In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Genesis, Sega made a poll for the next Genesis game to hit XBLA where anyone could vote one time a day.
Among the games you could've voted for were Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi, Earthworm Jim (which was later removed), Golden Axe II, Shining Force, Wonderboy, and the winner - Toejam and Earl.
Now don't worry, Earthworm Jim fans. Gameloft is releasing the game on PSN, XBLA, WiiWare, and mobile phones!
Sega hasn't yet made a comment about it's release date.

Now that NVIDIA is totally free to chat up its Tegra involvement in the Zune HD, it's wasted little time in publishing a list of Zune HD preview locations where you can witness the magic for yourself this weekend. The tour is fairly limited to the big urban hubs, but peep the PDF and see if your friendly neighborhood Best Buy is represented.

Microsoft has allowed the public to get their hands on its new hands-free games controller for the first time.
The US firm showed off the "Natal" technology, designed for use with its Xbox 360 console, at the European games convention gamescom in Germany.
The controller uses a microphone combined with visual and infrared cameras to control the onscreen action.
It was first unveiled at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles in June this year, but had not been on public display until now.
Kudo Tsunoda, Xbox 360's general manager and creative director of Natal, said that as consoles evolved from being a dedicated games machine into "living room entertainment", it was important to develop a new control interface.
"The current controller is a barrier to some people using our console," he said.
"To many users, the vast array of buttons and analogue sticks is plain confusing."
Mr Tsunoda said that Natal would allow casual users to use the console while at the same time delivering "extra fidelity to core users".
Two demos were on show at gamescom for people to try out, including a playable version of Burnout Paradise in which users control cars using an imaginary steering wheel, moving their feet forwards or backwards to control the speed.
Heat maps
At the heart of the Natal system is an infrared sensor that detects a person, their movements and their distance from the sensor.
The device calibrates itself to the room's temperature and then looks for warm bodies around the room.
Clothes, people, size, lighting - we're making Natal so it will work in all conditions
Kudo Tsunoda
Microsoft unveils new controller
Once detected, it scans the person's shape and tries to match it against profiles it stores in its memory. If the person is new, it asks them to create a new profile.
If it finds a match, it loads the person's profile and begins to work out their position. If a person moves towards the sensor they become "hotter"; as they step back they get "colder".
Natal plots 48 different points on a person's body, such as hands, feet and elbows, to create a wire-frame virtual manikin that mimics a person's movements.
Mr Tsunoda said that this means that even if someone - or something - were to move in front of a player, the sensor would not get confused, providing some of the player was still visible.
The system will allow players to automatically log on to the Xbox Live network, which allows players to compete with other gamers across the internet.
It would also monitor and adapt as people change shape, he added.
"If you take a young child, they grow at quite a fast rate," he said.
"However, these changes over days or weeks are slight. So if there are small day-to-day changes, Natal will recognise that and update your profile."
Mr Tsunoda said that because everything was done in infrared, it negated any problems they could have encountered with normal light.
"Clothes, people, size, lighting - we're making Natal so it will work in all conditions.
"And, yes, you can even log in and play Natal in the dark."

August 21st, 2009, 16:24 Posted By: wraggster
According to US retailer GameStop, Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 could be the best-selling game of all time.
Although sales were down for the company in the most recent financial quarter, the retailer expects the market to pick up due to a strong release slate in the back end of the year, lead by the Infinity Ward shooter.
"Although we have seen some title slippage, we still see a strong fall line-up, led by Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, and Halo 3 ODST, and expect that Modern Warfare 2 could be the best-selling title of all time," said Julian Paul Raines, chief operating officer, in a conference call to investors.
Pre-orders for the game are strong, said GameStop, with consumers upgrading from the standard and Hardened editions, priced at USD 59.99 and 79.99 respectively, to the Prestige Edition, which ships with night vision goggles for USD 149.99.
"We believe that Modern Warfare 2 has a chance to be the largest title of all time and obviously we are basing that on the reservation activity that we are seeing in our stores, so we continue to see strong reservation activity," added Tony Bartel, executive vice president.
"We have very strong reservations on the Call of Duty Prestige Edition and that’s obviously a price point. There’s a lot of excitement around the goggles on that, so we have a very strong demand that we are seeing in our reservations. Once that was announced, we had a lot of reservations move from the base version to the Prestige version, which is a very good sign."
The company also gave an indication of titles it expects to boost sales in the first half of next year, including Halo Reach, Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5, God of War III, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario Galaxy II, Bioshock 2, Splinter Cell Conviction and Starcraft 2.
"Those are great titles, close to a dozen great titles that we have that will impact us favourably and impact the entire industry favourably in 2010," offered Bartel.
And following a number of high-profile delays, CEO Daniel DeMatteo added that it was unusual for retailers to have a clear indication of titles for the following year, which leads the company to believe 2010 will start with a bang.
"I never remember a time when we had as much knowledge this far in advance of titles that are going to be releasing into the following year," he told investors.
"Many of these titles have moved either because of they just weren’t complete or not ready, which I believe are probably the majority, or some of them may have moved just because of the competition in the back half of the year and maybe the economy."
He also said that hardware sales should start moving again now that Sony has announced a price cut for the PlayStation 3, and the company is assuming that competitors Microsoft and Nintendo will follow by reducing their own hardware.
"The recently announced Sony price cuts and most likely others should get the installed base growing again.
"Historically what has happened is that manufacturers follow the others with a price reduction. We assume in our forecast that some time in Q3 that that will occur, but we don’t have any data on that. We have an assumption it will," he concluded.
The GameStop share price fell by over 7 per cent – just over USD 1.77 – to close yesterday at USD 23.41

