New for Xbox360:
After the success of Bullet Witch, AQ Interactive's second Xbox360™ production is awaiting you. You play as John Lloyd, a special forces fighter and your task is to wipe out all vampire creatures that are residing in a city in suburban Los Angeles.
The object of the game is to make your way through levels stealthily, remaining unseen until it is time to strike. Like Splinter Cell in many ways, except this time the enemy looks like a regular person on the surface, making distinguishing friend from foe a further complication. However when these enemies make themselves known, you will be scared of vampires again. The game is categorised as a stealth action horror game.
In addition to the main story single player mode the game also boasts up to 8 person online multiplayer.

Disturbed pizza manager Michael Devlin kidnaps two boys, gets caught, put on suicide watch and all he wants to do is play Final Fantasy XI. If he hadn't gotten captured, one shudders to think what he'd be doing. But Devlin says:
I'd be in front of my computer screen playing Final Fantasy XI. I like Final Fantasy because it has a network that can connect to people all over the world, from Europe to Japan.
A ringing endorsement of networked gaming! Ugh. Under the name "DevilDevlin," he used a picture of one of the kidnapped boys for his GamerTagPic. On January 11th, he got in a round of Final Fantasy XI before the children were rescued. But with no FF in the slammer, Devlin's doing things like reading another inmate's copy of Death Wish, the novel which the Charles Bronson films are based on. How's that for prison rehabilitation.

Source: The forthcoming issue of Official Xbox Magazine UK.
What we heard: When Bethesda Softworks announced it was taking over the Fallout license in 2004, role-playing fans rejoiced. The series, which had been dying a slow death alongside its flatlining publisher, Interplay, was suddenly in the hands of one of the most acclaimed RPG developers in the business.
Judging by an interview with producer Todd Howard immediately after the purchase, Fallout 3 would be handled with much more care than it had been at Interplay. The latter publisher had closed series developer Black Isle Studios and stopped development of Fallout 3 in favor of releasing the tepidly reviewed spin-off Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel--the only console entry in the franchise--which was so hated by Fallout fans that it was nicknamed "Fallout: POS."
Though Fallout 3 was a no-show at both the 2005 and 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expos, enthusiasm for the project increased over the last two years. The surge in interest paralleled the avalanche of critical plaudits that fell on Bethesda's latest project, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, GameSpot's 2006 Role-Playing Game of the Year.
With the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Oblivion--both based on the Gamebryo engine--earning near-equal praise, the prospect of the currently PC-only Fallout 3 also being released for the Xbox 360 became tantalizingly real. So tantalizing, in fact, that the fact Bethesda refused to rule it out in a recent interview with OXM UK led to a spate of "Fallout 3 coming to 360" headlines on Gamernews.org, playfuls.com, and No Mutants Allowed.
Unfortunately, the majority of the OXM UK article is merely the author talking about the possibility of a 360 Fallout 3, which he (rightly) speculates would be both technically feasible and financially lucrative. For his part, Howard dodges the mag's questions. When asked about Fallout 3, he says only, "We started work in late 2004 with a few people. We only had about 10 people on it until Oblivion wrapped, but most of our staff is on it now."
Avoiding any mention of a platform, Howard continued, "We have pretty long preproduction phases on our stuff doing concepts, design, building prototypes, and such." He then dropped a tidbit more tantalizing to Fallout fans than fresh iguana-on-a-stick: "We should be ready soon to show it off, but we'll see."
Still, if Fallout 3 does come to the Xbox 360, gamers can take comfort that it won't be another half-baked console spin-off. Referencing the OXM UK interview on his blog, Fallout 3 producer Ashley Cheng spoke of how he "hated" Fallout: BOS, indicating a 360 Fallout 3 would (hopefully) bear little resemblance to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox misfire.
[UPDATE] The official story: Taking time out of a multicity trip, jet-setting Bethesda vice president of marketing Pete Hines got back to GameSpot. "Yes, we have said before folks are working on it and have been, but we won't say what stage it's in," he said. "In short, no, nothing's changed, no details, no platforms, etc. We give the same answers regardless of who is asking. It will be a while still until we unveil, until then we aren't saying anything."
Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus that anything official about a 360 Fallout 3 has been announced. Not bogus that the prospect gets gamers all hot and bothered.

