A new version of BlissX(info), an Intellivision Emulator port for XBox1 has been released:
[QUOTE]
First off...
The Intellivision is very reliant on something called Overlays for proper gameplay. Hence the reason I added overlay support. You can access the overlay by pressing the right analog stick button. If you're still having trouble check out the manuals using the media browser.
Do NOT! Zip up the Intellivision BIOS Roms (eg.. ecs.bin, exec.bin, grom.bin, and ivoice.bin)
What's new/fixed:
* It speaks! Intellivoice fixed so now you can play games like B-17 bomber, Bomb Squad, Space Spartans, Tron Solar Sailer, and World Series Major League Baseball.
* Given the full "Madmab Edition" treatment.
* New dual-preview skin to support Ressurection Xtra's. Say thank you to Gilou9999 for the skin. Music provied by Carnage By Bob.
* The INTVT Controller 1 disc was hard coded to the left analog stick. I removed this. They can be mapped thru the controller settings screen.
* Added ability to map controller one to controller two's buttons (and vice versa). Since the INTV doesn't like keypad and discs presses at the same time. This allows for dual stick action in games like "Nightstalker" and "Discs Of Tron".
* ECS keyboard can be mapped to the controller now, thus making ECS games playable (Mind Strike). True keyboard and onscreen keyboard support pending.
* Added overlay support! Also created a new overlay system. The file "overlay.ini" contains configuration information for each overlay, including the color of the transparent button. Default + game overlays provided by "Carnage By Bob", thank you!
* Overlay can be accessed by both controllers. So that player two can use it as well (useful for games like "Body Slam - Super Pro Wrestling").
* Added the following homebrew games to the Bliss internal database. The following games are now playable. Astrosmash competition, King Of The Mountain (fixed), League Of Light (proto), Lock 'n' Chase (fixed), Robot Rubble (how do you start this?), Same game & Robot, Space Patrol (Teaser), Stonix, Super Masters, Tag-Along Todd, and
* Numerous interface changes (read Latest-BlissX.txt)
* Numerous carryovers from Atarixlbox (read Latest-Blissx.txt)

Update: After finding out that this story apparently created quite a buzz among many game websites, we here at XBLAFans.com just want to assure everyone that this story is indeed true in the following context: when asked about their plans to port Machinarium to different platforms Dvorsky confirmed having ‘talked’ with Microsoft. He did not specify if this involved being accepted for XBLA or being published by Microsoft on XBLA, but did put an emphasis on losing revenue through a conventional publishing deal.
As our critical peers at DIYGamer have already confirmed, this is a legitimate outtake from an interview I had with Jakub Dvorsky during the Casual Connect conference in Hamburg two months ago.
Here’s our original story:
Czech game studio Amanita Design, creators of the critically acclaimed PC point-and-click adventure Machinarium, recently announced that they are making plans to bring the game to different platforms. Asking founder and leader designer Jakub Dvorksy about their intent to port the quirky little adventure game to XBLA, Dvorsky informed us about Microsoft’s recent refusal of the game:
“Microsoft just refused Machinarium for XBLA after a half year of talking with them. They like the game and know it would be very successful on their platform, but they don’t want to support games which aren’t Microsoft exclusives. Machinarium isn’t, since we’ve also released versions for Mac and Linux. We have another option to approach some big publisher to bring the game to XBLA, which is quite absurd to do and lose maybe a large part of revenue because of that.”
Back in 2009, Machinarium took the prize of ‘Best Visual Arts’ during the Independent Game Festival. As far as we know Dvorsky and his team are still working on finding the right publisher to circumvent their earlier issues with Microsoft and still end up on XBLA. Fingers crossed!

This is it. Cue The Doors record, because next Thursday, April 15th, Microsoft will be turning out the lights on the servers that run original Xbox games on Xbox Live, which means that this weekend will be the last non-workdays you've got to play Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Crimson Skies, or Halo 2 online. If it's any consolation, remember that the reason for the shutdown is that older hardware on the service is keeping Microsoft from being able to update things like the friends list limit, so in this case, change should bring some welcome progress.
But as for us, we'll be vegging out all day on Sunday playing Conker: Live and Reloaded. We just called Aunt Emma to tell her this weekend's visit will have to wait -- something more important has come up.

Well, it's not April 12th, but it looks like you can now order a Zune HD 64 nonetheless -- straight from the Zune Originals website, at least. As expected, the device runs $349.99, and the 16GB and 32GB models have now also been knocked down to $200 and $270, respectively -- all of which are naturally available in the usual range of different colors, and with custom designs for an extra $15. You'll also, of course, get the latest v4.5 firmware pre-loaded on the device, which packs new features like SmartDJ that Microsoft was recently kind enough to demonstrate for us.
[Thanks, Henry and Jonathan]
Update: Turns out the Zune HD 64 won't come pre-loaded with the v4.5 firmware -- you'll be prompted to download it when you connect the device.

