Epic remains determined to bring mods to Unreal Tournament III on Xbox 360, boss Mark Rein telling OXM UK "We'll figure it out.
"We know some of these great mods are going to play a role on Xbox 360, even if we have to get some people and bring them over ourselves," Rein added.
He said similar to CVG on this subject last year, but at the time described this method of mod delivery as a "worst case scenario" and still held out hope that a user-managed way of bringing UTIII mods to the console - as it operates on PS3 - would be possible.
In fact, according to OXM Epic continues to hold out hope, Rein saying that the developer's "cautiously optimistic" that a solution to getting round Microsoft's reluctance to share user-generated content is coming.
But expect this to occur in the future rather than it being an out-the-box feature of Unreal Tournament III on Xbox 360.

It costs 800 Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) and is a an exploration card game designed by German puzzle legend Reiner Knizia.
There is a 60-card pack, and the idea is to mount a profitable expedition to one or more of five lost cities: the Himalayas, the Brazilian Rain Forest, the Desert Sands, the Ancient Volcanoes and Neptune's Realm.
Up-to three of you can traipse around in the Live Arcade version, and Wikipedia thinks each game lasts about 30 minutes.
As always, there will be 12 Achievements totalling 200 Gamerscore points up for grabs.
Look out for our thoughts on Lost Cities very soon.

One particular system update that has been quite popular and long-awaited by fans is an upcoming photon art re-balancing. One of the many changes it will make is to allow all photon arts to level faster than before. Originally this update was scheduled for April 11, however it was later pushed back to April 25. Unfortunately, Chillaura has apologetically made the announcement that it has been delayed once again. The game master is telling fans to expect the update to arrive in the weeks following the end of Maximum Attack G.

We've already seen one hack to automate Guitar Hero, but it had the slight disadvantage of having to be pre-programmed for each song, and even then it was slightly hit-and-miss. Now, a father looking for a way to finally beat his son at the game has taken things considerably further, with his hack actually using the composite video input to determine which notes need to be hit in real time. That, as you might have guessed, is way beyond any notion of practicality, and far outside the realm of the average DIYer's skill level, but it seems like it does indeed work, although there are apparently a few minor kinks left to be worked out.

Things on Wheels is described as an over-the-top racer and it's roaring onto Xbox Live Arcade later this year.
In the meantime, a teaser trailer's revving its engine in our video player on the right. It's not in-game, but it gives you an idea of the focus of the title, which is racing remote controlled cars around your granny's flat (probably) and the park (confirmed).
So it's a bit like ye olde classic Micro Machines, really, and you can be sure that Things on Wheels will feature other remote controlled vehicles on top of the cars. Mind you, with a title like that we were expecting to build our own Wacky Races-style contraptions.
Maybe for the sequel...

No, not audible as in the ability to be heard from beneath the strain of a million screeching iPod fanboys. Rather, the Microsoft Zune is about to be Audible book capable. At least if you believe Paul Thurrott (which we do) and others who have received confirmation from Audible Amazon that the Zune will be AudibleReady "before years end." Of course, it's not official until Ballmer shouts it out in a sweat splashing rampage across stage... but it's close.

Mark Rein has told Eurogamer the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 could feature a special treat for Gears of Wars fans.
"You might want to keep a close eye on the Unreal Tournament 3 disc. There might be something Gears of War 2 related on that," said Rein.
What, though? A new trailer perhaps? "Might not be! Might be. Whatever!"
However, one thing Rein does know is that Gears of War 2 will be a "much better" game than the original. Better than an eight, apparently:
"I think Gears 1 was better than an eight!" he stated. "You get what you get on reviews. If the best games get an eight, I'm OK with an eight. I dig that - horses for courses."
"I think Gears 2 is a much better game than the original, but we'll have to wait and see what the fans and reviewers think," Rein continued.
"I don't want to give away too much information. It's a just better game... We've improved it in many, many ways that'll be apparent before too long."
Unreal Tournament 3 is due out on Xbox 360 this summer and will feature five fresh maps, two new characters and split-screen play from the off.
Gears of War 2 is due out on Xbox 360 in November.

Bethesda Softworks' Pete Hines has told CVG that there are no firm plans for Fallout DLC at the moment.
When asked whether the company was working on DLC for the post-apocalyptic RPG, he said: "It's definitely something we'll look into, but right now our content folks are working on the game itself, so we don't have any time to be looking at what sort of DLC we want to do."
Bethesda's previous game Oblivion was one of the first titles to champion downloadable content through Xbox Live. And it's a given that Fallout 3 will do the same.
Among the releases was the infamous Horse Armour pack, an in-game item which cost 200 Microsoft Points to download.

Grand Theft Auto IV art director Aaron Garbut has said that the developers "never reproduce real world locations" in GTA games because it results in "hollow" environments.
"It's about taking inspiration from real places and producing something that captures the essence of it. We're trying to take our impression of New York and keep it as that, an impression, not a laboured reproduction," Garbut said in an exclusive interview with Eurogamer.
Grand Theft Auto IV's Liberty City location has a lot in common with real life New York - the Statue of Happiness, Broker Bridge, the island structure, and the city's cultural diversity, for instance - but the team stopped short of a facsimile out of a desire for "more flavour" and "more intensity".
"I've seen it in other games that set out to rebuild a city street by street, not only do compromises get made that favour realism over fun but a lot of the life is lost and all that's left is a hollow representation of a real place," Garbut said. "I'd rather have the right vibe than an accurate roadmap."
Elsewhere in part one of the interview, Garbut revealed how development of a GTA game actually begins, and how the character of Niko Bellic took shape. Look out for part two tomorrow.

