World War II has had its fair share of videogame representations, but it's pretty safe to say that none have been as insane as Operation Darkness. The game finds Hitler in charge of an unholy and inhuman army and makes use of turn-based strategy RPG mechanics. It all makes sense if you're completely mental.
Operation Darkness is being brought to the US by Atlus soon, but if you can't wait you can download the newly released demo off of Xbox Live to give it a spin. Well, you can if you live in the US or Canada as those are currently the only locations where the demo has been made available.

Microsoft is teaming with the Companions in Courage Foundation to deliver Xbox 360 kiosks to children's hospitals across the country, the company announced today.
Each kiosk will include an Xbox 360 packed with select games, movies and television content as well asaccess to a private network that allows hospitalized children to play games and chat with one another across the country over Live.
The first kiosks will be showing up today at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center of Seattle and the Children's Hospital of Orange County in California. Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft, will even be on hand in Seattle to kick off the giveaway... and perhaps pwn some sick kids at Halo 3?
I kid because I care, seriously. As I've said before, I spent a chunk of one childhood summer in a children's hospital in Baltimore, so I know first hand how important it is to have toys and distractions when your hospitalized for long stretches of time.

Leigh over at Kotaku did some digging around about the rumored Xbox 360 Wiimote, questioning all the parties involved (Microsoft, Rare, Gyration) and discovered some interesting facts. The most important one is that Gyration isn't working on it, but Motus probably is—they already have a precursor to it called the "Darwin".

The first reports of illegal rips of GTA IV appearing online on Xbox 360 have started to emerge – and the game’s presence on a number of gamertags confirms that some are already getting to grips with Liberty City.
Kotaku reports that a PAL rip of the title appeared on newsgroups at 11:50am this morning courtesy of a hacker named iCON.
Once downloaded and burnt onto a DVD, owners of either a debug/test 360 or a modded machine were able to run the code.
The PS3 has to date been more resilient to hacking attempts, so most pirate activity is expected to focus on Microsoft’s console.
Meanwhile, Achievement Point tracking site MyGamerCard.net shows eight players whose profiles show GTA IV activity, VG247 reports.
It has been claimed that the game is already in the hands of a number of retailers, but also that all involved have been required to sign agreements stipulating that the title would not be sold early – or even given to employees ahead of release.

Microsoft has confirmed that downloadable content for Ace Combat: Fires of Liberation will be ready over Xbox Live tomorrow.
The content comes in the form of six new planes. Prices will vary, with the cheapest plane being for nothing and the more costly of the bunch costing 400 Microsoft Points.
Aircraft fans can look forward to using the Typhoon, SU-47 Berkut, F-16C Fighting Falcon, Tornada GR.4 and the Rafale M Idolmaster. We don't understand what any of these planes are. Or if we've even got the names right. But the screenshots look pretty.
Air Combat 6: Fires of Liberation received a nice 8/10 from Xbox World 360, which said: "One of the prettiest games you'll ever see and the best air combat going."

Microsoft will soon need to address the issue of Xbox 360 storage limitations, according to Rockstar president Sam Houser.
Speaking in an interview with 1UP about the hardware difficulties the developer encountered when making Grand Theft Auto IV, Houser stressed that a lack of storage space on Xbox 360 discs and Microsoft's non-mandatory hard drive strategy were problematic.
"One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don't have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It's a slightly bigger DVD disc," he said.
Plus, noted the interviewer, Microsoft doesn't include a hard drive with all 360 models.
"I think that the 360 is going to have to get 'round this issue we're talking about. I can think of various ways they can do it. Hopefully, they're going to adopt one of those in the next year or so, because it's going to become more of an issue. If we're filling up the disc right now, where are we going? It's not like our games are going to get any smaller. I think that issue's on the table with a bunch of games right now. I'm sure they'll come through with an intelligent solution."
Houser is not the first developer to voice concerns about Xbox 360 storage limitations. Earlier this month Rory McGuire, lead game designer on The Bourne Conspiracy, told our sister site CVG that Microsoft should have included a hard drive as standard with every 360.
"In retrospect I wish Microsoft had made the choice to have [mandatory] hard drives like Sony did with the PS3," he said. "Developers certainly benefit [from a hard drive]. If you have a hard drive, the whole game loads faster. Obviously you'll be facing a short install time, but the developer benefits from it and you definitely benefit from it as a player. So I think that was one of the mistakes that Microsoft made with the 360."
Microsoft, however, says it is more than happy with its current SKU lineup, which includes a hard drive-less Arcade unit in addition to hard drive-equipped Pro and Elite models.
"You're a gamer, I'm a gamer, we're connected to Live, we want to download content, so for us, we definitely want a hard drive," Xbox 360 group product manager Aaron Greenberg told Next-Gen recently. "...That's definitely the right solution for us, and frankly for a large majority of our customers. For my friends that want to go online and get the complete entertainment experience, I definitely recommend that they get the Pro or Elite console.
"At the same time, with the launch of the Arcade console this past holiday, you talk to some of our mass market retailers that talk to a very different type of consumer, [and they'll tell you the Arcade model] sold out when we originally launched. They've performed extremely well."