Good secrets are hard to keep, and it looks like at least one of Microsoft's trusted partners has spilled the beans on the company's big announce for Monday. SanDisk used the occasion -- the unannounced occasion, that is -- to let some members of the press know today that Microsoft's Pink devices will be compatible with its line of microSD cards. That seems like a pretty lame way to ride on the coattails of a big hardware launch, but then again, when your most exciting products are nondescript pieces of plastic half the size of a postage stamp, how else are you going to make the news?

From Edge
Developer Epic Games is set to evolve the combat by introducing new Locust foes with tentacle-like appendages which are capable of extending to player cover spots.
Meanwhile, the COG members of Delta Squad will be equipped with explosives that can travel beneath the ground to take out enemy cover positions, our US publishing source told us.
While the first two Gears games offered mobile cover in the form of objects like burnt out cars that could be pushed around, Gears Of War 3 will feature a heavy duty mech suit the COGs can utilise both for protection and to wreak havoc.
All of these new features will be present in the singleplayer campaign and multiplayer modes, Edge understands.
We were also informed that the game will be set during the summer and introduce a number of new environments to the series, including underwater locations. The end of the last title saw the COGs sink mankind’s last city, Jacinto, and flood the Hollow in order to take out the Locust Horde beneath the surface.
Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 demo at GDC in March showed off jungle or foliage-heavy areas, which could also make an appearance in Gears Of War 3 - Epic previously used GDC 2008 to debut Unreal Engine upgrades that went on to show up in Gears 2.
Gears Of War: Jacinto's Remnant, a novel written in conjunction with Epic, continues the Gears story from the conclusion of the second game. One story strand focuses on the island of Vectes, a former COG naval base sporting fertile lowlands, forests and a river. This setting could be ideal to show off the developer’s new Unreal Engine features were it to show up in Gears Of War 3.
Gears Of War 3 has yet to be officially announced. However, Epic design director Cliff Bleszinski is set to reveal a new game on Monday’s episode of US talk show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and it could be on the agenda. He was originally set to appear on tonight’s show - the same day we predicted Gears Of War 3 would officially be unveiled – but said that the change in schedule would allow Epic “to take a couple more days to polish” its game.
In response to this report, Microsoft told us that it "does not comment on rumour or speculation”.
update
There are now reports that an ad has now appeared on the Xbox360 dash for Gears of War 3 saying "The epic story concludes April 2011"

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 "Stimulus" map pack saw more than 1 million downloads in its first 24 hours of availability, according to publisher Activision.
The downloadable content was released on Xbox Live on March 30, with more than 2.5 million downloads in the first week.
Two map packs were initially announced by Activision, both of which will be 30 day exclusives for the Xbox 360 version of the game.
The map pack contains five new maps for the game, three brand new designs and two based on maps from earlier title Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
The downloadable content has proven controversial with some fans, in part due to its high cost of 1200 Microsoft Points ($15/£10.28) - more than previous Call of Duty map packs.
There was also considerable server disruption on the day of the pack's release, with some in-game features being affected. Although none of these issues appear to have affected its financial success.

New from Divineo USA
This is an add-on kit that gives your Xbox 360 the ability to have a switchable external DVD drive.
Using the same technology as used on the new Blaster CK3, the xDrive gives you the freedom to utilize a second DVD drive without having to open up your Xbox 360 ever again.
If you want not to risk of MS bann due to modyfied DVD, this kit is 100% safe sollution! You can use ixtreme fw on one drive and stock on the other. Only one DVD drive is used at time, you can switch betwean the internal and external DVD (you must power down/restart your XB360).
You may want a second drive to perform backups of your valuable Xbox 360 games using the new 0800 firmware which is proven to be more reliable than the Kreon DVD drive rips; you may want to keep your internal drive as stock and untouched and have your external unit freely available to do with as you please; you may want to increase the longevity of your internal DVD drive – there are many reasons for you to benefit from the Xecuter xDrive.
You do not need own Blaster 360 or unlock kit if you use this xDrive kit.
NOTE: The DVD drive is not included – the xDrive supports ALL models of DVD drives. You will need to flash the new DVD to transfer your DVD key to it.

Halo 3 will be released digitally on Xbox Live's Games on Demand service on 20th April.
In Europe, the Bungie shooter will be joined the same week by guilty pleasure Saints Row, and preceded on 13th April by Devil May Cry 4. North Americans get Tomb Raider: Legend instead.
All this was confirmed by Xbox's Major Nelson in a Marketplace release schedule for the coming weeks.
You'll be able to get price reductions on Left 4 Dead's Crash Course DLC and Borderlands' The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned add-on from 12th and 19th April respectively. Retro fiends can enjoy Final Fight: Double Impact on Xbox Live Arcade in a week's time, on the 14th.
Expect to see add-ons for Mega Man 10 this week, and Forza Motorsport 3 next week.
Seems like April will be as quiet for new releases on Xbox Live as it is in the shops. Roll on May!

