Microsoft just published Ninja Blade all throughout Asia and it’s fully localized in a multitude of languages one of them, perhaps the most important one here, being English. The Asian release is region free too so there’s nothing to stop you from getting Ninja Blade if you can’t wait to slice and dice giant pillbugs.
A release date has not been announced for North America, but I expect Ninja Blade to come stateside soon. Gamestop claims we’ll have Ninja Blade in March now and the retailer will begin sending out codes to download a premium Ninja Blade theme on March 10.

February 12th, 2009, 23:20 Posted By: wraggster
n another of its seemingly bi-weekly press events, Rockstar Games invited us round to have a session on GTA IV: The Lost and Damned's multiplayer, which has been expanded with various modes and goodies.
At least six new modes are promised for the expansion, including some that are clear departures from what we've been used to before. Plus there's the obligatory deathmatch, team deathmatch and Free Mode to think about, and the tons of new vehicles, weapons and options not included in the original GTA IV.
Rather than give you the same old two thousand-word run-down, we've split our impressions into an easy seven-point bullet list so you can see exactly what impressed us about our Lost and Damned.
On the blower: The Lost and Damned's expanded multiplayer introduces a
much-demanded feature absent from the first game; an expanded multiplayer mobile phone. Using Niko's trusty cell from the main game players can now find expanded quick match and filtering options, which should at the very least please the fans and make GTA online a bit more accessible.
Road Rash: L&D's bike-only Race mode is about as close as we've been to get to a next-
generation Road Rash. Armed with baseball bats and tightened-up bike handling, up to 16 Lost racers can burn through the usual stream of Liberty City checkpoints to claim the chequered flag.
Swinging your bat left and right (with the X and B buttons for either side) feels useless at first, but once we figured out you can charge up your swings by holding down the respective button, Rockstar staffers were scattered across the road like roadkill pigeons. Nicely optimised, but perhaps a little bland following GTA IV's own umpteen race modes.
San Andreas flashbacks: One of our favourite game mode additions, Own the City,
has two teams of four (The Lost and Angles of Death) battling across Liberty City to take over various territories. It's all very similar to San Andreas own turf feature; once either team has eliminated an area's AI gang members it'll change to their colour, spawning your own tooled-up AI mates in the process. A frantic, city-sprawling turf war ensues with team members gearing up to assault enemy turf, while scrambling back to their own to defend opposing attacks.
Another twist to the scenario is the addition of gang vans, which can be driven around the city to equip computer-controlled gang members with beefier guns. In our experience the AI seemed to be fairly useless whether carrying a giant shotgun or not, but we had a jolly old time doing the delivery rounds in our gun wagon none the less.
Biker bullies: Lone Wolf Biker, another roster addition, has sixteen players competing
to become the Lone Wolf. How do you become the Lone Wolf? By cappin' the player who was previously the Lone Wolf, of course! Like Highlander, there can be only one.
Even with eight combatants the streets quickly turn to absolute carnage as players skid and scramble to plant one in the back of the player with the big arrow above their head. As the convoy screams after the unlucky Wolf, who's tasked with reaching various waypoints across the city for points, it's easy to overpower a corner and go crashing into a bus stop.
We even managed to accidentally ascend into the biggest bike jump we've ever done in GTA IV. Bullets spray from every direction and it's difficult to hold the Wolf title for longer than a minute, but once you manage to break out onto a long straight you can gain a big lead - as the cheeky bugger who got four minutes clear of everyone else discovered.
With eight journalists in a room at Rockstar it was a frantic, swear-word-shouting holler. But on Xbox Live with a bunch of strangers - strangers that are going to deck you and then wheelie off into the horizon at 100mph - we've got out doubts.
Witness Protection: Our favourite new mode of the seven? Witness Protection. This
pits a team of Lost gang members against a second team of N.O.O.S.E. cops, who're tasked with driving an armoured bus full of state's witnesses across town.
On the N.O.O.S.E. team only one player can drive the van and thus, see the destinations to drop of the witnesses. Teamwork is required to make sure cop cars don't smash into each other on sharp corners and drop back to hold off the attacking Lost players as they pursue the massive van.
Once a drop-off destination is reached N.O.O.S.E. players must defend the AI witness as he makes he makes his way inside. In our game this usually resulted in Lost bikers ploughing into the side of cop cars in a desperate suicide mission. Great fun, but spawn points need to be adjusted to make sure the Lost team isn't always miles away.
Chopper Vs. Chopper: Lost and Damned's most unique online mode pits a lowly man on a
bike against a tooled-up attack chopper - and it's an explosive meeting. The biker player must reach various checkpoints across the city to top the scoreboard, all the while watching their back for the noisy death machine raining rockets from the sky.
Controlling the chopper is a tricky job unless you've put the hours into GTA IV, which in our case meant running laps around town unthreatened as the biker, then wrapping the chopper around a telephone pole. Good fun at first, but we can see this getting repetitive - especially as its limited to two players.
Club Business: Not a mode we got to try in our Rockstar session, but the official
blurb describes it as "a competitive mode where all players take the role of a member of The Lost. Angus will call with tasks that must be completed to gain favour within the gang, once you've completed enough tasks, you become the club leader. In the team-based version, you can gain money for your club by riding in formation."

