Xbox 360 Guitar Hero kiosks should be showing up at your favorite electronics retailers around the country as we speak. This shot was found on Flickr by the folks over at Xbox Collector.
What this means is that you'll finally be able to play Guitar Hero II for the PS2 in the store, as that one creepy guy who always seems to be at Best Buy moves over to the 360 version to get a leg up on Possum Kingdom and Heart-Shaped Box.

It seems that Microsoft have bent space and time around their stringent guidelines and allowed the 360 version of Armored Core 4 to support the Regulation system from the PS3. The Regulations are, basically, selectable patches that change the balancing of the parts and abilities within the game. The reason why they were selectable on the PS3 version was down to the conflicting (and highly subjective) whinge-o-thons by Armored Core players on the previous games. People, with a highly developed sense of self-denial, weren't able to look into the abyss of their wussy gaming skill and subsequently blamed "unbalanced parts" as a cause of their multiplayer demise. The Regulations allowed various players to choose which type of parts balancing they preferred, thus deftly sidestepping their carefully layered psychoses.
The 360 version will receive all three of the current Regulations (1.10, 1.20 and 1.30) on the 3rd April at about 8pm (Japanese time). Whether these Regulations will get a Western release hasn't been specified (though I am assuming it to be highly likely).

The brilliant minds over at THQ clearly don't have enough to do - either that, or they've been staying up way too late and getting far too little sleep. How else does one explain the fact that they've randomly sent over this video of a created character who looks remarkably like Donald Trump beating the hair gel out of a Vince McMahon lookalike. We can only hope this is the first of many. Hey THQ - may we suggest Crazy Bald Britney vs. Hot Young Jailbait Britney for the next one?
Granted, if you don't know who Trump or McMahon are, this will not interest you. But if you don't know who these two are, it's most likely because you are a goldfish, and a goldfish that knows how to operate a mouse and keyboard like you obviously do is destined for bigger, more lucrative things than just browsing the internet. So journey on, scaly brother! And when you're famous, please remember us as we are now - watching this movie of two virtual humans thumping on one another, and then clicking the Movies tab above to see it bigger.

Last week was all about Sony as it launched its much-delayed PlayStation 3 in Australia. This week, Microsoft is attempting to take back some of the attention, confirming that the newly announced Xbox 360 Elite will indeed be coming down under in 2007.
Microsoft Home and Entertainment Division Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand David McLean said that the upgraded version of the 360 would be coming in "winter" this year, but declined to give more specific details. McLean also declined to disclose an Australian price.
"It's too early to announce price. We are really trying to gauge the market size for it, so when we launch we will launch with a limited number of units," he said.
McLean was happy, however, to unveil the latest sales figures for the Xbox 360 in Australia. The 360, which launched on March 23, 2006 (exactly one year earlier than the PS3), has now sold 157,000 units locally. More than 800,000 units of software have been sold, making for a software attach rate of just over five per console.
"In terms of the first year, we're delighted with the numbers and delighted with our share, and extremely delighted with our software attach because no one is competing with us there at the moment," McLean said.

High street retailer HMV has told Eurogamer this morning that the Xbox 360 Elite will probably launch in late summer in Europe.
"All we understand is that it's at some point perhaps around the late summer, but we don't know anything beyond that," a spokesperson for HMV told us.
"We're expecting the product to be sold in sooner rather than later, and obviously at that point we'll have a fuller idea of all their launch plans, precise timings, pricing and everything else from a retail point of view we're likely to know."
The comments support those made by Albert Penello, director of global platform marketing for Xbox, who expects the unit to ship outside of America in the late summer.
Microsoft told Eurogamer this morning that it was still waiting for confirmation on a European launch date, clearly awaiting word from the big cheeses in America.
If you've not caught up yet, Microsoft finally confirmed the existence of the black Xbox 360 Elite this morning, which will sport an HDMI port and 120GB hard drive.
It's launching in the US on 29th April for US$ 479, and will include HDMI, component and DS cables in the box, as well as black peripherals to suit your styling needs.

Here's an interesting one. It appears that a newly-elected mayor is trying desperately to restore order to the "notorious inner-city barrio of Tepito," but rather than raiding gang hangouts and throwing 'em all in the slammer, the Mexican government is looking to reward them. In a presumably last ditch effort to curb gunfighting, officials are offering up computers ( reportedly worth $769) to gunslingers who give up a "high-caliber weapon such as a machine gun," while folks coughing up smaller artillery will be blessed with an Xbox console. Notably, the effort is already seeing minor "success," as some 17 guns were turned in on the program's launch day alone. Look, we know it's a hard choice between gaming and booze (and hair, for that matter), but we seriously doubt that turning citywide bullies into hackers and couch potatoes is the ideal solution here.

US Xbox 360 owners will see a slew of new video content hitting Xbox Live soon, thanks to the signing of six new content providers.
A&E Network, ADV Films, National Geographic, TotalVid.com, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have joined the list of providers to offer HD media via the online download service.
Paramount pictures will offer high-definition versions of Braveheart, Team America: World Police, World Trade Centre and one of our favourites, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
In addition, Warner Bros. will make available its 'direct-to-video' movies simultaneously with their DVD release. Sublime and Babylon 5: The Lost Tales will be among the first titles to arrive from the studio.
We're particularly excited about what could come from ADV films, being a massive distributor of Japanese anime.
"With more than 300 games expected by year's end, an Xbox LIVE community of more than 6 million people and a growing catalogue of premium content from some of the biggest names in entertainment today, Xbox 360 is an incredible value", said Microsoft boss, Peter Moore.
"Adding partners and content like this helps reinforce the console's position as the center of connected entertainment in the living room," he added.
While it has not been specified when this video content will be made available to UK, we hope it will be some time soon, hopefully along with the Euro release of the beefed-up Xbox 360 Elite, which is also awaiting a UK date, as we reported earlier today.