Imagine Publishing has posted ABC results for some of its gaming magazine portfolio, indicating a stable performance from its Xbox 360 titles.
X360, the company's flagship Xbox 360 title, recorded a marginally increased ABC of 26,092 according to the latest figures - a 0.1 per cent increase from 26,068 in the six months ending December 2008. Meanwhile its other unofficial Xbox 360 title, 360, saw an 11.4 per cent drop in sales, from 12,939 to 11,518.
With a rise from 13 issues to 17 issues per annum for 360, the magazine still saw an overall sales increase though - with Imagine's combined monthly Xbox 360 magazine circulation now standing at 37,610.
The publisher declined to reveal figures for its Games TM and Total PC Gaming titles, as well as Play, which it says is on a 12-month audit.
"It’s great to see we are growing our Xbox 360 reader base and are still the number one choice for the independent Xbox market," commented Imagine advertising manager James Haley.
"Videogames is a very challenging market at the moment - the closure of Future’s PSW highlights this. Our results are extremely encouraging, offering a solid, transparent platform for our advertisers to showcase their products and engage with their target market at a critical time in the year."
Earlier this month, Future Publishing announced it wouldn't be posting ABCs for the period January - June 2009 due to cost-cutting measures.

Fable 3was confirmed today at gamescom in Germany by Peter Molyneux, Lionhead’s creative director, and will be available on Xbox 360 in the 2010 holiday season.
“We’ve spent a lot of time at Lionhead thinking about how we can innovate the gameplay and progress the world of the ‘Fable’ games for its third chapter, and we’re confident that players won’t second-guess what we have planned for ‘Fable III,’” said Molyneux, . “Though I can’t give too much away right now, players should expect to have to make much tougher choices with far wider consequences than ever before in Albion — and with many more interactive adventure elements.”
In the epic story of “Fable III,” the journey to rule the throne of Albion begins five decades after the events of the last chapter, and you play as the child of your hero from “Fable II.” As you rule your kingdom as king or queen, you will be called upon to make choices and sacrifices that will test your morality and can affect your entire kingdom. Themes of heroism, leadership and consequence are taken to a grand scale as you fight to unite a divided people.
Microsoft and Lionhead Studios announced episodic release of “Fable II” on Xbox LIVE. The launch of “Fable II: Game Episodes” will debut Sept. 29 with the release of the first episode for free download on Xbox LIVE.

GAMESCOM’09: Did excessive stock in the channel cause Microsoft to slam breaks on price cut announcement?
Whilst Peter Molyneux’s impressive Fable III presentation was a pleasant surprise for most at Gamescom, the biggest shock of all was the lowering of the curtains with not so much as a whisper of price cuts or new Xbox 360 SKUs.
Many – including MCV – were expecting Microsoft to announce a price cut to its high-end Xbox 360 Elite, replacing the Xbox 360 Pro in its range of console SKUs.
Some had also predicted a price rise for the Xbox 360 Arcade.
However, MCV was yesterday told by a national electronics retailer that Microsoft was considering delaying the announcement of its price cut whilst it waits for unusually high stock levels of both the Arcade and Elite to clear from the channel.
What is known is that Microsoft has informed retail of a new, as of yet unspecified, Xbox 360 SKU. Whether or not this is the anticipated Xbox 360 Elite price drop remains to be seen.

