Cel-shaded scurrying news now, with Ubisoft announcing a downloadable extension to its latest Prince of Persia game ... Prince of Persia. Set directly after the events of the main narrative, the "Epilogue" DLC expands the acrobatic protagonist's playground, as well as his magical companion's repertoire of powers. Epilogue's associate producer, Jamal Rguigui, tells IGN that players can expect the new Underground Palace area "to keep you on the edge of your seat." And even if you slide right off, we're sure Elika will be there to grab you.
While careful not to spoil the game's conclusion, Rguigui notes that Epilogue will further develop the relationship between the main characters and task them with defeating a new enemy, The Shapeshifter. "The Shapeshifter is an enemy that takes the form of two of Ahriman's most fearsome Lieutenants, the Warrior and the Hunter," he says. "Though their physical form is familiar to our heroes and the player, it will requires a particular strategy to defeat the Shapeshifter, rewarding the player that takes advantage of the new sprint feature exclusive to the Epilogue."
In addition to the royal rogue's sprinting offensive, the DLC gives Elika the "Energize" power, which allows her to temporarily restore a piece of destroyed environment. Tough-guy gamers will also be pleased to note that said environment will offer more challenging platforming sequences and additional traps to be almost-killed by. "We wanted to build a challenge and experience even greater with all the tools at our disposal, and let me say that there are a lot: Elika's power, traps, combat system, etc."
Look for all of those etc. on PSN and Xbox Live on February 26th. We'll update as soon Ubisoft settles on a price.

An online update for Capcom's XBLA title Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is coming soon.
A post on the Capcom-Unity blog today is short on details but confirms that a patch is forthcoming and will "be fixing many of the issues that many of you have been experiencing."
As many fans have been speculating, the patch has been in the works for some time, but the Capcom team was unable to disclose that info until now. We still don't know when the update will hit Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network or what exactly it will address.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix was developed by Backbone Entertainment in cooperation with Capcom and was released in November.

Nineteen-year-old Codey R. Hawks has been arrested on rape and sexual imposition charges in Parma, Ohio, accused of raping a 12-year-old boy. The two are reported to have met through Xbox Live.
NewsNet5 of Cleveland is reporting that Hawks "repeatedly raped" the underage victim after traveling from Michigan to Ohio. Parma police said that Hawks was staying with the boy's family, having arrived on January 15th. He was arrested yesterday.
I thought we made it perfectly clear well in advance of this disgusting incident that this is not what Xbox Live was for.
Try to keep your faith in humanity from shattering while exhibiting your best behavior in the comments.

Xbox Live Arcade gets a healthy does of everyone's favorite traditional Chinese tile game with the release of FunTown Mahjong, which gets a headstart on DLC right out of the gate.
FunTown Mahjong combines the fun and addictiveness of the ancient Chinese tile game with all the modern bells and whistles, including Xbox Live online play, leaderboards, and tons of game variations. You can purchase the full game for 800 points, and then slap down an additional 160 points for the Chinese Festival pack, which allows you to play in a temple during the Chinese New Year. You know, for luck.
Of course the best part of any video game version of Mahjong? Not having to set up the damn tiles yourself.

All-knowing, all-powerful games industry analyst, Michael Pachter, sees the partnership between Microsoft and Netflix as a very good thing for the latter's bottom line. GameDaily quotes the silicon seer as calling Xbox Live a "proverbial gold mine" for Netflix.
How's that? Pachter estimates that roughly one million Xbox Live Gold members are also Netflix subscribers, and that 200,000 or so of them signed up for Netflix after the debut of the New Xbox Experience in late November, 2008. Pachter's posse of prognosticators at Wedbush Morgan Securities feel that the influx of 360 owners to the video rental service "will continue at super-normal levels for quite some time."
In fact, Pachter expects to see "as many as 1 million [XBL Gold members] join as Netflix members in the next year," and furthermore predicts 35% of those who buy a 360 in 2009 will also purchase a Gold membership, hence the proverbial gold mine. Note to Netflix: We suggest you nix any plans to add the Leprechaun films for Instant Queue viewing, lest you wish for the rapscallion to make off with said gold.

MTV expects Rock Band to activate overdrive this year and have over 5,000 songs available for play, reports Billboard. Developer Harmonix hit its goal of having over 500 songs, spread across discs and DLC, on the music platform by the end of last year.
Although we have no reason to doubt Harmonix's ability to provide content, the math dictates that an average of over 90 songs would need to release every week for the rest of 2009. Even if that figure is mitigated by special discs (like AC/DC) or Rock Band 3 (unlikely), the developer has its work cut out. We've contacted Harmonix to find out if its publisher is being realistic.

