DashLaunch to get everyone up to speed on using RGH on the latest Xbox 360 dashboard. @modrobert writes: "The RGH/JTAG related hack tools with support for Xbox360 kernel 2.0.17511.0 (latest) have been released, say hello to xeBuild, xeBuild GUI and Dash Launch. As of posting this Swizzy is still working on xeBuild GUI, but it will show up after release. Could this be the last kernel update for Xbox 360? Happy to see the #xbins FTP server is still going strong!"

Microsoft is keen to make its Xbox One Backward Compatibility as robust as possible. The feature, which lets users play Xbox 360 titles onMicrosoft's latest console, continues to grow thanks to help from developers. A testament to this is a slew of new backwards-compatible games arriving today, including Soulcalibur, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (free until February 5th) and Counter-Strike: GO, plus a few others.
What's most interesting here, though, is that Microsoft says it will now start releasing titles as they become available, instead of setting a launch date for them every month. That's a good move, if you ask us -- the sooner we can reminisce over old games, the better.

January 19th, 2016, 21:34 Posted By: wraggster
We're less than 20 days into the new year and Microsoft has already detailed 2016's first Xbox One system update.
Stealth Aoife article.
The Xbox One February update arrives todayfor Preview members and in a couple of weeks for everyone else.
There are no headline-grabbing additions, but plenty of asked-for tweaks which will please regular Xbox One users.
Pins can now be reorganised without the use of the Smartglass app, for example. And - finally - they can be used when the console is offline.
Microsoft has restored the console's Gamerscore leaderboard, which was swept away from the Xbox One dashboard in last year's November update (it's now in your Profile app instead).
The avatar store is back too (last seen on Xbox 360), and redesigned for easy access from your Xbox One avatar app or the equivalent app on Windows 10. There are literally thousands of clothes and props to spend money on now, if you so desire.
Other changes include the ability to see who's in a Party before joining and to hide unwanted games/apps/betas/demos from your library.
There are other, more minor tweaks to your console's activity feed, the speed which you can join friend/follower Twitch broadcasts and improvements to your suggested friends, too. It's another solid update from Microsoft which has said it will continue its monthly additions this year - just like in last.

After a holiday break, Microsoft is back to trotting out Xbox One software upgrades... and the next one is a doozy. The impending February update will introduce a smarter home screen that lets you rearrange pins and update your activity feed whenever there's something new. Also, it's much better if you're particularly competitive -- there's a Gamerscore leaderboard that lets you know whether you're the top achievement hunter among your friends.
There's more. It's now easy to join a friend's Twitch stream from a game's hub or tile. You'll also know who's in the party you're joining, get better friend suggestions and have the option to hide content you no longer want to install. Microsoft is teasing a few features shared in common with the Xbox app on PCs and phones, too -- there's a newly integrated Avatar Store and an Xbox news hub.
Want an advance look? The February update is available now on the Xbox One for preview program users, and the Xbox beta apps will get their new features next week. Microsoft hasn't said exactly when everyday gamers will get the update (besides February, of course), but you shouldn't have too much longer to wait.

Would it be nice to play your own songs through your Xbox One without having to use a second window? Unfortunately, the console doesn't support background music, and that feature isn't coming until Summer. Xbox head Phil Spencer was asked as much on Twitter, and responded that it wouldn't be "before Summer, sorry to say." So, that's that, and you might as well get used to having only 80 percent of your TV's real-estate taken up by your game, since Groove Music is keeping the rest... for now.

The EA Access Vault creaks open next week on Xbox One for those with an Xbox Live Gold membership, which enables many of the console's online functions. EA's Vault will be open from January 19th to 24th for Gold folks. Its library features 14 games, including Battlefield Hardline, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Titanfall, FIFA 15 and Madden 15.
EA Access runs $5 a month or $30 a year, and aside from offering full games, it provides early playtime with new titles and 10 percent off EA purchases on Xbox One. Package this with Xbox One's backward compatibility function, and even Sony's PlayStation Now program for the PlayStation 4, and it's almost like the future of console gaming is online, after all.

Proving that the console wars are never truly over, today the Supreme Court of the United States announced (PDF) it would hear an argument relating to Microsoft's Xbox 360. At issue is whether or not Microsoft will have to face a class-action lawsuit brought by Xbox 360 owners over the console's tendency to scratch discs. In 2012 a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit claiming there weren't enough complaints for a class action, but in March 2015 that ruling was overturned.
The Supreme Court will not hear Microsoft's argument and rule on the actual case, just whether or not it can be heard as a class action lawsuit. This whole thing has been dragging on for years, with at least two lawsuitsfiled in 2007 (it was a bad year for Xbox 360 reliability), claiming the thing was designed poorly, and without the proper protection, to keep discs from scratching with any amount of movement. In 2008, leaked documents suggested Microsoft knew the 360 had a problem -- the folks in Redmond now claim that of 80 million+ consoles sold, only 0.4 percent report an issue which they blame on misuse -- and the company has settled lawsuits on other problems. For most of us, the Xbox 360 is most relevant for which games are now playable on the Xbox One (and how well they actually work) but if the lawsuit goes anywhere we'll keep you updated.

Maybe you've been holding out on getting an Xbox One all this time because your subconscious has been waiting for this bundle. Whatever your reason is, this package is worth checking out if you've been looking to get both a 1TB version of the console and Tom Clancy's The Division when it finally drops. You can pre-order right now from the Microsoft Store, Amazon, Best Buy or GameStop if you're in the US or Canada for US$400.
A lot of retailers plan to release the pack on the same day the survival shooter game arrives (March 8th), but some might ship it out as early as March 1st. Best Buy's product page, for instance, lists 03/01/2016 as the release date. Ditto for some other locations around the world where the bundle will also be sold. If you're in the US, though, you'll get a really nice bonus for pre-ordering: the bundle will give you early access to the long-awaited title's closed beta, which is slated to launch on January 28th.

The exact number of Xbox Ones sold worldwide remains a mystery, but we now know that it is in excess of 18m units.
GameSpot reports that a reporter on ZDnet heard from sources that new stat gathering for Windows 10 revealed that 18m Xbox One consoles are ‘active’.
Microsoft later confirmed to ZDnet that ‘active’ refers to any machine that has been turned on and connected to the internet within the 28 prior days. Along with 18m Xbox Ones, the same period also saw 180m active Windows 10 PCs and 1m Windows 10 phones.
How many Xbox One owners can realistically be expected to turn on their machines every month is another question, but it’s certainly reasonable to assume that the actual sales number is quite a bit higher than 18m.
Microsoft hasn’t revealed any concrete sales data for its machine since announcing that it hadshipped nearly 10m consoles back in November 2014. It then said late last year that it would no longer report Xbox One numbers.
Sony said last week that it has now sold 35.9m PS4s.

Twitch's Xbox One app just became much more useful if you can't stop watching live streams. Thanks to an update, Amazon's game-focused video service offers the Host Mode viewing you've seen on the web -- if a streamer wants to showcase someone else's work on their channel, you'll see it on your TV. Also, there's a fresh Recent Activity hub that shows channels you've watched, channels you follow, and recommended on-demand clips. All told, you're much more likely to have something to watch... even when your favorite "let's play" host calls it quits for the night.