Holiday 2007: Microsoft launched a program which allowed Xbox Live users to send each other Microsoft Points as a last minute gift.
Sometime between then and now the gifting feature, which was in “beta”, got canned. I remember going through the cumbersome process before. You couldn’t directly send points from one Gamertag to another, you needed the recipient’s linked Windows Live ID. Still sort of useful for eleventh hour gifts. Supposedly, the team was working on Microsoft Point gifts via Gamertags, but since the gift points feature vanished without warning don’t count on that coming.
That leaves Nintendo as the only console around with a downloadable game gift system unless you count game sharing over PSN.

Beat Afro Samurai? Did you watch the credits roll? Closely? Peter Saji was credited in them for writing a downloadable episode. Gamecyte spoke to Saji who explained he had creative freedom to pen multiple episodes. That’s right multiple downloadable episodes.
Saji notes the downloadable episodes are not a continuation of the story in Afro Samurai and take place in an alternate timeline. You’ll still see Afro and Ninja Ninja in them. In the interview Saji also discusses how Afro Samurai blurs feudal Japan with modern day technology. Is his plan to throw Afro in an arena with cybernetic samurai from the future?

French board game Dungeon Twister will be joining the Xbox Live Arcade catalog of tabletop games gone digital, with Asmodée and Hydravision's announcement that the game's XBLA release will happen in Q3 2009.
The best way to describe Dungeon Twister is as a mix of monsters, magic and strategy. It's a game where you escape a dungeon and, well ... that's basically what you do. It's probably best that you read up on the backstory and (twisted) rules for yourself (PDF). You'll also be pleased to know that there's a library of game expansions, so downloadable content should be plentiful.

Brace yourself for a Wednesday morning freak-out. We've already done our "This Wednesday" post for this week (3 on 3 NHL Arcade, thank you for asking) and now we're doing it ... again. Because XBLA will be welcoming not one game to the service this week, but two. And the other one ... is Minesweeper ... no, not on your digital watch, on your 360.
Technically, TikGames' new release is Minesweeper Flags 400 ($5), which includes a new mode wherein -- get this -- you try to find the mines. We told you, this post is a mindf**k. Dogs, cats, mass hysteria, the whole bit.

You probably don't have enough Grand Theft Auto IV-branded Xbox 360 Elite consoles laying around the house -- because one is never enough -- so prepare to set your mood to "envy" as you check out the kit that Gamertag Radio got their hands on. The GTA IV: The Lost and Damned Xbox is a limited edition of 190 copies and not available in any stores, so if you're really really in desperate need of one of these things (say, to play the exclusive content that Rockstar and Microsoft have partnered up to release, of which The Lost and Damned is the first installment) you'd better know a guy -- or have plenty of cash to throw at eBay.

When you kids are ready to get serious about your gaming, let us know. We just spoke with our man Justin at Solomods, and he has a custom-built Xbox 360 arcade machine that he's willing to part with for a mere $2,250. This original Midway arcade cabinet was once home to The Simpsons game, and aside from the addition of the Microsoft game console it's been repainted and fitted with a new monitor and front-loading disk tray, two joysticks, a 60GB hard drive, WiFi, and display and volume control. Additionally, your favorite wireless controller is supported, and if you order now he'll throw in an illustrated owners manual. How awesome is that? Available for pick-up somewhere in the badlands south of Cleveland, Ohio -- hit the read link to get in on some of that action.

