The new Xbox console will be showcased at Gamescom 2013 this August.
The confirmation did not come via a press release but was instead issued by Xbox EMEA’s social marketing manager Graeme Boyd on Twitter.
“Xbox will be back at Gamescom this August,” he wrote. “‘Next chapter of Xbox gaming experiences’ on show. Can't wait, LOVE Gamescom.”
It marks a return to the event for Microsoft, which has for years been decreasing its presence at the annual European trade show.
And with the New Xbox being shown off for the first time on May 21st, you can expect plenty of next-gen excitement from Microsoft in Cologne.

Rumours that the Xbox 360 successor needs a constant web connection to run are apparently untrue.
After months of speculation - and a coincidental scandal for EA and its Sim City web connection drama - a new report claims to have seen a leaked memo from MS to staff.
And that document says that specific functions including "include, but are not limited to: playing a Blu-ray disc, watching live TV, and yes playing a single player game".
If true, ArsTechnica's report would calm consumer and trade fears that an aggressively online Next Xbox would discriminate customers, especially those with unreliable web connections.
But as Ars also points out, not needing a web connection for the above functions doesn't answer all the questions about an always on connection.
For one thing - will users still need to connect their games to the internet for pre-loading and first-play installation/verification?
Ars says: "How far this offline support will extend still isn't clear. It could take the form of a fully offline mode akin to that on the Xbox 360 (insert optical disc, install game, play, all without an Internet connection) or it could be more like Steam (install and activate online but enable subsequent offline play once this has been done)."
The latter point would certainly still suggest that the device's strategy is designed to curtail the pre-owned software business - although if that is still part of the plan, that decision will prove very unpopular with specialist games retailers.
Previously, leaked text from the new device's development documentation said: "Every Durango console will have a hard drive, although its exact capacity has not been chosen. It will be large enough, however, to hold a large number of games. All games will be installed on the hard drive. Play from the optical disc will not be supported.
"Durango consoles will have a Blu-ray Disc drive. Disc media will be used for distribution, but during gameplay games will not use content from the optical disc. An installation system is being designed that will allow gamers to begin playing while the game is being installed on the hard drive rather than waiting until installation is complete."
That suggested a switch to a new model of software licence ownership - not reliant on phyiscal disc ownership - for the new console.
We might get clearer answers when Xbox reveals all about the new console on Tuesday, May 21st.

After several months of development we can now tell you that our new exploit for phat consoles is about to be launched.
QUICK FAQ:
- R-JTAG comes in two flavors – a starter kit and an ultimate kit with all the bells and whistles
- The first release will support Zephyr, Opus, Falcon, Jasper
- There will be a Xenon only version
- Boot speeds are similar to JTAG and RGH1 (from instaboot to 10 seconds)
- Full POST Monitoring with RATER and JRP v2
- Dual Nand works fantastic with the DemoN – especially for Stock / Hacked Nand setups
- No more need for RGH1/RGH2
- Works on the very latest dash/kernel versions
- Solid, reliable booting
Some comments posted by testers on the forums……..- There are a extremely large portion of instant boots! considering RGH1 and RGH2 were beyond useless on this console – Its fu##in awesome!
- My Jasper has never taken more than 15 seconds to boot. I've been using it for months now with an older, unrefined version of the hack. So yeah, its pretty good.
- With RJTAG Falcons are now more reliable than Jaspers…..again. We're back to RGH1-type days.
- My Split CB Falcon would never boot with RGH2 – it now boots between 7 and 15 seconds every time
- Jasper 512 .. wouldn't boot at all with RGH2 – now check out my these Rater timings with RJTAG – WoW

The RGLoader-dev Group has released an update to RGLoader to support kernel 16202.
Well, here we go again this release intended to satisfy 16202 demand while we work on the next great thing and of course because the "Cool Kids" started taking tydye's incomplete patch release, merging fs, and calling it their own version of rgloader, and lastly because it was long past due anyway

IF THE LAUNCHER CRASHES ON YOU, UPDATE TO .NET 4.5! This usually happens for non-english language packages.
Compatibility
-Xenon Jtag 16MB
-Zephyr Jtag/RGH/RGH2 16MB
-Falcon Jtag/RGH/RGH2 16MB
-Jasper Jtag/RGH/RGH2 16MB

Downloadable content for Dishonored, previously only made available as pre-order exclusives, are being gathered and sold in a DLC pack set to arrive later this month. 'The Void Walker's Aresenal' downloadable content bundle will arrive on May 14 for $4 (320 MS Points).
The Void Walker's Arsenal includes four different bone charm bonus configurations, each designed to support a certain style of play: the Acrobatic Killer pack is for nimble assassins, with boosts to drop-down kills and increased dodging ability; the Shadow Rat pack is more for stealth, with a bonus that dampens noise when you break glass; the Backstreet Butcher pack aids in more direct conflict, providing greater whiskey bottle explosions and advantages when sword-fighting; and the Arcade Assassin pack is for mystical murderers, with increased power damage and duration.
The Void Walker's Arsenal will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. European PS3 players will have to wait until the following day, May 15. The full list of included content in the bundle pack is listed after the break.