You already know that Sony's PlayStation 3 can be dictated via IR, and even your iPod can be manhandled by an umbrella, but the latest discovery in controlling gizmos in unorthodox ways involves Microsoft's Xbox 360 and your universal DirecTV remote. Thanks to a little bit of trickery, you can save yourself the hassle (and expenditure) of buying an Xbox 360 remote by just using the one you've already received with your DirecTV service, and thankfully, the steps to completion are far from difficult. Simply switch the remote to AV1 and hold down the mute / select buttons until AV1 blinks twice. Then, key in 991, followed by 2, and finally tag the Power button; once you've worked off a few calories doing all this, just cycle Up a few dozen times until your console powers up, and once it does, just mash Select to complete the (essentially painless) process. If you're still holding tight to your doubts, be sure to hit the links below for a bit more proof, and click on through for a live action video showing the two (very) distant relatives playing nice together.

Speculation is rife that Halo 3 will launch on Xbox 360 on November 15 in the US. And if that's true, then we can expect a European release a week or two later.
The story, posted on ActiveXbox, claims to have got the information from "an anonymous executive in Microsoft's Xbox group". True or not? It sounds about the right time of year to us, especially as PS3 will be about to cash in on its second Christmas in the US and its first in Europe.
As we all know (even our mothers do), Microsoft doesn't comment on rumour and speculation but with enough heat, Bungie might just make a comment via its website. Stay tuned.

Lumines Live's promised downloadable content packs are now available to download from Xbox Live Marketplace, but you'll need to set aside more than a few minutes to grab them.
As it turns out, those anticipating a quick install routine to underscore the perceived cynicism behind the game's fragmentation - which saw buyers limited to just the challenge and online elements, along with a handful of "trial" levels for other modes - will actually have to wait for nearly 180MB of data to trundle down the line.
Microsoft and Q Entertainment have previously said that one of the reasons Lumines Live was broken up into sections was due to the 50MB download-size cap - reportedly now more of a "guideline" than a rule - and the size of the add-ons that make up the rest of the game go some way to backing that up. When you fire the game up, there's a mandatory auto-update to nab too.
The biggest of the three additions is initially free for Gold members. The Heavenly Star skin features a song by Genki Rockets, produced by Lumines creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi, and will be available for nowt until 21st February providing you have a gold account. It weighs in at 124.50MB - a reflection of the fact it adds not only new musical accompaniment, but also a video background for the skin's tweaked gameplay conditions.
Also available today, for 100 Microsoft points each, are the Vs. CPU and Puzzle/Mission add-on packs. The former weighs in at 24.48MB and unlocks a range of challenges that see you face off against AI-controlled opponents. The original Lumines Live package only offered one stage. There's a new unlockable bonus skin at the end of it too. Puzzle/Mission pack, meanwhile, fills out the Puzzle and Mission modes, with dozens of new additions to each, and is 29.59MB. Both packs will revert to 300 Microsoft points after a month on sale.

less than six months after the original version of the sequel, Samurai Warriors 2 Empires is due out here on 16th March.
Announced under the catchy promise that "Empires Strikes Back", the game nobody's calling SW2E is out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2.
Empires guarantees KOEI's trademark massive battlefield action with a bit more emphasis on the pre-war machinations of tactics and council. Before each battle, you'll be called to make account of yourself on issues of politics and military demeanour.
Once the waffling's out of the way you'll be able to take to one of the 25 warring states' battlefields and try and unite them by killing everyone who disagrees with you, through six regional scenarios and five unification scenarios, making use of 50 new policy cards based on Japanese history, 30 different tactics cards and around 400 playable characters.
You can also expect two-player co-op and a Free Mode, which allows you to pick any stage you like and just go at it.

Microsoft is hoping to see more titles released simultaneously on the Xbox 360 and Vista platforms, according to Rick Wickham, director for the Windows Gaming business.
Wickham indicated that a number of PC and Xbox 360 titles will launch at the same time this year, although he added that it was essentially a decision left to individual third-party publishers.
The initiative is just one of many designed to marry the two platforms, along with games that are playable across both formats and the adoption of Xbox Live features into PC gaming.
At a Games for Windows event held in San Francisco ahead of next week's Vista launch, Microsoft revealed how gaming has influenced design of the new operating system. According to Wickham, gaming and DirectX have been key to Windows Vista's 3D design decisions.
Achievement points, a key aspect of Xbox Live play, are also set to be incorporated into PC games and Windows Vista over the coming year.
Wickham also revealed that backwards compatibility of over 1000 PC games has been tested on the Vista platform.
Microsoft hopes to entice a majority of game developers to release titles under the Games for Windows branding, building a portfolio of titles. Games on show at the event included Crytek's Crysis, Funcom's Age of Conan, Flagship Studio's Hellgate: London and Gas Powered Games' Supreme Commander.

