Those of you still playing Bizarre Creations' fairly decent rhythm-action game Boom Boom Rocket will soon be able to play along to it with guitar and dance mat peripherals. Wicked!
An upcoming patch adds support for both, and also makes a number of changes and tweaks to the scoring system and leaderboards, eliminating a few bugs in the process. It's all passed certification, which means it "won't be too much longer now".
"We're really happy that this update is finally going to see the light of the outside world, and we'd like to thank the Boom Boom Rocket faithful for sticking with the game through thick and thin," says Bizarre's lovely website.
So what's it like playing BBR with a dance mat? Well, as you can see on YouTube, it's very ridiculous. Check out our Boom Boom Rocket gamepage for the review and all the other jazz you've come to expect.

Microsoft suit with a made-up name, Mindy Mount, has said the Xbox 360 will be around for years.
Suggesting that maybe it chopped the head off Xbox a little early, she told a group of intimidating money people that they need look no further than the PS2 for inspiration.
"Look at the PS2; they've gone a long-time and seem to have pretty good legs on what they are doing," Mount spouted at a conference on interactive entertainment earlier in the week (reported by Reuters).
"If we were able to do that, as CFO I think that's great, because every year you draw it out you increase profitability."
The Xbox was thrown in the bin when Microsoft launched the 360 in November 2005. However, playground rival Sony made no such move, and we have seen an almost renaissance-like period for the PS2 in 2007, with strong releases like Okami, God of War II and Final Fantasy XII.
So popular has its old darling remained, it has lead observers to speculate that it was why Sony decided to remove backwards compatibility from the PS3. And a quick glance at the freshly announced and redesigned PS2 with built-in power supply adds considerable fuel to that fire.

Microsoft has officially announced a new parental control feature, the Xbox 360 Family Timer.
The Family Timer will enable parents to set the appropriate amount of gaming and entertainment time for their kids, on a daily or weekly basis.
"As a leader in interactive entertainment, it's Microsoft's responsibility to provide parents with tools they can use to manage their children's video gaming and online experiences, and we have made that a priority from the very start," said Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft.
Similar to its Windows Vista counterpart, the new Xbox 360 Family Timer can restrict children's activity time and can be set on a per-day or per-week basis. Helpful "notifications" will appear to warn the gamer that the session is nearing the end and the feature will automatically turn off the console when a pre-determined time limit has been exceeded.
The Family Timer feature will be available for download via Xbox Live in early December.
According to Microsoft, Xbox was the first videogame and entertainment system with built-in parental controls for both online and offline use.
"We've seen a tremendous response to the robust parental controls offered on Xbox 360 and Windows Vista, and the Xbox 360 Family Timer will continue to deliver on our promise to provide safer, balanced and fun entertainment for everyone," Bach said.
"Professionally, I am proud of my division's work in this area, and personally, as a parent of three school-age children, I know how important it is to be engaged in an ongoing dialogue with my family in order to uphold our household screen time rules."

Microsoft has said that it hopes the shelf life for its Xbox 360 will be longer than five years – the lifespan traditionally associated with a home console.
The console manufacturer dropped support for the original Xbox once it had released its successor in late 2005 – only four years after the launch of the original machine.
Speaking at a BMO Capital Markets conference, Mindy Mount pointed to the success of Sony's PlayStation 2, a machine entering its eighth year on the market.
"Look at the PS2; they've gone long-time and seem to have pretty good legs on what they are doing," said the chief financial officer.
"It we were able to do that, as a CFO I think that's great, because every year you draw it out you increase profitability," reports Reuters.

November 6, 2007 - Electronic Arts confirmed today that it has closed its 150-employee Chicago studio as part of its overall restructuring plan to trim about 350 jobs and return to profitability.
In a memo sent to studio workers, EA president Frank Gibeau gave kudos to general manager Kudo Tsunoda but said that, despite its rising costs, the studio was not on track to be profitable until 2011.
"Within the EA Games Label, we are committed to running each franchise and facility as a city/state, teams with unique creative identities as well as responsibility for product quality, ship dates and profitability...." Gibeau said. "Unfortunately, EA Chicago hasn't been able to meet that standard....Closing EA Chicago is the toughest decision I've made in my career - one that in no way reflects on the talent and dedication of the people who work there."
Notable games developed or under development at EA Chicago include the Def Jam series, the Fight Night series and an upcoming Marvel fighting game. The Fight Night series has already been moved to an EA studio in British Columbia, but EA spokesman Jeff Brown told IGN the company is not yet making any announcements about the future of the Def Jam or Marvel games.
IGN attempted to reach Tsunoda by e-mail but had not received a response at the time of this writing (the studio's phones are already disconnected). Despite the closure of his studio, the industry vet isn't out of a job at EA.
"Kudo is one of the brightest visionaries at the company, and he's got no shortage of offers to work at other [EA] studios," Brown said. "He's not decided what he'll do yet."
Many of the Chicago studio's 150 employees will be placed at other EA locations, and those who are not will receive severance pay and help finding another job.

