Bungie is busy getting ready for next month's Penny Arcade Expo, but it isn't going to be revealing any new games at the event. Especially that one Microsoft doesn't want it talking about. This shouldn't be taken to mean that the company has nothing going on. Au contraire. According to its latest news update, the dev has not one but three new games in the works.
"Rest assured that when the time is right, we will be making announcements and talking about the stuff we're currently working on," the post reads, continuing, "At the moment we do have three distinct projects underway within Bungie - some familiar, some not. Some on a closer horizon, some quite far off."
Let's see – one of the games is a new Halo project, but the other two? We'll let you get creative in the comments section. Bonus points if the idea doesn't include pirates, pimps, or flaming ninjas.

Microsoft has confirmed that Silicon Knights' long, long-coming bruiser Too Human will be out in Europe on August 29 - a week behind the United States.
Impatient Americans can get at the 360-exclusive actioner on August 19, after over eight years of planning and development at the Canadian studio (it was originally planned for the PlayStation... yes, the first one).
There's a demo on Xbox Live right now, offering the starting section and opening cut-scene of the game (but no co-op, sorry). We've had a go on some preview code and think it's a pretty enjoyable hack 'n slasher.
Worth ten years of planning though? Ask us again in a month.

Microsoft's very own Mr Halo has told Eurogamer that Bungie's series could soon be getting its own dedicated event to rival the likes of BlizzCon and QuakeCon.
Speaking to us immediately after the Halo Wars and the Halo Universe panel yesterday at Comic Con 2008 in San Diego, O'Connor, who earlier this year quit his post as Bungie community manager to oversee Halo at Microsoft Games Studios, insisted the franchise was "big enough at this point that it can stand on its own".
"You can do a HaloCon. Nothing on [the scale of Comic Con], but you could bring a few hundred people just to see a Halo thing. We're really not worried about Halo's ability to stand out and shine in the future. There's plenty of stuff coming."
While making it clear that no formal planning had yet been undertaken, he explained that the "passionate and loyal community" had made the prospect of a standalone Halo showcase attractive. "We do things for [the communtiy] all the time. Bungie has done fanfests at E3 and it would be lovely to see something bigger, something more ambitious in the future."
O'Connor also moved to play down the furore over Microsoft's decision to pull a new Halo reveal from its E3 conference, stating: "It's E3, it's complicated. You saw the Microsoft press conference - there was a ton of stuff. And someone, somewhere decided strategically that another time is better, and it will be, and there's going to be an announcement and it's going to be awesome.
"Halo gets plenty of attention, and Halo will get plenty of attention if there's any new stuff to announce."
He refused to be drawn on the timing of the announcement, quipping: "I wouldn't know anything about that! Halo can stand out at E3 or stand out at another time." And after a lacklustre E3 earlier this month, which has drawn sharp criticism from across the industry, O'Connor said it was time that consumers were involved.
"E3 is what it is now, but I still think there's space for a really big consumer videogames show. If you look around Comic Con, people are doing business here, people are unveiling things, they're revealing stuff. But the people who are enjoying it are the people we're making the games for, and it's a really unique experience and one the industry could get tremendous value from.
"At E3, the fans are there, they're just using the Internet. Why not charge them an entrance fee and make the thing a profit centre rather than a loss leader?"

Did you ever want to program games for the Xbox 360? Is your budget $0? Then this guide may be for you!
]With the imminent release of XNA Community Games, you may ask yourself, what other legal methods do I have to make games or applications for the Xbox 360? We have complied a list for you along with descriptions and resources for you to use. Enjoy and please leave feedback, of course spread the word!
HDi was previously used with Toshiba’s HD DVD, it was the navigation system many were so familiar with. Yes you too can use HDi to your advantage, although HDi coding is pretty “niche” right now it could grow if the right people get their hands on it. HDi seems to have a lot of potential, its easy to use and pretty easy to port applications too. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone ran Doom or built a NES emulator using HDi.
It gets pretty lengthy so to read the rest, hit the jump!