Its a Crazy glitch, but really could not be used effectively in real game, but fun if you want to mess around
Have the ability of remote controlled killing of enemies with a self-destruct mechanism to protect the glitcher. The glitcher can remotely kill an enemy by causing them to explode at any time they choose. The self defense mechanism will trigger the enemy to instantly explode if the glitcher gets hit or dies.
------------
Stand in front of the Troika (turret) and then switch from your lancer to another weapon. As you're doing this immediately press "X" two times (get on and then off troika).
Then shoot once and switch back to the lancer and immediately press "X" two times (get on and then off troika). You have now done the glitch and everyone else will see you holding the weapon you had switched to while you will see yourself holding the lancer. For the remainder of the ammo in your current magazine it will appear on everyone else's screen that you are shooting really fast. You do not see this rapid fire and it will stop once you reload.
Now, when you chainsaw someone it will appear on their screen and everyone else's that you only melee them with the weapon you had chosen. They'll then be going through the animation as if they are being chainsawed, and they will SURVIVE.
After chainsawing someone, if you press "B" to rev your chainsaw, the person you had chainsawed will instantly explode. If you switch to another weapon and then back to the lancer, the person will explode. Also, if you get hit or die either from friendly fire or an enemy, this will cause the person who was chainsawed to explode. It's sort of a self destruct failsafe mechanism build into the glitch.
Once you have chainsawed someone there is no time limit for when you can cause this person to explode. It lasts the entire round in Multiplayer or the particular section you are playing on in Campaign as long as there isn't a cut scene. You can only do this glitch to one person at a time since pressing "B" to chainsaw another player would instantly cause the first player you chainsawed to explode. Host cannot do this glitch.
Side Effects:
- Shooting a weapon on your back happens when you do the glitch and then switch from the weapon in your hand to another weapon and then back again. Switching to another weapon and then back again will put the gun on your back on everyone else's screen and they'll see it shooting whenever you press "RT".
- Shooting a gun in the vertical position at your side happens when you do the glitch when the lancer isn't the first weapon in your hand or isn't in your inventory when you start the glitch. So the first part wouldn't start out or have to involve the lancer, but rather another weapon.

A brand new World War II first-person shooter answering to the suitably heroic sounding name Hour of Victory will be exclusively joining the Xbox 360 ranks this summer.
Recruited by Midway and developed by nFusion, Hour of Victory is promising a few new features to make sure that it's distinguishable from a certain other shooter that serves on the frontlines of the Second World War.
nFusion's not-so-secret weapon is the ability for players to take charge of three different characters - British Commando, US Army Ranger and Covert Ops specialist - within each skirmish.
As well as each soldier type bringing their own strengths to battle, which in-turn affects how objectives are best accomplished; it also affords a trio of different perspectives for every mission.
We'll be jumping the sandbags soon for our own hands-on with this new Call of Duty challenger but, until then, check out some other key Hour of Victory features as revealed in the February issue of the Official Xbox 360 Magazine:
• The British Commando adopts a run-and-gun approach; the US Army Ranger is a sniper specialist and is more mobile, allowing him to reach areas inaccessible to the other characters; the Covert Ops guy can pick locks and move and kill silently
• Each character has its own point of view and is responsible for a subsection of each level
• Players can change characters at rally points
• Open-ended level maps will allow for multiple ways to tackle objectives
• Players will take part in three campaigns, spanning 1942 to 1945
• Campaigns take place in North Africa, the Bavarian Alps and Berlin
• A regenerating health system is used in favour of medi kits
• Players will be able to control vehicles (tanks and jeeps confirmed) and gun emplacements (anti-air guns confirmed)
• The developer hopes that players will be able to control any vehicle they encounter in a level
• AI Allies and enemies will work in teams dynamically (flank, fall back, stand ground), take cover and blind fire
• Enemy squads will all have a commanding officer that issue orders. Eliminate the CO and the group's morale will drop, improving the chances that they will retreat
• Will feature authentic WWII weapons, vehicles, equipment, uniforms and locations

