No official portable Xbox is on the horizon, but that can't stop people from dreaming. The latest mock-up comes from a reader in Vancouver who has some creative ideas for advanced portable gaming.
Vancouver-based Video game artist David Delisle is building his portfolio and looking for feedback. He writes to Kotaku that he's not a fan of the PSPgo, as he's hoping for more hardware innovation for a device launching at $250 U.S.
So he dreamed up the following for a portable and branded it to the Xbox for kicks.
Some of the features in his design include a detachable faceplate, the ability for the d-pad wheel to be unlocked and pivoted like a steering wheel and – as seen in the animations here – some interesting ways to work analog triggers and a collapsible analog stick into the design.
How much would you pay?

Why can't every developer be Infinity Ward? When asked by Videogamer.com why Modern Warfare 2's co-op was limited to two players, spokesman Robert Bowling said, "Two player seemed to be the magic number for co-op. That's when it stayed really fun and intense without becoming a clusterf**k of things."
Bowling also said that the whole game won't be playable in co-op because the developer is "crafting a very specific experience" and doesn't want to "ruin that by cramming co-op into it." While it's nice to see a company stick to its guns like that, we figure developers who sell a hojillion copies of a game can pretty much write their own menus

Microsoft has announced a new Xbox 360 Wireless Microphone that will launch this autumn for around 50 dollars.
The microphone boasts "high-quality voice reproduction technology and stylish interactive motion sensors and lights", and will work across music games like Lips, Guitar Hero: Metallica, Rock Band 2, Disney Sing It: High School Musical 3 - Senior Year and The Beatles: Rock Band.
The press release is sparse, but the microphone doesn't appear to be tied to a game - rather a separate Xbox 360 peripheral like a wireless control pad.
We're checking European details and confirming specifics.

Microsoft has announced that Garou: Mark of the Wolves will also be available from Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow.
Like Droplitz - the other Wednesday offering - Garou will cost 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60).
Garou: Mark of the Wolves is a fighting game of Fatal Fury descent that found fame on the Neo Geo back in 1999. There are 12 characters to pick from and plenty of hectic action promised.
Head over to the Xbox.com website for some Garou pictures, which are taking us an age to load.

Namco Bandai has announced an October 27th release for Tekken 6 in North America, promising it will appear in Europe, Japan and Asia "shortly thereafter".
That date applies to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. There will also be a PSP version, but the press release doesn't give it a more precise release date than the autumn.
Namco also revealed that it would be selling the game bundled with a wireless Hori arcade stick and an art book for USD 149.99, but there's no word on whether this deal will make it to Europe.
Tekken 6 has been in Japanese arcades since late 2007, but arrives on consoles - including, for the first time, Xbox - with an all-new Scenario Campaign beat-'em-up mode for solo and co-op play.

Telltale Games design director Dave Grossman has said Tales of Monkey Island may appear on Xbox Live Arcade after release on PC and WiiWare, which launch this summer.
"We didn't so much decide not to put it on Xbox Live Arcade as we decided not to put it on XBLA now," Grossman told Eurogamer in an interview published this morning. "Normally what we do is PC and one of the other platforms, and we've been bouncing back and forth between them.
"Yeah, I mean I wouldn't rule it out. We might do that one later on."
The first episode of Tales of Monkey Island, Launch of the Screaming Narwhal, arrives for PC on 7th July. A WiiWare date is still TBC - a minor drawback of introducing a third party, explained Grossman.
And while PC, WiiWare and Xbox Live Arcade have been the target so far, Grossman said the real dream is to span every possible platform, including PS3.
"We just haven't gotten there yet," he said. "Ultimately, we would like to be on every downloadable channel there is. We think that's the perfect place for our stuff to be.
"It was just luck of the draw how the business relationships worked out and what chips were falling where. And we have to get our engine working on the platform, which is quite a bit of work, so we only want to do one at a time.
"We wound up doing Xbox," he added, "but maybe later we'll do PlayStation - we'll see."
As for Mac and Linux, Grossman told us Telltale will "get there", but it's a matter of "how and when and can we actually afford to do it".
"But I'd like to see that, too," he said.