Given just how shaky the economy as a whole has been of late, Microsoft's sour news in relation to the Zune isn't quite as shocking as it might be otherwise. That said, plenty of outlets publicly voiced their concern for the future of the line, but now Microsoft has hit back with assurance that everything's still moving ahead according to plan. In a recent interview, Adam Sohn, the Zune's director of marketing, said rather defensively that "every time anything comes up, there is a set of people who pull a Chicken Little and say, 'The Sky is Falling. Zune is dead.' " He continued by stating rather outrightly that Microsoft was "still on track to deliver the next generation of Zune innovation in software and hardware," noting that the planning was "fast and furious" and that "progress" would be delivered this calendar year. Welp, that settles that, huh?

While we're certain the point-and-click enthusiasts among us would like to get their paws on Joystiq's favorite game of 2008, Fable 2, it looks like they'll be waiting for a while longer -- on a Lionhead forum post asking whether or not the Albionic caper would be making its way to computers, community manager Woody swiftly answered, "We're not working on a PC version of Fable 2." As far as we can tell, no winks, nods or suggestive elbow nudges were included in the dispatch.
Woody's statement seems contrary to a report which made the rounds late last week -- a report which claimed that a Lionhead rep confirmed that a PC version of Fable 2 was "likely imminent". Why the discrepancy? We contacted Lionhead's senior community manager, Sam Van Tilburgh, who explained that the quote embedded in said report wasn't legit. Get comfortable, WASDers -- it's looking like Molyneux's hero sim won't be hitting your platform of choice in the near future.

At a preview event for UK journalists, the lead producer behind Ensemble Studio's real-time strategy take on the Halo universe suggested that downloadable content for the game could be in the works.
UK tech news site Electricpig spoke with Halo Wars producer Jason Pace at the preview event for the game, who indicated that while there are no definite plans yet, the studio is committed to supporting the franchise. While that isn't exactly a yes as far as DLC goes, he did mention that "additional downloadable content is something we’re looking in to."
Looking into is much better that breaking down in tears or punching the journalist in the face, so we're going to go ahead and put a check in the "Definitely Maybe" column.

When Microsoft said Banjo-Tooie was coming to Xbox Live Arcade in early 2009, we were hoping for something in the first quarter or so. Rare's announcement this week puts the game just beyond that window and into April.
Rare is calling it a "note-perfect migration" with upped graphics and framerate. BT will also feature the ill-fated Stop 'n' Swop, a relic from the Nintendo 64 days allowing items collected in Banjo-Kazooie to materialize in the sequel. No indication on what such items will be or how they'll affect gameplay. As for the cost, mum's the word for now, but our guess is it'll be at or near BK's 1200 ($15) price tag.

Earlier this month, a number of screengrabs for what appeared to be an Xbox Live Arcade port of Square Enix's popular portable puzzler, Yosumin, leaked out of various enthusiast press sites. If they looked legit, it's because they totally were. In a press release heralding the Japanese XBLA launch of Crystal Defenders (a port of a Squeenix mobile strategy game), the company revealed that its second Live Arcade project would, in fact, be a port of the aforementioned portable puzzler, titled Yosumin Live.
This is exciting news for block-swapping puzzle fans, but the real megaton comes later in the presser: "Beginning with these two games, Square Enix plans to release a steady stream of its popular titles -- as well as original content -- on Xbox LIVE Arcade." Try not to let your brain catch fire as you begin a marathon session of fevered speculation.

Midway announced today that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has shipped "approximately" 1.8 million units for Xbox 360 and PS3. Unlike another publisher, Midway is taking the shipped figure as a positive sign for the franchise. Ed Boon, creative director for Mortal Kombat, stated the group is already working on the "next version of Mortal Kombat," with details forthcoming.
As much as this is positive news for the Mortal Kombat franchise, Death is still knocking on Midway's door. Can one moderately successful franchise pay for all those executive salaries?

The demo gets a week headstart on Live before appearing on PSN. The official blurb says, "Play by yourself or play with a partner in co-op mode, either online or offline with a split screen." Let us know what you think of it below in the comments.
While you're there (on Xbox Live Marketplace) our OXM chums over on the other side of the office have asked us to flag up their Inside Xbox debut. Fire up the Inside Xbox channel and you should see "Five things not to do in Left 4 Dead" featured on your screen.

Atari has pushed the RACE Pro release date back a week.
The SimBin-developed Xbox 360 driving game will now sit in shops from 20th February.
Swedish outfit SimBin created the well-received GTR series for PC, you may remember, so we're quite excited to see what comes out of the garage this time around.
Early impressions are favourable; Oli picked up good vibrations during his RACE Pro hands-on session last December. And, with the next instalment of Forza still under wraps, there's plenty of room for a simulation racer to take up a strong position in 2009.

New xna game released
It is a fast paced ships racing game over terrains. So you must make three laps before the opponents, but to gain speed you must fly at low altitudes. That is not easy, though. If you collide with terrain or enemies, your energy is decreased until you explode (and it happens fast).
Keyboard, generic gamepad and XBOX 360 controller supported.