Certain Affinity's Max Hoberman says that Halo 3's Xbox Live features are "years ahead of everything that's out there".
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz about the formation of his Austin-based studio, which is currently working on multiplayer maps for Halo 2, Hoberman also hinted at the levels of secrecy surrounding the project at his former employer, Bungie.
When he originally left Seattle, Hoberman was working remotely for the Halo developer. "Online, UI, planning... All sorts of stuff. I did that for a long time," he says. But that quickly became impossible as the game reached implementation. "They won't even let a build of Halo 3 leave the building," he says.
With a bit of help from Microsoft Hoberman was then able to set up Certain Affinity, whose multiplayer maps are due out this spring. The company is also working on a new, unannounced project. "We're prototyping it on the Xbox 360," says Hoberman - but he won't say much else.

Microsoft and Realtime World's Xbox 360 GTA contender Crackdown is now available in demo from on Xbox Live - though it might take you a while to download...
Weighing in at a hefty 1.24GB, the demo lets you explore roughly half the district that belongs to the 'Los Muertos' gang, with access to both single and co-operative modes - so you needed fling cars alone.
It should also be noted that levelling up in the demo has been made easier to accommodate the 30 minute time limit, and will take longer in the full game.
Crackdown is out for Xbox 360 on February 23.

So Microsoft's strategy for its Zune player is becoming clear. Just dig up what Register readers were talking about five years ago.
Having attempted to add "BluePod" features ("squirting" music between devices wirelessly) to Zune, Microsoft is now promoting another concept that may sound familiar to long-time readers.
On Saturday, Microsoft's media business chief Chris Stephenson said he wanted to see music dispensed by over the air "filling stations" to Zunes.
The British-born executive was addressing the Midem Music expo in Cannes. Stephenson said the best candidates for these digital dispensers - he called them "filling stations" - were retail chains that already play host to Wi-Fi hotspots, and named Starbucks and McDonalds.
We first wrote about the idea here. Pioneer Qwikker (formerly WideRay) set out providing infra red data dispensers at conferences at the turn of the decade, and now provides terminals for 700 hotspots, most of which beam over Bluetooth and target phones, rather than PDAs. London Underground plays host to over a dozen such "proximity servers" on the Tube.
Two years ago, Nokia blessed the concept, even ripping off Qwikker's name "Service Point". But Nokia's offering suffered the same fate as so many other good products from the Finnish phone giant, and died a death. Nokia has been talking about the creepy sounding "M2M", or "machine to machine" commerce for much of the noughties, without putting a successful product on the market.
Stephenson said Microsoft was looking for more ways for Zune users to "cache and download on the go".
Despite the mixed reception to Zune, Stephenson said Microsoft was reasonably satisfied with the progress of a product that wasn't even conceived a year ago. He pointed to the retail operation, rolling Zune out to 31,000 stores in the US. Sales-wise, there was less to boast about, but he said the media player had grabbed 21 per cent of the iPod Video category.
Asked about the Universal deal, where Microsoft agreed to pay a fee of $1 to the record label, Stephenson said "we felt it important to make that gesture". He declined to suggest to the audience at the world's biggest music expo that anyone who knocked would get a similar deal.
"There's nothing we're committing to in the long term," he said.
Asked about the choice of brown as one of the three Zune colours, Stephenson said that retailers had been more positive than the critics. Microsoft estimated 15 per cent of stores would want brown Zunes, whereas retailers actually ordered 35 per cent of Zunes in brown. The sell-through was higher than Microsoft expected, but lower than the retailers thought: at 21 per cent.
Repeatedly, Stephenson emphasised that Microsoft had Xbox-scale ambitions for Zune, which means a multi-year, multi-billion dollar commitment.
Microsoft has previously been cagey about the date for a European launch, but Stephenson said Q4 2007 was the target, although which markets would get a local Zune had yet to be decided.
That can build a lot of data dispensers.

The first wave of Halo 3 Beta registrants will be notified of their acceptances this week, bringing phase one of Bungie's registration process to a close. A brief statement posted on Halo3.com reads: "If you have been selected to participate, congratulations and stay tuned for an email notification on the week of January 22-26, 2007." Anyone expecting?
Two additional registration phases will follow, beginning with the "Rule of Three" Halo 2 playathon (Feb. 1). The final invitations to join the beta will be granted through the purchase of specially-marked retail boxes of Crackdown, which releases February 20.
In related news, Microsoft has confirmed that the Crackdown demo, which will not offer access to Halo 3 Beta, will launch on Xbox Live tomorrow, January 23 (2:00 A.M. PST).

