Discover what will make Rise of the Argonauts™ a unique epic action RPG experience, in a new developer commentary video from Liquid Entertainment, released today by Codemasters® and now available to view and download from www.rise-of-the-argonauts.co.uk.
In the Immersive Game Experience video, Liquid Entertainment’s President Ed Del Castillo and Lead Designer Charley Price reveal the thought process behind the creation of Rise of the Argonauts™ and its express aim of creating a role-playing game like no other. Key to this was streamlining the traditional RPG menu systems, ensuring that the player is always immersed in the extreme Greek mythology action.
In Rise of the Argonauts, Jason and his trusted band of Argonauts embark on a quest to find the Golden Fleece and revive his beloved slain wife while exploring the vast Aegean – a dynamic world of forbidding islands, shining cities, lush jungles and deep forests – in a vibrant realization of ancient Greece. As Jason, players will carve a unique journey through the game world as their choices bring favour with the gods, shape the plot, change the outcome of quests and open up new story arcs.
Mixing deep exploration, grand-scale quests and gladiatorial combat in a story powered by the timeless motives of love and vengeance, Rise of the Argonauts is coming this autumn for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Games For Windows®. For the videos and more, head over to the website at www.rise-of-the-argonauts.co.uk.

Heads-up displays? Pre-rendered cut scenes? Those are so 2004. Realistic visual indicators of your character's status and interactive cut scenes are all the rage in the salons, and most trendy developers have included one of these features into their recent blockbuster titles. Lionhead Studios, however, have elected to include both in their upcoming canine-friendly adventure, Fable 2. They're like the Isaac Mizrahi of video game development.
This report comes from OXM, who recently got a chance to play a content-complete version of the much-anticipated title. According to them, Lionhead has eschewed the inclusion of the standard action-RPG health and mana/magic/energy bars in favor of a screen uncluttered. They also claim that "non-interactive cinematics take up less than five minutes" of Fable 2, making us wonder if Peter Molyneux is actually the Bizarro World version of Hideo Kojima.

Word on the street was that the $299 price slash we've been hearing about wasn't about carving out a new pricepoint but instead making room for a new 60GB Xbox 360 in its place. Turns out the Mr. Word on the Street nailed this one, with Microsoft finally fessing up to the price drop, and announcing a new fancy 60GB Xbox 360 to fill in at that $349 pricepoint, which will be available in "early August." You can pick up a 20GB "while supplies last," but the $279 Arcade and $449 Elite aren't budging price wise. Oh, and can we just say that this couldn't come at any better a time? We just had to delete August Rush to make room for National Treasure 2, which we'll probably have to drop tomorrow for Fool's Gold. Such is life when you've only got 20GB to work with.

Poor Spike TV. Their scoop's blown! The first details on the next Wolfenstein title are actually to be found in the latest issue of Game Informer, which gives us information on the game's setting and requisite gimmicky features. Aside from the obvious (you're still BJ Blaskowitz, you're still fighting Nazis who are mucking about with the occult), the game will introduce a quasi-sandbox city, with different parts of it opening up as you complete missions. It'll also feature an AI-controlled resistance force that will assist you, and there'll be some Link-to-the-Past-ish elements courtesy of an ability to enter "The Shroud", a dark, alternate version of the game's city. As expected, Raven are handling development, and it'll be appearing on the PS3, 360 and PC.

Here we go. Various outlets today began redirecting readers to Motus Games' page, who have been working on Darwin, a Wii remote-like motion controller that doesn't need an infrared sensor bar to work. The device is slated to come out at the end of the year for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Of course, we've known about Darwin ... since February, so why is this coming out now?
As far as we can tell at the moment, the Xbox 360 connection can be summed up like this:
Darwin shares a similar color pallette with the Xbox 360 pad
There are similarities in the name Darwin and the purported codename for Microsoft's motion controller, Newton
E3 is days away and everyone is getting antsy
We're not denying the possibility that Darwin is, erm, Newton, but we're not sure what, if any, revelations have come out in the last four months. (Microsoft, if you recall, has a definite deal with Qmotion over active gaming controllers.) So for now, sit back, relax, print out your bingo card and wait for Monday's press conference.