April 7th, 2010, 16:11 Posted By: wraggster
Today, Microsoft has rolled out a planned update that allows the use of USB Flash Drives to be configured as memory storage on the Xbox 360 console; this allows for profiles, gamesaves, downloadable content and even games to be installed on any compatible USB memory device. All Xbox Live users will have to apply the update whether they want this feature or not as it is a mandatory installation.
The update brings the following memory enhancements:
You can have 2 devices connected to the console at a time, enabling up to 32GB of simultaneous storage.
The system won’t just configure the device once it is connected to the console. You’ll need to head to the memory area in system settings, select your USB Device, and choose from Configure Now (Format and Configure the Full Device), or Customize (you can choose how much memory you want configured for Xbox360 from the free space on the device.)
You can now select multiple items to move or copy without needing to transfer each item individually from one device to another.
It has come to the attention of modding groups that once the Xbox 360 associated files are saved on a USB memory device they appear unreadable on any computer, with the folder list displaying itself as empty. Futher investigation by the group has revealed that a folder named XBOX360 is kept hidden, and all Xbox 360 transferred items contained within it are stored together grouped in files that are unable to be individually extracted. With the current USB update, Microsoft has made saved content more difficult to access than previous memory card methods which was to simply insert the card into a device that plugs straight into your computer and copy it across using drag & drop. Folders are now encrypted files, and content transferred to USB memory from the Xbox 360 are stored within the files together rather than listed individually as numbered content.
Within just a few hours of the update, a member of the modding group is already claiming to have hacked the security methods on the files to try and create a program that extracts content to a PC desktop.

New Special Offer from Play Asia:
Rogue Warrior is a story-driven shooter that provides team-based tactical combat set in massive, contiguous levels using Unreal 3 streaming technology.
Central to the game's single and multiplayer experience is the idea of a freeform battlefield, where players are given the freedom to choose how to complete a given objective, allowing for creativity and surprises, rather than heavily scripted events and tightly contained spaces traditionally used in this genre.
You play Dick Marcinko, leader of an elite SEAL unit trapped behind enemy lines in North Korea on a covert mission to assess the threat posed by North Korea’s nuclear arsenal.
When war breaks out between North and South Korea, you must try to lead your team back into South Korea while greatly outnumbered and with no support and limited resupply.
Your journey will take you through a variety of never-before-seen environments inside of North Korea, including submarine pens, shipbreaker yards, prison camps, and more.
Explosive and exciting, Rogue Warrior, our Weekly Special is available at an unbeatable bargain price of US$ 9.90 only. The Asian version is region free and supports a multi-language system with English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

New from Divineo USA
The new version is now able to read and program also the so called “big block NANDs” which are the 256Mb and 512Mb mainboard versions if the Xbox360. In addition to the added support for big blocks the new version adds more quicksolder pads which means less cables are required. Cygnos360 V2 Ref F fits nicely onto the underside of the Xbox360 mainboards and connects to the Jtag port via quicksolders (no resistors or cables needed here) Take a look at the photo, you will see on the top right the new quicksolder pads that sit directly on the jtag port.)
The new version does not carry a secondary NAND anymore so it is a single flasher, not a dual NAND. The reasons for this are, you don’t really need the dual NAND feature anymore on the home brew stuff and it allows us to make one version that fits all Xbox 360 versions.
Cygnos 360 V2 is now available for Xenon, Opus, Falcon, Zephyr, as well as all different Jasper versions (16, 256 & 512).
Tests show very fast programming and reading times. Reading a full 512Mb image takes less than 10 minutes, a 16Mb image less than 2 minutes. The images created are highly reliable as error checking has been implemented during the transfer.
The Cygnos360 V2 is faster, more reliable and easier to install than any alternative solutions.

We've held off as long as possible, but the tips just keep flooding in -- Xbox Live has a problem, and evidently it's a rather noticeable one. Word on the street has it that a new Modern Warfare 2 map update has made a number of Xbox Live features unusable, including online MW2 gameplay. We're also hearing that the Xbox Live Marketplace is off-and-on, and even Microsoft admits that quite a few other things are acting quirky. The good news is that a fix is on the way, so we'd suggest grabbing that lunch you've been denying yourself and trying again later. Hey, aren't you supposed to be working right now, anyway?
P.S. - Let us know if you're running into any issues in comments below, cool?
Update: Things seem to be working their way back to normal. Phew.

Let's just be nice and feign surprise, okay? Good. With that out of the way, Microsoft has announced a 64GB version of Zune HD, due out April 12th via the Zune online store (and later via other retailers) with a handful of color options and a strapping $349.99 price tag. Not to be outdone, the 16GB and 32GB will each receive a $20 cut on the MSRP, to $200 and $270, respectively -- whatever Amazon and Newegg slash beyond that is up to them. It seems "as soon as possible" is the motto for when the price drop is taking place, so if your favorite online / brick-and-mortar retailer isn't yet honoring the extra Andrew Jackson in your pocket, have patience. So now we're left with a v4.5 firmware release date as the remaining piece in this puzzle, but Microsoft promises to solve that riddle wrapped in an enigma "in the coming days." Right.