PopCap Games had a successful 2006 on Live Arcade, crowned recently with the release of Heavy Weapon.
It doesn't plan to stop there either, according to communications director Garth Chouteau, who expects more new games in 2007.
"There are of course other titles in the works for XBLA," he recently told Gamasutra. "Based on the success of the four titles we have released to date, in addition to the new one Heavy Weapon, I think that it's safe to say that other PopCap titles will make their way to the service."
"I would expect to see additional XBLA titles from us to show up this year."
He was, however, tight-lipped as to what the games would be.
Heavy Weapon broke the previous safe and friendly puzzle template that PopCap seemed to rigorously stick to. As a result, it became their most successful title, selling "an order of magnitude" more than the previous four games: Astropop, Bejeweled 2, Feeding Frenzy and Zuma.
Despite this, Chouteau was clear that the developer wouldn't be catering for one specific audience, believing that simple games can help to grow the market, as well as appeal to the underground gamers on the console.
"We would argue that hardcore gamers are still gamers. They enjoy games. While some of the most avid might look down their nose at games like Bejeweled, a significant number still enjoy these games as a break between Halo matches or other similar games."

Microsoft has confirmed to the US press that Tenchu 360 will be available on American shelves sometime this year.
It's being tentatively called Tenchu Z, though any other concrete details are mysteriously scarce. Hidden, you might say. Waiting to pounce.
The game, developed by From Software, was released in Japan last October. It's the largest title of the eight-strong series and allows you to create your very own ninja, building your own skills rather than choosing from a pre-set template.
There are more than 50 missions, and you'll have to use all manner of items to survive, including grappling hooks, ninja stars, potions, and bombs.
There's no word on a European excursion; we're crossing our ninja-slippers in anticipation.

RedOctane's head of publishing says we can probably expect to see songs from the original Guitar Hero made available for Xbox 360 owners to download when Guitar Hero II launches on the Microsoft system this spring.
"While the songs that will be available for download through the Xbox Live Marketplace have yet to be confirmed, we can assure our fans that they can likely expect to see these songs," Dusty Welch told GameSpot.
"Through the feedback we've received from fans and from reading the message boards and other forums, we know that this is what everyone wants because of the awesome set list from some of the most legendary rock bands and artists ever!"
Welch also spoke out about the decision to pass Guitar Hero development onto Neversoft, although - come to think of it - he didn't really say anything substantive.
"Neversoft's extensive resume of successfully developing blockbuster franchises speaks for itself. Sales of the Tony Hawk franchise exceed more than $1 billion worldwide.
"With such an amazing track record, we're confident that their team of passionate developers will take Guitar Hero to another level in terms of the overall gameplay experience," he oozed.
And of course the series' gameplay will remain distinctive and blah blah blah. The real question is, what are Harmonix up to? Welch isn't prepared to say, or to comment on speculation that the developer's sale to MTV had something to do with its sidelining.
"In looking toward the future, we believe it was a natural and neutral decision for us to look at other opportunities. We look forward to partnering with Neversoft's development team, and can't wait to show our fans what we have in store for them," Welch concluded.

Our partners in crime at Edge magazine have internet-ised a splendid feature on their recent visit to Halo developer Bungie, and what stands out the most is technical lead Chris Butcher's comments on his disapointment with Halo 2:
"We had about four to five weeks to polish [the first] Halo at the end. No more than that. And that last five per cent is responsible for 30 per cent of the success of the game, or more," Butcher tells Edge. "The entire game came together within that four- to six-week period.
"One of the things that stuns me when I think about it, and I can't believe this is true - we had none of that for Halo 2. Take that polish period and completely get rid of it. We miscalculated, we screwed up, we came down to the wire and we just lost all of that. So Halo 2 is far less than it could and should be in many ways because of that."
He continues: "It kills me to think of it. Even the multiplayer experience for Halo 2 is a pale shadow of what it could and should have been if we had gotten the timing of our schedule right. It's astounding to me. I ****ing cannot play Halo 2 multiplayer. I cannot do it. And that's why I know Halo 3 is going to be so much better."
Good news then for fans who felt that Halo 2 was a little unpolished compared to the first game - hopefully this means Halo 3's ending won't be as anti-climatic as the Keeley Hazell sex tape.