Rambo: The Video Game developer Reef Entertainment has detailed its upcoming licensed game as well as finally shown off its rendition of Rambo. We're not sure why he's wearing a dress, but it's a nice change of pace from bulky space marine body armour, so we'll take it.
Based on the first three Rambo films, the game will be constructed out of cover-shooting, stealth hunts and QTE fights. Additionally, it will feature multiple paths, mini-missions and more than 35 enemy types.Curiously, it will have boss fights. I'm not sure how that's going to work as last I checked I don't recall Lieutenant Tay injecting a super serum to make him ultra powerful like most human video game bosses, but why not?Rambo: The Video Game is due out later this year on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Microsoft will offer its next-generation Xbox for around $300 with a two-year subscription fee, it has been reported. The platform holder will utilise a two-tier pricing system; a one-off payment of $500 or, taking cues from the mobile phone business, an initial charge of $300 subsidised by a 24-month commitment of $15 per month - which includes Xbox Live - according to respected tech blogger Paul Thurrott.First rumours of a next Xbox subscription model emerged in early April when alleged insiders leaked Microsoft's plan.Thurrott followed up with a later report, more specifically pricing the monthly fee at $10 per month. But in a Twitter post earlier today, Thurrott issued a correction to that report. "By the way, I did screw up one thing: The $299 version of Xbox v.Next will come with a $15/mo XBLG subscription, not $10," he said.Microsoft will reveal its new console at a special event on May 21, although there's no guarantee it'll confirm final pricing on that day.Microsoft has pledged to showcase a "full line-up" of games at its pre-E3 press briefing on June 10.

22Cans boss hopes Microsoft doubles-down on gaming machine
[h=3]22 Cans[/h]
[h=3]Microsoft[/h]microsoft.com
22Cans creative director Peter Molyneux believes Microsoft's next Xbox should concentrate on doing what consoles do best: playing games. The former Microsoft creative director told IGN that all the additional media and social features tend to confuse a console's focus.
"I think, for me, it's very simple with the Xbox; I just want the ultimate gaming console. Okay, there's a lot of things they could shove in that box which are kind of about the living room: Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, and stuff like that. Well, I don't want any of that. I just want the ultimate gamer's device," he said.
"The big question left in my mind and lots of people's minds, I think, is are they going to be saying this is the ultimate gaming console or this is something everyone should have in their living room? Because those two messages...trying to mix those two messages may just end up confusing people. But if anyone can get that message clearly across, they can."
"There's always this talk about making consoles 'input one' on the TV. It's the fight over moving from it being your Sky box to your Xbox or PlayStation 4, and for me, as a gamer, I don't want that. I want my 'input two' to be my games console, and I just think all that stuff tends to confuse it," he explained to Edge.
Molyneux left Microsoft in March of 2012 to join 22Cans. He has some insight into Microsoft's plans due to his time there, but he's currently just an interesting bystander in their coming reveal of the next Xbox.
"Well, it's a weird one for me because of course I was there and I knew what the original plans were, and that's a year old now. It'll be fascinating to see how much they've stuck to those original plans and how much they've deviated," he told IGN.
"I'm sure they'll have put a lot of time and thought and rehearsal into that press briefing, but I'm going to be fascinated to see what the hardware is, and how it will fit into this new world that we're in now - this new world of hyper-connectivity, of super-portability. Or whether they'll double-down and say 'you know what? We are the games console, and that's what we define ourselves as' and say [they] don't really care about hyper-connectivity or hyper-portability. It'll be fascinating which way they jump," Molyneux said to Edge.
Despite having little to do with his former employer, Molyneux may be making an appearance at the Xbox reveal event on May 21. He insisted to Eurogamer that he won't be coming for Microsoft or stepping up onstage at the event.
"There's this opportunity that's come up for me to be involved - it's not from Microsoft by the way - in the Xbox announcement, and I'm probably going to take up that opportunity," he said. "I'm sworn to secrecy here. It should be really good fun, and maybe slightly contentious."

Sega and Gearbox have each dismissed the proposed class action lawsuit over the alleged false advertising of Aliens: Colonial Marines. We reported yesterday that a California law firm has filed a lawsuit against Sega and Gearbox, claiming that the publisher and developer falsely advertised the title through trade show and press demos. It is seeking damages on behalf of game players that pre-ordered the game, or bought it on the day of release. Both Sega and Gearbox have now responded.“Sega cannot comment on specifics of ongoing litigation, but we are confident that the lawsuit is without merit and we will defend it vigorously,” Sega told Kotaku.A Gearbox representative told the same site: “Attempting to wring a class action lawsuit out of a demonstration is beyond meritless. We continue to support the game, and will defend the rights of entertainers to share their works-in-progress without fear of frivolous litigation.”

