EA Sports announced today that it has released the Fantasy Football Live Draft Tracker a few weeks before its original launch date of July 31 on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. The Draft Tracker allows players to manage their fantasy football team, get live scoring updates on gameday, and import their fantasy team into Madden 09. The only downside is that the Draft Tracker doesn't allow you to do your draft online with your friends. You can sign onto XBL or PSN and upload your drafted team for all to see, but it's impossible to do a live draft with people around the country using the Draft Tracker. Instead the commissioner of your league will need to manually input each team's draftees by hand.
EA Sports Fantasy Football Live Draft Tracker is available now on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network for 400 Microsoft Points or $5.00.

Microsoft has added Double D Dodgeball and Coffeetime Crosswords to Live Arcade.
The first is from wrestling developer Yuke's and recreates the bizarre sport for you and up to seven friends online (split into two teams of four).
You can play in pairs as well, and there are plenty of characters with unique styles plus variations of surface, ball and rules to keep things interesting.
Coffeetime Crosswords, on the other hand, contains over 150 of the popular newspaper puzzles that your dad always used to play and maybe you still struggle to understand but are too frightened to tell anyone let alone him.
You can go at it alone or enlist the help of a friend in co-operative mode. We're not sure if you can do this online, we suppose so.
Both Double D Dodgeball and Coffeetime Crosswords cost 800 Microsoft Point (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60).
We'll bring you our thoughts on these soon - probably after E3 has calmed down a bit.

Shane Kim, vice president of strategy and business development for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment business, tells me that the company has "no interest" in adding Blu-Ray functionality to its console, opting instead to focus on digital distribution.
"I can categorically say that we're not working on a Blu-Ray player for Xbox 360," says Kim. "To my knowledge, we don't have any intent to do that."

Hopefully the days of the RRoD are behind us ... but just in case, Nyko has introduced its new Intercooler TS today. Unlike the old Intercooler, this new model has its own AC adapter and has a temperature sensor which activates when there's rapid change, rather than just being perpetually on and using the Xbox 360's power port. It retails for $25, and the original Intercooler will still be available for $20.

This Wednesday, July 16, an extra game is being thrown your way - IN YOUR FACE! We're talking Double D Dodgeball from YUKE'S on Xbox LIVE Arcade.
This game has everything the childhood game has except having to suffer the wrath of being last picked for a team - that is, unless you have more than 8 people who want to play. Yes, you can play with up to eight people in a four-on-four match over Xbox LIVE. If you prefer a more intimate setting, you can play with as few as two-on-two.
You can choose from various characters who all have unique abilities, change up the playing field with a different surface, change the projectile, change the rules from East to West and more.
Double D Dodgeball can be yours for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.

You may have been following the the teasers Bungie have been droping over the last few months featuring the mysterious "Superintendent". Well things seemed to be building up to a climate on Bungie website, with a splash page counting down to E3. But its seems at the last moment Bungie's publisher (Microsoft) has decided not to reveal Bungie's latest project. This message has been posted on the Bungie splash page:
From: Harold Ryan
Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2008 7PM
Subject: E3 Announce
Over the last several months, we've been building toward a reveal of something exciting that Bungie is working on. We were looking forward to sharing that with out fan community during the week of E3. However, those plans were just changed by our publisher.
We realize that many of our fans are disappointed by this turn of events; members of the Bungie team share that disappointment.
When the right time comes, we look forward to sharing this exciting announcement with you. Until then, we appreciate your continued support and patience.
Harold Ryan
President
Bungie LLC
Is this part of the hype? Seem not. Bungie community lead Luke Smith has confirmed the postponement is legitimate.
When members of the NeoGAF forum assumed it was a joke Smith responded with: "Nope.
Not our style. We already are deeply disappointed with how things unfolded to this point without getting our fans to the intended payoff."

Following last night's shock news that Final Fantasy XIII will release on Xbox 360, VG247 has been told be a very senior UK industry source that an 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4 is "inevitable".
"There's only MGS left now: for a few months at least," said the mole. "It's inevitable. Konami knows how many million they'd sell in the US alone. If FFXIII can make it to 360 when Sony owns nine percent of Square, Metal Gear's a slam dunk."