Epic Games has confirmed that there are currently no plans to release a demo for Gears of War 2 in the lead-up to its November launch.
"[There are] no plans for a demo," associate producer Tanya Jessen told Shacknews. "The reason being that it's been such a fast turnaround. A two year production cycle, for a game of this caliber, is really short.
"Our focus is always on putting out the best possible game we can. Whenever you do a demo, you have to basically ship a whole separate product. As far as our plans after we ship, I can't really speak to that."
So there you are, then. Definitely no demo until after the game is released. Don't expect one after launch either, Epic knows you're all going to be buy it anyway.

Microsoft XNA general manager Chris Satchell has rejected the suggestion that Xbox Live Arcade has lost the initiative when it comes to supporting independent games.
"I think we still get an amazing amount of interest. Normally we have way more interest than we kind of have publishing slots to put things in," Satchell told Eurogamer, when asked whether PS3 and Wii were starting to steal XBLA's thunder.
"And when you think about the community and what we're doing with distribution on XNA Game Studio, nobody is going to have that combo. I don't think anybody has got that level of innovation integrated the way we have."

Kotaku's got a great GTA IV rumor posted at the moment, clipped from a recent CVG print feature about Rockstar's upcoming new megagame Grand Theft Auto IV.
While you should probably take this latest info with at least a grain of critical salt, the original article was originally published under the watchful auspices of Microsoft -- a company presumably in the know as far their own DLC is concerned. The rumor going round is that GTA IV's downloadable "expansion" content (you know, the stuff exclusive to the Xbox 360) will be large enough in scope to constitute entirely new cities. From the article:
"Of course to call games as vastly ambitious as Vice City or San Andreas mere 'expansion packs' seems childish, but nevertheless, the downloadable content coming for the Xbox 360 version of IV has repositioned those games in just this way.
"[GTA IV's expansions] are to GTA IV what Vice City or San Andreas were GTA III. Yes, Rockstar is clearly hinting at new downloadable cities; and the chances of them being London, Vice City or SA again are slim to none. So that's new as in brand new. GTA IV's Liberty City is the beginning. Think about that and be excited."
If true, that'd be quite the coup for Microsoft, don't you think? Obviously at this point it's mostly just speculation, and of course nobody's actually saying whether these new cities will constitute anything more than roadside truck stops and wilderness or whether they'll be as full fledged as New Jersey.
Still, the possibility that the GTA IV equivalent to Vice City could be as simple and direct as a download-only bolt-on to the original game isn't so far-fetched as to be unbelievable. This is Rockstar that we're talking about.

Listen to the silence, let it ring on. Microsoft is said to be releasing a limited edition, Joy Division Zune featuring an adaptation of Peter Saville's pulsating cover art from the band's Unknown Pleasures debut. The launch is meant to parallel the June 10th release of the Joy Division DVD and could, in one fell swoop, lift the Zune above its L-7 image. Then we could go on as though nothing was wrong and hide from these days we remained all alone.
P.S. That's our mockup of what we hope the Joy Division Zune will look like.

Judas Priest will become the first band to make a full-length album available for download on Rock Band, Harmonix and MTV said today.
The metal pioneers' 1982 record Screaming For Vengeance will be released April 22 for Xbox 360 and April 24 for PlayStation 3. Priest's inclusion in Rock Band is welcome news for nostalgic headbangers, but it's not the announcement gamers were expecting.
In June of 2007, when Harmonix first said Rock Band would eventually include full-length downloadable albums, the company announced that The Who's Who's Next would kick off the service. Harmonix went so far as to provide a track list of the landmark 1971 Who record. Today's news release made no mention of Who's Next.
The Judas Priest album will cost $14.99 (1,200 MS points) or $1.99 per track (160 MS pts.). Here's a full track list (all master recordings):
"The Hellion"
"Electric Eye"
"Riding on the Wind"
"Bloodstone"
"(Take These) Chains"
"Pain and Pleasure"
"Screaming for Vengeance"
"You've Got Another Thing Comin'"
"Fever"
"Devil's Child"

Epic Games has finally opened up on the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament III, which is set to ship with exclusive maps and characters that the PC and PS3 versions didn't get.
Although it still doesn't have a firm release date, Epic confirmed at Midway's Gamers Day that the 360 version will contain five exclusive maps, two new characters and it will also include a two player split-screen mode.
It looks like the PS3's user-generated content didn't make it over to 360 then (presumably due to Microsoft's strict closed network approach on Xbox Live), but IGN says all of the downloadable content made for PC and PS3 will also appear on Xbox Live Marketplace.
Look for the first screens and trailer later today when the embargo times out, and our man in Las Vegas stops throwing prostitute cards at the strobing McDonalds sign.