Final Fantasy WON’T be the saving grace in Japan for the Xbox 360
Final Fantasy does not need to be released in Japan for the sole reason that Xbox 360 in Japan is pretty much the equivalent of finding a VII gaming system in America. In Japan, they don’t want much to do with the Xbox 360. They support their countries products and have no need for a American console with more shoot’em ups that you can shake a stick at.
Final Fantasy 11 was on the 360.
FF11 on the 360 was a joke, as far as I can remember (the beta). The game had a install time that was just ridiculously long. The game was known to have a 6 to 10 hour install time. You could not just set the game to install then go off to work. You would always have to click different things every hour or so. On top of having a install time that took as long as a watching the full Matrix Trilogy + Animatrix. The game did not even support Xbox Live features. You had to use a key board to chat, yes a Keyboard how lame is that. There was away around this, you could still use private chat, on the guide blade to chat with people but its not the same, as being able to chat with anyone you come in to contact with. Now you would think that would be the end of FF11 on the 360. On top of all that nonsense the made everyone pay to play FF11 on top of our normal Xbox live fees. So you pay 50 for live, then had to pay another 11 on top of that…LAME!
Blu-Ray Wont be a issue
Blu-Ray while convenient wont be needed. Many of the same people boasting about blu-ray did not have a problem swapping disc in the last generation. Another thing people forget about is when developers make games the usual practice is three magic words, Compress, Compress, Compress. When game developers put games on DVD’s they use top notch file compressors. On blu-ray there is not need to compress anything. That is why MGS4 took so much space they didn’t need to compress a thing for that game. That move alone paid off look how nice MGS4 came out looking. How many DVD’s would FF13 take up? Who knows, not me. It would not be the first Xbox 360 game to come Multi-disc format, and it wont be the last.
Microsoft Needed to get FF13 on the 360.
No one will deny that the PS3 has the worst lauch in history. I (even being a Xbox fanboy) never thought that the PS3 was a bad system. I figured if the PS3 did well then the 360 would be pushed to do better. And that is exactly what is happening. Sony and MS are feeding off each other right now to push and push to become the best.
Now a days well after the internal launch of the PS3 . The PS3 is doing much better, The reason that it has started to sell is because of the price cuts, two major retailers offered 100.00 USD gift cards for buying a PS3. They also pack in free blu-ray movies and free games, and The PS3 is also the BEST and cheapest blu-ray player out there. It is hard to turn down a deal like that. MGS4 also helped to push some systems for Sony.
Microsoft needed to get FF13 on the 360 not to stop Sony, not to Kill Sony, but to slow there momentum that they have gained over the past few months. I personally know many people who have a 360 and were going to by a PS3 just for FF13, now they are just like “well we can get it for the 360 now” . Will this move work for MS ? Only time will tell.
Well there you go, That is why MS Xbox 360 does not need FF13 to be a PS3 Killer, but it did need it. Now that MS has secured another PS3 exclusive what does the PS3 still offer? First party titles that's about it. Sounds to me like there turning into Nintendo.

Ever since music games became popular, the musician trolls have frequented forums and comment threads everywhere. Typically, these trolls are known for comments like "Yeah, I'd rather play a real guitar, thanks." Imagine then, how strange it must be for real musicians to play fake versions of their own songs. Enter Rush performing the Rock Band version of "Tom Sawyer" backstage at the Colbert Report. To make a long story short, they fail at 36% completion. They don't seem to broken up about it though. Fabulous success can give you that kind of confidence, we suppose.

Don Mattrick has told MCV he is confident that Microsoft 'won' E3 this year - and has even accused Sony and Nintendo of slacking off over the past year.
In assessing his rivals' E3 conferences, he said: "I think we got more than 12 months' work done, and others went on an extended vacation. Hopefully they got some good vacation photos, because they sure weren't showing up at work."
"Of course I'm going to be biased, but so far what I've heard is that Sony and Nintendo have disappointed. And Microsoft has been leading, innovating and driving a very comprehensive global programme."