* Q: One of the key targets for the Xbox project has been to chip away at the platform exclusives that Sony's previously boasted, whether it's the likes of Pro Evolution Soccer, or Grand Theft Auto. Now the Metal Gear Solid franchise has ended, and the Final Fantasy XIII announcement has been made, has that process reached its logical conclusion?
* Chris Lewis: I think you're right in terms of the really significant beats in the business, though I think it would be complacent of us to say that we buttoned that up. Because it's all very well having them, but they've got to play better, the experience has got to be richer.
Take GTA for example - yes, we're genuinely pleased and excited about what we managed to achieve there on what history would frankly say is a very traditional title for Sony as opposed to us. And what we did there in terms of retail, what we're doing in terms of premium downloadable content through the Live service, we're really excited about the fact that we've been so agile in that space.
And as you say, I think you've got to have at least an equal if not a stronger position on those types of franchises. If you are slightly shorter in terms of time in the industry as we are versus Sony - because I think we forget sometimes we've only been in this business for about seven years - and certainly in terms of Europe we have a very high ambition to win in this generation. What we did with the price drop, and GTA, and other spikes in the business - you're going to see us invest in the right and appropriate way to achieve our ambition.
We'll hire the right people, we'll bring the right content, and we'll continue to invigorate the service through Live in a way that nobody else can get close to. And you've got to be at the right price - you've got to do a lot of things well, and that's good for the consumer. You've got to rely on your price, your content, your services and everything else, and I think it's a really important inflection point in the industry at the moment. This Holiday period will be key to that, but we have a low tolerance for doing anything other than winning - it's a fun thing to be involved in, I assure you.
* Q: Are the avatars a direct response to the success of Miis on the Wii platform?
* David Gosen: Well avatars go back to this concept of a social experience on a social network - as I said, 12 million members globally, and we have a very actively engaged member-base. I'll give you an example - every day three and a half million instant message texts or Live Vision events happen on Live every day. Three and a half million, every day.
So we've got a really active community already, and what we need to do is create an identity for those people. Personalisation isn't really new - we know people want to personalise their experience. Now, the avatars we've got are Xbox avatars, and they have arms, necks and legs, which other people's avatars maybe don't.
But that's just the start point. They're appearing in the game, and what you'll see us do more and more is make sure that avatars are truly integral to everything we do. It just goes back to true personalisation and creating a social network that really works and is really relevant to all people.
I was talking to some hard core gamers after the event, and they were saying that they'd use an avatar. And I'm sure that when I talk to my daughter she'll use an avatar. It's about personalising it and making it relevant.

There were a few big things that didn't make the keynote. There still are two big shows for the rest of the year and we might see these at at Penny Arcade Expo in August or Tokyo Game Show in October.
1. Newton : The motion sensitive controller was not shown. It's still a real project that they are working on but perhaps the hardware or games were not ready to be shown
2. Halo Wars : Not only did it get pushed back to 2009 but it did not make they keynote
3. Frankie and Peter Jackson's Halo Chronicles : The Microsoft run project didn't have make a peep.
4. Alan Wake : The Microsoft game studio action horror game was completely absent. That is not a good sign.
5. Blu-Ray : I am starting to think that they might be telling the truth when they say that they have no plans to make a Blu-Ray player for the Xbox 360.
6. IPTV : Sure there was new video parters and streaming Netflix but their previously promise of digital TV via the Xbox 360 and Internet was not there.

It's media mania morning today and we've got a load of screens and videos for Castle Crashers, Braid, Uno Rush and Galaga Legions - four Xbox Live Arcade titles, all here in one easily-digestible package.
Castle Crashers is a crazy four-player shooter by The Behemoth - the guys behind Alien Hominid - that you're probably looking forward to very much.
Galaga Legends is the first proper sequel for the '80s classic, and it's also looking incredible.
Braid is a rather bizarre-looking 2D platformer, with influences from some of Mario's classic outings by the looks of it. And Uno Rush is... well Uno, we suppose, with some "exciting" new multiplayer features to spice things up.