Yes thats right, those $90-99 players were capable of selling OVER 90,000 units over the weekend! (Their are more because the article states those sales figures are not from all retailers, about 3/4 of them).
The HD DVD format significantly pumped its installed base over the weekend, as dueling store clearances sold an estimated 90,000 Toshiba players, according to sources close to retailers.
That tally covers Friday to Sunday sales of Toshiba’s second-generation HD-A2 model, which Wal-Mart and Best Buy sold for about $99 on Nov. 2. That’s $200 less than Toshiba’s $299 list price and $100 off widespread retail pricing of $199.
The $99 players made up most of the 90,000 units sold, a source said.
Within three days, Toshiba corralled nearly as many sales as the best-selling stand-alone Blu-ray Disc player has sold since its launch. Sony’s dominant Blu-ray set-top, the $499 BDP-S300, has shipped about 100,000 since it bowed this summer.

Microsoft will be treating us all to two new Live Arcade titles tomorrow.
The first is Word Puzzle, which you may remember as Word Search, the game you played at school when you had a substitute teacher step in. The general idea is to scour a grid of letters for words based around a theme, all of which can be arranged horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Word Puzzle will offer 3D boards to spice things up, some word bombs for a spot of literature terrorism, and some special effects to dazzle you when you get things right.
There are five game modes in total and you can switch your Live Vision camera on and use it while playing online against up-to four of your spelling chums. Word Puzzle will set you back 800 points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30).
Next on the list is Switchball, which squashes you into a ball and challenges you to get around various tricksy mazes. To help, you will be able to alter the physical properties of your sphere to overcome obstacles; you can morph into a Metalball to smash things to pieces, charge up as Powerball to make jumps or climb steep inclines, float over obstacles as Airball or pick up speed by zipping around as Marbleball.
It looks very pretty and has five levels to roll around in total, either on your own or in two-player co-operative mode. Tire of that and you can always head online and get competitive with up to seven of your friends. Switchball will also cost you 800 points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30).
Look out for our thoughts on both very soon.

Reflexive Entertainment is working on some sort of mining game for Xbox Live Arcade called Axiom Overdrive. Which is surely a 2 Unlimited song.
We say "some sort of" mining game because Reflexive's launch announcement, accompanied by one screenshot, is billed as an announcement "that the mining colony 'AF128' in orbit about Neutron Star PSR B1913+16 is now in full production".
As a result, "The Axiom Corp. mining company is now preparing for a massive hiring program of O.T.F. pilots." Go on. "Inside the mine, pilots discover side-scrolling, omni-directional, 3D, physics-based job challenges that will push their piloting skills while dazzling their eyes." Aha! You are a description of the game and I claim my five pounds!
Quite when Axiom Overdrive will be released is another thing, but there's an official website to keep an eye on if you're interested. Reflexive's previous games include Wik: Fable of Souls and Ricochet.
Whatever the answer, we probably won't see it this month as Word Puzzle and Switchball are up tomorrow and Microsoft's recent list of future Xbox Live Arcade releases made no mention of Axiom Overdrive.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, a new first-person shooter from Infinity Ward and Activision, is now waiting for you in retail stores, smeared with camouflage face paint and constantly checking its six.
In a departure from its past storylines, CoD4 moves away from WWII and into modern times with a tense storyline about hijacked Russian nukes and terrorists hell-bent on destruction.
"We've set out to create the most intense, visceral experience in Call of Duty 4," said Infinity Ward Studio Head Grant Collier. "From the beginning, our team has been focused on pulling players into an unfolding, well-paced and relentless action experience that includes: fast-roping from attack helicopters in the dead of night; utilizing a camouflage Ghillie suit as you inch behind enemy lines; or being immersed in fun, competitive action in multiplayer that enables gamers to create classes, unlock new abilities and taunt opponents as they level up."
In addition to its campaign mode, CoD4 features a multiplayer mode with a leveling system, a variety of unlockable perks, hot-join and matchmaking, as well as create-a-class and party capabilities. The system allows up to 18-players on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and 32-players on Windows PC.

Microsoft has confirmed earlier reports of a free Xbox Live weekend later this month, 'Xtival 07' which is officially planned from November 23 to 26.
Over the Xtival weekend all Xbox 360 owners with a broadband connection will be able to access Gold account luxuries such as online play.
Additionally, a "full line-up" of Xbox Live events, competitions and exclusive downloads are promised for the weekend.
What's more, it's only open to European countries. No wining, swearing 13-year-old Americans then, hopefully.
"It's great to be able to offer Xbox 360 owners across the region the chance to take part in Xtival '07 for free, sampling all the great features of the Xbox Live Gold service and play against friends new and old alike from the comfort of their living room," said Chris Lewis, Microsoft's VP of E&DD.
Great news for cheapskates then. Perhaps MS might even learn a lesson or two and go PlayStation Network free. Well, we can dream...

Good news tin fans - Capcom sends word that a three-disc Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition will be in the shops in time for release for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The $79.99 (£38) tined edition comes complete with documentary-packed bonus DVD and the first volume of the Devil May Cry animated series (four episodes, apparently) which we've got an inkling might be a bit rubbish, but who knows.
The bonus DVD includes a making of feature, soundtrack extracts, a digital art book, wallpapers, icons and screen savers for your PC. Lovely.
It's out in North America on February 5. There's currently no word on a European release but we've left a message with Capcom asking about one. Lost Planet's tin made it over here, so we're feeling optimistic.