Tech giant's stock value hits five-year high
The value of Microsoft stock hit a five year high on Tuesday, closing at $33.10.
The new Xbox will be revealed to the public later this month, and it seems investors are betting on it being a hit.
Also bolstering Microsoft's value is the success of its enterprise and cloud service business.
The company posted $6 billion in profits for the third quarter.
In the past investors have been concerned that Microsoft didn't have anywhere to go; the company was the most valuable stock on the market at one point, and it seemed unrealistic to assume further growth.

Former Microsoft creative director says he doesn't need another way to view Facebook
22Cans founder Peter Molyneux has said Microsoft should focus on games rather than pursue a multimedia fantasy with its next Xbox.
Speaking to Edge, the former creative director of Microsoft Studios and Lionhead boss said he is watching his former employers’ movements closely, but isn’t unsure what its intentions are with its next home console.
“I’m going to be absolutely fascinated to see what they finally come out with, because I kind of knew a lot when I was at Microsoft about what their plans were, and plans change and aspirations change,” he said.
“I’m sure they’ll have put a lot of time and thought and rehearsal into that press briefing, but I’m going to be fascinated to see what the hardware is, and how it will fit into this new world that we’re in now – this new world of hyper-connectivity, of super-portability. Or whether they’ll double-down and say ‘you know what? We are the games console, and that’s what we define ourselves as’ and say [they] don’t really care about hyper-connectivity or hyper-portability. It’ll be fascinating which way they jump.”
Sign are increasing point to Microsoft revealing something that is billed much more as a connected entertainment system, rather than a games system. At its E3 press conference in 2012, Microsoft pushed its global TV partners heavily and that was followed later in the year with Xbox SmartGlass, software that allows user to control their Xbox from touch devices.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 5. Ghosts will also be released on ‘next generation platforms,’ Activision confirmed. The new game is being developed by Infinity Ward and will be revealed in full at Microsoft’s next Xbox reveal event on May 21.Activision’s statement also confirmed that the title has an “all-new world, story, characters and experience, all powered by new, next gen Call of Duty engine.”“Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we’re not resting on our laurels,” said Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin. “We saw the console transition as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter for Call of Duty. So we’re building a new sub-brand, a new engine, and a lot of new ideas and experiences for our players. We can’t wait to share them with our community.”Don Mattrick, president of the interactive entertainment business at Microsoft, also commented on the reveal. ”We are consistently thrilled with the overwhelming response received from critics and consumers alike to the Call of Duty series, which has firmly established its home on the Xbox 360 with the game’s largest and most engaged community,” he said. “With Call of Duty: Ghosts, we have no doubt that our longtime partners, Activision and Infinity Ward, will raise the bar higher than ever before for this incredible franchise.”

Another potential name for the coming console touted
A possible name for the new Xbox is currently doing the rounds online.
Fusible reports that Microsoft has been named as the owner of a host of URLs relating to the Xbox Fusion brand.
As well as owning the XboxFusion.com address it also claims ownership of a host of other variations including but not limited to XboxFusion.co.uk, XboxFusion.info and XboxFusion.biz.
The name contradicts a logo that was recently circulated on Reddit suggesting that Xbox Infinity is the branding of choice. Indeed, Xbox Infinity was first suggested as a possible name back in July 2012.

Since we saw Illumiroom at CES in January, the research has come quite a ways. But while it's still a spectacular technology display, don't look for it to pop up in any Xbox announcements in the near future. In fact, Microsoft Research's Hrvoje Benko and Brett Jones told us during a interview that while they have Illumiroom technology working well at this point, they're not likely to even demo it to the public until July atSiggraph.
That's not to say that you're not going to want it. The researchers showed in detail exactly how it works: they use a Kinect to scan your living room, then project a series of "illusions" onto it with a wide-screen projector, getting the colors just right using a technique called "radiometric compensation." The projector and Kinect can be mounted in any convenient spot in the room, like the ceiling or a table. While the technology can be used with other forms of entertainment, researchers concentrated on gaming, since they're able to generate source material that works well with the effects. Some of those illusions include "focus," which displays special effects around the images, "segmented focus," to extend the display to portions of the living space (requiring extra material to be generated), and "appearance," changing the look of your room by giving it a cartoon appearance, for instance. Despite the still-early phase of the research, it's definitely whetting our appetite for more -- and you can see an interview with the researchers, along with a full raw video of the presentation after the break.

When Microsoft piled on the Xbox media channels last year, we didn't realize just how long it would take for some of those channels to come to fruition. We're quite possibly on the cusp of new hardware, and Machinima's app is just now making its Xbox 360 debut. Still, it might be worth the wait for those who live and breathe gaming even after they've set down the gamepad. The app includes the full suite of Machinima channels and their associated videos, ranging from regular shows and specials through to game blooper reels. Machinima is available everywhere Xbox Live is active; if that isn't enough to tide you over, Microsoft is teasing the reveal of a OneBeat electronic music app next month.