Microsoft has assured us that the Xbox 360 Elite won't take over from current Core and Premium packs, saying it's about offering a further option to gamers.
"Both the Premium Xbox 360 and the Core Xbox 360 are very important for offering you as much choice as possible when buying an Xbox 360. The Elite Xbox 360 does not replace either of these", Mike Newey, Platform Marketing Manager, Xbox Europe, has explained.
He continued, "...rather, it offers a further option for the kind of gamer who wants the biggest possible hard drive, HDMI connectivity at a great value price."
Although Xbox 360 Elite has only been confirmed for the US so far, Newey said that Microsoft is "definitely committed to bringing the Xbox 360 Elite to Europe". But he can't offer further information on this at this time.
Xbox 360 Elite, which is decked out in black and features a 120Gb HDD and HDMI support, launches in the US on April 29, priced $479.99. A 120GB hard drive will also be sold as an add-on for $179.99.

A UK online retailer briefly listed a brand new Prince of Persia game, with what is presumably it's new moniker.
Blink and you will have missed it. But there are some internet ninjas out there that don't miss a beat.
Although the listing for the Xbox 360 game has now been taken down, you can expect the new PoP game to be called something along the lines of Prince of Persia: Ghost of the Past. So either a prequel to the recent trilogy or a baddie from teh past rears his ugly head?
Play may have taken down the listing as soon as it went up, but Google can't be cheated. It knows EVERYTHING!
We'll be in touch with Ubisoft later this morning.

We're finalising the update to Worms for XBLA which fixes a few issues (the major one being a problem with 4-player games crashing - although this is currently eased if the host waits for 10-20 seconds until the audible 'beeps' of other players trying to join stops). This update has to go through another certification loop before we can release it. I'll post again when there's news on when that might be, but these things tend to take a little bit of time.
We've also fixed a couple of exploitation issues that have been brought to our attention and also a couple of silly things that crept through the testing net. I'll post a full list when the update goes live (I don't wish to point out some of the exploits!).
Downloadable content is coming soon too, the first lot should include a new theme, a bunch of audio we couldn't fit into the 50mb limit (present at the time we did Worms and recently raised to 150mb), a stack of additional voice-banks and the usual themes & gamer-pics.
By the way, we've had people grumbling about the word-filter on the game, we'd like to point out that this is Microsoft's not ours! :-)

With a pint of Guinness in his (virtual) belly, Crackdown producer Phil Wilson reluctantly braved a swarm of fanboys eager to squeeze his brain empty of downloadable content details. Wilson's tight-lipped policy didn't last long, and he was quickly charmed by the Eurogamer forum rats, already dropping hints in his first response (a question about aircraft): "airborne antics [are] definitely not off the table going forward."
What we know is that Realtime Worlds has created several competitive multiplayer modes, with one being optionally cooperative. Apparently, one of the modes was inspired by a user-created video posted online (GASP, Game 3.0 on Xbox 360?!). Wilson suggested that the creators would "eventually" be credited for the idea, adding that many of the videos popping up on YouTube (particularly this one) had impressed the development team. The new modes will likely be limited to two players, though Wilson teased that "the prospect of mass co-op is definitely an exciting one."
Wilson also confirmed that a free update will include a 'reset gangs' option, eliminating the frustrating need to delete the game data (or your Gamertag) from the hard drive in order to start over. Wilson apologized for the oversight and added, "while I'm spilling beans, there's also another great mode that I'm pretty sure is also kinda what you're asking for but a whole lot more -- so I hope that goes some way towards compensation." Could you be anymore vague?

Wistron, the Taiwanese device manufacturer currently producing Xbox 360 units for Microsoft, is likely to halt production of the console during 2008, according to a report in the Economic Daily News.
The company is likely to discontinue manufacturing of the console due to the decline in profits and because Microsoft has partnered with rival manufacturer Celistica, reports DigiTimes.
Production of the Xbox 360 currently accounts for around 10 per cent of Wistron's business and it is thought halting production will not have any serious impact on the company.
Wistron is expected to record revenues of TWD 280 billion (EUR 6.34 billion) in 2007.
As well as Wistron and Celistica, Singapore-based Flextronics also manufactures the Xbox 360 for Microsoft.
Microsoft was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.

A new Halo 3 update from Bungie splurged onto its website features a heaping helping of information on the sequel's M12 Warthog vehicle.
"The M12", the developer says in its description of the vehicle, "is primarily used in a scouting capacity, or as an integral part of a mechanized infantry unit. In the case of the LRV and LAAV variants it can hold three soldiers including the gunner.
"The mounted weapon includes a battery for short term operation separated from the vehicle, but normally operates on the vehicle's power supply. The vehicle is powered by a 12 liter hydrogen-injected ICE and can reach speeds up to 125 kph (78 mph)."
M12 Warthog weapon statistics, field use and observations of soldiers about the vehicle are additionally included in the update, along with one of those QuickTime 3D screenshots thingies.

We've got a couple spy shots hot off the production line in China of the Xbox 360 Elite. They were taken with a cellphone so the shots aren't of the highest quality, but they get the job done. The site hosting the thread is TGFCer, which stands for "TV Game Fans Club", and according to our tipster, is one of the biggest Chinese bbs for video game enthusiasts. A later shot was provided of the top of the hard drive, and you can barely make out the "12" in "120G HDD" due to over exposure, but with some Photoshop wizardry (Command+I, or Control+I for PC users) we were able to get the text to become more apparent. .
Another reason we're including the inverted shot is because we're running on dual monitors, and on one the normal shot displays the text best and on the other the inverted shot displays the text best. This way, at least one of them should work for you.