According to a new reader survey by Game Informer, the Xbox 360 suffers from a whopping 54.2% failure rate. That's an insanely high figure, but I can't say it seems that inaccurate. And you know what? People don't care.
As someone who just got his second red ring in as many years, is it really that surprising that about half of all Xboxes have shit the bed? Personally, I don't know a single person with an Xbox 360 who hasn't had to deal with it, so hell, maybe the 54.2% figure is generous.
Comparatively, the PS3 has a failure rate of 10.6% and the Wii is at 6.8%. But despite these numbers, gamers play the Xbox the most; 40.3% play it 3 to 5 hours a day, with 37% of PS3 owners doing the same. And unsurprisingly, a full 40.4% of Wii owners turn that console on less than an hour a day.
And that's really the big takeaway here. It's not news that older Xbox 360s fail almost inevitably, but it's interesting that gamers have almost accepted that fact and still play the Xbox despite it. In fact, a mere 3.8% of gamers said that hardware failure will keep them from ever buying another Xbox. I guess people just really like their 1 vs. 100.

News via http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?na...ticle&sid=2441
According to logic-sunrise.com (French site) a member of Team XBMC known as Spiff has confirmed a separate team is working on a port of XBMC (XBox Media Center) for Xbox 360 based on the new Free60 JTAG hack released by tmbinc. This comes as no surprise to me since the XBMC project is open source and freely available to anyone who wants to port it. However, in a news update at the original source Team XBMC firmly denies any direct involvement in the project. I find that a bit amusing considering the project origins and the chosen name.

One of the things I appreciated most about my Xbox 360 Elite was that it shipped with a HDMI cable in the box, letting me get the most out of my system's visuals without the need for further expense.
Thing is, I got my Elite years ago. If you plan on picking one up in the future, you won't be so lucky, as several GameStop employees have told us new models of the hardware hitting stores across the US (new box pictured) no longer ship with a HDMI cable. In fact, they don't even ship with component cables either, just some SD composite cables, meaning anyone with a HDTV is going to have to pay a little extra. A HD tax, if you will.
Disappointing, Microsoft. How are you going to help kick the HD generation along shipping composite cables? This was a bum move when Sony pulled it in 2006. Pulling it in 2009 is just...yeah, disappointing.

It's no big secret that NVIDIA's potent Tegra chip will be powering Microsoft's forthcoming Zune HD, but up until now, the former company had been rather quiet about its involvement in the project. Just a few days after the OLED-equipped portable media player went up for pre-order around the web, NVIDIA has stepped in to affirm that its own Tegra processor will be "providing the multimedia muscle in Zune HD." We're told that no fewer than eight independent processors make up Tegra's collective whole, with each one engineered for a specific class of tasks; among them are an HD video processor, an audio processor, a graphics processor and two ARM cores. Each of the chips can work together or independently to minimize power consumption, and the built-in nPower technology is said to optimize system power use and enable extended HD video / MP3 playback time. Sounds good in print, but we've got just under a month to find out how it performs for real.

The latest issue of Game Informer contains a surprising statistic for anyone who's ever loved and lost their Microsoft-branded home console – according to their survey, in which over 5,000 console owners participated, the Xbox 360's current failure rate due to the Red Ring of Death, E74 or other hardware failure is 54.2 percent. They also calculated the relative death toll for PS3s due to the Yellow Light of Death (10.3 percent) and Wiis, due to ... well, we're not actually sure what color the Wii's light turns to upon its demise (6.8 percent).
Unfortunately, for having the highest failure rate, survey participants also pinned Microsoft for having the least helpful customer service representatives. Not that it matters – later in the survey, only 3.8 percent of participants said they'd never buy another Xbox 360 due to its high failure rate.
Speaking of which, we're not sure what future techno-utopia this poll was conducted in, but a 54.2 percent Xbox 360 failure rate sounds awfully low. Had the survey's participants been comprised entirely of Joystiq staffers, it would have been a bone-chilling 100 percent.

While most people were struck with thoughts of the future when Microsoft's motion-control apparatus Project Natal was unveiled, Rare couldn't get its mind off the past. In a recent interview with VideoGamer, 15-year Rare veteran George Andreas explained the device "gives us an opportunity to maybe at some point in the future investigate some of those older IPs."
Andreas was particularly excited about one unnamed Rare franchise which would be "absolutely phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal" if it should incoroporate Natal. He added, "I think it would be an absolutely world-beating product. But we need to explore a little bit more in that direction." Got any ideas? Our money's on Jetpac -- though we suppose a motion-controlled Conker's Bad Fur Day would have its humorous, bawdy merits. Just ... make sure the blinds are closed while you're playing it, okay?