Digital releases of Xbox 360 titles are only being held back due to the storage capacity of the console's hard drive, according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter.
He also said that retailers will have no choice but to accept a service offering digital releases day-and-date with the High Street, as Microsoft's publishing partners are likely to back such a service.
"I don't see the timing between new release and digital download being a function of anything other than hard drive sizes," offered Pachter, speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz. "I think as soon as we have large hard drives - think the rumoured Project Natal 'new' Xbox 360 with a terabyte of storage in 2010 - we'll have day-and-date downloads."
Microsoft is due to launch its Games On Demand service in August, but will initially limit the series to best-selling older titles including Crackdown and Assassin's Creed rather than new releases.
"I don't think that the publishers care at all if downloads are day-and-date, and in fact, my guess is that many publishers favour such a model. It's true that retail partners wouldn't like it, but it is not necessarily true that they would have much to say about it," added Pachter.
Suggestions that retailers may be unhappy to sell the hardware without software are off the mark, said Pachter, who highlighted Apple's iPod business as evidence of such a market being lucrative for both.
"I don't see how they could scream too loudly about day-and-date downloads, unless the price for the download was lower than the packaged product price," he offered. "I don't see any retailers refusing to sell iPods, even though all the content on an iPod is distributed digitally.
"Much in the same way, while retailers may baulk at the possibility of day-and-date downloads, I don't see too many refusing to carry Microsoft product in retaliation. Should a retailer boycott Microsoft, I think that the full force of the publishers would be brought to bear on that retailer, and they would find themselves starved for product."
Microsoft has promised around 30 titles for the launch of Games on Demand with new games added every week.

EA's Peter Moore says that Sony's new motion control tech and MS' Project Natal provide a "huge opportunity" for EA.
"I think they are going to impact us very positively," Moore said of the new controllers. "Anything that uses motion and movement -- obviously sports is incredibly a part of that.
"We have seen both Natal and the motion controller from Sony several months ago, so we're already, in both instances, looking at opportunities to bring our licensed product [and] our fitness product, to these new controller mechanisms. I can't think about anybody better positioned than us to do that," he added.
"If you think about everything everybody's always wanted to do with a sports video game, so much of the feedback you get is, 'I just wish I could' -- as we're starting to do -- "punch and something reacts." So you think of Fight Night: Round 4, for example, if it were in a first-person mode it would be very very cool. So those are the things we're starting to look at. Huge opportunity for us," said Moore.
Which games do you think would work best with the two companies' motion offerings?

PC-exclusive strategy game, Tropico 3, is now also planned for a 360 launch, Kalypso Media has confirmed.
"Tropico 3 stays true to the heart and soul of the original Tropico," says Kalypso which, based on the previous titles, means you can expect a strategy game in which you take control of a tropical island.
According to the publisher, "one of the most prominent features of the sequel is your own, freely customizable avatar. This time, you will be able to slip into the clothes of El Presidente, wander about Tropico Island and directly influence your people."
Stefan Marcinek, global managing director for Kalypso Media Group said: "The Tropico 3 release on the Xbox 360 is a first for Kalypso and marks the beginning of an exciting entry into the console market.
"Throughout 2010 Kalypso Media have plans to release four titles in tandem on both the Xbox 360 and PC. Through this we will be able to demonstrate our strong PC Line up with new multiplatform games and this gives us some great opportunities for the year ahead."
The game's due out in September.

The Behemoth's Xbox Live Arcade game Castle Crashers now has over one million users playing the game online.
The title was released less than ten months ago, and according to the developer has become the fastest-growing XBLA title on Microsoft's service.
In 2008, Castle Crashers was the most-played Xbox Live Arcade title, beating Bizarre Creations' Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 and acclaimed platformer Braid to the honour.

Got a knack for fighting titles? Have a particular fondness for Tekken? If so, you definitely shouldn't be playing with a stock controller, and that's exactly why Hori has crafted the beauty you're inevitably peering at above. The stick, which will ship as part of a Tekken 6 Wireless Fight Stick Bundle bundle, will be made available soon for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (shown after the break), and according to our pals over at Joystiq, it'll be on sale at a variety of respected retailers for $150. Said MSRP also includes a collectible art book and a pinch of pride, which totally justifies the somewhat steep asking price. Right? Right.

Randy Pitchford, boss of Gearbox, has praised Bungie and Infinity Ward for their work on Halo and Modern Warfare, but asks "What else have you got?"
"I keep waiting to hear what Bungie is going to do that's not Halo," he said. "Those guys are amazing, right? They walk on water! And the same with Infinity Ward. It's like, dude I'm totally psyched to get my Call of Duty fix every year, but you guys are amazing! What else have you got? Can you give me something I haven't seen before?"
He continued, "The folks that are innovating need to be rewarded so that the folks that are making big bets can take that risk. It's too big of a risk for Infinity Ward to do anything but what they're doing, because there's too much value and there's really big scope for it," he told Destructoid.
What would you like to see Bungie and IW do next then? Apart from Halo 4 and Modern Warfare 3?