No sooner does Variety all-but-confirm that Microsoft's somewhat mysterious Lips karaoke project will be shown at E3 then Gamekyo gets their hands on some apparent promotional shots of the game's wireless microphones (above) and box art. No screenshots of the gameplay yet, but the photo dump does include two pictures of people standing around with microphones near their mouths (you know, in case you were wondering what karaoke looked like).
Actually, these singing shots do show one interesting feature: the "lights on the shaft of the microphone that pulse to the rhythm of your voice," that were hinted at in last month's leaked Intellivoice Intellisponse survey. According to the pictures, this feature takes the form of two rings of light near the base and tip of the microphone, bathing the singers' hands in an ethereal blue or red glow. We'll let you know if the feature comes off as trippy or tacky when we inevitably get some hands-on time with the game next week.

We're not exactly sure what kind of behind-the-scenes relationship Target has with Microsoft, but this marks the third time by our count in which it has revealed something pretty important about the Xbox 360 before Redmond told anyone else (on the record, that is). Whatever the case, the Xbox 360 Pro is being let go at Target's brick-and-mortar locations (read: not online, so you'll actually have to slip some shorts on and leave the basement) for $299.99. Guess that confirms the US price drop, huh?

Atari has decided its next move will be an exclusive Xbox 360 racing game called RACE Pro, due sometime this autumn.
This is being made by Swedish clever-clogs SimBin, which was responsible for those very admirable GTR excursions.
RACE Pro is going for the authentic aspect of driving and has brokered some exclusive deals to reproduce Alfa Romeo, BMW and Chevrolet WTCC cars, and to recreate the Macau, Porto and Pau courses.
There are loads more cars and tracks besides, plus various championships to race in and career ladders to climb.
RACE Pro also has a casual side to ensnare a wider audience, such as a quick to play Mini Cooper Challenge and a Hot Seat mode where you pass your pad to you friends like a hot potato after a certain amount of time behind the wheel.
Otherwise Live and local multiplayer is in for you and up to 11 other players.
Did you know that the term horsepower was made up by a man watching a pony lift coal? Using a pulley not its hoof-hands. We didn't until we read Wikipedia.
RACE Pro may have started life as the Xbox 360 GTR game SimBin was making for THQ but never finished. Unfortunately Atari was unavailable to clear this up.
Should be worth a look, then. And look you can at the very first screenshots in our RACE Pro gallery.

We've got eight new screenshots for the new James Bond game. Come and have a look...
The game blends first-person action with a third-person cover combat system, which is evident in the screenshots. You might recognise some locations from Casino Royale too, as the game touches upon that also.
Unsurprisingly for a game based on the Call of Duty 4 engine, the graphics look pretty good. A lot of work has obviously gone into reproducing Daniel Craig in digital form, and the textures on his clothes are particularly impressive.
The publisher has also released a fact sheet that highlights those all-important selling points:
- Be the New Bond - Quantum of Solace: The Game marks the first time players can become the dangerous and cunning Bond as portrayed by Daniel Craig in "Quantum of Solace" and "Casino Royale."
- Combat Variety - From silent take downs and sneaking through confined spaces, to one-on-one shoot outs and large scale battles, players experience a variety of gameplay that challenges them to think through situations and choose how they progress, whether it's through covert means or confronting enemies in full force.
- Advanced combat and Realistic AI - Players engage in both first-person and third-person gameplay that allows gamers to be Bond in unscripted battles against the world's most evil villains and mercenaries.
- Cinematic Appeal - Filled with armed combat, massive explosions and vertigo-inducing chases, gamers are immersed in an authentic Bond universe and drawn into epic movie moments with theatrical camera angles, split screen effects, picture-in-picture sequences, and amazing environments inspired by real world locations such as Montenegro, Venice, Bolivia and Austria.
- Unparalleled Bond Multiplayer Experience - Bringing James Bond to next-gen consoles for the first time, gamers now have the ability to battle online in a variety of modes.
