Call of Duty: Ghosts debuts this fall as the latest entry in a popular series, but our most in-depth look at it so far comes today. On the eve of E3 2013 press conferences Activision and Infinity Ward are giving a preview of what it will be like on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and even on the 122-ft wide screen they'll have in their booth. This is our best look at the game since a brief teaser trailer and word that itsDLC will arrive first on the Xbox One. Other than a look at more next-gen gameplay, it also highlighted new elements like a dog named Riley that will accompany you in single player and can take commands via headset and broadcast video back to the player's character. Video of the preview event and the new gameplay footage are ready to view after the break. Check out a few new screenshots below before you click through.

It's not just the hardware and games that are getting an overhaul in Microsoft's next generation, it's the services too. Today at E3, Microsoft demonstrated the new SmartGlass app compatible with Xbox One. Using Crytek's Ryse: Son of Rome for the demo and running off of a Surface tablet, reps were able to show how real-time info can be streamed to the player on the second screen. This extended functionality also encompasses the ability to start a single player game, setup multiplayer, buy add-on content while in-game and view leaderboard stats, as well as tips and tricks for concurrent gameplay. All of this comes in addition to the video scraping feature, which utilizes Twitch.tv, Microsoft had previously announced for Xbox One SmartGlass -- just as promised.

Hoping you'd get to do some casual game building on the Xbox One? Microsoft Game Studios' newly revealed Project Spark may be for you. It'll allow users to craft their own digital spaces using Kinect Voice controls to add topographical features like mountains, plains and rivers, while fine tuning things with fingers through SmartGlass. Of course, the look of the world isn't all you can manipulate, as Project Spark also lets you create logic and rules for the objects and characters in your personal digital utopia. Oh, and if you aren't planning on grabbing a One right away, the game looks to be coming to PCs running Windows 8 as well.

What could be better than a live action Halo TV-series? Why, a fully fledged next-generation sequel, of course. Microsoft has confirmed that a new Halo game is making its way to the Xbox One, calming the doubts of fans who were concerned that the franchise was shifting to less traditional platforms. According to a Microsoft rep, this next-gen Halo (actual name to be determined) will not only "take full advantage of the power and flexibility of Xbox One," but will also be buffered by MS' cloud computing and, in a first for the franchise, run at a "blistering" 60 fps. Look for it to launch sometime in 2014.

November is still several months away, of course, but that doesn't mean you have to start camping out at your nearest electronics outlet just to get your hands on an Xbox One before the holiday season. Fortunately, a large number of online retailers are already offering the ability to pre-order the $499 console. We received an email from Microsoft pointing us to the page on its own online Store, but companies like Amazon,ShopTo, GameStop, GAME and Best Buy are following suit. So if you know for sure that you're ready to make the commitment, head to one of the above outlets to make your claim.

Once you've purchased that hot new Xbox One, you've got to have a couple of accessories to go along with it. Naturally Microsoft has thought of that, as it just announced a new version of its Play and Charge Kit plus a refreshed Chat Headset to accompany the next-gen console. As with the previous iteration, the Kit bundles in a controller-compatible lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack plus a cable that'll charge the gamepad when connected to the console. Microsoft claims it can juice up twice as fast as its predecessor and is able to keep charging during gameplay or standby. You can either get the Kit by itself or as part of a controller bundle. The Chat Headset appears to be the same as it was before; it's a wired mono headset with wideband digital audio and a unidirectional microphone. We're still looking for details on pricing and availability (plus a picture or two), but we'll let you know more details as soon we do.

The new-look Xbox 360 will retail for the same price as the current machine.
A redesigned version of the console has been rumoured for some time, but it was expected to arrive along with a cut in the machine's selling price in order to target more price-conscious consumers.
However the new hardware will be priced at $199 for the 4GB SKU and $299 for either the 4GB Kinect machine or the 250GB version.
Don't forget that Xbox 360 owners are also due to get two free game downloads every month until Xbox One is released. The first two titles are understood to be Assassin's Creed II and Halo 3.
The new machine has been styled to better reflect the aesthetics of the Xbox One.

June 10th, 2013, 22:59 Posted By: wraggster
Game ownership is a last generation feature, then. Microsoft’s messy messaging over what it will (and will not) allow Xbox One owners to do with the games they buy has been painful to watch, and last week it got excruciating – Microsoft’s trio of attempted clarifications required concerted effort to decode. Strip away all of the ‘benefits’ and corporate doublespeak, and one can catch sight of the facts, and what they reveal about the next Xbox.Never has a console come with more caveats. You can lend a game to a friend for free, but only if they’ve been on your friends list for thirty days or more; Trade-ins will be allowed, but only if game publishers enable them; Xbox One doesn’t require a persistent internet connection, but does require a connection at least once every 24 hours; Kinect isn’t technically always on and listening, but, well, it is always on and listening – for the words ‘Xbox on’.We noted before the console was finally revealed last month that Microsoft’s silence had been damaging; by talking in riddles around the more controversial aspects of its next console, it has confused and angered a considerable proportion of the faithful games players it has built its business on.Perhaps the biggest problem has been Microsoft merely explaining what its policies are, without detailing why they exist. In short, always-on will help protect Xbox One from piracy, and game licensing will ensure that trade-in revenues return to developers and publishers, rather than retailers like GameStop and Game. This is indeed ‘consistent with the way the world works now’, as Phil Harrison put it to our colleagues atCVG recently. The shift from physical to digital media is turning the entertainment industry into a service, and the likes of Spotify and Netflix have capitalised on that. But videogames are different, and that’s the reason Xbox One is causing such a fuss. The high-end blockbuster videogames central to Xbox One are big, expensive, data-heavy things, best delivered by disc. We’re not ready to switch from disc to digital-only just yet – but when we are, you can absolutely guarantee that Xbox One’s Blu-Ray drive will be the first thing to disappear in the inevitable Xbox One Slim. It’ll remove any lingering complaints over second-hand games, as well as make the console far cheaper.

Game maker coming to Xbox One and Windows 8
Microsoft has revealed a brand new internally developed IP called Project Spark.
The world building title enables users to create their own landscapes and levels. This can be done through a number of voice commands using the Kinect, such as creating a woodlands, mountains, oceans, and setting what time of day the world is set in.
Showing off the game, Microsoft Studios' Dave McCarthy said players can also use Smartglass to further develop the game world on their tablets, where they can edit more specific and minute details of a level.
As well as creating worlds, players can spawn towns and enemies, and create different scenarios for other players, such as a large goblin attack and natural disasters.
Various objects within the games, such as rocks, also feature brains, with players able to change their behaviours and turn them into useful units to defend a town. One example involved turning a rock into a giant mech like robot.