When a demo is done properly, it can create a lot of buzz around an unheralded title. The early days saw Fight Night Round 3 stun 360 owners with its sharp visuals and crunching slow-mo knockout replays.
Later down the line Civilization Revolution, Lost Planet, Bioshock and Burnout Paradise all had stellar demos that did a great job of selling the game in question.
Sometimes it's too easy for developers to fall into a "here's the boss, now the demo ends" trap. Unfortunately, some developers tend to fall even further. Here are the five most disappointing demos, all notable for the fact that they've turned people off the game rather than onto it. They might be free but sometimes, you get what you pay for...
5. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
4. Sonic The Hedgehog
3. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
2. Too Human
1. Hour Of Victory

When we asked to clarify if he [Microsoft's Don Mattrick] meant Xbox 360's next three or four years of software will outperform PS3's, and that PS3 will be unable to make up the ground, he replied: "That's what I said."
Mattrick famously hung the Microsoft's E3 press conference on the claim that Xbox 360 will defeat PS3 worldwide in this generation of consoles and told Eurogamer that he came out and said it because he was fed up of being asked about it.
"I did the math, I did the math a different way, I did the math...there was no equation that I came to where I got a different answer, and I went, 'You know what? This is getting boring,'" he said. "Like, instead of everyone standing on the sidelines trying to hedge, I'm just going to say it."

Have you ever had that dream where you're running down a hallway but are unable to reach the exit because the doorway is constantly stretching out of reach? For fans of Burnout Paradise for the Xbox 360, this has become a waking nightmare, as Criterion has again pushed back the title's forthcoming "Cagney" update until early August.
Criterion is currently "aiming" to release the free update on August 4, nearly a month after the patch arrived on the PS3. However, according to a post on the dev's website, this merely represents the "earliest" that we can expect it to show up. Interestingly, while the previous hold-up was laid at the feet of Xbox Live's burdensome certification process, this latest information indicates that the update, much like the patience of street carnage virtuosos, is now in the "final stages of testing."

Ubisoft has delayed Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction until its fiscal 2009-10 year. The announcement was made in a financial statement released today. Previously scheduled for a 2008 fourth quarter release, Splinter Cell Conviction was delayed to bolster the publisher's future release list. In addition, the delay also allows more time to work on the game, the latest in the stealth action series.
Ubisoft's fiscal year ends on March 31; hopefully we won't have to wait until 2010 to get our hands on the next iteration of the stealth action franchise.

The recent cull of underperforming titles on Xbox Live was "not a surprise", according to Doublesix's studio head, James Brooksby.
Brooksby told GamesIndustry.biz that Microsoft's decision to delist underperforming titles last month was really only a matter of time, saying "it was going to happen at some point".
"I'm not sure exactly how that system works... but it's not a surprise that it was going to happen at some point, lets put it that way," he said.
He went on to explain how such actions were just the nature of digital distribution, which has a dynamic business model, and that Doublesix is used to dealing with such challenges.
"I think as far as the business models for all of the platforms are concerned they're all changing and evolving very quickly because this is very new for everybody... We're just approaching each new challenge as it comes along in terms of the changing business models and the changing structures," said Brooksby.
"As far as we're concerned it's a very exciting market, I'd rather have it that way than have it very stale and stagnant - the way things have been for some time."
Brooksby's full interview with GamesIndustry.biz is now available online.

The Too Human demo allows access to the other four classes found in the full game, besides the Champion.
To unlock them you need to use a simple workaround found by clever-clogs G4.
Disconnect from the internet and, in the Xbox 360 dashboard, change your console date to any time in or after 2009.
Then, start a fresh campaign in the Too Human demo, and the Berserker and Commando should already be unlocked in the character selection screen.
To access the Defender and Bioengineer, flick the left analogue stick to the right as you select either class by pressing A. When your campaign begins, you will be whichever of the classes you selected.
Too Human is due out exclusively for Xbox 360 on 29th August.