Microsoft busy blogger and all-round man of the people, Major Nelson, has spoke of a "faster" guide coming up in the next proper Xbox 360 dashboard update. Don't they always say that?
Speaking in his latest podcast, the Major confirmed: "We are making the guide faster," and that he's been "intimately involved" in it development, being such an active user and all.
"The team has done some really good stuff around making performance enhancements," he said, adding: "'Performance enhancements' doesn't sound right because it sounds like we're going to give the guide a little blue pill, and we're not doing that.
"Whatever we call it (and it's not going to be called the NNXE), but whatever the next version of the dashboard is called, it's better with a lot of very cool new features. That update will be out later this year," he said.
Zune HD video streaming, Avatar Marketplace and Games on Demand (a download service for full 360 games) are among some of the biggest new features expected.

Microsoft's latest Deal of the Week is Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which would have set you back 1200 Microsoft Points this time last week. But this is THIS WEEK.
As such, for one week only (this one), you'll be able to pick up the fighter for just 800 Microsoft Points. But be warned, it's just as nails as Street Fighter IV. Oh and this a 360 deal only. But you knew that, didn't you.
OXM reckons it's: "A reasonable price for a good game which still has plenty of life online, with even more online activity thanks to this deal. So at least give the demo a whirl, if you haven't done so already!" Sound advice right there.

Taito hasn’t made this official, but we’re confident Bust-A-Move is coming to the Xbox 360. The ESRB rated Bust-A-Move Live!, an Xbox Live Arcade version of Taito’s bubble popping game.
Unfortunately, the early rating doesn’t describe any new features.
“This is a puzzle game in which players must line up a device and shoot out bubbles in an attempt to match three or more same-colored bubbles. Players’ goal is to clear the entire play area by bursting these matching bubble groups.”
That sums up every Bust-A-Move game. Will this have online play? Probably. Downloadable puzzles? The WiiWare game, Bust-A-Move Plus!, does so I’m expecting them.

UK retail site PLAY has Max Payne 3 all set for an October 30, 2009 bullet-timed released. When Live Playstation followed up with the retail outlet for comment on where it got the date, the site was told the gaming chain was given the information by "the developers of the game."
We followed up with Rockstar Games -- the publisher -- and a representative stated it hasn't announced a release date. In fact, all the rep could do was refer us to the corporate announcement that the game was coming this winter. If things change, we'll be sure to update.

Lars Von Trier's controversial Antichrist movie will be turned into an equally disturbing videogame that contains "dead kids, nudity and graphical violence".
"[The movie] goes against all the conventions of how you make games and what you can do in games. Dead kids, nudity, graphic violence. It will be a very controversial game, and it’ll be a game that doesn’t really compare with anything else," game director Morten Iversen told MTV Multiplayer.
The film Antichrist, a two-hander starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg, was screened at Cannes last month. Despite consternation, the BBFC has passed the film for UK release as an 18-rated picture. Antichrist is expected to arrive later this year.
The story follows a couple who traipse into the woods to pursue some kind of psychiatric course of therapy. It doesn't go well, as the movie trailer shows.
Zentropa, Von Trier's production company, will develop the game, which is dubbed Eden - the same name as the forest cabin the couple stay at.
"I admire Lars von Trier’s work immensely, and look forward to developing this game based on his work and hopefully with his creative input. He’s an extremely creative, condescending, misogynist genius with a shipload of phobias rattling him every day, so we’re like kindred spirits," added Iversen, a former member of the IO Interactive Hitman team.
Eden's release is penned for next year. Platforms aren't mentioned, and Iversen's not sure Microsoft's keen on Eden for Project Natal.
"Of course if Microsoft is interested, they could bring us an offer. Chopping of axes and stuff like that, I’m not sure Microsoft would be extremely happy to have a nihilist game with their technology," he said.

Atlus puzzle game Droplitz will be offered on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday.
Team Xbox revealed the date, which has yet to be added on the Xbox.com website. There's no price, either.
Droplitz, developed bit Blitz Games, is a puzzle game a bit like the hacking mini-game in BioShock. Drops fall from the top of the screen and need to pour into receptacles at the bottom of a grid like area. In that area are pieces of pipe that need arranging to form a solid escape route for the drops. The more routes completed, the higher the multiplier.
There are pictures and videos on the Droplitz website.
Elsewhere on Xbox Live is a demo for The Bigs 2 - the baseball game from 2K Sports.
