At the 2008 E3 Media and Business Summit, Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, announced Mega Man 9™ for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Nintendo WiiWare™, and PLAYSTATION® Network. The original 2D classic Mega Man returns, bringing the series back to its core with retro-action platform gameplay and NES-inspired old school graphics. Relive the Mega Man experience with maniacally themed environments, a host of power-ups, and classically inspired bosses, each with their own unique weapons and weaknesses. Mega Man is currently scheduled for a simultaneous launch on all three platforms this Fall.
Mega Man 9 is a continuation of the original Mega Man series and will feature the classic gameplay fans know and love focusing on defeating bosses and acquiring a diverse arsenal of weapons. Mega Man 9 will feature over a dozen new challenging levels, a horde of new enemies with designs directed by Keiji Inafune, the original Mega Man character designer, online leader boards and a gamerscore achievements system.
In the year 200X, as the advanced science of the era has created industrial robots that co-exist with humans. However, an evil genius, Dr. Wily, plots for world domination and creates his own robot army to take over mankind. Luckily for humanity, Dr. Light outfits one of his domestic robots “Rock” to fight Dr. Wily’s creations. Mega Man is born.
Set after the events of Mega Man 8, multiple riots have sprung up all over the world. Whilst many people suspect that this is another plot from Dr. Wily, Dr. Light is stunned to recognize that some of the robots rioting on the TV screen are his own creations. Even more stunning, Dr. Wily appears on television to proclaim that Dr. Light is the evil mastermind behind these latest catastrophic incidents and it’s up to Mega Man to clear his creator’s name!
Launching this Fall for all three major platforms, Mega Man 9 is the must- buy Mega Man for both old and new fans alike. Its retro look and feel will draw old fans back to the series while its intuitive controls and the 80’s retro style gameplay will open up the game to a broader audience.

Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced Flock! (working title) for PLAYSTATION®Network, Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows® PC. Developed by Proper Games™, whose talented team members are known for their previous work on Lemmings, Crackdown, and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, Flock! is currently scheduled for a downloadable release this Holiday season.
In Flock!, players take control of a UFO that has been given the challenge of herding farm animals to its mothership through a variety of puzzle-filled interactive levels, including corn fields, pastures and other “plushie”-like environments. In order to succeed, players will have to manage the quirkiness of the animal’s distinct behaviors, as well as solve a series of environmental puzzles using Flock’s! physics-based gameplay. The animals that populate these islands – sheep, chickens, pigs, cows and more – respond to the UFO in all kinds of eccentric ways based on their nature. By finding or creating a passable route across a level, players can herd the animals safely toward their ship. Solving the puzzles within the suggested time limit yields exciting rewards, but players can also take their time in order to find more hidden bonuses. With a unique theme, clever humor and easy pick-up-and-play controls, Flock! promises to be an instant hit with gamers of all ages!
Flock! uses a sophisticated physics engine that drives the challenging puzzle elements of the game. Whether using the Tractor Beam to move obstacles out of the way or the Depressor Beam to stamp out crop circles to guide your herds, being an extraterrestrial has never been this fun! Friends will also be able to join in on the animal herding adventures through co-op play. And when all the levels have been completed, the journey is just getting started as users will be able to make their own customized puzzle-filled levels using the level editor. Flock! comes packed with so much content, the potential fun is out of this world!

EA has told Eurogamer that Left 4 Dead will be out in Europe on 7th November.
Both PC and Xbox 360 versions should be out on the same day, and will follow the E3-announced US date by three days.
Developed by Turtle Rock, Left 4 Dead is an online co-operative zombie shooter for you and your friends. You can even control the zombies as you try to eat the quartet of human survivors.
Interestingly, 7th November is the same day Gears of War 2 will be released in Europe. Gulp.

To celebrate, I don't know, Christmas in July, Microsoft will soon be releasing two limited edition Xbox 360 controllers. One red, the other green. No changes to your standard wireless pad other than the colour, so they're not must-buys, but different-coloured pads are always nice to have around when guests pop over and baulk at the sight of your grime-caked white controller. Green one's above, with a shot of the red control pad after the jump.

Electronic Arts has released a new trailer for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 that shows off units from The Empire of the Rising Sun faction. Expect lots of flashy planes, Gundam-esque mechs and the arguably non-alliterative Tsunami Tank. The embed isn't working, so head to Gamespot to watch it. Red Alert 3 will be out this Fall for PC and Xbox 360.