1UP took note of a tiny blurb in Japanese magazine Kinema Jumpo, which indicates that Namco Bandai is preparing a Tales of Vesperia movie. The animated film will allegedly be the first in the series to hit the the big screen. Tales of Phantasia, Eternia, Symphonia and Aneurismia (not real) have all received linear animated media releases, but not in theaters.
The Japanese version will feature voice talent from the game, but there's no word if the same is planned for an international version. 1UP speculates that the film could be used to cross-promote a PS3 version of Vesperia. We don't know about that, but Namco Bandai did eventually take its Xbox 360 exclusive, Eternal Sonata, to the PS3.

A downloadable demo for Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. hits the Playstation 3 on Feb. 12 and the Xbox 360 on Feb. 11, Ubisoft announced today. The demo will arrive on the PC on Feb. 26.
The demo will include jump-in, jump-out co-op for up to four-players, two game difficulties, three planes and two missions.
Operation: Off Certification is a training mode that teaches gamers how to pull different maneuvers. Operation: Glass Hammer takes place in Rio De Janeiro and includes support of the Assistance On mode which allows your plane's computer to calculate interception courses, evade missiles or hit a ground target.
The three planes that will be flyable will be the F-16A Fighting Falcon, SU-35 Super Flanker and the AV-8B Harrier II.
Ubisoft says that the demo will also let players take on tanks, amphibious targets and dog fight in a "stunning panoramic boss scene."

Microsoft has announced plans to temporarily offer the Xbox Live multiplayer service for free - usually restricted to paying Gold members - to anyone playing Grand Theft Auto IV or the downloadable content The Lost and Damned.
The offer comes as a promotion for the latest downloadable expansion pack to Rockstar's controversial title, set to last throughout February 17 - 22.
Rockstar Games and Xbox Live are hosting a week of events with the chance to take on hip-hop DJ Statik Selektah in a special Game with Fame event and to play against "the people behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise" in a Game with Rockstar.
Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will be available for download through Xbox Live beginning February 17 for 1600 Microsoft Points (USD 19.99 / EUR 19.20 / GBP 13.60).

Epic's Gears of War scribe, Joshua Ortega, has said the series will be "long-term" and could continue on for as much as ten years.
Speaking at the New York Comic-Con, Ortega talked about the developer's future plans for the series, comparing the two blockbuster games to the Star Wars franchise in terms of opportunities and ambitions.
"You will not be disappointed in the next ten years," Ortega said, as reported by IGN. "It's a ten-year plan. Gears is long-term. The Lancer is the new Lightsaber."
When asked if there were any plans for more single-player downloadable content for Gears of War 2, he responded: "Keep watching... You won't be disappointed."

ou may remember deviantART member Ricepuppet from his days dressing up his Xbox 360 in Domo-kun stylings. He's back, combining our love for console paint jobs with all things Hello Kitty. No matching controller this time, but there's more than enough stars, shades of pink, and cuteness to make up for it. The Sanrio charmer isn't the only new mod he's got, we also spotted consoles adorned with Halo Wars, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Chocobos (of Final Fantasy fame). Now how about we see some of that HK love plastered on a Rock Band drum set?

As the overarching economic conditions continue to bite, much has been said about the plight of original IP - and that it's under threat as consumers spend on what they know best, and publishers look to reduce risks on unknown quantities.
But Microsoft has no intention of sacrificing its "focus on exciting IP" and will continue to invest in innovation in order to emerge from any ongoing recession in a "healthy" state.
That's according to EMEA VP for the corporation's Interactive Entertainment Business, Chris Lewis, speaking in the first part of an interview published on GamesIndustry.biz today.
"I think you'll see some [IP under threat], yes - but I also think, and I can only really speak with authority about our own games development work, be very confident we'll continue to innovate, and focus on exciting IP for the future," he said.
"Be very confident that we see that ultimately as central to our ability to continue to be successful, because I think if you batten down the hatches and simply work where you know you're already strong, that doesn't give you the future growth that we're all hungry for.
"I think all the big, mature companies are thinking that way - because if we're in the eye of the storm right now in terms of the economic situation, then clearly we'll come out. We will come out of this situation, people will start spending money again, banks will start issuing credit in a slightly more flexible way and we'll come out of it.
"The healthy companies will be the ones that have invested sufficiently during that phase that they've got exciting IP and innovative things happening for when that recovery starts to happen. I don't know when that is... I'd love to know, but I tend to think very positively about the opportunities that it subsequently creates."
Among the new titles the company brought to market in the build up to the 2008 Holiday season were Lips, Scene It and You're in the Movies.
The first part of the interview with Chris Lewis, in which he also assesses the performance of the Xbox 360 platform over the past year, is available now.