As you may have noticed, Xbox Live has been a little wonky as of late and, according to Microsoft's latest status update, it looks like it could stay that way for at least a little while longer. While the service itself is apparently "up and running," it seems that anyone matchmaking or using client voice communication may "experience difficulties," which is just a little bit more than a minor issue. No word on a full return to form just yet, but it seems that the folks in Redmond are on the case.

If you haven't played Audiosurf, you're missing out on one of the best fusions of music and game since Milon's Secret Castle. After importing any MP3 you like, you're hurtling down a procedurally-generated course collecting and destroying gems, with every twist and turn created by your music. We know, we know, we're explaining it poorly. You really just have to try it.
According to GamesTM, you might soon have another way to do just that. In a feature about Audiosurf, the magazine reported that the game will be available "soon on Xbox Live Arcade." It seems like it would be a great fit on XBLA, so here's hoping we get some more official word soon.

Atari's Virtua Tennis challenger, Smash Court Tennis 3 on Xbox 360, will be perched on UK shop shelves in June.
Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova are two of the 16 stars that appear in the tennis sim, which promises "highly realistic visuals, a host of gameplay enhancements, and online play via Xbox Live."
You'll also be able to create your own players, personalising their rackets, shoes, hairstyles, skin tone and clothing to your liking.
It also hopes to be more accessible than the typical tennis sim with a new gameplay system which "lets all players, no matter what their skill level, benefit quickly from the powerful shots and finely honed skills of the star players."
Six new shots can be viewed - right here.

Criterion will be recalling the "Bogart" software update for Burnout Paradise on Xbox 360 so it can iron-out some frame rate problems.
The developer aims to have all affected patches by Friday, and will replace them with a revised update in about a week's time. Concrete dates will follow on its site.
"Bogart" was expected tomorrow on 360 and PS3. Unfortunately there was no word on whether this issue will delay the PS3 version.
The patch offers a variety of tweaks such as fixing head-on takedowns and eradicating "unfair" low-speed takedowns.

The very first in-game footage from the much anticipated Gears of War 2 is smashing onto the internet on May 9.
Microsoft has confirmed to CVG that gameplay footage from Epic's big sequel will be unleashed on May 9, 11pm Pacific time - that's May 10, 7am here in the UK.
Microsoft has told us: "It will be approximately 90-120 seconds in length", and will "have an intro by Cliff and then show gameplay footage from the campaign". Multiplayer won't be shown.
No further hints as to what might be in the trailer were offered. But at least you'll get to see more than the mass-draw and water-effect demonstrations showcasing the latest Unreal tech at the GDC unveiling in February.
As well as the new plot, the sequel promises to raise the bar even further than the first on a technical front, with "technological advance" on Unreal Engine III.
You know the time and the place. Get those F5 keys ready...

Atari's released pics and details on the Alone in the Dark Limited Edition, which will be released in a "specially designed box" (see pics, obviously).
Joining a figurine of AitD main protagonist Edward Carnby in the edition is the official soundtrack CD, art book and a good old making of documentary. And the game (obviously).
Alone in the Dark is a reinvention of the granddaddy survival horror series and finds Edward Carnby encountering all kinds of nastiness in Central Park. The game's received plenty of coverage to date and a number of rolling demos have shown impressive tech that's been created for the title (view those on our game page).
The limited edition is available in Xbox 360, Wii and PC flavours.