Portal is officially getting a sequel. Gamerscore Blog reveals that Portal: Still Alive will continue the single player story found in the original Orange Box collection, and will add new challenges. The title will be available through Xbox Live Arcade ... although no word on either a PC or PS3 version at this time. Considering the massive popularity of the original, this is a huge win for XBLA. Potential details of the sequel may have been leaked here.
Update: Yup, confirmed. Microsoft has announced that Portal: Still Alive will come to XBLA this fall -- the release will feature new levels and achievements in addition to the original content. No lie, cake or otherwise.

We pretty much knew it was coming, but Microsoft just officially announced the Lips karaoke game official. Just like we'd heard, the singalong title will come with a motion-sensitive mic that lights up in time to your voice. The game interface is somewhat similar to Rock Band or Singstar, where you have to hit various pitches accurately to rack up points -- but in addition to the game content, you'll be able to sing along to your own music off a Zune or iPod.

Square-Enix has announced Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 at Microsoft's E3 press conference.
Following the announcement was the debut of a new trailer that looked initially like a Panzer Dragoon game with dragons flying in a trench. A ship lands in the trailer and flying mechanical soldiers drop out. Included in the trailer were massive airships.
A hint of gamplay was shown and the graphics looked awesome.
Although no specific release date was confirmed, it was announced that the RPG will launch simultaneously on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in both the US and Europe.

The E3 2008 Microsoft Conference announced numerous Xbox Live additions, but one of the biggest is the news that Microsoft has partnered with Netflix to offer rentable movies on Xbox Live.
Netflix members will be able to watch over 10,000 movies and television shows for no additional charge exclusively on Xbox Live.
There's an instant watch queue system in the Xbox dashboard.
But the biggest feature is the ability to share movies and shows with other members in your party. Users will be able to send the movie to up to eight other 360 users and separate users can watch the movie simultaneously.

Microsoft revealed today at their E3 press conference that their dashboard will be completely redesigned in the fall, with an all new avatar system similar to that on the Wii. The fully customizable avatars, designed by Rare, can be imported into other games to be used as playable characters. New channels include the My Xbox channel, which includes games, photos and video. The friend list will now be manifested as "Community," which uses the avatars to designate whether or not a friend is signed on.
The interface looks somewhat similar to Vista Media Center in its basic structure, but with more emphasis on visuals. Also, a new "party" mode will allow an 8 person chat to be carried out regardless of where you are within the Xbox Live community. This party can also move as a group through different games in XBLA and their new Primetime feature, which has multiplayer-oriented party games. The update is expected to come in the fall.

Microsoft sure had itself a doozy of a press conference this year, but there's still more in store for Xbox 360 users than what was detailed during the keynote. First off, with the upcoming update, Microsoft will let users store and play back games from their hard drives. You'll have to have the disc in your drive for piracy reasons, but it won't be spinning during game play, which means quieter gaming and quicker load times (and more 60GB sales, we thinks, how convenient).
Next up, Microsoft will let users make Xbox LIVE Marketplace purchases on the web, which are then automatically downloaded to your 360 for your enjoyment when you get home -- or walk across the room. The old "blades" Dashboard interface will be moved to the new Xbox Guide, which will provide a quick way to access everything on your 360. Finally, the 360 will support the 16:10 aspect ratio over VGA or HDMI, and work in 1440 X 900 and 1680 X 1050 resolutions.

He wasn't as precise as the Capcom guys, but that's good enough for the moment we suppose. More soon.

Bethesda's Todd Howard announced today that downloadable content will be made available for Fallout 3, albeit exclusively for PC and 360.
Speaking at Microsoft's conference at E3 2008, Howard stated "We love Xbox Live Marketplace, we're happy to announce that we're going to be doing substantial DLC for Fallout 3 and it will be exclusive to Xbox 360 and Windows PC." No concrete information on what the DLC will be comprised of was revealed.
Prior to talking about DLC, Howard walked through a live demo of the game, showing the VATS system in action as well as the Fatman personal nuke launcher. There was talk of a hacking mechanic as well, but was not shown.
Howard also talked about the game's scope, pegging it as a 100-hour plus experience "that reacts to how you play it." You can be good, bad, or "anything in-between".
Check back soon for more on what looks like one of the must-haves of 2008.