Microsoft has revealed that the 12 million members of its Xbox Live service are hugely active, with 3.5 million communications taking place every day across the network.
"Every day three and a half million instant message texts or Live Vision events happen on Live," the company's VP of strategic marketing for Europe, David Gosen, told GamesIndustry.biz. "Three and a half million, every day."
The revelation followed the Microsoft press conference in which Don Mattrick stated that a new member was joining Xbox Live every five seconds, and that users had spent over USD 1 billion on the service since launch.
"We've got 12 million members," continued Gosen. "We're demonstrating convergence of games and entertainment today - we're demonstrating in Europe more and more local content for video-on-demand coming to the platform.
"Globally we are the largest provider of high definition on-demand videos and TV, so we're doing it today and proving it and setting the bar very high. We'll continue to do that and make sure we create that broad appeal for the broad market."
The full interview with Chris Lewis and David Gosen will be available shortly.

Electronic Arts has released four new screenshots from Rock Band 2, including one that actually shows off the game.
We were trying to guess what the song could be in the game screen, but our musical knowledge evidently needs a bit of polishing.
Lyrics at the top of the shot read "la - ted I've be - come," which means nothing to us. Let us know if you have a clue in the comments. If you need a clue, take a look at the alleged set list that was leaked last week.
The other three images are of the characters that you take control of in the game. They look completely ridiculous, although we know that's the intention.

Namco Bandai Games America Inc. today announced that as a part of Microsoft's E3 "Bringing it Home" campaign, a playable demo for the upcoming role-playing game Tales of Vesperia is now available for download from the Xbox Live Marketplace for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Giving gamers a sample of the renowned Tales series' Xbox 360 debut, the demo is free to all Xbox Live Silver and Gold account users.
Highlighting the 10th anniversary of the Tales series in North America, Tales of Vesperia takes the series into the HD era with cel-shaded graphics that rival traditional hand-drawn animation and an all-new quest of heroic proportions. New features as multi-stage Over Limit, Burst Artes and Fatal Strikes add new strategy and action to the Tales series' signature real-time battles as players direct their whole party to victory. Tales of Vesperia will be the first game in the history of the Tales series to launch in Japan and North America within the same month.
The newly released Tales of Vesperia demo features a full dungeon for players to explore, packed with vicious enemies and highlighted by an encounter with a massive boss opponent. Up to four players can participate in the demo's battles on a single Xbox 360, experiencing the unique attributes of each character in the party.
Tales of Vesperia for Xbox 360 will be available in stores on August 26, and is rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB.

Epic Games has no plans to release a demo of Gears of War 2.
"No, we're not doing a demo," design director Cliff Bleszinski told Eurogamer at a multiplayer hands-on event in Los Angeles on Monday.
"We could do a demo but then Gears 2 would be out in February," he explained.
Gears of War managed to sell over 4 million units despite Epic never releasing a demo, but we always hold out hope for these things.
Still, Gears 2 looks jolly good regardless thanks to a stunning campaign level demo at Microsoft's E3 conference.
We also got the chance to play Horde and Guardian game modes at the Gears 2 event last night and will be bringing you our impressions of those and all the rest from Bleszinski tomorrow.

Microsoft has said Halo Wars will be released during the first half of 2009.
The Ensemble Studios-developed real-time strategy title was a notable absentee from the Redmond giant's E3 2008 press briefing last night, but an updated fact sheet on the game indicates that we'll see the 360 exclusive on store shelves before next summer. We expect to see it in some form at E3 this week.
Set before the events of Halo 1, the game kicks off on the planet Harvest, where the UNSC warship, the Spirit of Fire, comes under Covenant attack following the discovery of an ancient artefact.
Designed from the ground-up for console play, the game's campaign mode will see you order about familiar units and vehicles from the Halo universe including Warthogs, Scorpions and more. During the campaign, you will also be able to call upon "ancient Forerunner technology" to create "unique units".
Online, Halo Wars promises six-player battles and the choice of commanding either the UNSC or Covenant, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Covenant units will include Grunts, Elites, Ghosts and Scarabs. The blighters.
Ensemble Studios is famed for its work on the Age of Empires series, and is making Halo Wars exclusively for Xbox 360.
Look out for our thoughts on Halo Wars as well as new screenshots. You can find the E3 2008 trailer here.

Yup, that's the only way to describe these eye-frying shots of Geometry Wars 2.
As you can see, the crazy XBLA shooter is no longer a single-player affair as these screens give you the first glimpse of four players going at it.
Our video encoder is buckling under the pressure of MS's E3 assets rush, but we will have video footage right here for you soon as well. Bare with us...