Bizarre Creations has moved the release of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 to next Wednesday. National holiday.
This Xbox Live Arcade sequel will cost 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) and had previously been expected in August.
Retro Evolved 2, unveiled during the Microsoft E3 conference last week, will feature multiple game modes, local head-to-head or co-operative action, and even a co-pilot mode where one person shoots while the other person steers, which sounds rather rude.
There are plenty of new special moves, swarms of colourful shape-shaped baddies, and 1080p even-fancier visuals.
Geometry Wars 2 also has the usual Achievements and leaderboards to prove your thumb-stick abilities to the internet.

It appears NinjaBee is ready to talk a little about its upcoming city builder, A Kingdom for Keflings. Teasing the title in a viral video last month, the company finally gave some details to IGN, details which make the game look and sound like a cross bee-tween SimCity and Gulliver's Travels.
It appears the player takes on the roll of a Gulliver-esque character and must build a kingdom for the Keflings, with the final goal being to create a castle. The game features 50 buildings, a tech tree and optional quests. Isn't it interesting that all the different smaller-scale city builder games, like Hinterland and My Life as a King, are releasing this year?

GameDaily BIZ got some details on the revenue sharing structure of the recently detailed Xbox Live Community Games. While we reported that developers could receive "up to 70%" of sales, Microsoft's Chris Satchell clarified the structure this way: "The better you're doing, the more we'll take." Sure, this sounds pretty cutthroat (newsflash: Microsoft is a business!) but the relationship here isn't dissimilar to traditional retail arrangements.
If your Community Game performs well, it will be plucked from the crowd and placed in the "storefront" where it should enjoy a great deal of promotion and, in turn, sales. Satchell says, "The game will spend most of its time at 70%, but if we're promoting you and you're getting more traffic, there will be a 10% to 30% marketing fee." Once it's out of the storefront – bam! – "you're back to 70% again." In other words, if you want more of your hard-earned ... uh, Microsoft Points to go to Bobby Developer and not Johnny Microsoft, wait until things have settled down a bit and the game has left the storefront for the relative anonymity of the crowd. Then, swoop in, make your purchase, and consider The Man stuck.

Say it ain't so! America's most loyal advocate for Microsoft's Zune is apparently throwing in the towel. Of course, we should warn you that this could very well be a simple ploy for attention, but if the man keeps his word, he will soon be covering his Zune tattoos with... something else. Curiously, he didn't say whether or not he would be playing the traitor card and picking up some sort of iPod, but considering that more people have seen this guy's body art in the wild than actual Zunes, the general public should know soon enough. You fought a good fight, Zune Guy, but consider yourself expelled from The Social.

For hardware, we do expect the Xbox 360 to outsell the Playstation 3 in July; obviously, this can be attributed to the recent Xbox 360 price cut.
In the past, analysts have typically expected sales lifts in the 20-30% range after a hardware price cut; however, we should expect a different trend, as we will likely see more sales front-loaded into July and August as consumers rush to purchase the $299 version before supplies run dry.
While Microsoft and Sony continue to compete in the "who has the biggest hard-drive" contest, we expect Nintendo to continue to win the real contest - selling the most systems

Before they can be sold, however, all games must first pass a peer-review exam to ensure they are of suitable quality. Once approved, creators can set the price of their game between 200 and 800 Microsoft Points, or $2.50 and $10 USD, of which Microsoft takes 30 percent. [50 MB games for 200 Microsoft Points, larger 150 MB games for either 400 or 800 Microsoft Points]
While a game developer will only earn $1.75 from a $2.50 download, the potential sales figures are quite large. Last year, the Ace Combat 6 demo, for example, was downloaded half a million times; comparable downloads at even the lowest price would net the developer $875,000.
